This video is about a time I got hurt. I don't know how much of the video I should explain without spoiling it. Then again who reads the youtube description before watching the video? If you are that person: hello. You are using youtube wrong. You will be dealt with accordingly.
This video took too long. I could have been done with it months ago but I kept second guessing myself and rerecording the audio and reformatting and blah blah blah. It was a terrible work flow and I think for future videos I need to just embrace imperfection and commit to what I have (if I don't want to take literally half a year to post something). The problem is that embracing imperfection is HARD. I said I would do the same thing in the last video and look where that got us.
Anyway I have a flight to catch literally today so I'm glad I crunched this out and got it posted. I hope you are also glad, and I also hope you enjoy the video.

This video is brilliant. I am a teacher and today this 15 year-old oy came into my classroom crying. He just sat down, and I didn't want to draw any attention to him because the other kids in class would have made fun of him. Instead, I introduced them to this video. By the end of the video, the boy's tears dried up and he was smiling and laughing along with the rest of the class. Thanks for this video, it made a big impact. Definitely showing more of these to them in future! 😁

"Just a sprain". My guy doesn't realise that genuine ligament sprains are more painful and even take longer to heal than broken bones...
Doctor said its a bad sprain, but it turns out my ligament snapped and in the process tore off a shard of bone. Also I had this happen three times bc i'm also dumb so walking is not my main skill now.
@@Kisorimosz yep. ligament breaks are horrific. bones were built to break and heal, ligaments were not. if it’s happened 3 times do you know if you are hypermobile possibly?
@@HazaHyperion The first two caused no problem after healing, but the third one was the worst. I even had to take blood thinners to not form blood clots, my whole foot were purple. But range of motion decreased instead of hypermobility, its very tight in bad weather. I can only run with a limp since.

You should see me on a wet pool raft. I just go slip with no friction whatsoever. I also have never broken a bone. I have also never had to go to the hospital for means not expected and had me be the one in trouble. Never passed out/fainted/blacked out, never had a cavity, no stitches, no sprains, nothing. I have gotten hurt but I have always gotten back up due to either stupidity or my need to suck up pain and walk it off. This made me think about what it is like getting the wind knocked out of me or someone else and sounding like a sick whale for 30 seconds as your friends and family are trying to talk to you.

I easily understand what you felt. When I was a child, while I was practicing Full Contact, I fall on wooden parquet and hit my elbow really really hard. I thought it was broken and couldn’t move it at all during all the afternoon. But in fact I just hit the nerves of my elbow, that’s why it was so painfull. 😅

The pain isn’t actually that bad, I broke my arm, it was a quick *snap* pain and then my arm went jelly. The only pain I got was when I tried to move it too much or rotate it.

There is a certain threshold where pain hits its max, it's mostly the fear of breaking it in a lot of different places at once or having too much shock in an area of pain. I imagine if children break their bones daily and don't die from it, it can't be that bad.
I broke my forearm falling off of my bicycle and i didn't even notice until i tried to stand up, and yeah, the worst is dealing with the cast

yeah there's this weird thing where broken bones go... numb. Like it hurts at first but then it goes completely numb and you can't move it. It's having the bone put back in place by the doctor that REALLY hurts.

I broke my arm and I remember looking down and I could see bonebits coming through and I thought "Uhm... that's not right" and then it started bleeding and it started hurting like crazy and I cried a ton and died a little inside. I was like around 13 and was JUST about finished with this triathalon thing at my camp. I swam and then fell off while biking. Not something I'm bound to forget, that's for sure.
I’ve fractured my wrist and toe the wrist was fine but I had to have three injections into my toe and have it pulled into place.
I have not broke a bone before ^-^ I have fractured my finger v.v and my hand went numb from the ice as I was getting drove to the hospital! That’s all I remember

I’ve only broken one bone, it didn’t hurt as much as stepping on legos.
Actually, fun fact: Some sprains, specifically those in the ankle, hurt way worse than breaks. Ankles are one of the parts of the body that has the most force and pressure put on it, so when the ligaments are stretched or broken in that specific area, it really freaking hurts. Ankle sprains can also leave someone with pain for months or years, up until even the rest of their life, since even after it heals, the effects of the sprain can sometimes leave permanent scars on the ligaments in your ankle.

