- Wendy’s will soon test a plan to fluctuate menu prices based on the time of day and location similar to the surge pricing that ride-sharing companies like Uber use.

I swear these CEOs just sit around and think of ways to gouge the American Consumer all day long.
They do
That's literally their job.
100% agree but if you don't eat this garbage it's not a big deal. You could buy chicken, potatoes, veg & fruit for a $12 Wendy's combo..
That is their job. But this CEO is an idiot. All it is going to take is the next highest competitor with a similar product (chicken focused with burgers) to do a strong national marketing campaign to say “we will never trick you with our pricing. We pledge that it will always be the lowest we can afford to offer our guests.” And they are going to knock Wendy’s from that #2 seat, even if they don’t take it themselves.
Wendy’s is leaving themselves wide open for a mass exodus of brand loyalty.
@user-cr5il4wz8d I'll get a burger at In-N-Out every once & a while. It's funny because they have fresh food, reasonable prices, great customer service, & pay their employees livable wages.
This alone just confirmed that even if we are in a hurry my family will not eat a single fast food item ever again. Price gouging is insulting and greedy. I will not be subjugated to this type of behavior
AMEN
ITS DISGUSTING AND A LOW THING TO DO
Agree! Your good example of thrift & self-respect is a legacy your kids will pass down.
Yup. Consume nothing. Punish GREEDFLATION
@Modok.Saint424 I don't crave that crap. It was a go to on road trips or if the day got super busy. The foods not even that good anymore. Quality has gone down over the years. This literally sealed the deal. Our family won't be supporting any type of fast food. You don't need to be condescending because I am not the only person who has and will be cutting fast food out of their diet. Yes these fast food chains tht implement this will fail and I will not feel bad for hem one bit.
@@plowe6751 Something does not need to be a necessity in order to be subjugated. Thanks for playing, come again.
That is enough to say bye forever to that chain and any other that does that kind of scam pricing.
Exactly
Agree 100%
They said it won't happen until 2025, but starting the ban in 2024
Agreed. I'm not going to patronize a scammer. Wendy's is OUT.
@@MM-xc2bt I'm starting the ban today. If they would do that who knows what else they are doing to the food. They have no morals. I won't eat anything from Wendy's again.
LOL. No more Wendy's for my family. Which, is a good thing for us. Thanks Wendy's for encouraging us to make healthier choices!
As Someone who worked for Wendys from May 2006 to February 2009, I can name 5 Reasons:
1. Parent Company ConAgra. They've been the WRONG Parent Company for Wendys since July 2010. Ever since they took over, Wendys has lost 30% in overall Revenue.
2. Underpay. ConAgra/Quality is Our Recipe is an Understatement. ConAgra doesn't care about Quality, NOR do they care about fair Pay. When Proctor and Gamble/Oldemark,LLC ran Wendys, they always made sure Franchisees treated and paid employees. I made $6.55 HR in 2006 when the National Wage was Stagnated at $5.15. Its Criminal how much Wendys Employees make now.
3. Food Quantity over Quality. When I worked at Wendys in 2006-2009, Quality,Freshness and MORALE were the core elements of what made working for them so Great. It was Always important that even if we ran out of supplies at our then HUGE Revenue driving West Houston Restuarant Store, to ALWAYS made everything taste Fresh and Great.
4. Price Gouging. They Pulled this Nonsense in 2009 as well. The Chair was convinced that hiking prices because of the Recession was the way to go. Thomas herself was ok with this, but Argued that .50 hike was FAR much more feasible than a $2 hike. Wendy kept arguing that Raising Prices by $2 was a disastrous idea, she insisted going easy on the price hike because Whataburger and In N Out Founders were able to do it with No problem, but the Chairboard told her THEY know what's best and Quote "You're Father's Old Recipe is getting Passe and its time to overhaul it" at the time Wendys spiked the prices up on its Old Menu in '09, it was out of Greed. This time, its out of Desperation.
