It is not my intention to peek into your personal life, but how do your friends and family think about you and your soon climbing through these crazy caves?? I would get the craziest reactions from all of my peers! Keep up the good work guys, love watching these videos, stay safe as well!
I've only got crazy reactions on the internet. It never even occurred to us that this should insight any kind of reaction. It was a shock to us that people wanted to watch us crawl around in the dark, cold, dirt.
I mean, the kid is not even my son! We're just out here having a good time.
Were you by yourself?! What happens if something goes wrong? How do you get help? Also, do you only have one light? What would you do if it failed/you lost it whilst in the cave?
@@soylentlyso3219 Don't ask that type off questions. I asked once and he replied like a a$$hole.
@@DannyDirtyDrawz LOL! I believe it.
Il faut deq gens comme ça qui font avancer les choses . Avant d'avoir des parachute avion... efficace il a falut faire des tests
We're still getting out and about. Thanks for your continued patience! Lots of interesting adventures to come.
OMG I just had a continuous panic attack watching you 😳 I'd love to conquer my fears but if I'm like this watching you through a screen in my own home then I HAVE NO HOPE!!
THANK YOU for the virtual heart attack & glad you made it out alive!!
Scuffed but alive 😅 🤣
Looking forward to it mate! Love the videos, not going to stop loving them
Love your channel bro
love these videos!
You people are bravest of the brave ! 👊 just be careful and inform others where you people going, for the love of life !
This channel deserves 50 million subs for what they do. They make cave exploring just a bit harder by getting footage for us and still staying positive when they're in trouble. They record and show us things that most people don't experience. Mad respect for them
100 %
Agreed brother agreed 👍
💯
No click bait, no hyper active nutty inexperienced kids. I actually learn from these guys!
I agree
1:28 Took my breath away. Nobody would see these things if it weren't for folks like you and Jacob.
Your ability to stay calm is impressive. Huge respect.
Right?
My anxiety levels fluctuate so much when I watch these lol
Watching as a cave diver here and still get chills from the squeezes you go through. Respect.
And when he gets caught up he stays so calm and figures it out. And you sir...CAVE DIVING!?! Terrifying! Maximum Respect💯
These videos are amazing, I love your insight on different topics as you're wedging yourself through ancient rock and stone. Squeezing your body through places most people never would and in this quet solitude having a conversation with us like were pals who stopped over your house for a drink. Thanks for making these vids.
This crawl felt different … in a very spiritually emotional way . Truly enjoy not just the exploring but the wisdom you share . Even in times of weakness we can find strength .
Thank you so much. Very nice words. I like the idea that you can see below the surface of what's in your direct field of vision.
@@CalvinHikes I started watching your channel throughout lockdown. Although caving intriguing but you send my anxiety through the roof lol I'd never ever do this but I'll definitely continue to watch your channel.
Also have you and Jacob thought about traveling the world to explore caves?
@@iansmith321 I feel like the lockdowns really boosted our channel.
I travel the world often but Jacob is not my child so that makes that difficult. It's also expensive. It's also not my primary job. So I have plenty of obligations which keep me home. But I have done some International caving and there's a few videos of that. Nothing crazy yet though. We'll get to it.
@@CalvinHikesyour channel & seeing Jacob’s confidence grow through your lessons & belief in his ability have taught me so much about the human experience ! Massive thank you 🙏🏽 🦝🙌🏽⚔️
Wow, that twilight room is beautiful!
It was fantastic in the morning! They're really pretty when they fill with ice and snow but then it's also hard to get to the caves.
@@CalvinHikes I'm going to going in on my one
Man this guys personality is just amazing
Thank you!
You're music selection really added to the atmosphere.
I really cannot imagine being these places you have been, I've always had acute claustrophobia and the thought of being underground is petrifying to me
Your videos absolutely terrify me, I can’t get enough of them 🤠
Always appreciate your life (& cave) perspectives 🙏😊
I get anxious just watching you. Thanks for all the hard work.
Super easy, barely an inconvenience.
Amazing job guys, keep the videos coming. With love from England 🏴
I love this channel so much. Calvin, you are an absolute inspiration to me in my life. I look forward to seeing your videos, and check for them daily. I would love nothing more than a conversation with you about your experiences while caving. Regardless, thank you for the amazing content and life lessons. Looking forward to the next video!
You guys get the best footage , it's incredible. It's like watching an action movie. I'm on the edge of my seat , and can't look away. I had very bad claustrophobia, however from watching these videos, I have felt way less claustrophobic in all situations now. It's quite amazing. You guys staying cool. Calm ,and collected has just showed me how to better handle these situations . So Thanks very much for sharing
That's high praise!
Is the video and editing is certainly the harder portion of the work.
