    I swear that people listen with their eyes. They see anything saying solid state and they automatically say “it sounds compressed” “it sounds brittle” “no tubes no tone”. This amp sounds great. If you don’t like solid state tone then don’t use any pedals and check your amp circuit to make sure it’s “pure tube tone” because a lot of amps use solid state components

      For years the only failing with solid state amps was they don’t naturally distort they clip. Harsh 3rd harmonics that aren’t musical. Their cleans were still very good (eg JC120) These TMs are modelling amps that can mimic the natural tube distortion that occurs when the tube gets pushed past its linear operating region and do great cleans

      Yes and no. Im one of those thats open to solid state stuff. I like it acc. But in comparison the tone masters do sound a little 2d and less three dimensional. I also think they got somethings wrong. On a tube amp the eq changes as the volume increases and you need to work with the eq to get the sound. On a tone master you don’t which is good and bad. On the one hand you can keep your controls set and nothing will change with volume. But on the other the tube amps fill the mids in and give you a lovely midrange that the tm don’t. I’d like to see fender work that into things. If they can make it behave like the real thing then they can actually say they did it because the behaviour and sound are linked. Rn it’s close enough to meet 95% of players needs and can be your only amp. Im open to buying one used but I’d buy this as a primary for every use followed by a very nice small tube amp for the warmth when i want it. Probably something like a champ with a 10 inch speaker. The problem with tubes is that most people dont have a place to play them. Small are too quiet for gigs medium amps don’t have enough headroom and are too loud at home and big amps are too loud for gigs and home use. Every guitar player need something like this. Most will get katanas but i like simplicity and thats too many options. I wouldn’t even buy a pedal if it has more than three knobs

    This was my first serious amp purchase. I have not been disappointed. Unless you are in a location where you can crank the equivalent tube amp fully up, I think the Tonemaster is a better amp for most people because of the built in attenuator, the digital output, and its low weight.

    I love mine! All the tone, all the volume, a third of the weight, and none of the tube-amp moodiness. The DI recording output/IR is phenomenal, and it takes pedals like the classic Twins. It's a winner for sure!

    If you folks have a Blonde version with the Celestion speakers I'd like to hear a comparison. It's an extra £40 by MSRP, likely not a deal breaker to someone considering an amp in that price range, so it really comes down to the relative sounds of the Jensen and Celestion speakers.

    • @christophervincent8420
      @christophervincent8420 5 месяцев назад +3

      I have the Blonde version of the Deluxe reverb. It is an absolute delight. In my opinion, to even use a quote from a Country Guitar player that was Brad Paisley's roommate in college and was even part of his band when his hit "I'm gonna miss her" said. "This is a much more convincing Deluxe Reverb than the other one." It is that good. The Blonde Twin takes pedals much better than the black one. Also, with the Celestion speakers, it has a better mid range. They cut through the mix better if you are in a band as well.

    I stood right in front of Tab Benoit’s Twin at at the House of Blues in New Orleans once. He played a couple thin line Tele deluxe into that old Twin basically dimed . I didn’t know those amps would break up . They will it was so loud and glorious and he got every tone he needed out of it with his guitar’s volume and tone knobs and his touch oh man did he have a touch, my ears rang for a week, and I’m a metal head but Tab Benoit is the best guitar player I’ve ever seen live the dude blew my mind!

    I’m saving up for the TM Princeton. Living around non guitar playing neighbors now and the tube supply issue I just couldn’t justify the tube counterpart anymore😢
    Even with my bulky external attenuator which was just more cords to deal with I couldn’t ever justify something like it anymore.
    The TM line is genius as it’s one amp made with modern technology made to do ONE emulation really damn well.
    Most solid state amps try to do and or add everything but they don’t really do it well in my opinion.
    The built in attenuation is so great! I do wish the MSRP was lower for what they are though 😅

  • @TwoWrights

    I work in a recording studio and we use a lot of different amps, including original Twin Reverbs. The TM Twin is better overall for studio recording purposes because you can double mic the amp while also sending the line out to the desk. You have more recordings to blend together so you can really refine the sound you want without having to record seperate takes. Also, the weight is a huge factor. You get a lot of bang for your buck with this amp.

  • @AprioriMarcos
    @AprioriMarcos 5 месяцев назад +2

    This is my favorite of the TM series, having owned and gigged all of them. I find it dangerously close to my vintage tube Twins, except the reverb. It also weighs less, has XLR out, and you can attenuate it to any room. If you only buy one TM amp, make it this one. It can go bedroom to outdoor stage.

      People love spending money. You can buy any cheap modeller and get this sound but THIS one sounds better for reasons.
      Fender brought out their own modeller but that is old now and this one trick pony is new, so lets all buy one. Rather than get good on the instrument, guitarists will buy crap to make them sound good. As we all know the guitar and amps were perfected in the 1950s.

    • @AprioriMarcos

      Hard disagree. I've owned all the Tonemaster amps, and have owned *and gigged* tons of vintage Fender amps. My 73 Super Reverb has been my go-to for 32 years.
      That said, the Tonemaster Twin legit lives up to the marketing BS. I've got late 60s and early 70s Twins at the moment, and this keeps up. When you consider the weight, attenuation, and XLR out, this smokes a real Twin... except for the reverb.
      The TM Deluxe is ok, but I didn't care for the Super (still have it hoping for updates), and HATED the Princeton. All the amps have reverb thats nowhere near as good as real spring reverb.
      Real world subjective opinion based on tons of use (100s of gigs with the TM Twin and even more with vintage tube Twins). Don't believe the hype or the hate; these are legit good.

      @@tiomkinnyborg2289 Cheap modeler doesn't get you this sound. For that you'd have to add a power amp and proper speaker cab to hear it. Essentially you'd be building a component piecemeal ToneMaster, albeit with other sounds available too. If all you do is direct recording ok...but the beauty of having an amp is the glorious sounds it makes in the room.

    • @tiomkinnyborg2289
      @tiomkinnyborg2289 5 месяцев назад

      @@tonray9395 It is funny. One day everyone is saying how great the TM, ToneX, Ampero, etc is and that is all you need. Forgetting that you need an amp for people to hear you. Today this comes out and you need an amp for people to hear you and this sounds great in a room. Do you gig in that room? Do you not need to mic up an amp/guitar to record it?
      All of these products just exist to sell you something new. Tomorrow it will be another magical pedal that will make you sound like god, or a new guitar with super tonewood. Fender need your money as do all manufacturers. So the shill train and the masses will lap this up. Can anyone hear a difference in a mix? Will it make a difference to the listener? No.
