The Farming Airgunner absolutely my Hatsan 125 Vortex in .22 is steady at 27-28FPE with every pellet I’ve tried. It’s heavier than my fathers mossy and Remington shotguns
Gmar880 I have the Hatsan Torpedo 155 in .22, and that thing hits hard even using standard Crosman 14.3 Hollowpoint and pointed pellets. I’d honestly say the H&N hornet pellets in the 155 could probably take larger game within 25 yards or possibly 30 yards in a survival situation. After getting into airguns I realized that powder burners aren’t as necessary. Sure for home defense, but a pcp like the Hatsan Invader would make a sufficient home defense gun, especially being it’s semi auto.
It's nice to see someone actually comparing the pellets equally by foot-pounds generated. These are the type of pellet I have used to take quite a few cottontails. Good video.

@@STKO2011 And if you want to go for penetration, try the H&N Hornet. Most expensive pellet I ever saw here in Germany but they are really sharp pointed like on the picture of the box. You can prick your finger with a little bit of pressure and they really rip through some stuff. By law we can work with only 7.5 joule over here in G (about half of the energy your rifles have), but shot into telephone books, these guys buried themselfes like 2x-3x deep than the lead only flathead pellets, while the polymer-tip pellets went about 1,5 times deep. Would really love to see the difference with a properly propelled pellet (aka, shot out of a rifle with the energy yours have ;))
I recently started shooting blocks of wet clay avout the size and thickness of 7 or 8 decks of cards lined up. You get a really nice impact opening and wound channel, kind of like ballistic gel that freezes into impact shape. Personally though I think a phone vook is the best analog.. Take a panel sat upright... Hang the phone book through the back 50 or so pages near the spine in a way that makes the book hang spine up from the panel flatly, as it would rest on a table. You want the edges to be squared up when hanging freely. When the pellets enter you see a wound path and indication more in line with real game. The thin paper also sustains damage beyond the pellet rest point to indicate bruising from force. Give it a try.
If yoy are worried about a pellet shortage it might be worth investing in a pellet making press, sure they cost a fair bit but over time youll make your money back, they can also make slugs in pretty much any caliber you want, all you need is lead wire which you can make yourself with two half aluminium block cnc'd or milled a channel into it so when mated together they create a lead wire that way you dont have to buy lead wore on a spool from the manufacturers who sell the press, the wire being perfectly circular isnt essential as it will be squeezed and squished into the correct shape and excess is squeezed out of a small hole built onto the press. You can go one step furthar and weigh and size the slugs/pellets (i do this with tinned pellets then seperate them into marked tins of their respective weight and gwt the most consistent accuracy that way, sure it takes a bit of time but you can do this while just chilling out or watching tv kust make sire you wash your hands with some dish soap moxed with granulated sugar to really get any particles of lead off you. You can wash the pellets before weighing and sizing but by doing that you are basically hotting diminishing returns in terms of performance ive learnt from first hand experience the best increase to accuracy is from sizing and weighing. Its not neccesary but here in the uk with our sub 12 ftlb airguns without an FAC accuracy is the most important factor to consider when it comes to any pest control or small game harvesting
I got shot in the bum and in the finger the finger still has a huge scar, and the pellet in the bum had to be removed left a circular hole looks like a tb vaccine
You just gained a new sub. Great information. You're correct, people really do underestimate the power of a modern air rifle. I had a pest opossum on my property. One evening I decided to see if my Gamo Swarm Maxxim .177 would stop the problem. About dusk, I set up and waited. The little bugger came out of cover and headed for the crawlspace. I spotlighted him and snapped my fingers to get its attention. He stopped, looking for the sound. 1 shot right between the peepers. That critter didn't even flinch. Just froze, dropped on his side and didn't even kick. He weighed 7 3/4 pounds. No more critter.
My Hatsan 125 Vortex Camo in .22 was shooting Predator Poly shorts so deep in tree’s I couldn’t recover the pellet...28FPE! With JSB Hades that Hatsan put the most humane kill on a squirrel I’ve seen anywhere! Only at 23yds but still, it must’ve severed his spine somewhere but he was dead on impact... no disco dancing just lights out. I’m gonna do a coconut test and see if it goes through that. Any idea on why the pellet shortage?
factories were shut down, no pellets were made, factories now open people are buying them up quickly and leaves none for people who casually buy them online or in store
Hollow points are hunting pellets meant for high muzzle energy guns. My 7.5 joule 240 classic is better off firing wadcutters for quicker energy transfer to target.
