I love hearts too. I even have 2 hearts on my wedding ring on the side of the circular center stone. . My Hubby’s quote for my wedding ring is: 2 hearts coming together in a circle of love that is never ending.❤️❤️
I’ve been tossing lots and finally got to my sewing room. Last week I sorted through my patterns and added about 10 to the donation pile. There were 20 that were torn from magazine pages that were recycled. A couple days ago I put 3 FQs in the donation pile too. It feels good to have a space that’s more open, and it makes it easier to create beautiful quilts.
I’m doing a major clean out. On my third dumpster! My husband passed away and he was a major saver! I’m also rethinking my things at the same time. Thanks for your encouragement and uplifting attitude! Enjoy your projects and books.
I miss the live event, darn it. Love the aurifill designer quilt sampler especially the cascading squares blocks. It really adds an interesting spin. The designers really did an awesome job. I used to follow a house cleaning site and she would challenge us to throwing away the most pounds of clutter. You'd bag it up and weigh it! She also made a point that was a light bulb moment for me. You can't clean clutter.!
I belong to a group on Facebook called Buy Nothing. It groups people to a local area. We post things that we want to give away and folks post when they want to be considered. After a while (a day or so) we then choose the 'winner' and then PM for pickup info. It helps to strengthen neighbor/community interaction. It's been terrific to downsize our extras and to meet new folks. With the pandemic we've been limited to porch pickups but it's still been great. You may want to see if there's a group in your area.
Pat, you’re creativity knows no bounds! The Aurafil Top amazes me. And how you put the different blocks together in a cohesive and artistic way....fantastic! 👍
I used to make project bags for a local yarn shop, it changed hands so I don’t have to make them anymore. I gave a kitchen garbage bag filled with fabric to a friend of mine who is learning to sew. Mainly cotton calico lining and a few quilt shop quality fabrics I purchased to make bags but would not use the prints to quilt with because I have plenty of bundles, cakes and jelly rolls. She was thrilled.
Toss is a great challenge for me. But it’s also a great challenge for me. Lol. Good and bad. Good because I need it so and bad cause it’s so hard for me to let go. I’m going to try though. I have started the organization part, just made me realize how much I really have. Ugh. Thank you Pat for the challenge.
Still going thru stash/craft supplies to toss/give. After watching yesterday's video-I normally watch them in the mornings-and you saying you were going to make your only uncle a quilt, I decided I will send my jelly roll ripple quilt when finished to one of my aunts. One of only 2 of the 10!! siblings on my mom's side left. She's very "down homey" & will love it :) Hearts are my very favorite, too & when you showed your winged hearts, I looked & I already have it saved in my computer. I may have to do that one, although a 12" block of the 1/2 sq triangles will be fun, too. I'll have to see how many reds/pinks I have for that one. Thanks for the heads-up on that :)
Good morning dear Pat. Yesterday I made a priority list for this week. Thanks for your encouragement. Today I'm finishing 2 receiving blankets and a pillowcase. If I have time I will do more. Have a blessed day. Love the heart block.
I tossed and charity sewed at the same time over Christmas break. I used random strips and fqs to make8 3×4 tops for my friend to make quilts for hospice patients. I made 8 tops and donated yardage to make a sizable dent in my stash. It also gave me precious time to remember my SIL who was a hospice doctor prior to her death in 2019 at the hospice where she worked. Looking forward to using the link for the notepad to give to my staff!
Started"the toss" by tidying my sewing box.....4 latch tools!! (I don't even know what to do with them!!!), so many cards of hooks and eyes and yes as you mentioned an old battered ruler useful to no-one. Haha. Thanks for the nudge to do it.
Yes! Yes! I’m ready to toss a whole mess of stuff! I haven’t been able to face ‘the closet’ but it’s a new year, new hope, and I’m just going to do it.
LOL, where does one start! Pens, that's a good place & easy! I have my fabric, mom's & my sister's fabric! Have to go through & donate what I can't keep!
I have already went though my closet, my bookcases of novels. Next is the sewing stuff. Downsizing begins. I am taking mine to a thrift store thats helps animals get homes. Helps pay for a animal rescue. First dump goes today.
We picked January to clean out our garage, doing a little bit everyday and have a clean garage by the end of the month, so we have already started to 'toss out' stuff!
I just “tossed” about 50 pens and pencils I got free from work conferences. Gave them to my daughter, as she wanted them. Not a big thing, but it is a start 🧵
I keep a brown grocery sack under my cutting table to fill with donation items. Once I've finished Christmas wrapping/gifting, I spend the last 2 weeks of the year tidying & tossing. I threw away a lot of pens & such. When I buy new clothes I have a couple of rules: for separates (shirts, etc.) they must combine to make 3 different outfits; #2 Whatever the number is coming in new that same number must go - toss or donate. This rule has made a HUGE difference for me. I already have my bag half full to donate. Keeping the bag there makes it so easy to "toss" items in. This is a great challenge.
I’ve been working on organizing my sewing studio. Toss it fits right in with my plan. I will still be working on my elephants, red on a gray background for my daughter.
Liking the challenge to get rid of it. I attacked my pantry and went thru my old spices. I always like to purge an area, seems much more fulfilling. Always need room for improvement
This is a great topic. I already started yesterday by donating a UFO my granddaughter started but never finished, and has no interest in finishing it, my sisters granddaughter or her DIL is getting it.
Use the red print u showed from morrison park on the elephant, for your backing, oooo so pretty..same for the binding.. this is for the jelly roll quilt..
HI Pat! Can I count the 3 shopping bags filled with quilt books that I donate to our library just before Christmas? Lol! I'm always going thru sewing stuff to toss & just household stuff to toss. Sometimes, you need to get rid of the clutter. My house looks way different in 2021 than it did in 2013 when I had all kinds of tchotchkes in my house. When we moved from IL to TN I got rid of a LOT of stuff. Definitely have more to toss but it'll get done day by day. Great challenge for January! Hugs & stay safe!
Ive been on a major clean out and toss binge.... two trunk loads to Salvation Army... some just to trash... makes me wonder why in the world I had the stuff in my house....
I just love your ripple quilt. You make me smile every time you laugh....I love your chuckle!
I love hearts too. I even have 2 hearts on my wedding ring on the side of the circular center stone. . My Hubby’s quote for my wedding ring is: 2 hearts coming together in a circle of love that is never ending.❤️❤️
Love Toss it, I’m in for the challenge. I also challenge myself to “toss” something when I bring something new in to my home.