5. Their Menu Sucks. Let's Face it, Since 2010, Wendys Menu is a complete Shadow of its former self. Dave Thomas was at Wendys from the beginning in 1969 until the end of his life in January 2002. And The Reason why The Thomas Family Stayed put throughout the entire '00s is because P&G realized one simple thing "If it ain't broke, Don't fix it". Wendy, her Sisters, Brother-in-Laws(Wendy's Husband Carl died tragically at 39 in 1999) and even Dave's 17 year old Grandson Orville ALL had an Emotional and Tearful Investors QA with Oldemark and P&G in February of 2002. Wendy emotionally put out the argument while it was important to leave Dave Thomas' Menu as is and that Everything has worked all the way to now with her Father and his Menu, it was the right thing getting rid of the Salad Bar(Because it was pretty much the ONLY thing not turning a profit). P&G and Oldemark agreed and vowed "NEVER to Change it". But in July of 2010, 8 years later, Wendys Chairboard told Wendy Thomas "We Call ourselfs Old Fashioned and its time to Stop being Old Fashioned. The Old Menu is history. If you can't agree to that, then Get out.".
In 2024, Wendys isn't just a Former Shell of itself, its COMPLETELY out of Touch.
It already isnt worth $15 for a chicken sandwich, you want to make it $25-30 at lunch rush?
Im good Ill make a sandwich at home.
Eat for free at home and save big $$$! 😂😂😂
Right, and here I thought it was bad when they took away the junior spicey chicken in the first place.
@svongsa how is it free. You still need to buy the food to many it unless you have a farm
Exactly..Even with inflation you save ALOT by eating at home.
@@TaccRaccoonI don’t need a farm I eat that puzzy
Nope. I won't do business with restaurants of any kind that adopt surge pricing. Gonna be interesting when people start to take photos of those electronic menus and posting them to show how far the greed goes.
i started doing this but with uber, u contract with uber or doordash i dont do business, im not waiting 45 min in drive through behind midnight crossers who shouldnt be working, havent visited a resturant or tipped in 3 yrs
I will boycott any company that does that. So tired of the ripoffs. Wendy's and the rest are already expensive. Time to stop buying this junk.
Breaking news: in Alabama eggs are now $10 each as they are actually considered whole chickens.
only the fertilized ones, not the ones you eat
double check that, I've heard it both ways@@chobiden7770
Hahaha!!
These companies will make record profits not increase employees pay and the food quantity will go down , nothing like good old American greed
Human greed, not American greed
Thats Capitalism for ya
@@chobiden7770 Come on man you have to admit, we are pretty damn bad at it.
No sales will plummet along with the stock price too.
The crazy thing about this is that during that "surge" they likely won't have any additional staff on to speed up those orders 😂
You know it.
the current employees will get the surge pay of minimum wage.
I’ll probably never eat there again. Just flirting with this is dystopian AF.
I will boycott any food chain that starts this crap.
Do your arteries a favour and keep them from surging and avoid that disgusting expensive crap , love when greed backfires
Corporate greed is simply out of control in America.
Surge pricing is a ripp off as if their prices aren't high enough now this is just another form of price gauging it's criminal
They are just testing the limits of how high they can get away with these prices people! Don't let this become mainstream and stop eating Wendys!
I could see McDonald’s trying this but Wendy’s? No… They are not even a fast food leader in terms of marketshare to pull this off. They are a distant third place burger chain behind McDonald’s and Burger King…
@@MicklowFilms Wendys should be brought out by KraftHeinz.
*So what Wendy's is saying is "don't eat at our restaurant anymore".*
Boycott Wendy’s for sure now. This is all about greed.
fast not real food, total garbage.
When y'all want it fast and cheap how do you expect quality?
no more wendy's for me
No more Wendy's for me either.
@@bennybenny3749 Was that supposed to be *an insult? It's comin off like it intends to be, but really ain't.
Even announcing this makes me want to never eat at Wendy’s again. And I like Wendy’s. One of the only fast food chain restaurants I like. Always wait for a Wendy’s on a cross country roadtrip. I guess that’s over.
I have a slightly better idea than cereal. We eat the rich, and we start soon.
thats why we dont allow you 12 yr olds to vote or drive, mushbrains.
"Wendy's will introduce new pricing scheme to create less crowded stores."
I wouldn’t care if I never had Wendy’s again for the rest of my life.
the secret to fast food(franchise)success is consistency.this flies in the face of that.
Just deleted my Wendy’s app. With minimum wage at close to $18.00 per hour fast food is no longer worth it.
Wendy's just solidified I'll never eat their food again
i will literally NEVER buy anything from Wendy's again just because of this.
