    I’m new to Air Guns and looking into getting my first springer, I have really been enjoying your reviews and they have been a big help in my decision making. I really appreciate you giving well thought out reviews for budget/beginner rifles. Definitely worth a sub and will recommend you to anyone who is looking at get into Air Guns. Thanks

    People complain about Phantom rifle,yes but it can be tamed,the old geezer at shop told me to put whole tin of pellets (500) before mounting scope,he was right,the “twang “ was horrible.. I need a rail and better scope which I already have,but rails are expensive…I just use iron sights or whatever is on rifle..One more thing,,Fun is priceless 😆…Just stay safe that’s all…

    Tengo uno. Desarmé, pulí todo, cámara, gatillo, engrasé y armé. Cambió de manera espectacular, menos vibraciones, gatillo más suave y muy preciso. Además pinté la culata en color arena, quedó hermoso.

      After much deliberation I bought a HW99S, thinking it would not be too hard for my wife to use as well. It is a great rifle at a great price, the rekord trigger is probably the best part of it. While my wife cannot cock it, she regularly shoots better than me and loves it too. Especially as I cock and load it for her.

    Dear Sir, I have got this Air Rifle. But I would like to upgrade to a more powerful air rifle. (For scaring stray cats away). One that is not super expensive. But don't mind spending a bit more than the cost of this CrossMan Phanton. Is there an air rifle that you'd recommend? I like to get one that has a Scope already on it, e.g. Maybe the manufacturer provided the Scope when selling the Firearm.

    Just curious, I have a Crosman phantom.177 , I found abandoned at a storage unit. But, thought this model is discontinued in manufacturing, ? Of course, parts available online, but anyway, I've basically restored/ cleaned, oiled all vital points on mine. Yea, indeed a nice find and looking barely used. Also, it had a nice Bushnell sportsman scope on it when found, adding extra value. What do you use on your barrel for lubricant ?

    Hi mate , could you explain why this wouldn’t be good for vermin control please , I’m looking for something to keep the rats under control in the garden , we keep chickens so rats are attracted to the food , could you recommend something for under £200 ish upto the job preferably spring loading break barrel , any advice would be much appreciated pal.

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  11 месяцев назад +1

      HI Lee. The rifle is probably ok for shooting rats at short range - 10-12 metres or so, but beyond that, and certainly for bigger pests, I wouldn't rate it as accurate or powerful enough. We've reviewed a few other budget springers that I'd say are more up to the job of pest control. The Hatsan Breaker 900X is a great little rifle, the MSA Meteor Evo would certainly do the trick...Good luck with those rats.

      Hi. I've always found standard roundhead diabolo pellets to work best, especially if you stick with one of the well-known brands - JSB, Air Arms, H&N. Good luck.

  • @duck1946

    It would have better if the scope was focused and a group was shot?
    It may be in the lower price range(but not that low!) but deserved to be shot on targets the same as any other rifle, as another person has stated about tin can shooting previously there is ample power there for 25-30 yds shooting and if it can group at all thats what it should be used for,not just tin cans.
    It is a good report otherwise!
    When i read its great for back garden plinking,has a good sporting trigger?, etc i read it as kicks like a mule and trigger is heavy/unpredictable, tests need to be standardised trigger pull weight being possibly one of the most important things.Sporting trigger??

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  2 года назад

      Hi Donald.
      I think you may have misunderstood the point about the scope. Its not that I didn't focus it because I couldn't be bothered, but because it was incapable of being focused.
      The Phantom and scope cost only £135 (probably less if you shop around) and that is pretty much as cheap as an air rifle gets, so expectations should be set accordingly.
      I test the products people would buy - so I chose not to put a better scope on, or to do any tuning or replace/upgrade components. What would be the point?
      In my opinion, which is worth the same as anyone else's (i.e. nothing), the Phantom is great for plinking and tin can bashing but not great at targets or pests. That's why I showed it hitting tins cans not hitting paper. If was great at hitting paper, I would have shown that. I didn't because it isn't.
      No doubt an outraged Phantom owner will come on here and say he/she can hit one inch groups at 30 yards all day long. But that wasn't my experience (and I'd love to see their video). I can only give an opinion based on what I experience.
      I believe the Phantom is aimed at plinkers. If you're looking for something to shoot targets and have a budget in mind I'd be more than happy to give you some recommendations on rifles to look at.
      I hope that helps.
      Rich

      Hi Matt. Not what I meant at all. I don't think many would buy a rifle at this price level and expect to go hunting with it. However, plenty of people don't want to hunt but simply do a bit of back garden plinking. And that's what this rifle is perfect for. Thanks for watching.