This is the first test I have seen of yours that interests me. You have a consistent density target, you controlled the energy at the target well, You are using 2 different calibers with the same model pellet. I am at min 4:34 right now, taking apart the meat after each has hit it with equal energy, and I will predict. You controlled all the factors I can think of pretty well, and what we learn from the penetration should be pretty valid. Which one made more penetration? I am going to say they are about the same. Gonna see now. :)
More like serious injury than lethal, but it is possible. Reminds me of that guy who tried to kill both himself and his wife with a 12 fpe springer. Apparently even a point-blank shot to the back of the head (or the roof of the mouth) probably won't kill you, assuming you're a healthy adult. It will put you in hospital though; a fractured skull isn't fun.
Pellet rifles are optimal for pest control a 22 or 177 can take out rats squirrels and all kinds of varmits. By no means are they a joke they can cause serious harm. Most are not as powerful as a regular rifle but they hit hard and do the job. Awesome video.
Typically designed for small game however I've seen people kill bigger game with these types of air rifles. For example air rifles made by gamo shooting 1300 or 1600 fps
Hay James the bologna is a pretty good medium to shoot through. Pellet Shortage? I can find Ruger, Gamo, H&N excite, Daisy, and some Crosman pellets online at Amazon and Walmart. You just have to check daily. You can order from Crosman directly and pay a couple $$ more. Even PA and AGD have some Hades in stock.
This is why Apex Air Solutions preaches self-defense with air arms because it's safe to use inside of a house and not pass through walls but it will definitely maime your attacker appropriately
Is baloney like a processed meat, like pepperoni? I'm from the UK so go easy on me with the replies. 😂 I'm also a Newby when it comes to air rifles. I've had my dads old air rifle and air pistols, but this is another level compared to the ones I've had in the past. Apparently i got my BSA Ultra compressed air .177 at a good price with everything attached at £350? Comments off other owners said thats a decent price, not the seller. Who is a reputable seller anyway. Boyces Fishing, Gun shop and army surplus in Nelson near Burnley, Lancashire, North West England. I'm also a keen fly fisheman so been going to the same shop for years. The advice and knowledge is second to none. Thanks for the video. I figured watching my cousins across the pond vidoes would teach me more.
Unfortunately virtually no expansion from either pellet. It is really too bad that most of the bigger sporting goods stores and big box stores only bother to carry the low end pellets like Crosman and Gamo. Not much reason to shoot a hollow point if it will not expand and provide greater static shock on impact. I owned an airgun store for several years and always found it amusing when customers would come in with good but inexpensive pellet rifles (like a Hatsan model 95) complaining about how inaccurate they were. I would give them a test bag of H&N Sniper Magnums or Air Arms Field Target pellets and send them off to give their guns another try. Almost without exception they would be back having sworn off their Crosman pellets and adopting a good quality pellet instead. To be fair, however, every rifle is different as well. I have a Weihrauch HW97K in .177 that I ran at least 16 different pellets through and at the end of the day the $600 break barrel preferred either H&N Barracuda Match or, groan, Crosman Brown Box domes. No accounting for tastes but at least that rifle will shoot cheap pellets. I have a Hatsan Proxima that will only shoot Sig Alloy pellets at over $22 for a tin of 150. I will take a gun shooting a $8 tin of 500 Crosman pellets over that any day.
great video! can you do pellet vs jacket? a lot of people think a jacket and layers can stop a pellet. it may be able to but could do other damage. in regards to self defence.
And thank you for putting out another original exciting video me and my buddies do test similar to this can I recommend you trying potatoes they work pretty good and pumpkins and maybe not be that impressive but it really gives you a realistic performance
H&N make a 20 grain .177 pellet (I've forgotten the name of them) Trust me when I say you need to get some, If they suit your barrel ,well you are going to seriously enjoy them, I use them in a 12 fpe PCP rifle, all I can say is WOW! seriously powerful.
