    I just shined my sink, which in turn made me want to clean off my counters... Already had my lace up shoes (my airwalks that look like the 10th Dr. Who's converse, however mine are purple). I have to give a short (hopefully) back story... I had found Flylady damn near 20 yrs ago. Followed through for awhile but then, life happened and I fell off of not just flylady but almost from life itself. Long story short (lol, yeah right), I'm back and just found you again my dear and this time, I mean business... Let's FLY!!!!

    I want to test-I-fly about getting dressed to shoes and shining your sink. I could easily see the wisdom of shining your sink at night. So that when you get up the next day, you're not faced with a huge task when you're sleepy and need coffee, lol! But as a stay at home mom, I wasn't really sure about the whole get dressed to shoes thing. However, I've been doing this for two weeks, and I must say I do feel better... I want to say I just feel better inside. I have paid more attention to what I have put on. And I have realized that there are many things in my closet and in my dresser that I just don't care for. After listening to this video and what you said about wearing things that you feel great in, I realize that that is a huge part of my issue… I don't feel great in a lot of the things I have. So, when I get into my master bedroom tomorrow to do my zone… I will be seriously considering letting go of some things that are dragging me down. I do think there is wisdom in what you are teaching us. I had not previously considered that I might really be depressed. But, I do think that I have been for years… Maybe not severely so but enough to hinder me. Thank you for some baby steps to help me out of my slump. I definitely see a brighter me in the mirror.

    God bless you Fly Lady, I’ve been battling depression for decades and didn’t even realize it because of all the major
    I’ve events happening back to back to back. Some may call it high functioning but I’m here to tell you I Was the “walking dead”. And the chaos in my house was a reflection of the chaos I’m my mind and spirit. I’m not not going to bore you with my story but I will say this, it was my own mother that said to me, “ I want my daughter back” that snapped me out of it. Though it took me forever, I’m finally at a place where I can actually see and feel what’s going on with me and live in the now. And for the first time in years, I’m able to tackle my “mess”. Your methods and videos are helping me now that I’ve arrived to that place where I can receive suggestions and advice and are greatly appreciated. For what it’s worth, so many of the things you’re saying are what my mom’s been telling me for years but I guess sometimes we need a little extra help to make the message stick. Keeping doing what you do because you help so many. Blessings to you and yours.

      Dot Cassilles So true. Sometimes we don’t want to admit that truth.
      For me, I think even though my mother planted seed, the external sources were the fertilizer. And one year later I’m now at a point where I’m strong enough to more freely let go as toss out the clutter that I was using as security blanket to help get me through the rough times. Thanks for responding.

    The worst things in life can be the cause of the best things in life...you just need to put in the work and work through the growing pains. Sometimes you need to break something to rebuild it better. I'm having a burnout (because of a narcissistic ex-boss) which is pure hell especially if you turn out to be high sensitive (which I didn't know I was but it explains A LOT). If you are always focussed on others you never look at yourself....you don't know you and your needs. I'm currently making a control journal to take control back over my life, its relaxing and empowering at the same time. All my sources of stress got a tab...and I'll fix each problem at a time...including a tab "me"...to make myself a priority. Its a tab to prevent stress...filled with things I like to do that give me energy. And now I look online and found out more people are making control journals. I didn't know it was a thing and called a control journal. Thats great it confirms I'm doing the right things. Great minds think alike I guess.
    A burnout sucks but you learn so much about who you are and who you are to others. I'm gonna be nicer to myself and stricter to others (instead of the other way around). And I knew I was a perfectionist but not the extend of it....not wanting to take a sick day was me being a perfectionist as well...who knew. I was like a hamster in a wheel....no more...I'm done working my butt off. And I used to critisize myself but never saw how great I already am. When you are a perfectionist you want 100%. So if you are 98% (which is already more then enough) you will want to improve those 2 percent....but you focus so much on those 2% you forget the 98%....you think you suck when you don't. And I thought I was weak....turns out I'm high sensitive and these aren't my emotions....I have more empathy and its the emotions of the people around me I'm picking up on that overpower me....I'm not weak I just need peace and quiet and some me time. 😂 I should have gotten to know me years ago. Thank God for my burnout.