Yes! Yes! I’m ready to toss a whole mess of stuff! I haven’t been able to face ‘the closet’ but it’s a new year, new hope, and I’m just going to do it.
Specifically the fabric closet 😳
I love the aurifil quilt so much-
I have been waiting for a sew along for Valentine because i need a wall hanging. Good timing.
LOL, where does one start! Pens, that's a good place & easy! I have my fabric, mom's & my sister's fabric! Have to go through & donate what I can't keep!
As I am school holidays in Australia I have decided to do a drawer/cupboard a day. So far so good 😊
Hey, look how strong your wrist was by holding up that whole pile of fabrics!
they are getting there!
Your new book looks so exciting, am looking forward to it. And that Aurifil quilt is just stunning. What a beautiful piece of art. ❤️
I have already went though my closet, my bookcases of novels. Next is the sewing stuff. Downsizing begins. I am taking mine to a thrift store thats helps animals get homes. Helps pay for a animal rescue. First dump goes today.
The Aurifil quilt looks awesome! I like how those blocks were set with the cascading squares!
Thank you Pat, awesome idea 💡, I’m in for the challenge 😊
We picked January to clean out our garage, doing a little bit everyday and have a clean garage by the end of the month, so we have already started to 'toss out' stuff!
Love your quilts Pat
I already have a huge container in my car ready to donate! It includes decorations I don't use anymore and thread that isn't Aurifil!!!
thank you today!
Love the sashing on the aurifil quilt. Beautiful quilt.
I just “tossed” about 50 pens and pencils I got free from work conferences. Gave them to my daughter, as she wanted them. Not a big thing, but it is a start 🧵
Perfect 👌
Excited about the heart quilt. Now to see if I have anything in my stash to work.
I am up for it---have been trying to do just that --it only takes one a day to give the feeling of accomplishment. Recycle, Pitch or give it away.
I worked at tossing out last week. I got 15 bags for donations and three bags of trash...garden leaf sized bags!

I did that yesterday & it felt SO good!
Yay ordered your new book
Yesterday was my closet, donated about 10 towels to the humane society.
Liking the challenge to get rid of it. I attacked my pantry and went thru my old spices. I always like to purge an area, seems much more fulfilling. Always need room for improvement
I' m going to be tossing this week!
I am excited about Home sew a-long.

I have several areas I need to toss things out of. Pre-ordered your new book and just received extra background fabric for Home Is.
Good evening from Oklahoma !
This is a great topic. I already started yesterday by donating a UFO my granddaughter started but never finished, and has no interest in finishing it, my sisters granddaughter or her DIL is getting it.
Upstitch in Albany NY will take sewing donations, check out their website for donation needs!
Have they started taking donations again?
Use the red print u showed from morrison park on the elephant, for your backing, oooo so pretty..same for the binding.. this is for the jelly roll quilt..
Good morning all!
Thanks
