Just Cause 3 is an open world third-person action-adventure game that will be set on a fictional Mediterranean island known as Medici with Rico Rodriguez set as the protagonist. The map size has been confirmed to be similar to that of the setting of Just Cause 2 with 400 square miles (1,000 km2) being dedicated for the new setting. However, its volumetric terrain has increased to allow more verticality - as a result of this, it is now possible for the player to explore subterranean caverns and to scale buildings more effectively and realistically. The world of the game is composed of five major biomes, with each having unique landmarks and landscapes.

well they can't just give frames out for free..:P
Another few things to add is that in JC2 the world map had DRASTICALLY varying environments. From the sunny beaches\ islands, to the huge swamps, forests, the snow regions which actually had bases in them, the awesome desert region which is completely missing in 3, and the HUGE bustling city full of sky scrapers and beautiful skylines. Through the map are also a ton of unique places to visit. No two towns felt exactly the same and there were crazy places like the casino resort, skull island, the Mile High Club flying in the sky, etc. In 3 they completely took a fat shit on all of that as every single town looks the same, the "big city" is small as shit and one of the most empty environments in the whole game as there's not even more than 1 or 2 npc's hanging around there. Again, 3 has way less variety in its map as a third of the whole place is water, and pretty much only beaches, forest, and snow areas. The second thing is that idk if people remember this, but JC2 had around over 200 side missions that all had you doing different shit for different gang leaders. I remember one side mission sent you to the island from Lost and it was cool as fuck. In JC3 there are no side missions, there's only like 6 different kinds of stupid mini games that you have to constantly repeat to get any unlocks. And I got 100% completion in JC3! Fun game but idk why they made the mistakes I just mentioned as they already had done that shit right in the last game

Why they focused on making the game look pretty instead of focusing on stabilizing and maybe even pushing for 60fps is completely beyond me.
Because if they focused on that people would have said the graphics look like a 360 game or something like Fallout 4. People complain about everything, nothing is perfect.

I had the same problem with Just Cause 2. Eventually, tethering things and blowing stuff up loses its luster. It's like a never-ending roller coaster. Fun in theory, but there just comes a point where I start to grow bored of this thing that's supposed to be amazing and that angers me.
Hour 1: "EEEEEEEXXXXXXPLOOOOOOSSSSSSIOOOOOOOONS!!!!! YEEEEEES!!!"
Hour 2: "EXPLOSIONS! YES!"

+OckhamAsylum That's when missions came in for me, offering a more diverse gameplay. Sadly though i feel the missions in just cause 3 seem to be much less in quantity and much more repetitive than just cause 2's agency missions. Just cause 2 also had a more "James Bond" feel to it if you get what i mean, like speed boats with missiles and machine guns on top of them. The tropical island was also a better setting. I think im gonna have to reinstall just cause 2...

This games frame rate is still horrible. The latest patch made the frame rate even worse than what it was! This is some backwards progress if you asked me.

I am on low graphics and get mostly 30-40 FPS, with some frame drops as well. I found myself having a lot more fun with this one than JC2.
If you say it's like just cause 2 with things improved I am def heading for it because JC2 was like my favorite game of that year, thanks for the honest review though I like how you focus a lot on performance

Thanks for your review. I really enjoyed exploring the world & collecting everything in JC2, and MS store has JC3 XL edition for $17 at the moment, so I went ahead and grabbed it despite the (expected) lackluster plot and framerate issues. Not a bad deal for a large sandbox and 3 DLCs.

just brought the game( for 30$ including season pass) and I have to agree with your review. The driving. mechanism is atrocious ( the car will ping off even if you hit a normal civilian). The game does crash sometimes. Also the story mission are mostly, protect thus, destroy that. And the world feels empty. it is big, but all the settlement's end up feeling the same. Also there are a few graphical glitches. Glad I listened to your review and waited for a sale to buy this

davefan16 It has singleplayer but it fairly shallow. Missions are called "situations" while challenging there is not much depth. Terrorist hunt and multiplayer are virtually identical. Was able to get it for 45 with best buys gamer unlock along with a coupon.
I'm not sure if it's in my head but I got a new 4K tv today and when I played just cause 3 on it I noticed it lagged lots less and it played a lot faster I'm on ps4
awesome review I watched a few from your channel before and I had to see this. I already had pre-order jc3 and expansions but can't play it due to waiting for my rig to get back stateside anyways it gave me a clear view of what to expect and I dont think I would be disappointed now.

Joe Schena hey, i had crashing and freezing during my time with this game and want to know if you experienced similar issues. It was 95% unplayable for me, and there are framerate issues. And just to clarify, this is the only game that had ever done this on my xbox one so i know it's something wrong with the game. But now im enjoying Watch Dogs 2 (: but i do love the destruction in this game ;(
I got the 84 dollar version for 17 dollars today, hope it’s worth it
Never had issues with fps on PC, granted I'm running it on a 980. buttery smooth 60fps with everything maxed. picked it up for ~$35 on g2a which is about what I'd say the game is worth.

