In 3012, a crack mechwarrior unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These mechwarriors promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the periphery underground. Today, still wanted by the Inner Sphere they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire The Scrombles Team.

Oh, you have a stable of, like, TWO COMPANIES of mechwarriors and only ONE LANCE you can actually field at a time. I can see having an extra four or five mechwarriors, but, Jeez Tex, you don't need to employ every dispossessed in the inner sphere!

The problem is that he needed that backlog of pilots because either they'd be in the hospital for 3 months or dead within 2 weeks.

On this particular map, the reinforcements always spawn from that point. As I was watching you move towards the denial zone, I was like ohhh nooo he is falling for their ambush. With that Atlas, the reason you didn't get 3 is because it depends on how the mech was destroyed. If it is CT destroyed then its 1 part, both legs destroyed its 2 parts, head destroyed its 3 parts.
Actually, it's Pilot Kill for 3 parts, headshots are just the easiest way to do that. I once captured three parts of an Orion that only had one leg and no arms by repeatedly knocking it over with LRMs until the pilot fell unconscious (since my Marauder refused to hit it in the damn head even once!) - the only part with ANY armour left by the end of that was the aforementioned head.
He's only looking for One Piece! Of course, Luffi's been looking for One Piece since, like 1997 . . .
@@stormwing9123 Indeed! My first few mech pickups in new campaigns tend to be pilot kills. Combination of knockdowns and side torso destructions, with an occasional lucky ammo explosion. Early game pilots only have 3-4 injury slots.
All I could think of as you said "Hi there." was the line from Eddie the shipboard computer from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, "Hi There, I'm Eddie your shipboard computer! I'm here to make your day nicer and nicer!" And you did. Delivering a pair of Ac/20 hits always makes my day nicer and nicer.

@@the_protectorof_smols3563 Carriers have large numbers of weapons. SRM carriers have 10 SRM6's, which can take down even heavy mechs in a single salvo. LRM carriers have 3 LRM20's that can sandpaper you from a distance (like in this episode). Inferno carriers have 6 inferno launchers to overheat your mech from a safe distance. The other 60 ton vehicle possibility is a Bulldog, which is far more benign. But that's a 3/4 chance of something dreadful.

I can imagine Scrombles radioing back to his salvage team, rambling on about how he's gonna make it way better and how they gotta come get it now. They're just staring at the speaker blankly, wondering if they get extra for recovery under fire.

Hey Tex, been binge watching the series over the last week and I just wanted to point out that taking out a mechs ct will yeild 1 part, legs 2, and if you can blast off just the brain bucket you'll nab a full 3 pieces. I ended up getting a Marauder and turning it into a headhunter for farming parts.
I found a star league marauder. I loaded her with 2 ERPPCs ++ and a UAC5+++
fully kitted with jump jets. Got armor like tissue paper, but she stays far from the fight. That 35% head hit chance is too good to pass up.

To get the full Atlas, you'd have needed to take out it's cockpit. Taking out both legs only nets you two parts.

A parable from the 31st Century;

I heard a similar parable about the ComGuard and a Trashborn. Only difference is that when the ComGuard stabs the guy, he whispers in their ear before they drown “I can swim.”

These slugfests really remind you that walkers make no sense anywhere without some short of shielding. Without the melee advantage against shielding theres no reason for bypedal mechs.
That's why 40k titans make sense, a tank can't denfend itself against grappling, so if you don't have some way to fight in close quarters the enemy will just trust its shield and lock you in melee.

Enemy pilots couldnt have watched professors Texs videos as hes cannon in later period. UNLESS Tex is like the Dread Pirate Robert's of private universities.

I know in the past you have expressed no desire to ever be on camera for a video, but would you consider doing a BPL podcast in VR form with one of the avatars created by a BPL member? I'm sure it is much more complicated than I imagine so not sure how feasible it would be or what tech would be needed. Just a thought. Take care young man.
I've come to the conclusion that 3-4 skull difficulty is the sweet spot of the game. Large variety of enemy mechs, missions that vary from easy to difficult, and I can use a wide array of mechs.
4.5 - 5 skulls sucks. It's all assault mechs all the time, and the game devolves into boring slugging matches determined entirely by how much extra armor has been slapped on.
If only I could praise Zorg with my other bretherin.... also good choice of coffee.

Saw off the legs = 2 pieces
Head shot or pilot incapacitation (both legs and CT still there) = 3 pieces
That's why I have one mauarder with twin ac5s and rack up the headshots lol 35% hit rate I'll try every time!
You only get three pieces of salvage if you destroy the head. Legging a mech only gives two pieces. :(

To downvote Tex after his Fall of the Star League videos would be disrespectful to one who praised Alexander Kerensky so highly, only dirty Freebirth Capellans or Periphery Bandits (Taurians count as such) would do that, they have no Honor.
Please try to get an Urbanmech lance and put UAC-20s on all of them in your next playthrough. Because it'd be funny. Even if it's only for a single mission.
Sadly the Urbie seems to be one of the rarer mechs that enemy units deploy, the only time I usually see them is when I'm training a rookie unit and they're on my side. Like Tex, I've got one part of an Urbie sitting in storage.

I know it was said earlier, but I find myself in pointed agreement that I'm sick of strategic Mechwarrior games that only allow you to command 1 Lance. Not that I'm complaining too much, but it'd be *really nice* to have the flexibility of numbers to have scouting elements, artillery support, & ambushes on the player side with more to them than 1 Lance of assault 'mechs.

I hate this map--my lance always gets beat up when it pops up. I learned about this B-Tech game from you and have played it a helluva lot since December. My "character" gets injured on missions a LOT--glad to know it isn't just me. Thanks for sharing--blow the crap outta them baddies.

I despise games that spawn enemies instead of having them show up in a normal way.
Almost as much as Roguetech spawning my hover tank in a small landlocked area.
Both latest games: Battletech and Mechwarrior Mercenaries have no potential for me, given the limitiation of litterally 4 mechs max..... One lance?!! Comparing to old Microsfots games these are jokes...
The Roguetech Mod lets you field up to 8 mechs and 4 vehicles.
