Before I was up to date with paperwork, my morning routine consisted as follows... first time I entered kitchen with laundry basket in hand, to start washing machine, once the wash had started, I turned to paper hold-all, and SORTED through an inch of paperwork a day into respective piles (including throw away there and then).... 6 inches paperwork in one week.... 2ft in four weeks! Dealt with once a week in one fell swoop! For all that computers were supposed to create a paperless society, as was promoted back in the day, it never ceases to amaze how much comes through the letterbox! Now attended to immediately....makes a huge difference!

Your "Perhaps" bin really really helps because up until now, I have put all that should go into a 'perhaps' bin into my "To Do" bin, with everything that's important for action. It would be so big and overwhelming bcs I couldn't recall what all was in it. 😅 So thx so much for that great tip! God bless from Montana, USA

Great idea to have a "perhaps" category, I have to set this up.
I've stopped the paper clutter coming in (whew!) a couple of years ago, but I still have some boxes to deal with in the attic: college notes, photocopies from classes I've given... I think I will get these down out of the attic and tackle them in one lot this week, it's been on my to-do forever!! It can probably go in the bin but I will have a flick through just to make sure.
I am making great strides this month, finally getting my zone work and daily focus (the WHB still daunts me though!) and the house looks and feels so much more spacious and clear, thanks for all the support!! Niamh in Dublin

Hi Diane, I am very grateful to you for your menu planning tips!!!
Yesterday, I was at the doctor until 6:30 PM (it was a 445 pm appointment). I wasn’t worried about making dinner, because of your tip to look at your schedule before planning what kind of meal to have. I had planned for an easy meal that night! Just something I could throw together easily - rice and lentils.
So I wasn’t stressed out at the doctors office, or when I got home.
Having a menu, it’s really helpful to both my husband and I.He also checked the menu to see what to have. And I love only one grocery pick up day a week during pandemic. I check my pantry to see if I have the spices and ingredients first
    Thank you, thank you!

Papers are the worst for me. I have thrown away important things many times so now my DH organizes important papers. Bills and things like that that need to be dealt with weekly, i handle and i just have a basket near my computer. I don’t keep those papers once i am done with them. Most stuff is done online so don’t have to deal with papers. I make sure the basket is tiny so it forces me to deal with the bills as them come and not let it go past their time. I like to do my paperwork on Plan and Play day to. I do the bills and paperwork first and then i plan something fun to look forward to forward the end of the week or weekend .Your teachings helped me so much with this area of disorder 🥰

I used to be terribly distracted by background noise, such as a movie or video, and found myself frustrated for not being able to stay on task. I will definitely try your idea of sitting with a nice cup of coffee, a pleasant scent, and soothing music while I take ten minutes to sort.

A good system is in place for the household. Alan still has bins of book drafts and lesson plans, so I am doomed in this area! I am working with him with the last of the his photo organization and old letters. TY. So good to see you! It was warm enough to get paw prints off the porch doors but more snow is coming in. We loaded up the Subaru with the vintage items from the garage and the recycling and headed into town. We sold all the vintage items in the car to a wholesaler and then dropped off the metal and cardboard. Trash pickup was this morning, so we are pretty well cleaned out. We have some items to drop off on a friends porch later this week. I pushed myself to order on sale and with a coupon , a good supply of tee shirts for the spring and summer. Gave myself a mini mani this afternoon and am taking a break until I have to transport someone this evening. The household paper system is pretty good here. Junk mail does not cross the threshold. Most bills are online, as well as correspondence, so very little gets through the filter system! I do write and send cards but rarely receive any written responses, sadly. We do receive occasional packages but is a rarity.

What do you do with paper “needing action“ where that action is for example reading it and deciding if you want to keep it! Like a magazine with a couple of interesting articles in it or recipes, or movies at a Local place that you might want to go to... ? I have talked English over the years and also worked a little with people learning German, and I’ve started getting better at tossing things that might be “good for a class“! Miscellaneous interesting reading texts etc. ... it sometimes has to do with what our current focus in life is, and requiring decision on that first…
Another question I have is about receipts from when I go shopping. If I didn’t buy anything that I might want to return, what should I do with them? That’s a question of financial habits I suppose overlapping with paper habits. I don’t particularly have a bookkeeping system at the moment…

Thank you so much for laying paper clutter out step by step! I have heard quite a bit about the fly lady method and I am intrigued! Also, I adore your earrings! What brand are they?

This is an area I really want to get control of in a system that works for me. As a T2 I have piles of papers because I just hate taking the time to file them. I keep them ‘just in case’ and other than home, birth, tax records I rarely need any of it. I feel like filing just delays the inevitable step of purging them later.

Would you recommend doing the paper in little increments everyday after our routines are finished and we’ve done our zone? My paper is in my basement but this week I’m in my master bedroom.

This video was very helpful thank you, but I had a thought about your mini diffuser. Here in New York in the winter The air is very dry and I have to run some thing with water in it to keep my nose from bleeding. Isn’t it dry where you live? I think of this every time you mention your mini defuser because I couldn’t live in winter without mine that runs with water

It's humid here so no problems with my diffuser! Hope that helps!