If this doesn't fail, and others adopt it. It may be the push many need to quit fast food addiction.
I feel like the fast food world is crumbling in front of our eyes. Prices are getting insane and it’s greed. Mom and pop stores are gonna rise again and thrive off this. Support small businesses.
I may eat fast food a couple times a month, but the pricing is so stratospheric, I only eat whatever the "special" is. In a strange way, it has opened me to sandwiches or meals I otherwise would not have tried before. Mostly have been quite good, with a couple of "heck naw, never again".
Money hungry Monsters are running Wendy's .
Time to boycott.
Yes, starting now. 🚫
Crazy how Wendys has gone from having a dollar menu that you can feast on for 3-4 bucks at most and now ya'll gotta drop at least 6 bucks to get something decent smh 😢
Gee...another reason to hate Wendy's.
JUST ANOTHER REASON WHY NOT TO EAT AT WENDY'S 🚫
BONUS IS THAT IT'S CARDIOLOGIST RECOMMENDED
GREEDFLATION. Do not consume. Live frugal, supply and demand will force these pos companies to drop prices.
Whoever thought of this needs to find themselves on the other side of the poverty line.
So you don't what it costs until you get up to board? Screw that.
Your frosty is 20 bucks because it's hot outside 😂
Fast food is going to eat it’s self.. and be no more!🎉
Rarely do I go out to eat anymore even at my most favorite ma and pa restaurants.
Good riddance to Wendy's.
Why has it become universally difficult to serve a god damn hamburger today.
This will go over like a pregnant pole vaulter.
lol
Cereal it is.
Terrible idea 😂
That just means people are go when the prices are lower, in turn raising prices
Right, the declining customers will humble them watch 😂
Wendys acting like they're the only fast food chain around, there are many other options to choose from.
Wendy’s is already way too high. Hadn’t been in several months but went by recently and got a baconator meal and it was $15. I can get out of numerous sit down restaurants cheaper than that at lunch.
It's cheaper to go to outback than Wendy's.
Wendy's has gone downhill. Old , cold, and expensive.
When I was a kid, I wouldn't have minded Fruit Loops for dinner. With surge pricing, if I got in the drive-up line at Wendy's at 11:58 am when the burger was $3, but by the time I ordered it at 12:01 pm, the price went up to $30, I wouldn't be happy. People working graveyard would be thrilled. My first job was at Taco Bell. This was decades before electronic signs. The prices stayed the same until we got new signs with the new price.
Fast food isn't even fast anymore. Now pay more, for subpar service. 😂stock gonna tank
Problem: Surge Pricing Solution: Boycott 🤔
Dave Thomas is rolling over in his grave.
Never eating here again.
as a Canadian that started going to the US a couple of years before the pandemic I was jealous of the food prices. But now they are pretty much on par.. almost. So there's no point in going to the US for things anymore,
now it's a matter whether you want a Wendy's combo for $15 or a box of cereal that will last you a week $10.
Fast food is grossly unhealthy...😂😂😂
Don’t get a chicken sandwich in the hood y’all. 😂
RIP Wendy's - You just committed suicide with your "dynamic surge pricing" or whatever your calling it this week. A rip-off is a rip-off.
Let me know how badly it goes as I have not walked into a Wendy's restaurant in almost 2 years now. My lunch budget is and shall remain $5 a day. If Wendy's cannot find a way to sell me a full-size hamburger and 20 oz drink for $5 then they need to go ahead and lock the doors and go home. Wendy's needs to be talking to their suppliers not their customers!
People has to stand up, and avoid Wendy's!
Can't wait for; "Your bid of $5.19 for a burger was not accepted at this time"
Honestly Wendy's is the only fast food I get these days. This would finally cure me of that.
I would like to thank fast food for helping me break my addiction to fast food. I'll be at the local Coney island instead.
Higher wages = Higher prices
Learn how to cook already people. Its still cheaper and better for you!
If Wendy's brings in this money grab, they will not get one more dollar from me or my family.
If we provide incentive structures towards gouging the price of food for the average American and effectively starving them out of the market, then it's time to reevaluate the current system we operate under.
Talk with your wallets. Not spending another cent at Wendy's ever .
So the advertisement that was seen is not the price when I get to the store.
Hadn’t had Wendy’s in years and here’s another reason.