As someone who got a hairline fracture in a similar way to the first story (I fell backwards and my foot went under my back and then landed on my back, on my foot with all my weight). That pain would have likely been the exact same level of intensity as what you experienced maybe minimally worse by a skosh.

True fact. Have had both. Displaced femoral fracture, ankle sprain.
Didn't even know I broke my femur until I tried to crawl off the racing line and my left knee felt like it was sinking into mud. It was the bone sliding into my butt muscles. Hence, displaced.
Ankle still doesn't work right. Leg is fine after some screws.
Ankle was from long jump in high school, leg was from motorcycle racing. So yes, I believe high school track and field is a more dangerous sport than motorcycle racing.

I've broken a bone before, it surprisingly doesn't hurt as much as you think it would. I've had sprains more painful haha
Sad info: Sprains never actually heal all the way. The tendons and ligaments (things that hold muscles to bones and hold bones to bones, respectively) are like cheap, old stretch pants; if you stretch 'em too far they never ever go back as tight as they should. I royally fubar'd my ankle tripping on a pillow fort and falling up some stairs (which is how you know you're talented, when you fall UP the stairs) in 2007. It's been 13 years and that sucker still hurts if I stand on it wrong. Or sleep on it wrong. Or look at it funny.

I just a have a small collection, as a kid succeeded to break my arm once, fracture once and dislocate once. I don't really remember any of their pain tho, yet can't compare one to other. But recently I kicked a streetlamp as hard as I can and was limping while trying to run and still have a funny feeling when point my toetips straight down.

True... I sprained my wrist once at the skatepark and was 100% sure it was broken, because it hurt more than when I got hit by a car and broke multiple bones... I broke the same wrist falling up some stairs a couple years later and went 3 months without going to the doctor because I was sure it was just a minor sprain... Ended up having to get surgery and found out what hurts worse than breaking or spraining something is when the nerve block wears off after they pull a bone back together and put a screw in it...

When I broke my finger (pinkie), however, it just felt like I smacked it really hard on something. It didn't hurt lol
@Yotecai Luz I don't think my bone came thru the skin but when I got hit by a car but it broke both bones in my lower leg (shit was L shaped), both bones in my forearm, and fucked some ligaments in my neck up pretty good (they still pop when I turn my head)... I also landed about 25 feet from where I got hit... The only thing I remember the doctor saying to me when I got to the hospital is "You shouldn't be alive"... I was in a wheelchair for a few months... I have had bad sprains in my wrist and ankle and both hurt worse than getting hit by the car...
Agreed. Although it depends on the severity and location of the injury. From experience the main cause of pain from both my elbows breaking and having various sprains is due to the swelling. Once that had gone the only pain came from disturbing the injury. Appendicitis is still way more painful.

I sprained my ankle once and I have a huge scar on my ankle and its glorious.
I shattered my elbow once in Kindergarten because I tried sliding down a spiral slide, except I thought it was a good idea to try side saddle my way down, it's important to note that I had excess fluid in my brain at this time which made it really hard for me to balance because my head was heavy, which caused me to fall over whenever I tipped my head. Anyways, I was on the slide near the top, I sat on the side, and I tipped my head back and it caused my body to go with it. My right elbow slammed into the metal pole next to the slide and I fell to the ground and blacked out. When I woke up, there was a crowd of kids around me and it took me a second to register what was going on. When I finished processing, I felt a sharp surge of pain and I screamed.

Recently, my mom was mowing the grass, and when the blade clogged, she accidentally got a small chunk of her right index finger lopped off. Now, I can understand this happening, she didn't think to turn the lawn mower off, which she probably wasn't entirely thinking about at the moment. Either way, when she was driven to the hospital by ambulance, instead of getting seen immediately, she had to wait in pain, almost the entire night to get seen. Her finger got infected during that wait, and she lost more of her finger than what she would have if she was seen right away. When the doctor saw her, she was told that he had only been notified around 5 minutes ago.

As someone who has done something nearly identical, and also broken a bone (two separate incidents) I would describe it as a very similar feeling at first, but you're very high on adrenaline/in shock when the bone breaks. It eventually gets way, way worse when you lose the adrenaline high and you have to learn how not to move your broken appendage in order to not make the pain even worse.
