    I live in Geneva, Switzerland. The third most expensive town in the world. A Aldi is not far from where I live. It is not so well stocked. There is not a lot inside and the the prices are rocketing even if Aldi and Lidl are the cheapest in town. I listen when you tell the prices! It s quite being in even.

    More like Lidl, Aldi has a lesser variety of products .PS : Regarding expired products, I saw a clip with a Moldovan (Romanian speaker) settled in Russia where he has a small household family farm , he showed how he gets for free expired or almost expired products from supermarkets (bakery, pastry, dairy products and others) , he said that there is a law in Russia that obliges supermarkets to donate the respective products to farmers, not to throw them in the trash.

    I like that the fresh bread & pastries are on a shelf with a drop down cover - and that there are disposable gloves to put on for hygiene. I shop in a lidl store sometimes & their equivalent baked goods are on open shelves, with tongs to pick them up. Not that I ever would, because they're right by the entrance for the lavatories. The loaf of fresh bread @ $0.50 is a third of the price of the equivalent in uk lidl. I paid 99p for six free-range (large) eggs - the only reason I can offer for the price is that they are white rather than brown. own brand self-raising flour is about 80p (a couple of years ago it was 35p);
    Funny that there is Guinness for sale - obviously the european 'sanctions' aren't working 😆😆😆 Not that we'd want the wealthy businessmen to be losing money ....

    • @grantgml

      Comparing the average income won't be of much use to them; in the end, all that counts is what they have left in their pockets net of their higher "average income" after taxes, duties, health insurance, nursing care insurance, gasoline, CO-2 tax and broadcasting fee.
      Of course, the gross income in Russia is lower than in Germany, for example, which is not what this video is about, but rather about the failed Western sanctions.
      But if you still calculate all the taxes and duties mentioned above
      then life in Russia is even cheaper.
      I would be happy to send you my pay slips from Germany...

    My favorite supermarket after Vkusvill. Da! makes very nice bakery products and the other products're cheaper than in other supermarkets like Perejrestok or Vkusvill. But the problem is that there're no Da! supermarkets in Moscow center so we usually go to Da! on our way to countryside house (dacha) near Istra town. By the way, Vkusvill makes products delivery to any countryside house in Istra area. We often use its delivery.

      I'll tell you more, everything is more developed here than in the USA and Europe. I can transfer money from card to card in the same way as if I took out a bill and gave it to you. The flower industry and the service sector and everything else is very developed. In the USA, if you have repairs, then there are rules... You can't see anything at a distance of three meters, so it's okay! it doesn't work that way in Russia, if I see a problem from a distance of 1 meter, it's already bad, and they'll fix it. we have shops in every house, in my complex of 4 houses, 17 floors each, on the ground floor there are 3 supermarkets, 2 alcohol stores, 3 pharmacies, one of them is open around the clock, 2 bakeries, 2 points of delivery of goods from the Internet, 2 shawarma shops, a store of goods for the holiday, A bar. and it's on the outskirts of the city.

    Lidl is owned by Kaufland (literally "buy land") and they backed out of their plans to move into Australia. If you find yourself in Germany, do a video of a larger Kaufland. It's a large-scale hypermarket done in the German ALDI/Lidl style.

    There is a chain in Canada, called Loblaws. A large family business and their elder family member recently died and his place has been taken over by a younger family member and what an ass he is turning out to be. About a month ago they announced no more discounts on product expiring... that went over like a lead balloon that so far I have not seen that policy being followed. Their recent announcement is that anyone using those self check outs have to have their receipt scanned before they can leave the store. Their drug store has been caught ripping off government too. Sad to see family businesses be ruined by a younger family member.
