I learned of the passing of our colleague, scientist, leader and friend when I came into work on Tuesday morning. The sense of loss is tempered for me by the fond memories, personal help that Larry lent to me, and leadership at the Division of Perinatal Biology. Larry had a good run at life, biomedical science and contributions to this School of Medicine. He will be missed by all of us. In keeping with Larry’s “persevere” spirit, I am happy to continue that tradition with the colleagues and friends that serve with me here at LLUSM.

Dr. Longo was a remarkable person. He has impacted women and children for generations with his research on tobacco, diet, and exercise. I will miss seeing him in the A-Level hallway and asking about currentresearch and how his latest running expedition had gone. I hope his name remains on his door to honor his legacy! Blessings to his family.

I wrote two science papers with this man. He was a wonderful supporter of exercise and pregnancy. A great person!

although now dealing with another world-defined standard other than the one envisioned by the co-founder of LLUH, this same co-founder stated that this institution WILL BE of the highest order, & dr. Longo's accomplishments have certainly been a major part of that prophetic fulfillment.
