I believe that Kaliningrad feels less sanction because it’s literally in Europe and there will always be some ways for european products to arrive there. But I may be wrong.

Hi Russel, many people comment that in Russia people must visit stores personally to get items. Consider making a video about online shopping from 5ka, Magnit (i.e. local shops) etc via delivery services. Quite useful for disabled people.
@@TravellingwithRussell Thanks, No, I have just watched that one, thanks, and my suggestion was more about a home experience where you click through the items, add to a basket and get items delivered to your door. Maybe compare apps, variety, packaging and overall user experience.

We have huge selections of wine in the supermarkets mainly Spanish wines. Only a small selection of wines from around the world. Russell I do enjoy your supermarket visits thank you
In Russia it is the same. Small supermarkets are more expensive, but not by that much, about 10-15% as from my experience. And products there are basically the same you can find in big ones. Interestingly, there are Monster energy drinks in my local mini market (not a chain), which I can’t find anywhere else since sanctions were imposed. And of course alcohol is sold everywhere :)
I wish I had a store as stocked as this in my apartment area. We have to drive to the store in North Carolina. Walking is not feasible. So interesting. Thank you.
A store? Russians will complain if they have just one store -lack of choice) typically there are several of different chains . I have three in my neighborhood within 5-7 minutes .
I live in an average city - it's more than 500 thousand inhabitants (Russia). And yes, we have a lot of supermarkets around and shops within walking distance. And a bunch of small and medium-sized shops for various purposes along the way, from furniture to spare parts and everything for the garden. The whole problem in the USA is corporations that have taken over all your markets and flooded them with a small variety of not very high-quality food. There are many medium and small enterprises in Russia in addition to large agro-industries in each region.

I really wish this store was better taken care of by the owner. When we were in Ufa back in Summertime, in the nest building from our cousin's place there was an amazing Fasol store. I think it's all down to the franchise owner and how much they want to put into the store time, and money wise.

Hi there. You've shown this store once before, haven't you? It looks quite cozy. It's always nice to have a local store where everybody knows you. Here in Sweden these kind of stores are often called "Nära" (Nära means "Nearby" in Swedish). Perfect for a day when the weather is bad and you wanna stay at home, but really need some groceries. Most of them are located on the ground floor, though, not in the basement. The basement's in Sweden are usually reserved for storage use or smaller offices. Eggs mostly comes in packages of 6, 12, 18 or 24. An ordinary mid size 12 pack (not ecological) costs around 25 Crowns wich should be close to 200 Rubles. Thanks for a very interesting video and for a nice youtube channel.

Hi from Canada! 🇨🇦 This is a nice size of store for all the basics. We tend to either big supermarkets or tiny convenience stores, though ethic neighborhoods have smaller markets. Our eggs are roughly 5 to $7 for a dozen. I notice a distinct lack of the walls of potato chips, cheezies, cookies, ice cream, frozen pizzas, and pop we have here, much to our detriment. Thanks for the tour!
13:21 The price of eggs depends on their weight category. According to the Russian standard, eggs are divided into categories: C0 65-74.9 g; C1 55-64.9 g; C2 45-54.9 g. We have everything in Russia! There are a lot of private sector and new cottage settlements! But this is a city! Medium and large cities in Russia always have multi-storey housing! Because there are not one or two industries, as in one-story America, consisting of a dozen large cities and in most of the cities that in Russia would be called a village or town. In Russia, there are thousands of industries, factories, factories, enterprises in one city! I remind you that the city is initially a concentration of production and trade. Multi-storey housing in large cities is simply more convenient so that cities do not get stuck in traffic jams, and it is convenient for people to get to work, not far from home. There is public transport there. Your concept of cities is the Russian understanding of the countryside. Cities in Russia are different. But we have a lot of villages and small towns with private houses or low-rise housing. I live in an average city - it's more than 500 thousand inhabitants. And yes, we have a lot of supermarkets around and shops within walking distance. My dacha is located about 120 kilometers from Moscow to the East and swear to God the choice of products and items is the same. But that doesn’t matter, in fact, what amazes me most is the interest in how people from the Western world are waiting for all the Russians to die of hunger, they won’t wait
Hi Russel, eggs here average in recent years between 40 to 60 cents per egg Canadian or 52+ for US. Buying from local farms is more expensive but the chickens are supposedly free range and raised naturally. This store we don’t really have here. It’s a small version of a super market. While we have convenience stores they are not like this. And though some apartments now are starting to have stores underneath in certain areas only it’s a different layout and certainly not submerged below ground. This is so civilized and convenient. I wonder about the quality and if the foods there are made without harmful GMOs and chemicals that are so ubiquitous with North American foods. Also, the prices at convenience stores here are usually significantly higher than the big stores. A regular small size bottled water might be .25 cents at Costco, 1.00 at a super market and 2.00 at a convenience store or more. Thank you for your videos
Hi Russel, what a nice supermarket you have right on your doorstep. I wish i would have that too! Please also show the othee store. Keep on what you are doing i really like your channel. 😊
In the UK eggs are sold in boxes of half a dozen or a dozen. When I first went to live in Austria I discovered they have a huge container of eggs and you take a paper bag, count out ten eggs and bag them. I didn't speak German so was oblivious to how weird they probably thought I was for holding up 6 fingers and buying 6 eggs.
Hi Russel, here in the Netherlands I pay €2,58 for 12 eggs. Not to expensive I guess compaired to lots off foods that got, up to, sometimes 60% more expensive😖
Your price in Euros is very reasonable, even when i compare it to Australian prices. I was in Eemshaven, a long time ago, they finish the construction of cruise ships there, that are built in Germany.
Even with the recent sharp rise in egg prices, for 10 eggs in Russia they asked from 1 to 1.5 euros. Now that the shortage for eggs has disappeared, individual categories can be bought for less than 1 euro for 10 eggs!
Local prices should be compared not with prices in another region, but with how much the average resident of this region can buy this product for his average salary, and then compare with how much in your region the average person can afford. The average salary in the Netherlands is approximately 3,000 euros. You can buy 11,620 eggs with it (3000/2.58). In Russia, the average salary is about 60,000 rubles (60,000/96=625 euros), highly dependent on the region. Let's say the price of eggs is 1 euro. You found cheap ones. You can buy 6,250 eggs. This is two times less than in the Netherlands. Conclusion. For a resident of the Netherlands, eggs are two times cheaper than for a resident of Russia.
@@_B_B_B Well, first of all, the average salary in Russia is about 550 euros at the current exchange rate. At the same time, in Russia the tax is only 13 percent, unlike in the Netherlands, where the tax is almost 50 percent.