Wendy’s is now a restaurant I’ll never visit
Boycotting Wendy's. Corporate greed at it's best.
Bye, Felicia! We don't support criminal PRICE GOUGING. Glad you have that easy 20 Mill for your new PRICE GOUGING BOARDS. If the rest of your loyal customers leave like us, maybe you can use those boards to watch the fluctuation of your loss of revenue, decline of customers and racking up of debt as we will NEVER buy food from you again. BUH BYE, Wendy's!
We do not eat fast food because it is good, we eat it because we are hungry, broke, and desperate.
Walmart lobbying real hard to keep them from competing
next week: surge pay, when the business is busier you get min wage else ...
Wendy's just ruined over a decades worth of building brand love with their social account over this announcement. People loved Wendy's Twitter and it definitely played a role in increasing sales. I PROMISE you I will never eat there again.
High -COST- PRICE of food - FTFY ABC News
One bullshit press release after another. Each "clarifying" the previous b.s. Dynamitic Pricing = Surge Pricing. The spent $$$ setting this up and they're not going to throw it all out now. The food you get there is crap, and now they expect the public to pay a double for it? NFW!
Wendy’s really looked at NYC congestion pricing and said “hey let’s do that but for food”
Uber and Lyft can get away with it because they have a duopoly on the market. Wendy’s is just one of many competitor fast food chains, people will just go elsewhere to eat…
$10 for 50 chicken nuggets was a good deal. Rip to that
Price gouging. Corporate greed at its best.
Like these people need to make more money they are already profiting. How about y’all surge price my pay rate.
Last time i eat at Wendy’s. It’s already overpriced garbage, and now they want even more?! And the drive thru wait times and customer service haven’t improved with these ridiculous prices…
SO WHAT THEY'RE TRYING TO DO IS LIKE VEGAS...
POPULAR EVENT IN TOWN ALL HOTELS RAISE THEIR PRICES... AVERAGE TIME OF THE MONTH REGULAR PRICING
WHEN THERE'S INCREASED DEMAND THEY RAISE THEIR PRICES
SO LUNCHTIME EVERYTHING COSTS MORE
OPPORTUNISM
YOU WON'T KNOW THE PRICES UNTIL YOU GET THERE, YOU CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHERE TO EAT LUNCH FOR EXAMPLE
JUST ANOTHER REASON WHY NOT TO EAT AT WENDY'S
Stop yelling your post in all caps, you rude jerk.
Wendy's: Customers are stupid.
Let's gouge 'em.
Customers: Buh-bye, Wendy's!
when your analytics dept is a bunch of 20 yr olds trying to start tiktok careers this is what you get, i would agree with wendys generation stupid.
How do the kids put it these days? “You got me effed up?”
Bullshit just like they do with rent
Eat cereal for dinner. Great solution! 😅👏
It called happy hour
Taxing gouging the people policies
Stop eating fast food, it’s killing you
Good, I don't want to have to be around
I cut back tremendously on fast food since bldenomics took effect.
😂😂 dumbest idea for corporate greed
Simple solution stop eating at these places 😊
Just one more way to rip us off.
. i always carry two slices of dry bread with me and when hungry have something to eat so i don't depend on fast food services .
People love Capitalism... until it doesn't serve their interests. 😅
this is a very bad strategy.
I mean sit down restaurants do this and call it happy hour or dinner menu, but at least they are obvious about it and most customers know if they go at dinner menu time, its more money. If Wendy's just randomly changes the prices and there's no knowing what location has higher prices or not, I'll go to McD's, Burger King, Jack-in-the-box, Sonic, etc.
Lol what a joke prices should decrease at busy times. This will not be an issue at our Wendys since it is the worst fast food restaurant in our town. Boycott Wendys hey corporate emailed you and called a few times got no responds. Tell your staff to stop vaping in the kitchen. Total joke go ahead increase your prices put yourself out of business. Competitors keep your eyes open on " How to ruin your business in a few easy steps"
the last time stocker cattle supply was this low was 1951.
Im happy to say I have not eaten at Wendy's since this sht came out and I will never again.
They are out of their minds . They are going to go bank rupt . You want to stay in business and keep the customers you have you better vote for trump or you can eat it yourself .and we want you to bring prices back to prior Biden prices.
