    I have one of these. Its a GREAT air rifle. in fact, I consider it the PERFECT pumper. very accurate. good knock down power on birds. I say this to crosman - you have a winner here. how about some variants ? different colored stocks, wood stock option, 177 caliber version. Crosman should offer up a bunch of special editions of this rifle. I bought one of the 100th anniversay editions of the 362, but at 400 dollars thats too much money. And Crosman, how about a upgraded version of the 760 ? we adults dont want a total plastic gun, how about remaking the rifle you sold in the 70's that had a metal receiver and thicker plastic stock ? we will pay for it, give us the option. if you want a pumper, the 362 in 22 is one fantastic rifle. thanks for the chronograph numbers. for those that want a 177 check out the daisy 901. its solid and very nice. If you want a break barrel, check out the crosman vantage nitro piston. its also fantastic.

    Interesting. Using Crosman Premier H.P.s (14.3gr) in my stock 362, 8 pumps, a 5 shot string, I got a high of 630 fps & a low of 627 fps with an avg. of 629 fps. I tested it again after putting a brass breech, stainless extended bolt probe, a larger transfer port, and a Buck Rail silencer. Again, Crosman Premier H.P.s 14.3 gr. 8 pumps, and this time, a 10 shot string. The high was 654 fps. Low was 630 fps with an avg. of 647 fps. I then went up to 10 pumps and a 10 shot string. The high was 706 fps. The low was 686 with an avg. of 693 fps. The air temp. was about 42 degrees.

      @@GuidersGunGuideGGG-USA I too, take great pleasure in testing. While the 362 was still stock, I also tested 4 other pellets (8 pumps) from Crosman Domed Ultra Heavy (19gr. high of 559 fps) to N & N Field Target Trophy Green (9.57gr. high of 723 fps). The air temp. was about 38 degrees but sunny. It'll be a while before it gets into the 70s and enough sunlight for my chronograph. As a side note, I've never cleaned the barrel. But I had sent at least 100 pellets down-range before first using the chronograph. I'm looking forward to your future videos.

    The Artillery Hold is easy as can be, NO manhandling of the gun,just aim and keep everything completely relaxed when getting the shot off, you must discipline yourself to relax,no need to pull stock into shoulder,this is how you get the best results with the Artillery Hold,the heavier the rifle the easier this is so no need to over muscle here,that will throw your shot off,gentle finesse is the name of the game.Just let the fore end rest in your open palm...try that and it may help.

      Leo thanks for watching and the advice but there was no accuracy testing here. The artillery hold is a method for use in springers to permit the double recoil to occur in a consistent manner to increase accuracy. I don't know that I've heard of using that method for any other type of airgun that lack those recoil behaviors.

    Hi Ben, took several cotton patches in the barrel remove any 🏭 oil or lite grease. They CAME out pretty clean, so shot it with 3 pumps,then 4, finished with 5 . Use RWs Hobby pellets@11.9 grs. I'm using the peep sight ☺️. With 3 pumps got a 9/16" group. Then 4 pumps group size was 1/2", LAST was 5 pumps, group size is 7/16". This 362
    Actually better than my Benjamin 392. Amazing for the money 💰💵. Have lots of other pellets to test. What I'm thinking 🤔 this CROSMAN PUMP UP Air Rifle is mostly for garden 🏡 or hunting. Don't believe they made this for m.o.a.targetshooting.

    I own the 362 and I still prefer my 880. Yes it feels cheaper but that plastic is durable and lighter. Also, 880 is just as accurate, easier & quieter to pump, cheaper and comes with a scope. In contrast, the 362 has higher fpe and in .22 caliber. Also, it feels sturdier in the hand than the 880. The 362 has more metal and weight (good/bad thing). However, the 362 is noisy to pump and if you want a scope expect to pay an extra $100 just to have that upgrade with iron sights and steel breach under warranty from Pyramid Air (doesn’t include scope). Again, both the Daisy 880 and Winchester 1977xs come with scopes (cheap but with dovetails) and are reasonably priced compared to a scoped-able 362.
    Averages/Estimates

    880: 681fps; 8.5fpe; $40

    Looks like a really promising platform for modification and it is nice to see a good quality multi pump that is made with enough power to hunt with if needed. Springers are usually on the heavy side and are tough to be really accurate with heck I'm a good shot and have yet to get a really nice group using a springer at 10 yards. I can bust cans all day using a braceless slingshot but can't get a quarter size group with my springer!

      @@GuidersGunGuideGGG-USA I also think it has to do with the break barrel design, it introduces a variable in barrel position. I'm decent at 10 yards or so if I sight it in but wouldn't rely on it for high precision shots past that. I want something I can shoot from a rested position and springers aren't that great for it.

    I just found your channel and subscribed.
    Thank you for this video on the Crosman 362 velocity testing. And thank you for the tip on the extended bolt by Alchemy Airguns. I have never heard of them. So I will check them out for ideas to increase the performance of the Crosman 362.
    I would like to ask a favour from you.
    Please speak louder or directly into the microphone or do not speak while the chronograph is speaking.
    I was trying to hear what you had to say. But the chronograph was louder than you. So I ended up just reading the transcript. Other than that I like your content.
    I would also like to mention that while you are at it, you should do an accuracy/grouping video and use different pellets, grain weights, and head shapes, do a penetration test, and mention the distance to the target. Afterall, you are already shooting the pellets. Might as well give us your opinion on the pellet performance.
    Anyway, Thanks again.