I commented on another video about the price of eggs where I live and got some flak about the amount I quoted. Keep in mind I live in California where everything is higher and the brand of eggs I was buying are the high-quality ones. I pay around 6-8 dollars for an 18 pack of eggs. I think your little store has everything a person could need. I wish I could just pack up and leave now, but I have to wait a couple more years. Hopefully this world will hold itself together until then. In the meantime, I will have to suffer from a serious case of FOMO.
California is so expensive. But, I don’t think we are too far off in NH. $2.69 for a dozen. I’m saving my ass off, and trying to move to Russia. America is a friggin mess. Plus, I love snow and winter so Russia would be perfect, their summers aren’t too hot.
I am with you Cat. It's amazing how many people are willing to give up the "American Dream" and move to Russia. A place and people we were all taught to distrust and hate when we were young. The US has gone to hell in a handbasket and I want out too. Hope to see you there!

The average income in Britain is around £2,200. In Russia, the average income is 69,000 rubles, which is approximately 600 pounds. If we remove Moscow from the statistics, then the average salary in Russia will become sharply lower. And it will be about 50,000 rubles, which is about 450 pounds.
The average income of a Russian is very different from the average income of a Muscovite. The difference is almost double.
Wealth from all over Russia has been brought to Moscow. There are about a million federal officials in Moscow. They have very good incomes. And in Moscow there are huge residential areas in which crowds of people live with significantly lower incomes.
I repeat once again, Moscow and Russia are two different places. It is impossible to evaluate Russia based on Moscow.

I believe that Kaliningrad feels less sanction because it’s literally in Europe and there will always be some ways for european products to arrive there. But I may be wrong.

My first trip to RU I went to Rostov on Don. The next day I walked to a national chain store-mid size grocery stores. Hi Russel, many people comment that in Russia people must visit stores personally to get items. Consider making a video about online shopping from 5ka, Magnit (i.e. local shops) etc via delivery services. Quite useful for disabled people.
I have covered that in a recent video. Where i worked doing the delivery role and order picking. ruclips.net/video/X9GYNUAdnwA/видео.html
@@TravellingwithRussell Thanks, No, I have just watched that one, thanks, and my suggestion was more about a home experience where you click through the items, add to a basket and get items delivered to your door. Maybe compare apps, variety, packaging and overall user experience.

Here in Spain the small supermarkets are so expensive. I never use them. The food is not fresh. The bigger supermarkets are more competitive. Egg prices have gone up, We get 3 sizes I bought 12 large for 2.62€, The shops that sell alcohol and cigarettes are owned by Asians.
There is too, small shop more expensive and have a low quality food
I wish I had a store as stocked as this in my apartment area. We have to drive to the store in North Carolina. Walking is not feasible. So interesting. Thank you.
A store? Russians will complain if they have just one store -lack of choice) typically there are several of different chains . I have three in my neighborhood within 5-7 minutes .
I live in an average city - it's more than 500 thousand inhabitants (Russia). And yes, we have a lot of supermarkets around and shops within walking distance. In a 5 - 15 minute walk from my house there are 3 hypermarkets, 4 hypermarkets within walking distance of less and 2 indoor markets.

Lucky u, that u live in beautiful Russia. 😊

Thank you for showing us where you and your wife shop at and the stock is so interesting. Prices are good, people are friendly, what's not to love about Moscow! And just so you know, personally, the longer the videos, the more time to enjoy them for me! Stay warm and I'm looking forward to the next ones. ♥ from Florida U.S.

Interesting video Russell.
Thanks Simon.
О.. 8 долларов это безумно высокая цена для яиц.. В России эта цена сопоставима для 1 кг говядины или морской рыбы высоких сортов.
@@westernwanderer8397 I watch all the Moscow videos and dream, hopefully one day…. Good luck with everything! 😄
Me too! I've been learning Russian for the past 3 years too.
Hi Russell! Love your videos!
One small correction on the content: big pack of eggs is actually 30, not 20 eggs :)
Tack!
🤙Thanks Andrea !!!!!!!!!!
Nice video
Thanks. Cheers!