    • @drpaddi
      @drpaddi 5 лет назад +2

      Maaike, that is such a wonderful way to look at and to proceed with a burnout. It sounds like you reached a crisis point and said, enough is enough. Instead of climbing into a hole and covering your head you and giving up you are working like a scientist looking for a solution and then implementing a scientific method, trying many things and reviewing your process by writing it all down. I am so impressed with you and the way you are going about this. Congratulations! You are also right that you will come out far better off than you were before the decision point. (FlyCrew Member, Paddi)

    • @maaiker2977
      @maaiker2977 5 лет назад +2

      @@drpaddi Thank you. 😁The "funny" thing is that after I had my burnout...2 people near to me got one as well...so I could help them process the things I just processed myself and see that my "nutty" behaviour was completely normal for a burnout. And I'm miss fix it by nature so of course these 2 came to me for help (I know thats not healthy for me but I wanted to help to feel like myself...helping them was helping me). They didn't have to feel like a mental patient cause I could tell them "Its normal, I went through that stage 4 months ago....it will pass...its because of this...have you tried this". I'm 90% healed now. It helps when you are honest with yourself that for once in your life you are not ok now and its ok you are not ok. And experience it with a bit of humor. You gotta laugh about yourself when you are experiencing a fight or flight responce. It is what it is. And I was told I am cognitively strong and my mind can control my high sensitivity....so I don't turn into a panicky emotional wreck on a daily basis....but during my burnout that control was gone and I got to know a whole new side of myself. 😂 Man do I notice a lot of (pointless) signs my brain normally filters out. 🤣When people ask me how I am....they don't get how it feels so I like to give them this example: It was like the computer that is your brain crashed. There was no program on it anymore not even your personality...things that make you you. Even your body gets illnesses caused by the stress like your heart is acting up and you think you're gonna die. But with time bit by bit programs get rebooted until one day Windows reappears on your computer (your personality....in my case my need for organisation and perfectionism....which was nice cause I recognise that woman..so you feel more like yourself but a curse cause you start to push yourself to recover faster so you need to manage that perfectionist as well from that moment on). You need to allow yourself to be sick (its the perfectionism...you wanna be a good worker/co-worker...you don't wanna fail by being sick). Now my computer looks normal but sometimes some settings are still off since the reboot and my internet still hasn't got its firewall back up so you have to watch out on which site you go.😜 My filter isn't 100% back yet so things just hit deeply sometimes or take much energy. And I'm already the person people go to for help again, but sometimes I realise I am left with their emotions after they leave. I seem to obsorb emotions but still have trouble shaking them off of me afterwards. But its a good thing I'm aware of it now. I used to do this on autopilot and never realised that its not something other people do. And its the reason I got tired out of the blue sometimes. But its funny learning you are high sensitive. Not only isn't it a weakness...its like getting a superpower. So I'm gonna take a Mindfulness course to focus more on that side of myself I don't know much about. Be more balanced and learn to listen to my feelings/body more. Basically learn to not just deal with it but really learn to use your superpower from now on. That and I learned to stay the hell away from narcissists. I can't recommand that enough to people.....don't even bother with their drama...they don't want help, they want to destroy the person who helps them. Its the same game over and over again with every action they take: stress and drama for you, power for them. And if you are miss fix it, you keep on running on their hamsterwheel of drama. So my new motto (which several people around me now use as well) is: "not my circus, not my monkeys". Its not my job to fix everything. 2019 for me is a year of healing, positivity, relaxation and organisation....nothing else.

      @@ronnalambeth6226 Thank you.😀
      I see its an old post of mine from 2 years ago. Little update;
      * I am fully recovered but more aware of my bounderies now. I intend to only do a burnout (and a narc for that matter) once.
      * I can recommend the mindfullness class. It already helped me greatly. I now notice when something feels wrong...when a boundery gets breached..and I see the red flags. I have 0 tolerance for toxic people. And I notice the small early signs of stress...I will not go down that path again and will nip stress in the bud now. I know where these roads lead to and instead of stopping it when its too late. Now I simply don't go on these paths again. Its a whole new way of living.
      * my narc and burnout (and the lockdown period that followed it) was a wonderful periode of transformation and personal growth for me. I wouldn't change a thing. By diving into MBTI I not only got to know myself but also the behaviors of others around me. And by taking a hard look at narcissism I discovered some toxic traits in myself as well. Perfectionism is a pitfall of mine but I no longer desire to be perfect...no one is perfect. I rather just live my life in balance with who I am. No more victimhood mentality but I am more proactive. And anyone that wants to manipulate me into feeling like a victim...RED FLAG. I used to be miss fix it, but its not my job to HAVE TO fix everyone. And sometimes you help someone more by teaching them to help themselves. My life is way more relaxed and happy now. I wish everyone a peaceful happy life in balance with who they truly are. Life is too short for anything else. 💜

