The old Battletech computer game Crescent Hawk's Inception had a weapon shop guy who loved to go into detail what each weapon would do to a human target. Except when you asked about what an Inferno SRM launcher would do. Game said he just looks away and shudders.
@13:35 Tex rants about the use of obscene words in war time while blowing away two mechs in one Alpha Strike. I didn't even know you could do that in this game.
I can't help but remember the story about how they got Chuck Norris to agree be in Expendables 2: he had no trouble with the hyper violence, but insisted that the bad language be cut before he'd sign on the dotted line.
The exception in the Periphery are the states that can hire decent merc companies. One of my favorite books in Battletech is By Blood Betrayed. The Rim Collection hired Able's Aces which became the Rim Collection's military and they were decently equipped. So the number of mechs in a Periphery military is determined by which mercs they hired LOL
Scrombles cannot be killed by puny bullet! See! Scrombles has taken four bullets in the arm, three in the left leg, one in the right, and two bullets in the back. Another bullet went through the lip. Another bullet went through the left foot. And another bullet went into Scrombles head today, here, and has not even come out yet!
Mister Tex: I won't run a broken Marauder headhunter build, this just ain't that kind of playthrough... Also Mister Tex: @5:30 & @13:40 ( ゚Д゚) There is also the odd dichotomy of American Broadcast TV where violence is perfectly fine but if a bare breast shows up then the FCC hot drops on it with all the fury of a Com Guards Late Payments Enforcement Team.
To be fair, there are missions that encourage using faster and lighter mechs - like target designation, and some convoy drops, where assaults may be too slow. The problem is that they don't encourage it enough, and the timers are generous enough to make it with assault mechs. I'd love for there to be a better way to limit it, because I've had 3 separate mass lances and a few mechs I loved, but couldn't really use because of their low tonnage. On the other hand, "Delete button" the 3xUAC-20 Annihilator was often so slow that it couldn't even get into range...
I've thought since this came out that they should have made a hard limit on tonnage, like 250 tons, and then you could add more Leopards, and maybe even a second lance. That would make the use of a diverse array of mechs more feasible. One thing I loved about the MechCommander games was the hard tonnage limit. Forced you to get creative.
@@franciscoduarteauthor Oh there are such missions, but they're *very* rare and most of the time the drop limit doesn't even make sense. The only three where it does is thed two Flashpoint ones where you personally agree to it, and a random one where you have to drop with a limit because if a Steiner Scout Lance is deployed, the target - the only wize one in the game, it seems - will book it, so you have to drop a weaker lance to lure them in.
How dare you say dirty words while committing wholesale slaughter left and right! Really? LMAO. The way you talk is one of the main reasons I look forward to your play through videos.

The South Park movie made quite a bit of fun at this. Regarding Tex himself, I agree with you Krondarr, the way he talks and what he talks about is why I keep coming back for more.

Tex, you keep doing you, I wouldn't have subscribed otherwise. Love your work and your style. And good grief they were OBSESSED with attacking that Annhiliator.
From 0:00 to 0:07 still have *Evangelion PTSD!* Watched it when I was the age of the pilots, then a decade later, then the same age as Kaji/Misato and now more of a father to the pilots. There's nothing like it... just like Battletech! Ther'es nothing like it, it's unique.
I really like how professional BEHEMOTH's character is. I've seen her cut up a bit with the crew on the dropship but out in the field she is all business. Nice
I really like this series, especially now that Scrombles' outfit is rocking my favorite assault mech, the Annihilator. Now, I'm sure I'm not the first to admit it, but I got into Battletech because of the games back in the 90's. Starting with Mechwarrior 2, I was confused & would play with cheats on all the time because I was a child. I was still a child when I got Mercenaries, but the cheats came off as I started to appreciate my c-bills. I took it as a sign of pride that I killed that fucking Uller in my stolen tank through head sniping before I escaped the military prison proper. When I found out that the Clans were murdering mercs out of hand, same as the Combine, I made it a blood feud that's lasted to this day.
A big part of what I like about the various BattleTech play throughs is seeing all the ways people build their mechs: Some people put jump jets on everything, some people see that as wasted tonnage. Some people like creating mixed lances with balanced stats, and some people are like, "you know, if I strip off all the rear armor and give it 12 Medium Lasers, I think I can break a torso in one turn..." Some people go, "I can play with the armor a bit to add an extra heat sink," and some go, "OK, EVERY TON IS 80 HIT POINTS, SO LEG ARMOR + STRUCTURE = CT + 25% STRUCTURE, WHICH SHOULD BE...WAIT, WAS THIS MY REAR OR MIDDLE MECH? DAMN, I'LL HAVE TO PLUG EVERYTHING INTO EXCEL AGAIN."
And then there's me: Max armor (or close to) on everything and as much firepower as I can fit. Heat be damned! I'll overheat every turn if I have to. You won't punch through my armor anyway and I can even expose my back on purpose because I know I'll be fine. PEW PEW PEW!
You know, one of the reasons I watch these and the "Tex talks Battletech " is because you can sound like a retired Inner Sphere merc. Cussing included.
I pilot a glorious Stalker, so named because its 85 ton walking Hindenburg profile will surely sneak up on its foe and stealthily kill them with all the missiles. I'm also salty because House Steiner used to be House Marsden. But ineptitude and women will kill you every time. Keep up the good work!
A quote from Warhammer 40K exemplifies the Periphery armies. As one Astartes Captain once said "Anyone that discounts the effectiveness of the combat laser has never had to cross a battlefield while facing a thousand of them." Yes, Battle Tanks are of a lower tier than Battle Mechs. Yes, the mech is the queen of terrestrial battle. Yes, the Bulldog is a dirt cheap deathtrap compared to even a shadow hawk. But you can get a lot of Bulldogs for a lance of Shadow Hawks. For the short time the gaming store in my town lived, I became one of the most hated Battletech players in the entire city for my M.O. Quantity over quality. That' a mighty pretty assault lance you have there. Be a real shame if the Space Red Army with Star Stalin standing behind them happened to it.
For a fun time with an Annihilator, Load it up with 5 AC/5+++, 5 AC/5 Ammo, a TSS+++ (Ballistic), a Gyro+++, a Cockpit Mod+++, and some extra heat sinks, You can have just about full armor. Put a 10/10/10/10 mech warrior in the thing and you can blow off heads quite often. You'll either be heat neutral or darn close. You'll have 15 rounds of shooting. You won't need all 15 rounds.
10:30am and Tex drops another episode of Scrombles. Coffee in hand, ass firmly planted in bed and letting madness take the helm. Oh and Tex..if your reading this..your rock em sock em robot should be named Mr.Fister. Mr.Fister, pushing your brown spot!
Tex, just to let you know, since you have a soft spot for Urbies, that I've started a scheme in RogueTech. I'm going to build a... Clan Urbie II-C. XXL engine, XXL Gyro, Ceramic Chassis, the biggest engine core it can fit and the biggest Gauss weapon it can fit. Maybe even a heavy gauss, maybe a hyper gauss. Angel ECM just for shits and giggles, maybe even AMS, topped with heavy armor at max on all parts (no, I haven't done the maths, but I know that it's going to be the most powerful Urbie there ever was). It's all fun and games, until Urbie II-C enters the arena, the pilot screaming "Am I being detained!?". May or may mot include improved jump jets for that added touch of mobility.