For consoles, what graphical improvements, if any, can we expect from post release patches? How significant can these be? I was a huge fan of JC2 so I'm still very excited to pick up JC3 today, but I'm surprised the FPS is THAT bad. It's certainly deceiving when you watch all of the pre-release JC3 videos on RUclips.
+LB1280 not sure. Lots of CPU and GPU problems on both consoles going on but they both drop far below 30 and depending on the action it can be for a good deal of time.

Yeah I would recommend getting just cause 2 and get this later for like 20 30$ if you really want it. Unfortunately this game just isn't that good and they also removed some things from the last game like sprinting and rolling.

Get the dlc if you can - they are not essential but can be pretty fun like a monster truck and fighter jet and Rico's Gun.
I can completly recommend jc2 and if you add a graphic mod, the game will look nice (you have to remind how "old" the game is). Furthermore you have a really funny multiplayer (if you are playing with friends)
I've tried numerous times playing just Cause 2 but I just can't get into the grappling hook mechanic...i love the destruction and chaos though, so I *should* like it! Is jc3 any different?

I have never once dropped below 100 FPS on ultra at 3440x1440p. Idk if they've fixed it after release or new tech makes it more playable, but performance has been great for me

The only new thing in JC3 is the wingsuit but for everything else JC2 is better.
I've heard mostly bad things about this game, but it look so fun.
If you can deal with the frame drops, and enjoyed Just Cause 2, this is a must buy in my opinion.

I have 8GB of ram, I7-4770k, GTX 760 and this game gets 12 fps just walking. I get maybe 1 frame per 2 seconds while things go boom.
Well what settings are you on? 1080p? 720p? Ultra preset? Low preset?
+Blue Fury Gaming Dude do you know what the hell you're talking about? (Hint: you don't.) You're GTX 960 is a rebranded GTX 760 dingus. It's not his graphics card obviously. You'd both be getting similar performance. Even if you have the 4gb version of the 960 they both have similar speeds and stack up on most sites I've looked at comparing them. At least know what you're talking about next time before you come in here spouting shit.

Biggus Dickus No I like to read multiple reviews but the performance issues alone make it pretty unappealing, even PC users are reporting problems but hopefully they'll patch in better performance.

I was playing with my friend who had seen the reviews before playing and neither of us had many issues with the framerate. Yes it could be better but does it ruin the game? No far from it. At one point we had 5 helicopters shooting missiles at us did it become unplayable? No not in the slightest.

Good review mate...and i got my PC copy for £20 (around $30). So I got a great deal. Ive had a lot of FPS issues..even lowering graphics levels doesnt help, a bit, but not much. Hopefully Avalanche will sort out a patch to make this smoother for all formats quite soon. Although letting games out in a buggy jaggy mess seems to be the norm nowadays.

Is this worth $15?
On my PC it runs buttery smooth on all ultra settings, usually stays between 45-70 fps. I have a Xeon 3.0 ghz with 12 gb ram and a GTX 1050 ti.
I have a couple of issues with this game (I'm on ps4). First off is the annoying servers. The game is always online, due to leaderboards for certain activities. However, I will randomly disconnect, which takes about 30 seconds on it's own, then I will be put in an offline state. Then as soon as I open the map, it tries to reconnect, which takes a while. Then it disconnects again. Does anyone else have this problem?
Second off is the framerate, which can be annoying on occasion, but isn't too noticeable. Anyway, despite the issues, it is still a great game.
I have some of the same problems with the online thing, but most of the time for me I just select "Reconnect" instead of "Enter offline mode" and it only takes 5-10 seconds to reconnect.

May I ask: What are your PC specs? Other people I have watched play this game have had perfectly fine frame rates.

I'm still very positive on Fallout 4 cause, well it's more Fallout, but this one is just so disappointing.
This game goes on sale at Walmart on black Friday for $12. Is it worth trying out for that??
Good review Centaur. Was a little harsh at times but still very informative. Still love just cause no matter what. But perhaps in the future patches will fix the fps and other issues? what would you say about it then?
+naughtydog201 No clue the poor performance impacted gameplay to the highest amount. Its not like I said to not buy the game or anything. Just buyer beware for awhile is all!
AngryCentaurGaming Indeed! I have been playing it and damn is the frame rate annoying as hell. It just doesn't feel right when causing an epic explosion for everything to feel like it is lagging. Nonetheless it is a really fun game and hopefully with some patches in the future the game could easily become a Buy. Your reviews are phenomenal man. I wasn't considering Black Ops 3 but your review has definitely made me change my mind because you actually inform on relevant info of a game. Good job

Well I'm definitely not buying this now. I just finished Fallout 4 so I was looking to get a new game and this was at the top of my list but after the horrendous fps issues Fallout 4 has I really don't think I can handle any more. I'm glad I saw this before buying haha.
+adi you need to be smart with RPGs, you must have expected to cluelessly beat it
+Quitwastingyourtimereadingmylongassusername I completed fallout 4 and got all the achievements it was a massive let down. Story was meh and the performance issues that have plagued fallout for years still exist which is incredibly disappointing.