Have also noticed this pellet shortage, just bought a game varmit the other day and was shocked my local fleet farm was OUT of .177 pellets, however the Walmart in the next town had a decent selection
Interesting, but to tell you the truth, you should NOT do this type of shooting where you have no way to STOP the projectle, there was a car at the other side, is good to have confidence on your self but is better to have better caution for others.
@@βιζζγΚιδ Never had wild game? Even when it's processed there's always a tiny bit of lead leftover. Something like this there would be the same- very little. Heavy metal poisoning is also additive. As long as this isn't done often there's basically no risk. Any lead dust is completely removed in the firing process and the likelihood of any lead being transferred to boneless meat directly from the pellets is quite low.
I've recently purchased a Gamo Magnum .177 cal break barell. Before I bought that, I was shooting a Benjamin Prowler .22 cal. The difference in the cocking between the 2 rifles is like night and day. I'm not weak by any means, but cocking the Magnum is a beast. Other than the traditional way of cocking the gun, do you (or anybody) know of alternative ways of cocking the gun that aren't as tough? Would oiling it help? Any info would be appreciated...thank you!
as long as routine maintenance of lubing the piston seal, thats about it, I personally use silicone lubricant then just grab at the end of the barrel and do one quick sweep
Mmm not sure about this you took out a pellet then you picked up another pellet said thats not it then you showed just one pellet which was a 1.77 how do we know there wasn't a .22 pellet you threw away !!
I am looking to get a air rifle for hunting squirrels, rabbits and raccoons. Which air rifle do you recommend 500 or less. I also want to be able to replace parts as the go bad over time. I would like one that is powerful, and very accurate . Thanks Jeff .
I personally think you should have used a muscle meat versus baloney to be a true representation of what the penetration would be although definitely more expensive to do. Thanks for the demo.
If youre getting the same model but in .22, the .22 version will always hit harder than the .177 even though is travels slower, which some people like. If it travels at less than 1,250 or 1,200 fps, it travels slower than the speed of sound, it wont have that cracking sound from sonic boom. The .177 is more for target practice as it flies straight farther, the .22 is more for small game hunting as it hits harder, it would be a faster kill, being more ethical. It really depends what youre looking to use it for.
The 16 grain H&N hornet pellets I shoot from my Diana model 34 classic .22 air rifle would penetrate through all 5 pounds of the bologna and leave a nasty wound channel the way they penetrate and expand. I recently ordered me another tin of 200 of them from pyramyd air because there is a shortage and they was out of stock a spell
This is why air rifles aren't toys, they are serious hunting tools for small game.

You deserve far more views. Thank you for the knowledge
Great demo! Keep up the great work!
thanks!
Did he wash his hands before the 2nd round, or did he shoot with balogna hands ?
Well did ya have opossum burgers or what?
With all the pcp hype it’s nice to see a springer
Thanks!
The resistance on processed meat vs human live flesh is very different but i guess nobody else has done something similar so thanks and good job
Any idea on why the pellet shortage?
factories were shut down, no pellets were made, factories now open people are buying them up quickly and leaves none for people who casually buy them online or in store
good thing the chrono made it safely this time
Good video as usual.just received 5000 rounds 177 hollow point.
That is awesome!
I would still fry up that Bologna with Eggs and Potatoes! 🍳
Absolutely, a little cheese and Pace picante, tough to beat.
Hollow points are hunting pellets meant for high muzzle energy guns.
My 7.5 joule 240 classic is better off firing wadcutters for quicker energy transfer to target.
Thanks!
I own a Gamo Whisper Swarm 10X .22 and I love it !! I want to get the .177 Gamo Magnum 10X next. Looking forward to your videos.
His wife is like will you quit shooting all the Bologna 😂😂
That thumb nail will give politicians reason to start wanting to put bans on air rifles.
Here in the UK we can only have 12 ft/lbs maximum without a licence but they are still lethal potentially nice one subbed!
Thanks for the sub!
Awesome videos. Can't believe I've never come across your channel before now keep them coming
Thanks, will do!
What is the best 12ft lbs in your opinion?
Very cool and informative, thanks.
