Five guys was expensive before the pandemic
That's exactly what I was thinking! They try to justify the price by giving you a ton of 🍟🍟.
Sure was and the habit too
true. it's insane
Five Guys was expensive regardless. Period.
Only fast food I eat now is In N Out and that’s infrequent. I make my own burgers and sandwiches
Now it takes 5 guys to buy one burger.....
Good one! Funny
Yes funny.
you come with 5 guys maybe they give you a discount
Haaaaaaaaaaaa
😂
I stopped buying 5 guys when a burger combo meal was $17.50, and that was FOUR YEARS ago.
They never have a "combo" meal in Austin. Drinks and Fries are individually priced.
I stopped going when they wanted me to tip for counter service. That and my heart.
TOO EXPENSIVE FOR ME-meet you all at the Supermarket.
lol😀
That starting to become a problem too. Of course not for these illegal immigrants the biden admin is letting in. 🤷♂️
We got five guys at home
Yeah, buy a pound of ground beef, pickles, onion, lettuce, and bun and eat burgers for 3 days for the price of ONE trip to 5 Guys.
Yeah McDonalds is too expensive def not buying 5 guys 😂😂😂
Refusal to buy is always the consumers' strongest weapon.
Yeah how is that working against McDonalds - their prices are also sky high and they are seeing record profits. Most of this is because of inflation. Your dollar will continue to buy less and less with our current government.
Tbf, it has no power, because today's people are weaklings. Convenience over morals. 💯
💯
@@Machaotake they wont see record profits but for a short period. once word gets around people arent paying that price.
Me as of tomorrow, this whole fast food eating out has really been putting a dent on my pocket lately enough is enough
The real outrage should be about those $5 french fries. Potatoes are not expensive, you can get like 5 pounds of them for a few bucks.
Their potatoes are from Idaho. That’s one reason they are so tasty.
No kidding. Idc where they get them from. For a “little” fry it shouldn’t be $5+. I stopped eating there.
The portion sizes for fries are huge and they’re best tasting. You get what you pay for.
Potatoes are 5 bucks minimum not a few bucks but yes you’re right 🎉
@@MandyAliensit's like a buck for a russet potato and making fries from just 1 is more than enough for a serving.
Rents, bills, gas prices, groceries, dining out, car insurance - everything is rising these days, except people's salaries. How can you cope with inflation???? It's getting harder and harder to save!
Not if you're an illegal or choose to become a squatter 🤷♀️
@@Buttercup84So everyone who complains about Five Guys is an illegal. Good intelligence you have there.
the salaries here in quebec have almost doubled in the last 10 years! I remember when I was working in QA testing (2012-2014) in huge video game companies in Montreal, I was getting the awesome salary of 10 to 12$ an hour, the only way I was making ''good money'' was with overtime where sometimes i was paid x2 per hour, most of the time x1.5. Nowadays, if you go work at Mcdonalds in Quebec, you start minimum 16$ to 18$ an hour during the day, and if you work at night, you get something between 18 and 21$ per hour!!! That's crazy to me...a young teenager starting his first job in a fast food joint is making almost double what I was making back in 2012 when I was working with dozens of different softwares and database and testing out compliance issues and communicating with different teams etc etc. I don't know how it is elsewhere in Canada and in the US, but here the salaries are crazy high compared to a couple of years.
Your entire comment is a complete lie ! Wages have been going up at the same rate as inflation ! I know because Joe Biden said so !

The opposite bud. Read again
I brought a meat grinder and make my own burgers now using Brisket, Chuck, Short Rib mix and get the best quality burger for a fraction of Fast Food price. The labor price of paying a employee $15 a hour should not have that much of an effect on burger prices if they selling hundreds of burgers a hour
Lets say 10 employees at $15 per hour or $1500 per hour (not even including taxes). Labor cost is typically 30%, fast food actually tries to run a lower labor cost, but will use the average. Take a $21 hamburger combo, that means $7 goes to labor that would be about 240 hamburger combos per hour every hour open. That does not occur, there are many slow hours and prep before and after operating hours. So, what ends up happening, fewer people doing more work and/or automation, which means less jobs.
@@zalronwow7222 for the last 10 years we was hearing how automation was going to get rid of fast food employees 😂😂😂😂 when are they going to automate to get rid of employees and will that reduce prices?
I hardly go to Five Guys anymore. Over 20 bucks for one person is RIDICULOUS for one person.
I wasn't going to Five Guys even back then when it was "cheaper" because while other places had meals for $5 or $6, they were selling their regular cheeseburger for $8. And when I finally tasted one it was just a basic cheeseburger, I don't even understand why its so popular specially at their prices.
That was my case when I went there 2 years ago.
The food was good. But the receipt amount surprised me.
@@diegolara4202 I guess a lot of stores rely on the business niche of: "We're not McDonald's or Walmart."