Hey Caveman Hikes! I want to say I appreciate your work and knowledgeable narration. I have claustrophobia, but the way this channel presents cave exploring has made me feel comfortable. Never thought that was imaginable, so thank you! Also, there's something about you guys that feels like childhood. The wonder and exploring feels like the experience I crave. I appreciate you guys. Best exploring to you both!
So nice of you to say. Very kind words, thank you.
"Unless you become as little children..."
@@CalvinHikes ha, so true! Thanks for the reply!! Maybe one day I can venture into a cave 😀 by walking in it! Baby steps
Can't get over how calm you always are going through those tight squeezes. Will be looking forward to your upcoming videos !
Thank you! Calmness is our chief export. Our whole program is about peace and calm. The caving is incidental.
Eventually we'll convince everyone of this truth!
Love watching your videos, not only do we get to watch you squeeze through caves but you have good insight and lots of wisdom to share as well! Your crazy lol in a good way
Thank you so much!
I am way too claustrophobic to even attempt this kudos to you man. My panic would immediately get me stuck. And to me being stuck underground liked that I'd rather be cut up in pieces
I've been watching your videos for sometime now and I can't get over how impressive this is. I couldn't do it but I'm glad you take us with you on your journeys 🙏🥲
Such great videos man. Entertaining every time! Great production & narration
Great to see some new videos out. You guys are so brave and skilled. Keep it up! I could never do this but I love watching it. The whole video is so well put together. Informative and educational, atmospheric, story filled. Bravo!
Wow thank you so much
Love your spirit, keep it up!
Amazing work
The videos you guys make wich are the tightest squeezes ones are the best. I watch every minute of it everytime, Keep the great work up Calvin & Jacob!
Yeah we are eminently aware that people don't actually want to watch us cave. They want to watch us die. If we are not being crushed by the rocks, the videos will not go viral.
We have some terrible terrible videos coming up but they are taking some time to edit. This was just last week!
Evan I've been watching you and Jacob for over a year. Many thanks for all the adventures. I am claustrophobic and when I I first started watching I would pace in front of the TV watching snippets building up my tolerance. Months of watching allowed me to watch the entire adventure with moments of uneasy. Today I believe you are by yourself and that was tight. Only flashes of uneasy for me at your tightest moments. My uneasiness arises knowing your exploring new areas that might not allow you to turn around after having passed through very tight squeezes. Your attitude, spelunking knowledge and one with your capabilities display a consummate professional. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you and you're welcome. I apologize for not being able to make you squirm as much. We will try to upgrade the claustrophobia.
great video, thanks
Thank you for letting people like me see the wonders just sitting under the earths crust. Truly appreciate all you do!
Dude y'all have done things other people would have gotten stuck in and tbr you have became the best on RUclips for your work respect!!
Beautiful picture with the sun-rays shinning through, close call with the drill sealed with a manic laugh😂. Keep exploring and safe travels.
Take care my friend, enjoyed as always.
The sun hitting the different greens and yellows is awesome, your red hoody is great contrast also, great picture !
Always the red hoodie! Thank you. It really is a pretty entrance.
I’m not fond of small spaces and you give me anxiety just watching. But I love to watch. Keep up the good work
Keep up the great work guys!
Glad you're back at it!! 😄
Love your channel guys 🔥🔥
Keep it up guys you give me inspiration always stay safe calvin!!
You always give us good things to think about.
I always get excited when they upload a new video. Love me some Calvin and Jacob.
Thank you for these videos! Watching these has been exposure therapy for my claustrophobia.
Exposure therapy works pretty well for some people. It did for us!
Absolutely fascinating video…..I have no idea how you do what you do
I can’t believe you once said that you aren’t an expert, if this isn’t being an expert in caving i don’t know what it is
An “ex” is a has been, and a “spurt”
is a drip under pressure.
Been watching ya’ll for a few months now and love the content!
Thank you so much!
Something about your videos are just special man. Can't even really point out exactly what it is, but some of my favorite content I have watched and definitely the best cave exploring content.
Thank you. That's high praise. I hope that someday you put your finger on it. And when you do...
The anxiety from these videos in crazy, but I always come back for more
Yup! Caving is similarly addictive.
What you said on leaning on your strengths is so true!
Watching all your vids..... Brother you are a MASTER !!! 🙏🏻
sorry to hear the past 8 months have been difficult. Your grit is awesome!
Thank you!
I don't think I was complaining. But some lessons are being learned and I like to speak about those.
But I'm willing to complain!
Watching the growth of this channel, knowing how humble these gentlemen are, is awesome! Great stuff guys 👍
Thank you.
The Cave Conquerors are here💪🔥💯
Oh God. Those rocks are really sharp!
Wonderful video. Thanks for it! :)
Our knees agree!
