I don't understand why THIS, the RS2, isn't the mold for all cars that have come after it. Not to big, not too small, practical and fun - what more could anyone ask for?
Since the A3/S3/RS3 are getting longer and longer we may see a RS3 Avant or the "Sportsback" will reach the length of the S2/RS2 . The 5cylinder Turbo engine of the Rs3 is quite awesome.
My father in law had an Audi 4000 Quattro Sedan, black on black with an in line 5 cylinder engine, 5 speed transmission and front and rear locking diffs - that car was amazing!
When i hear Audi i think about 4 doors, sedan or a wagon, diesel. RS2, is the closest to being the typical Audi, but also smth special. while Quattro is just something from a driffrent opera. Quattro is amazing but rs2 is more Audi, then quattro will ever be.
It brings tears to my eyes seeing this. I own a Audi 80 TDI Avant and indeed it's a very fast and economical wagon. Very good ground clearance very good reliability and plenty of space. What a legend of a car!
One of many dream cars.. if I had a dollar for every time I’ve come back to this video to just appreciate the passion for these special cars I’d be able to buy a handful of them lol. Love it!
Speechless. This particular vehicle is a legend, which laid the foundation and served as engineering example for all high-powered station wagons for centuries to come. This is what I call German engineering.
That's the way I fell in love with the S3, a friend of mine let me borrow her S3 for the week while my wife and I went on holiday to Wales. I came back after that holiday and 2 months later bought an S3 of my own.
Having skidded around the alps in my golf last week I am seriously jealous. Agree with some of the comments that the quiet spoken English accent needed to be better mixed. Music too loud, not enough RS sounds either. Otherwise top job.
This is the first video I watched when I was introduced to your channel...just trying to find a retro review on the RS2, then I stumbled across you guys. That was back in 2018, still watching you guys today!
As an estate car owner myself I can say that this clip was the perfect description of a purposeful car. Awesome video, awesome car and dream like location. Bravo!
Which of you lot out there gave this a thumbs down? I will put you straight. This is the HOLY GRAIL of all fast estates, and I'm glad it's getting its time in the spotlight.
if only Audi hadn't put the entire engine itself in-front of the front wheels lol. legendary car, everyone loves all the little Porsche touches and that 5-cyldiner.
This was my dream car when I was little after seeing one in the centre of Edinburgh in Polar Silver. Had one a few years ago after moving from an Audi S2 and wished I had never sold it. Mine was Brilliant Black with the blue and black seats and LHD as well. Lovely car.
I've always had an affinity for "estate" cars and IMHO nobody has done the "super estate" quite like Audi. I'm a BMW and Porsche guy at heart but the RS estate cars are fantastic. The regular wagons (or regular Audi's for that matter) don't do much for me, but when you had the "RS" it's a completely different beast. Unfortunately we've never been able to experience these cars when brand new like the Europeans. Almost reason enough in itself to consider a permanent relocation to the other side of the pond. Great car and great video. Petrolicious keeps banging out quality week after week!
Dominiq Akoraa the '18 Audi RS series is a new platform. Mr JWW just did a review recently of his RS7 wagon that he uses as a DD. That car is fantastic.
Love the Petrolicious channel, love the Audi RS2 (I have an '02 S6), but this spotlight was a real let down. So little about this amazing car & incredible engine...too much '80s-ish muzak and the owner's emotional journey (no disrespect to the owner)...
Can be imported here next year, I'm sure it's going to be "one of those cars" on our wish list🇺🇸 Love what he said about it being old enough to be a classic but modern enough to be driven everyday, perfect! Let also remember the size and that GLORIOUS engine ===========
