I just found out that all pkgd turmeric has a lot of "lead" in the spice.. ugh.. I went and bought the root and im going to do what you have done... Thank you💫
Basic science: when you boil a herb, spice, or root, you extract the minerals. So, you just poured the minerals down the drain. Therefore, you're getting less than half of the actual Tumeric. The best way to PRESERVE its potency is to bake it at 200-degrees for 20-minutes. Baking it will preserve the nutrients. Unless it's an egg, which the shell protects and preserves the nutrients when you boil anything else you're extracting its mineral concentration. The result is that you're now just eating a colorful powder.
I would suggest to wash and dry and grind so it won’t lose the essence . Curcumin is active ingredient found in turmeric which has very good antibacterial properties
Thanks for this video. There are other videos too with boiling turmeric as a procedure. But your video is more informative. Curing involves boiling the rhizomes in water for 45 min to one hour, until froth appears at the surface, the typical turmeric aroma is released, and the rhizomes become soft. This is done to gelatinise the starch so the rhizomes dry more uniformly, reducing drying time). This information is from the net.
I have dried the turmeric after curing and chopping into thin slices. However, after 2 days of drying it is still having moisture and it feels a little sticky to touch. Is this normal?
Im so sorry about your experience dearie 🙏 It seems the sun wasn't hot enough to dry it faster hence it has begun to ferment. Check to see if it has formed mold and if not, give it a rinse and dry it again in the oven on very low heat
Nice video. Keep it up 👍. I would suggest not to put any music in background. It is not making interesting. Just disturbance. We cannot hear your voice.
Thank you so much. Yes you can dry it in the oven, it's even dries faster that way and ginger powder can be made using the same process. By the way here is how to make ginger powder: ruclips.net/video/KSWqNrRZNg8/видео.html

I think you followed the correct procedure. Final product looks fantastic. I played video in 2x and I did get the gist of the video. Ps I thought my speaker volume was low. 😁 Liked video. Subscribed too

I was thinking that
That’s what I thought. Look at all the orange nutrients going down the drain.
Thats true
You could also grate the tumeric and sun dry it and grind it to make a powder
I wonder why you throw the water when you finished boiling. So. What's the use?

I always grate raw tumeric then put it to dry but now I am going to try it your way
Is your turmeric powder is good by that way
Two things to ask.
1. Can't we process it without boiling?
2. What's is final output weight of the powder for 1kg of roots ?
Water content of tumeric ia around 25%ish
Just wash the turmeric, then dehydrate it
Grind and sieve after. When you bowl it,it loses nutrients
Steaming
Love ittt!!. I use root turmeric & ginger to make goldenmilk. Now I'm goin to try this Thank you for this video..
Wow, good to know. You're highly welcome
I order Amazon the Turmeric whole Haldi from Rani is hard as a rock, do you know what I could do???? This will ruin my blender!!!!! Help please
How many days can i use the home made powder ?
Could this be just dry it on the stove and just bring if
Why it has to be boil it?
You can still make it without boiling it first, boiling is another method of making the turmeric powder, it helps increase the bright colour
You should never Boil the turmeric in water.. it should be Steamed ❤️
may i ask what's the need to boil?
It deepens the orange color and reduces the raw smell. It you don't mind any of this, no need of boiling.
@@OnyxFoodHill thank you
Is it possible for me to use blender?
Is this the same turmeric powder for tea?
Yes, it is
Great video, how long will the powder last for please?
I do use mine up to 3 months when ever I make it
Steaming is even better than boiling.... Better retention of Curcumin

Oven dry on lo temp if you don't have a dehydrater
How long is the tumeric gonna take to dry in the sun?
You can dry in the oven low temp

Yes you can still grind the roots without boiling, boiling only helps to enhance the colour and reduce the raw smell of the turmeric roots
@@skinnydee1886 is it long lasting & cause no harm if we do not boil it......
As traditional methods require boiling
@@skinnydee1886 thank you. I love your information.

You can dry it in the sun or oven
Very interesting lesson. Thanks for your lecture

Better grind raw turmeric rather than grinding boiled turmeric as boiled turmeric may loose natural quality and curcumin contents...
raw turmeric cannot be grinded in mixy grinder available in home. any alternative suggestion bro ?
@@lalithacp4603 make it small pieces and grind in wet grinder
Raw turmeric never dry ,even in small pieces, turmeric have to be little boiled before drying
Steam the turmeric, without boiling them.
It's lose, not loose!
WOW!! You have a beautiful voice!
How can we maintain the yellow colour or the concentration curcumin content of turmeric slices when it is sun dried??
Is there any solution??
Thank you for this effort 💝