I’m sorry you got hurt glad you’re ok. You’re the BRAVEST MOST FEARLESS Man I’m soooo glad you film what you do otherwise I’d never see caves in the way you do it❤️✌🏽
Thank you so much.
You are so calm i wish i could stay calm in situations bad. You , your dad , and your nephew are so awesome. I love your videos ❤
Thank you so much.
One trick is patience. Lacking calmness is usually the fruit of being in a hurry to get out of a situation that you don't like.
Patience isn't something thatPatience isn't something that you can go buy. You do have to demand it of yourself and over time, you can develop it as a strength.
I just found your channel. What you and your friends and family do is so inspiring. I love the editing, the commentary, and how you explain what you are doing and seeing, and why. Keep up the amazing work, you are remarkable human beings!!!
Well thank you very much for all the kind words.
Glad to hear you're using your ailments/weaknesses to persevere and get stronger in other areas. Still wishing you the best on a full physical and mental recovery to the injury or the thing you said was holding you back.
Thank you!
Lot of lessons being learned! But glad to be out here having a good time.
Wow, almost 250k subs. I remember when you guys barely had 5k. Ya'll are still super crazy to do this!
It feels the same having 250K as it did having 250 subs. Except more money.
Every time a new video gets posted, I get to live another adventure. And here I thought I was a caver in my youth... LOL. Not even close. I know because we see the video you make it... but it still feels like a small rock could move and wedge you so you would not be able to extricate yourself. You are, however, quite experienced and knowledgeable. Thanks for sharing as always. It is great following and watching, especially when Jake is along for the adventure.
Poor Jacob, hes got to go to school sometime!
We'd live out here if it wasn't so cold in the Winter!
So I've been watching your videos for a couple months now. I totally respect what you guys do you will go down as Legends. Coming for someone that's claustrophobic I really appreciate what you do. Your videos are very enjoyable.
Thank you so much for the kind words.
Fun! Thanks.
This was amazing!
I just love the background music outta this channellll... Suspense 😅
Great video, I really enjoy your life advice. It is so true. Awesome!!
It was all learned the hard way. Lava and life are equally challenging

Fascinating and compelling whilst terrifying.

You really know how to get a man’s blood pumpin. I’ve got so much respect for you guys, I could NEVER do this. I damn near have a panic attack when I wake up and my bed sheets are over my head lol.
Can you imagine going for a hike out in the wilderness and you can just hear some man under the ground singing to himself because little do you know there is a tiny cave entrance hes digging out
Where we cave is so remote that we don’t encounter people. The animals enjoy our singing, however.
It's fascinating that people like you exist, I can't even imagine what it must feel like when you're squeezing through those body crushing spaces, thanks to people like you we get to see something scary and yet magical about our planet. Major respect to you and your friends! Stay safe!
First and foremost, it feels fun! And that's most important..
Wondeful little philosophical lessons here, all while in an extremely high stress situation.
Very interesting to see.
We talk to ourselves when survival mode kicks in.
You guys are amazing ive gone througn that cave i couldnt fit you guys are just wow
Wish I could go with you guys on these. Looks like so much fun! :)
It's the most fun I've ever had in my life.
you really decided for the best pic possible for the first pic of the wrestling examples lol!
Omg you guys are back!!❤
We died and this is our ghost. I assure you.
Awesome! I'd love to do this!
Really appreciate you sharing your wisdom on an aging body. Being an extreme sports enthusiast most of my life, I just had a knee replacement. Boy, do perspectives change when the body is disabled. Stay strong & willful. Thanks for the great content!
It's a strange sensation that I have not come to terms with yet. Trying to be patient with myself. In a way, we must allow circumstances that we could not stop anyways.
@@CalvinHikes I get it that having patience with the body is tough when not being able to do as much! It gets easier but there are still moments when I wanna scamper to the top of a mountain and not think about the consequences... But you're right, other areas do get stronger. :)
Nice to see another video! I enjoyed it, nice
To see some good content when it comes to cave diving, just need you to keep that snub nose 38 😂
That’s a nice new intro animation.
Thank you!
Amazing
I shook my head from the 4:40 mark till you came out of the first cave. Wow! Awesome pic from in there at the end.
Thank you! It's a very pretty little entrance. Those are called twilight areas they get very low light just enough to grow ferns and moss.
Wow!! Tears filled my eyes when I saw that opening with the sun rays and steam coming off the warm moist ground!!
Those are nice moments. Very beautiful.
The entry areas in the cave are called the twilight rooms. They get limited sunlight and lots of moisture so there's generally moss and little critters that live right inside that area. Like its own tiny ecosystem.
You could be a motivational speaker. I love your videos!
Thank you so much!
It's not our intention to entertain but to inspire. If at all possible.