Thank you for doing the RS2. I am a die hard Saab and Volvo guy but there is no other car that would make me abandon my Swedes so readily as this car would.
I agree with the "quite unique driving experience"... Full boost at 3500 RPM, until then you have like 100 HP, thirsty as crazy compared to standard S2, parts are not available or crazy expensive from Audi Museum (450 euro water pump), many optical elements (like trim under headlight) not available anymore, not reliable car... etc... Thank you Audi for helping us maintaining our cars. It's a blast!
What a beauty you have one your hands. Congrats. I have a a b7 s4 avant & people always compliment it. Mean little 400hp wagon. Looking to build the block & s/c it. 🤞
That is one piece of film art to picture this hopelessly dull interiored, not too well aged boxy plasicky audi the way it evokes emotions like the dying puppy.
You are also a ski trainer just like Walter Röhrl has been! By the way.... My grandfather's car was a 1988 Passat Variant my first car was a 1995 Passat wich is a perfect every day car but now I drive a 3.0TDi A6 Avant Quattro with 239BHP and this is magnificent in every way
"Just like modern cars aren't built anymore". Damn right nail on the head, modern cars are just so dull electronic and boring and virtually none of them are unique anymore. All are made from the same mould and shape just with proportions changed and nearly all have exactly the same components underneath across manufacturers.
It's just an opinion. Old cars are just like you describe new cars. Just pieces of their own time. Only thing boring in new cars (imho) is just they are too complicated on electronics and coding, to work on them you need equipment and computer software worth of a house. Last decade cars were the best. Modern tech but still relatively easily workable on electronic side.
I don't understand why THIS, the RS2, isn't the mold for all cars that have come after it. Not to big, not too small, practical and fun - what more could anyone ask for?
the RS4 B5 is like that, i drive one and love it. But, after that, there wasn't anymore to come
Since the A3/S3/RS3 are getting longer and longer we may see a RS3 Avant or the "Sportsback" will reach the length of the S2/RS2 . The 5cylinder Turbo engine of the Rs3 is quite awesome.
2017-2018 Volvo V60 Polestar might be the smallest sports wagon you could find in the market
Timmy C but those are transverse isn’t it? Iirc, rs2 is longitudinal
This is the B5 S4/RS4. If you look at B8 B9 S4/RS4, they're quite long and a true sedan. B5 were more compact
Petrolicious videos : Proof that fairy tales and love story are real ! Love it.
My father in law had an Audi 4000 Quattro Sedan, black on black with an in line 5 cylinder engine, 5 speed transmission and front and rear locking diffs - that car was amazing!
this is one of the best cars Audi ever made in my opinion.
Yes it is, maybe in copmpanion with Audi A6 C4 S6 2.2 20V
Not saying much by Audi's standards.
But it is made by Porsche!
What. A. Dude. Hats off to Mark. Great to see an RS2 being driven like that.
Fuck...this made me cry😅 sad to see old cars being old cars...like they look so much better than new models its crazy...
Hello. You do not get enough of these cars no matter how many years pass. And every Audi Quattro has its charm.
This is mother of all modern Audis...it all comes to this.
Then the Audi Quattro is the father.
Nope, can't agree with your comment
It’s definitely the embodiement of Audi Sport as we know it today, but Audi as a whole comes down to the original Quattro.
LOVED THIS EVEN THE AUDI 80 WAS GREAT
When i hear Audi i think about 4 doors, sedan or a wagon, diesel. RS2, is the closest to being the typical Audi, but also smth special. while Quattro is just something from a driffrent opera. Quattro is amazing but rs2 is more Audi, then quattro will ever be.
Great editing, but you guys dropped the ball on this one. That Porsche Tuned 5cylinder sings, not enough recording of that engine in the video.
I concur.
I third this observation
me fourth.
Me 5th. More car noise.
This might help:

This is my all time dream car. The style of the Porsche collaboration. The 5 cylinders sound. A true sport wagon and I love everything about em
I love ppl that are so pasionate about their cars
bondar ovidiu i always talk about mine at work. Think im the same haha.
I love fast stick shift wagons, they are so cool.
Ive got an 03 wrx wagon. Definitely not as powerful as the RS2 but its still tons of fun!
maxxjett films CTS-V wagon is a 640hp beast with a manual 😍
@@javanbybee4822 Just dont take it near any snow Mr Clorox
Jolinator yeh good idea but it’d be fun drift in snow 😂
I love fast stick shift wagons, they are so cool.
5 door Porsche wagon. Yes please.
They took too long to remake it, Porsche Panamera Estate.
Stefan Gossler that's also a really cool car. But the 90s vibe from this thing really does it for me.
I love that he actually drives this, regardless of the rising value.
It brings tears to my eyes seeing this. I own a Audi 80 TDI Avant and indeed it's a very fast and economical wagon. Very good ground clearance very good reliability and plenty of space. What a legend of a car!

24 years old Audi and still kickin'
The dual-tone 5-cyl sound is just so entoxicating.
Speechless. This particular vehicle is a legend, which laid the foundation and served as engineering example for all high-powered station wagons for centuries to come. This is what I call German engineering.
Beautiful car, looks great with the ski rack on top. Makes you want to take a ski trip every day.
FINALLY! My dream car on this channel!
That's the way I fell in love with the S3, a friend of mine let me borrow her S3 for the week while my wife and I went on holiday to Wales. I came back after that holiday and 2 months later bought an S3 of my own.

This car is a legend ! The 2.2 5 cyl and the RWD biased quattro made 80-90's Audis so good :)
I’m addicted to this YT channel. These car stories are absolutely amazing!
Cool car, and stunning cinematography! Good job as usual guys!
i don't know man, digital stabilization could have been smoother on 3:09
Even the 2.6E V6 Engine in my Quattro Avant is stunning. A RS2 is a nearly unreachable Goal what a lucky guy!
I wasn't expecting to fall in love today but here we are. What a car...
This is the first video I watched when I was introduced to your channel...just trying to find a retro review on the RS2, then I stumbled across you guys. That was back in 2018, still watching you guys today!
ugggg fast wagons always have a place in my heart. so practical in every sense especially the AWD ones for our canadian winters. great video
A nice story about the Audi RS2 - Audi Most Important Car and how the RS cars begin, well done.
As an estate car owner myself I can say that this clip was the perfect description of a purposeful car.
Awesome video, awesome car and dream like location. Bravo!
I'm not an Audi fan at all but I cannot disrespect this piece of art! It's incredible - the car and the video itself!
Together with the Quattro one of the best Audi's ever made
The RS2 launches like a slingshot
Yeah. I recall the RS2 had the production car record for fastest 0-30mph when it released
Which of you lot out there gave this a thumbs down? I will put you straight. This is the HOLY GRAIL of all fast estates, and I'm glad it's getting its time in the spotlight.
Dear Petrolicious, Thank you for EVERYTHING you do. And PLEASE never stop doing what you do. ❤❤
if only Audi hadn't put the entire engine itself in-front of the front wheels lol. legendary car, everyone loves all the little Porsche touches and that 5-cyldiner.