    There doesn't seem to be too much difference between 10 and 6 pumps,less than 100 FPS,so it wouldn't seem worth the effort of 10 pumps.I don't think air temperature makes much difference with air guns, spring, pump or PCP, but it does with CO2 guns.

    • @GuidersGunGuideGGG-USA
      @GuidersGunGuideGGG-USA  2 года назад +1

      Kevan, air temperature and barometric pressures do impact airguns. This has been tested variously by others and I have witnessed personal evidence of it.
      For pumpers, your sweep volume is static. At different temperatures and air pressures, the density of the air varies in this uncompressed volume. Less dense air puts fewer molecules into the valve per pump. So someone pumping in Arizona in August will have different results than someone pumping in Vale in December.
      The same applies for springers too. Less dense air compressed by the spring moving forward will result in less velocity.

    Interesting new offering from Crosman. The problem with most extended bolts is really in the depth of the pellet.
    It gets the pellet past the transfer port but sometimes the pellet skirt is shallow is so far forward it creates a larger void behind the pellet. The air has a chance to expand and loose pressure. The valve volume on these pretty small so you lose pressure before the pellet has a chance to move.
    Sometimes the thing that increases the flow decreases the pressure and there’s no net gain. However even if there is no gain in velocity, if it increases the consistency it’s worth it in the long run.
    Just something to ponder.

      The camo netting outside the window gave me a chuckle. I love it!! I would love to do the same thing at my house, but I don't think my wife or HOA would appreciate me making my home look like Tactical Operations Center. I have only tested the two pellets mentioned in this video so far. So very limited. The UTG Bugbuster just arrived yesterday and is mounted. I will be getting some time to put in some accuracy testing with the different pellets I have. I'll find what works best and get that video published next. Try the Sig Venom domed pellets. They are a bit longer and I've gotten superb accuracy with them out to 35 yards (about 3/8" groups, zero wind, rested on a table), even to 100 yards if you consider a 3" group decent at 100 yards with a pellet gun. These results I've repeated hundreds of times over the years with a Daisy 822 with the high pressure upgrade parts from Daisy. I'm assuming this new Crosman should have no problem getting the same results or better, since it has much higher quality components than my old Daisy 822.

      I did find a video though that had an ok close up of an open tin. From the look of what I'm seeing in this video (again not as clean of a picture as I would prefer), there are differences in the Crosman Essential and the SMK Spitfire that makes me think maybe not the same pellets. Specifically, the back of the head on the CE is sloped at a shallow angle to the waste of the pellet, while the Spitfire seems be more abrupt in angle from the pellet head to the waste of the skirt. Both have the grooves on the skirt but the CE has those grooves continuing up the back of the head and terminating at the wide part of the head. The spitfire grooves on the skirt seem to terminate at the waste of the pellet.
      I don't think I did enough before testing to give a quantifiable assessment of the results of the polishing. It sure made things shiny inside the barrel though. LOL

Plus since Crosman / Benjamin was bought out be a holding company (now Velocity - Outdoors) about 5 years ago they have outsourced a lot more of their products. Regarding velocity with your new breech and bolt probe: I had a slight blow by leak around one of my probes fixed by a slightly thicker probe o-ring. My extended probe was a tad thinner. @@GuidersGunGuideGGG-USA What in your opinion, is the limiting factor in airgun accuracy? Sure, I can vastly overspend for a "Raw" brand airgun, but why can't we, in the lower-budget arena, have better accuracy?
      Case in point: Crosman just introduced a new pumper -- Model 362. After MANY tweaks of this & that (new steel chamber, new valve, etc.), some YT guy was able to achieve 0.64" group sizes at about 20 yards or so. This is nonsense to me -- coming from a firearms background! Why should Airgunners have to live with such low accuracies? I DEMAND same-hole accuracy (Scoped) at 20 yards & beyond.
      Until I can see reviews of such, I'll keep my new Daisy 880!

    • @GuidersGunGuideGGG-USA
      @GuidersGunGuideGGG-USA  2 года назад +2

      That's a fantastic question! When it comes to firearms, varying quality levels dictate accuracy, just as with air rifles.
      Accuracy is the result of consistency, in my opinion. That consistency includes shooter mechanics, ammunition, and gun. In the case of ammunition, consistency of the projectile manufacture and of the powder charge (powder burner) affects accuracy. In the case of air guns, similarly the release of air can vary outcomes along with variations in the pellets. In addition, there is the projectile length/weight as it relates to rifling twist rates in barrels and matching those up. Then when we get to the guns themselves, the quality of the barrel manufacturing process matters, smoothness of the trigger group, hammers, valves, etc all have impacts. Getting into crazy fine tuning, there is the impact of barrel harmonics that combined with variations in pellet velocities from variations in air releases may cause the pellets to leave the barrel at different points in the harmonics of the barrels.
      Even in firearms a match grade .22 LR rifle will not shoot to its full potential without the right ammo. Also a stock 10/22 will likely be less accurate than a match grade gun, and pricing shows that. Sure, people will talk of their rare one off bulk manufactured gun that outshot their Olympian buddy's match gun (hyperbole here), but broad strokes, higher priced guns and ammo get you better accuracy.
      If you think about it, a firearm is a less complex machine than is an air rifle. It has fewer moving parts and fewer items to tune and get right/wrong. So that an airgun is more of a challenge to get to equal accuracy really doesn't surprise me form the engineering perspective.