It would be cool to see a reality game show with challenging caves that contestants would have to navigate through
This is as real as it gets. It’s also more dangerous than TV will ever allow.
The ones where your in the tiny tight spaces with nothing cool to see we’re the only videos of yours I’d seen until this one. This one seems worth it tbh, changed my mind a bit
Watching this makes my hands sweat!
my hero
oh a new video, sweet
Brand new. This was me last week. We have some really great other adventures with the whole crew on video but just taking time to edit.
One day there will be a space too small, a passage too tight a shaft too narrow.
Best saying the whole video, “I can see the entrance.”
On that we agree! “Oh, wait! Is that gold again?”
If you freeze the picture at 1:50 the smoke in the light looks like a ghost dog. Laying down with his huge head turned towards you.
I see it to !
Thanks for showing us "surface people" the wonders of the underground
This is brand new. There's lots of videos we are still working on but this was just last week. The newest version of me. Old and tired!
Check out my friend's caving channel.

He commented below. Craving Caving.
Thank you so much for the link to my channel I totally appreciate it! 🙏
That thumbnail is making my palms sweat
I'm not claustrophobic, but something about those kinds of tight squeezes tells my entire body to nope out of there. This one though... I just felt like that cave was not very stable, and like it could just crush you at any moment. Part of it could because they're not that deep. The rock is brittle and one good tremor could just collapse it all.
Otherwise, it's all just a fascinating experience to watch you sloth your way through fully aware of the dangers and but having pushed through enough situtations to know that it's essentially always navigable so long as you keep your wits about you.
You guys really need to be given a spot on mainstream media. The wealth of knowledge and advice and level of calm you bring is invaluable and needs to be shared
I like that... sloth my way through.
We've received offers from Disney and Netflix and the other streaming companies. We say no. We like our lives as they are.
*And for the record our videos are about calmness. The caving is incidental. I promise!
@@CalvinHikes good call. Hadn't considered the intrusion angle
Seeing Jacob have the mentors he has, is what is missing in many younger humans lives. Many spend way too any hrs gaming/social media. I've even noticed many kids can't really drive as well as they could. (I live in a college town) I suppose they've spent so much time inside and not driving.
Seeing Jacob and the other kids get out into nature and gain wisdom gives me hope for our future as humans.
Average driving age has been set back 2 years over the past generation. When I was a kid at least half kids had their driver's license at 16. That age is now 18.
No need for desire to go outside and explore the world. There's a clean comfortable warm world in your house on your couch with your phone. And then everyone's sad and no one knows why.
A lot of this is also FROM car-centric urban planning (I'll talk about the U.S.). People used to play outside and explore a lot more, but NOW if kids go out and play, it's often a nightmare of giant roads, no footpaths, everything is designed for cars and the road rules are also dangerous for pedestrians. Giant sprawling suburbs with nothing to see and do, there's often one strip mall servicing a huge suburb where every house looks the same, but you generally need a car to even get there, or anywhere (the birth of the "soccer mom" in her giant SUV to make her feel more safe compared to what they used to drive, a station wagon), and then the teenagers get told to leave the shitty strip mall anyway because they're loitering. Things have changed a lot in many ways.
THEN yea the internet, but it's not like the outdoors (reachable by foot) for most teenagers is competing in the slightest anyway. If it was better, and allowed for more social spaces for the community, that would at least help. Ideally there would be quality public transportation everywhere like in Europe, etc. and urban planning would prioritise people and walkability and small businesses, etc.
It's a disease in society, among other things that alienate people from one another. Both parents needing jobs, only the kids and maybe 2 parents per suburban house separate from other people. What ever system that makes people have to work the most, have the least personal time, and need the most money to pay things off due to not pooling resources, is where society gravitates towards.
How can you avoid panic attacks when you realize you are forced tight in that position? Just thinking about that put me on the edge of it
Patience. That's it. Move slower. Don't be in a hurry.
This can solve almost all life problems.
Hello Men. I have a fear of tight spaces and torture myself by watching you and your son get into some real predicaments but I really enjoy seeing what's in the caves so thank you for mapping out the caves for others and potentially saving lives, and have you been to that hell hole cave not sure where it is but there is a board that is nailed halfway over the entrance? Well, I just wanted to say hello and thank you for entertaining me and giving me some panic attacks, High Praise boys!! and also your map at the end looks like a gigantic long-necked bird!
No charge for the entertainment. Caving is rather strange to the average viewer, but it matches our personality.
Hope your all right
Thank you! I don't think I'll ever be all right. ; )
I love how the music cuts off when you go back to reality from your philosophy!
Thank you for noticing the details. Even if it's not always just right... it's usually intentional.
This was the most nerve wracking video you've done so far.
glad you got out bro🎉
Not me, I'm going back. ; )
