Young men having to fight and die for the older men. Aka young confederate soldiers dying for slave owners, when they might not even support slavery themselves. Or the German soldier, who basically had 2 choices only. You went to the Army, or you died. This situation is hard to understand but trust me, it happened. Calling every German Soldier a “Nazi” is like calling every American soldier a Confederate.
After 9 long months of arguing, here’s to elaborate.
I’m making the comparison between the mentality. Young men having to fight and die for the older men. Aka young confederate soldiers dying for slave owners, when they might not even support slavery themselves.
Or the German soldier, who basically had 2 choices only. You went to the Army, or you died. This situation is hard to understand but trust me, it happened. Not everyone in the German Army was a rapist, a war criminal, or some Hitler lover. Just a young man, fathers, sons, husbands, boyfriends, brothers, they each had a family and it got taken from them because a radical government who plunged the country into war.

My OPA "grandfather" fought from 1938 till 1945 for Deutschland. He was an intel officer and his last battle was somewhere in Russia. He watched men literally freeze to death as they waited for the next wave of Russian soldiers to attack. Luckily he worked closely with his commanding General who saved his life. His general came to him one day near the end of the war and said "I am sending you back to Berlin. The war is over and we will be over run by the Russians soon. You are my friend and I don't want you to die. You have fought bravely since the beginning of the war and it is time for you to return to your family." My grandfather was exhausted from war and didn't protest. They saluted each other one last time and then shock hands. The last words he spoke to my grandfather was "I will miss you my dear friend". My grandfather left for Berlin and within a week his whole division was wiped out. Many years later he finally found one other soldier who survived from this division. Most were killed or captured never to be heard from again. My father was an American soldier who married my mother when he was stationed in Germany. In the early 80's my grandfather came here to the US to visit us. My father asked the VFW if it was ok for him to bring my grandfather there. They said excitedly "yes"! I'm German, though I am glad that we lost the war, I can't help but appreciate those veterans who loved the fatherland enough to fight for it, however reprehensible the motivations and goals of the party in power were. My grandfather from my mother's side joined the
Heer in 1937 as an officer in signals so working with communication equipment.
And the grandfather from The Father's Side worked as a postman until 1941 when the SS asked him to follow them to their headquarters she followed and was given a couple beers and coerced into enlisting in the SS she quickly sobered up afterwards and sign to be a medic in the combat portion of the SS.
The signals officer survive the war and surrender to British soldiers with his men and died 2 years ago. And the SS medic by the end of the war was an NCO he tried surrendering to the Americans as him and his unit figured out the situation was going downhill and everything was falling apart but the Americans shot at them they did they figured the rest of the western allies would do the same and that the Soviets they already knew what they were going to do so they hopped in a truck drove and surrender to Swedish border guards near the Swedish and Norwegian border.
I had a lot of family in the military during the war one was a military musician one was a mechanic in the Luftwaffe one of my grandmother's volunteered for a anti-air defense crew. And we had one who was a brown shirt he was the only one who was severely wounded near the end of the war he wasn't one of the local party buildings destroying papers and folding up Flags when a female Soviet Soldier stumbled into the building and ran into him causing him to fall and hit his head which blinded him in one eye but the Soviet Soldier Twisted her ankle on her way down as well in that moment the brown shirt and the female Soviet Soldier formed an unlikely Bond they communicated with each other they are writing with a pencil on a piece of paper because the brown shirt could understand Russian but could not speak it very well but he could write it they came to an agreement the Soviet Soldier would wait until the brown shirt destroyed the papers and in turn the brown shirt would surrender and help the Soviet Soldier walk back to their lines

For all you folks that need to read a history book, I don't see SS emblems on his uniform. This man fought with honor for his country
Yeah, he was a paratrooper
Under the Eagle is a swastika, part of the uniform I suppose...
@@rockabyebaby6111 you suppose correctly. The "Reichsadler" (Imperial Eagle) is part of every German uniform at that time. The "Hakenkreuz" (swastika), "im Eichenkranz" (standing in oak leaves), belongs in the claws of the eagle.
Greetings from Germany
he wasnt SS
This is the most interesting video. The respect between enemies shows how we are all humans.
The German uniforms are really good looking because Hugo boss made them
A very common misunderstanding. Hugo Boss did not make any Nazi Uniform
No, they did not.
That was the ss uniforms not the wermatch uniforms
The one responsible for the Wehrmacht uniforms is Hugo Boss
But the one who made the SS ones was Karl Diebitsch

I feel sorry for him.... but it good to see two soldiers from different sides talking and moving forward together
It's a beautiful sight to see two veteran warriors sharing time together and exchanging idle conversation. Respect should be shown towards both men as they were both warriors of their time and stood for what they believed to be right and stuck to their convictions till one was ultimately crowned victorious. Being ex-service myself, It makes me smile with pride to see how these men act like gentlemen after all these years after enduring some terrible wartime theatre. I salute you both.
Nazi
My grandfather was an American paratrooper, he said these men were the hardest to dig out and the hardest to out fight. When they surrendered they marched out with what wounded they had and asked how they lost to so few. He told the man we were not willing to quit till the last round was gone either. He then gave him a chocolate bar and smokes to share with his group as he was led to the MPs and into captivity.
I honor your grandfather 🫡
It’s nice to see that no matter what the past is people from all over still get along
Yes, the regalia, and attention to detail was awesome. Uniforms were "chock" full of unit and rank details....loved the cover
Yes, a German veteran allowed to carry his uniform and medals. Nice
In germamy he would end up in jail thaks to left winged "persons"
@@2fame4name24 i know. That's because the "left wing" supporters believe that if you where a German soldier during WW2 you where an Nazi and supporter of Hitler. Not thinking maybe it was loyalty to Germany that made Them fight. Another example of this if i remember correctly. Robert E. Lee was not a fan of slavery, supporter of the union. And did not believe that the south could survive without the north. But he still fought for the Confederate states, why? Because he could not make himself fight his homestate of virginia. Clear example of setting aside political beliefs for national loyalty or pride.

respect to this man and all the others soldiers used in the elites sick power games.
97alexk Actually given his age and uniform he was more than likely forced through conscription
Not an expert on this, but i would imagine that fallschirmjägers were not conscripted, but rather chosen either by the elites. It just feels like one must prove to be a good soldier to be worth dropping behind enemy lines and survive, and that would be assured by picking the best. Also equipment was costly for those guys, many kg's of shit on them.

It’s also the caliber of a famous gun in WW2, the 8.8 or eighty eight.

I would have loved to sit down with that Veteran Fallschirmjäger, and talk with him. Its one thing to talk and converse with an American veteran, but a German one is a whole different scale.
R.I.P to EVERYONE that fell in WW2.
But siting down and conversing with both sides would be the ultimate event, getting accounts on both sides. I'm a huge history buff, and that would be awesome.
The Fallschirmjäger were the paratrooper branch of the German Luftwaffe before and during World War II. They were the first German paratroopers to be committed in large-scale airborne operations.