    You don’t even know how much it means to me that you shared your own personal story. Listening to you gives me so much hope. Sometimes people look so perfect that it’s easy to think that they never struggled with anything which makes you feel even more hopeless and alone.
    Depression forces you to slow down like nothing else. My husband reminded me what a huge difference a mom and wife makes in a family. Women have the biggest impact on the tone and success of a family whether we like it or not. It’s easy to think that what we are doing at home isn’t worth much because we aren’t ‘working ‘
    It’s actually the opposite when you think about it. Having enough money to feel comfortable and not worried is important of course but the mood and how we relate to each other and the memories we make are what we think of at the end of our lives. You remind us of what is important and help us to make it possible to not get stuck on housework. Keeping our houses clean is a necessary part of a happy life but it needs to be as streamlined as possible. When we have a hard time cleaning and organizing it easily becomes the most important thing and a constant topic of upset. I am working on decluttering. We recently moved from a large house to a 2 bedroom apartment. The apartment is so much easier to keep clean but it also forces us to get rid of things that pull us down. It’s a work in progress...
    Thank you for telling us that we can do it !

    I can’t watch live because I’m not on Facebook and I’m at work when you do the show. So thank you for putting the link in the emails. You’re a blessing, and spoke words I really needed to hear today. I am off work on a scheduled vacation day, not for fun or to relax but because I’m so overworked and burned out but also two of my daughters expecting me to babysit tomorrow. When I say no they get very upset , so I have been saying yes even when it’s not good for me. So after working overtime for six weeks straight, I will have 4 little ones here tomorrow from 7 am to 2 pm. Then leave home and drive an hour to the other ones home and be there all evening. This meant I had to take the day off to get ready because my son moved in with me 10 days ago and there’s stuff everywhere out of place. Not safe for four very busy little ones 11 months to 7 years old. I was planning to act like it’s a work day but it’s raining, I have arthritis, I’m burned out, exhausted and just admit it I am depressed. Like you I was in a bad marriage, 32 years of emotional abuse but now I am free from that and home is a place of peace and acceptance. But here it is 11 am all I have got done is make coffee check email and watch Flylady. I am going to go put on the shoes I wear to work and do what I can, 15 minutes at a time. Thank you Flylady for the reminder of where I have been and where I am going now in life. New sticky on my vanity mirror says “the best revenge is success!”! Peace, love and blessings to you!

    ❣Thank you, Marla, nothing better could happen than to listen, knit and have my water and a nice cup of tea to calm myself in some really overwhelming minutes. I see, that you know what you're talking about. We often say: don't judge me, you're not walking in my shoes...but what if we ourselves are not wearing our shoes to avoid a start? No walking, just hanging around and waiting for a miracle... Thank you for supporting, it's the biggest gift I can imagine to feel understood and to be uplifted to the first steps from a loving soul. Wish you a happy Easter time, Monika, Germany❣

    The openness and honesty you share here is so appreciated. I was listening to your advice and it may seem so simple but it's truly powerful and effective. Each small task is an accomplishment. I thought about the times I've stopped to put on my athletic shoes at home and how it made me feel more motivated to do things like wash the front porch or clean out an area in the garage or even get to work scrubbing the walls in the house. It felt different than when I just slid on my flip-flops and went barefoot. I hadn't given it much thought but your video made me pause and really think about the times I felt most inspired or motivated to get moving versus times when all I wanted to do was go back to sleep and ignore the world. Thank you for sharing this. I'm recommending my friends and family watch this video and get to know you.

    I’ve overcome a situation much like yours. Thank you thank you thank you, for sharing. *BIG HUGS*
    I’ve spent the last 5 years learning to love myself (solo).
    I miss my former mother-in-law. She gave advice much in the way you do- very comforting. Thank you thank you thank you. I’ve always sought out elder matriarchs my entire life. I haven’t found one in my new city (Denver), yet.
    I’m thankful to have found you. You are so much more than a cleaning guru. I’ve only just begun to watch your videos. I can’t wait to get your book and begin the process.
    I don’t feel like taking the trash out... I’ve shoved the full heavy duty bags in a hall closet (otherwise the cats & dogs will tear into the bags). I’ve been trying to take them out to the dumpster, but depression stops me. (And I’m on meds) my dr says meds will not change my behavior. So I have been RUclips binging for motivation. I’ve laid in bed all day yesterday (my day off). Things are piling up.
    I can do this.