    • @unifrog5271
      @unifrog5271 2 года назад +2

      @@GuidersGunGuideGGG-USA Sorry im replying from another channel I got the notification via email. The statements are not connected. Ive built and tested dozens of these. If you get an increase in fps from either mod, its because you made a better seal on assembly than it had from the factory. Other than having a dovetail and being slightly more durable the steel breech is a waste because the plastic breech actual seals better. Every extended bolt will cost fps. People think of the air traveling but its actually a matter of compression ratio not flow. Think of the gun as an engine, the valve is the cylinder and the breech is the head. When the pellet is pushed further down the barrel it makes a for larger "compression chamber" resulting in a lower "compression ratio" and lost velocity. Dont get stuck on the idea of the pellet skirt residing over the hole and "impeding flow". It doestn work like that, pure breech pressure is what initially drives the pellet, not dynamic flow. On my other comment about the nitrile tubing, it makes a far better seal than the metal to metal transfer port setup. Just have to use the perfect diameter tubing and cut it to the perfect length. Trust me its literally thousands of hours of testing with these.

    • @unifrog5271
      @unifrog5271 2 года назад +2

      The reason they use a metal transfer port setup is more about locating and locking down the barrel. As ling as you shim the barrel in the breech and locate it precisely you will see a significant gain in fps qnd consistency from using tubing to seal the valve to the barrel. The barrel band will keep it all in place. If you see a drop its because you got the tubing pinched on assembly. Be patient, the more you do it the easier it gets.

    • @GuidersGunGuideGGG-USA
      @GuidersGunGuideGGG-USA  2 года назад

      That all makes excellent sense. The analogy with the car engine is a good one.
      I've always understood the power generated by a gun (air or powder burning) to be caused by the expansion of gas (compressed or generated from a chemical reaction).
      So in the case of air guns, it's a matter of the expansion of a compressed volume of air that accelerates the pellet/BB down the barrel as that compressed volume of air expands to equalize with current atmospheric pressure.
      In the case of the Crosman design, that expansion begins at the point of release from the valve. So the air is expanding out of the valve, through the transfer port, behind the pellet, through the barrel, and outside the barrel once the pellet exits the barrel.
      So question regarding the skirt placement over the transfer port versus pushed in front of it.
      As I think about that setup, with the skirt partially behind the front edge of the transfer port, would that not permit some amount of this air to go in the gap at the waist of the of the pellet rather than being part of the air compressing behind the skirt? Your point is well taken though that with the pellet forward of the port, the air from the valve has expanded and expended more of it's energy before contact with the pellet than if the pellet is at stock position, partially covering the port. However, in that some amount of air is already bypassing the skirt to go directly behind the head, some amount of compression is lost at that point regardless.
      I realize this all rather academic and nerdy levels, but I do enjoy those parts of the sport. What are you thoughts about the manner in which I'm thinking about this?

    • @dreamstreet4343
      @dreamstreet4343 2 года назад +2

      @@GuidersGunGuideGGG-USA the breakdown of the engineering is actually what drives my interest in the hobby. I see your point, however also consider that the dome of the pellet does still impede the escape of the compressed gas. Not totally, but by the time any significant amount is "in front" of the entire pellet, the pellset has already begun it's travel and accelerated far faster from the seal compressed air behind the skirt, making any potential loss negligible if not entirely void, using again the engine analogy, and it would be scavenged air because of bernouli's principle. The "compression ratio" and velocity is a greater factor than total flow. Let's also not dismiss the fact that some pellets have a deeper, or shallower skirt, resulting in a variance in the location of the pellet in relation to the transfer port once the bolt is fully closed. No matter how many times I have tested an extended bolt vs. a standard bolt, the extended has never given better results when properly assembled and sealed. P.S.... My 362 arrived today and I will without a doubt be modding it eventually. The build quality is phenomenal, dare I say the best quality per dollar I have ever spent on any rifle. It might take me a few months but my intention is to document and produce a video of the process and the results. I will do my best to remember to notify you. My airgun channel is called "Monkey Paw". If you search Crosman 2260 Pistol you should be able to find it. Sure, you can over-pump it, you won't gain much power, but just like the 2100, over-pumping results in some of the air not being released from the air chamber. Unless you replace the hammer spring with a stiffer spring, or replace the hammer with a heavier hammer. That will hold the valve open a little longer and release all the air. Even stock, once the hammer spring starts to get weak, you'll start to notice a little air remaining in the chamber after each shot. My 2100 is old and is doing that now, needs a new hammer spring.
