The ambiguity in the Nigerian judiciary is an artificial creation of the system to protect the most powerful people in the country. Mr Ajayi's submission is a proof to the claims by Dele Farotimi that the security agencies protect the powerful and the Nigerian courts gives justice to the rich.

How sure was he that Dele was invited? Did he see the invitation? How did he know Dele refused to comply?
Coming to the issue of the Magistrate's refusal to grant bail, who told him Magistrates always have discretion to refuse bail in bailable cases? Please who compares Yahaya Bello's case at the High Court with a Magistrate that has a summary jurisdiction and is to grant bail for even Defendants without lawyers arguing their bail?
    He's clearly biased.
The wicked side to this rubbish precedent is that tomorrow, one Muslim in the Shariah state will kidnap a Southern Christian to be tried on the provisions of the law of that state.

It’s unfortunate to see so much bias and lack of understanding in these comments. The points made by the two speakers were straightforward and enlightening. Why do some people choose to focus on causing discontent instead of engaging constructively?
For context, Mr. Dele Farotimi made remarks about Chief Afe Babalola, who subsequently reported the matter to the police. The police acted on the report, and now some are complaining. Let’s be clear: Mr. Farotimi has the right to freedom of speech, but that does not mean his rights supersede someone else’s right to seek redress if they feel wronged.
Please, let’s stop being overly sentimental and focus on discussing issues rationally. Constructive dialogue will always achieve more than unwarranted criticism.

Dele Farotimi's arrest is the beginning of Revolution in Nigeria.
It's unfortunate that this is happening during Bola Tinubu's Government, who himself was formally passived a human right advocate.
Times have changed in Nigeria compared to the days of Gani Fawehinmi of blessed memories; when there was no access to social media in Nigeria.
This matter is between The Righteous Lawyers in Nigeria and the unrighteous Lawyers.
The massive poor Nigerians are standing behind the Righteous Lawyers.
Remember God is behind the righteous from generation to generations.

Why would he be arrested ?, without the involvement of Lagos state police command.
There are many reasons to see self-interest, from the plentive .
He is the Head of Ekiti state police command, so he can use them as he wants.

Mr. Ajayi thanks for speaking boldly your sentiment and biases towards the common man Mr. Dele Farotimi, the man of the people.
Our fears is that his fate may be likened to that of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who has roundly defeated the DSS, BUHARI, FGN & even the current administration.
Please for God’s sake, who is Bablola compared to Donald Trump?
Who is a saint in this world please?
The world is still watching Nigeria.
It is only GOD that attests who has what reputation.
No one on earth has any fixated reputation until GOD says so.

It appears this woman is not ready to listen to the clarity explained by the old man. Here lies the problem with our activists in Nigeria. Weaponizing social media to gain popularity, which is so sad. People's emotions, in this case, can not help the suspect in the face of law. The man we are defending here once said, " Anyone with a functioning mind who has lived in diaspora will not come back to Nigeria to live. He further said that he lives in the US and he is not ready to come back and live in Nigeria.

  • @africanmessage9846

Mr. Dele Farotimi made a mistake by failing to get legal advice before publishing the book. Though he might have, he might have also anticipated that the hit would not come so swiftly.
There is a law in Nigeria if someone pursues it properly and has a defence. Mr Dele Farotimi and Aare Afe Babalola both have the right to defend themselves.
There should be no emotion when it comes to a court case. Evidence should be presented, and it should be the most important aspect of any case.
Mr Dele Farotimi is a lawyer, and he will undoubtedly defend himself if he has all of the proof to back up his claim; otherwise, he will face the penalties, or they may settle out of court.

@ there should be no settlement out of court. They should have an open and unbiased investigation/judgement. Which of course he will not get.
If Afe Babalola trained most of the lawyers in Nigeria, you can see the results by the judges/justice systems in Nigeria today.
Even without a trial, Dele Farotimi is right. The babalola approach shows that he’s part of the problem, but he was trying to go with unmerited respect. Dele has done well