You forgot the mustard and bread and a beverage
Pellet rifles are optimal for pest control a 22 or 177 can take out rats squirrels and all kinds of varmits. By no means are they a joke they can cause serious harm. Most are not as powerful as a regular rifle but they hit hard and do the job. Awesome video.
Ty budy for the video content :-) great job!
This is a good test. Subscribed.
Thanks, at the time of the recording Predator Int'l, online retailers, and my local stores were out of everything
This is why Apex Air Solutions preaches self-defense with air arms because it's safe to use inside of a house and not pass through walls but it will definitely maime your attacker appropriately
The pellet didn’t really go through five lbs of bologna.
What if you had a single 100 lb disk of bologna but it was only 1/4 in thick?
Great video, this! The guy sure knows what he's talking about. I will visit this channel again.
Now you need to eat that stuff so you can save your money for a new Crony.
Me and over a quarter million people came here to watch you plink balogna 😆
LOL I love how you're cronometer is broken from you shooting it
Great video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
The moment you realize that no gun was able to match Lewis and Clark's airgun
Well it's processed meat. Don't compare to shooting live, raw flesh.
Have any bread and cheese and mustard, your video got me hungry lol, great video.
Thank you!
Thanks!
great video! can you do pellet vs jacket? a lot of people think a jacket and layers can stop a pellet. it may be able to but could do other damage. in regards to self defence.
Thanks! I'll see what I can do
And thank you for putting out another original exciting video me and my buddies do test similar to this can I recommend you trying potatoes they work pretty good and pumpkins and maybe not be that impressive but it really gives you a realistic performance
Your video was well done. Thank u.
H&N make a 20 grain .177 pellet (I've forgotten the name of them)
Trust me when I say you need to get some,
If they suit your barrel ,well you are going to seriously enjoy them, I use them in a 12 fpe PCP rifle, all I can say is WOW! seriously powerful.
They also make a 30 grain .22 pellet called "Piledriver" that thing is a beast.
I knew the 22 went through all 5 because I could see the hole in the duct tape.
Aye thanks for keeping up with postinf
Thanks!
Have also noticed this pellet shortage, just bought a game varmit the other day and was shocked my local fleet farm was OUT of .177 pellets, however the Walmart in the next town had a decent selection
Your videos are dope brother!!! Thanks for making them!
I appreciate that!
Interesting, but to tell you the truth, you should NOT do this type of shooting where you have no way to STOP the projectle, there was a car at the other side, is good to have confidence on your self but is better to have better caution for others.
direction I was shooting is over 1/2 mile to next road and I was shooting downward?
👋🏾 interesting video. You have a lot of bologna sandwiches 🥪 to eat “want not waste not” brotha 👊🏾😎
Thanks!
Ya because leaded bologna is super healthy.
@@disturbeddemons1 no 1 I was being sarcastic no 2 dont assume that you know more than others I was born with a 22 and an 06 in each hand. Lol
@@STKO2011.....thank you!
yep!
Wow, I saw the baloney and suddenly I wanted a fried bologna sandwich with Dukes mayo 😂😂
Question I have a gamo 975 22cl 5.5 Is that strong enough to kill a iguana lizard
Finally! A practical use for bologna!
22 is no joke.. serious piece of kit
Mmm not sure about this you took out a pellet then you picked up another pellet said thats not it then you showed just one pellet which was a 1.77 how do we know there wasn't a .22 pellet you threw away !!
Fascinating, never would've guessed you'd get these results
I am looking to get a air rifle for hunting squirrels, rabbits and raccoons. Which air rifle do you recommend 500 or less. I also want to be able to replace parts as the go bad over time. I would like one that is powerful, and very accurate . Thanks Jeff .
I personally think you should have used a muscle meat versus baloney to be a true representation of what the penetration would be although definitely more expensive to do.
Thanks for the demo.
FINALLY a good use for Bar S bologna 🤣
What happens to the bologna after you're done shooting it?
It votes for Biden.
@@valtonw123 it has the same IQ as a loser Trump?
So low budget but clever. I don't know why I like it
The neighbors are saying that guy is out bopping his bologna again
I'm new to airguns. I have a gamo .177 caliber @ 1420 FPS, should I switch to a .22?