Im not a german car fan but I do like this car a lot. For me its one of the best german cars of all time and one of the better looking german cars.
This and the RS4 Avant B4 are the most beautiful Audis ever made
For me the RS2 and the Urquattro would be my highest wish to own. Have had more than 40 different Audi’s
I've always had an affinity for "estate" cars and IMHO nobody has done the "super estate" quite like Audi. I'm a BMW and Porsche guy at heart but the RS estate cars are fantastic. Eric Hakanson Mercedes E63 wagon is far and above (performance wise) any wagon offered by BMW/Audi ever.
Shannon Sofield lol absolute bullshit!
at the moment. Just because Audi's rs6 is outdated
Dominiq Akoraa the '18 Audi RS series is a new platform. Mr JWW just did a review recently of his RS7 wagon that he uses as a DD. That car is fantastic.
indeed it is. Can't wait for it. Prefer AMG sound a tad more though.
I love my 2001 allroad, its not fast but for those who know it is amazing. It does everything well and it stands out in the crowd.
Beautiful video! I see a lot of love for this great car....the best Audi RS ever built.... Amazing super icon car!
it definetly is an under-rated car !! Legend Vehicle!!! Take Care of it mate you're driving a priceless masterpiece!!
About time you showcase an Audi on this channel.
I owned one of those from 2000 to 2004. Fantastic car! I still miss it :(
We all need a friend like Rob
Wow, what a car...she is amazing....
and great job keeping her so nice!
She looks so happy that you own and drive and ski with her~~~
Easily one of the most beautiful cars bar the S1, Stunning
Stunning car. Stunning scenery. Stunning musical accompaniment.
and this is what audi was doing 4 years before my a4 was built, this is why i love audis
I have two RS2 in original conditions and perfect shape, both are used every week. Great cars!!!
Wow its a piece of art. But I wonder where is this elegance in the modern day cars. Not even close.
Love the Petrolicious channel, love the Audi RS2 (I have an '02 S6), but this spotlight was a real let down. So little about this amazing car & incredible engine...too much '80s-ish muzak and the owner's emotional journey (no disrespect to the owner)...
So nearly bought one some 20 yrs ago.
Fabulous video.
One perfect Audi!
Once again your videos are awesome, you can see the passion in every driver & I think it's all about that. Perfect!
This review reminds me of my Subaru Liberty (Legacy) RS Turbo Wagon from the same era, right down to the snow trips and everyday usability! Cheers.
I love wagons.
Wish there were more on the market today.
Can be imported here next year, I'm sure it's going to be "one of those cars" on our wish list🇺🇸 Love what he said about it being old enough to be a classic but modern enough to be driven everyday, perfect! Let also remember the size and that GLORIOUS engine ===========

Yep. I really dont like turbo lag. So I got V8 urS6 Avant. Somewhat beaten, but even after restoration it will be cheaper then RS2
I had an RS2 white, it was the love of my life.
Such a great car. Looks awesome with the ski rack and the snowy landscape.
the best Audi ever!!
Great video, great location, great editing, all this for a LEGEND!!
I live in this town, i have seen this rs2 in a road thousands times!
Je suis amoureux avec sa voiture!!!
Nice car
yeah, nice car indeed.
So cool!
This car is the only car you’ll ever need, does everything and ticks every box.
Stunning, that’s all that needs to be said.
This car, to me, is what old school domestic Audi was all about. None of this VAG copy/paste shit nowadays.
Love the RS2. Wish we still got the hot Avant's like in the 90's
My God, how much I love this car!
My dream car, that after an S1 short wheelbase Quattro. Thanks for the video
5:05 he understands how a the hatch on a audi is supposed to be closed. Good man!
HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY DISLIKE THIS VIDEO?!
Audi rs2+snow+petrolicius=perfection
Nice to see one of these being actually put to use, rather than being babied or dying in some private collection.
Such a refreshing film - get more UK guys on here!
What a beauty you have one your hands. Congrats. I have a a b7 s4 avant & people always compliment it. Mean little 400hp wagon. Looking to build the block & s/c it. 🤞
My favorite Audi. I've been in love ever since Autoweek ran a test on one when they first came out.
Man, I love those RS2s.
I know nothing about cinematograhy but damn amazing
Beautiful. My dream car. Then a SWB Quatrro.
Music is way too loud compared to his voice. As usual...
Use headphones my man, the sound is fine
Headphone user; music could be turned down a notch or two
^ That's a bit harsh...

Sitting in garage *looks at my B5*...I tip my hat to you sir.
1min I’m lost. Wait. RS2; yes. Shaaat up m8. Straight to video of the Rs2.

Love this wagon! Makes me miss my '92 Passat GL.
One of the best videos I've seen! Lovely car, words are just not enough!
It has always been my dream car.
Such a stunning Motor, and in the best setting too! Great video thanks.
Such a beauty, really rare car!
Favorite for ever !!! RS2 Legends ♡

Il parle bien Anglais notre chère compatriote ! J'adore la RS2 que dire du son du 5 cylindres..