People are only complaining about 5 guys now? They were always price gouging people since the start even before inflation
I never got it. Their burgers are just one notch better than fast food chains'. Find any average local diner, bar, BBQ joint, or even Italian deli and you'll probably get a better burger.
Now they're really feeling the heat. They can't afford it anymore, so they're complaining. If they did they wouldn't complain even if the prices were outrageously high.
EXACTLY! they were expensive in 2019.
This^ They were expensive in 2015 also, and we didnt consider it "fast food" like the dope head in the video Edit: to continue idk whats changed that made people think this was like a fast food place like mcdonalds there's not even a drive thru as far as i know, maybe different locations are different
I think they were the FIRST burger place to sell everything on their menu a la cart. There are no combos on their menu, so there is your first hint at a problem. Keep in mind a sit down, dine-in restaurant sells a $25 burger!
They're (mostly) doing it because they can. During the 2022 inflation surge restaurants noticed they could pass on costs quite extensively to consumers. When costs started deflating, they just kept the higher margins and continued to test out how high they could push their margins. This continued throughout the supply-chain until there was pushback.
The prices went up so much but the food quality went down. Paying $25 for a meal and having all the food be cold and stale will make anyone never go back.
Who is the greater fool here? The restaurant arguably overcharging for the food? Or you, letting them gouge you?
Them, because it will cost them the business
Both? People paying for it and the eventual decrease in profits in their businesses versus what was decades ago.
I’m hungry 😢😂
yup, just boycott and make a big public deal about it like bud light. Dont let them overcharge and take advantage any longer

This used to be my favorite place to get a burger. I stopped going because of how high the prices got. It's insane.
The craziest thing is the people still paying those prices.
It’s ridiculous to hear complaining but you see those same people continuing to eat the food. That’s literally insane. Why are you partaking in your own abuse?
Its crazy that is directly because of all the illegals coming, printing money, and sending all this forigen aid to terrorist organizations. Its not rockets science. If you can see what the dems have been doing, you should care about the price.
Shouldt care😂 sorry lol
@@AnthonyMercado-1988 Yes, it is crazy that us humans, also known as animals, are abused by the man, and you pay taxes when you buy a car, taxes on your car for your tags every year, taxes for the roads your car drives on, taxes the man takes out for your privilege to work, and more. That is abuse and so much so that some have to live in poor conditions to make ends meet. People get killed or die in the millions each year. It's selfish to cry about it.
When I noticed the prices last time I went, I made the decision to go less often. I'm not paying that much for a carry out burger...a great burger, but still just a burger.
On top of that, they have the nerve to ask if we want to tip?
and that tip never goes to the worker but instead the boss who is making so much already.

Fast food is not at all worth it anymore. Just get fresh made quality food from a proper restaurant for the same price
With lots of added salt, fat, etc. for flavor. And it's STILL very expensive.
Just get healthy food from a regular grocery store, eat it at home, and it's a TON cheaper AND healthier. And prepared right, you can even taste the FOOD instead of lots of salt and pepper, etc.
The funny part is that restaurants say inflation is what increased food prices but when inflation starts going down we never see them decrease their prices. The price just always remain the same. It getting absolutely ridiculous at this point.
This needs more light. People need to start getting mad that we've only ever really had like 2 deflations in American history.
Just remember inflation isn’t going down we are still up 18-20% in the last 3 years plus the 3 % they are bragging about now
Inflation going down doesn't mean prices ever go down. That's kind of the whole point of calling it inflation. The price goes up at a rate relevant to the inflation. If inflation goes down, it simply means the price goes up slower.
Deflation (relative to cost of other goods) does happen, but rarely. Usually on durable goods, not things we consume. (TVs, appliances, computers, quite a few other electronics - the more basic ones, not the top of line all the bells and whistle versions) TVs especially are far less expensive now (relative to inflation) than they used to be. Unfortunately corporations now will push the price of the things we consume as far as possible to test the limits. I'm pretty sure that now cost of living has passed the sustainable threshold, its just a question of how long it takes for the house of cards to fall.
Hasbro raised their prices & blamed the high price of oil. Oil prices went down but Hasbro raised their prices even more. I've been a Transformers fan since the very beginning in 1984 but I finally had to quit collecting them because of the insane prices.
Again as it has been said before, STOP EATING OUT FOR ONE MONTH, ANYWHERE, AND WATCH THEM LOWER THEIR PRICES!!!!
Said something very similar.
Take for example 10k users, from that 10k you will have 10% users with common sense, now do the math, as long there is sheep you can cut their wool, saying in my country. Next thing you will see burgers are gonna rise 150% more in few years, and still you gonna have majority buying them.
They can't lower their prices under the biden hyperinflation economy. You can't force businesses to pay $20/hr and still sell burgers for $7. The employees are going to get replaced by Kiosks and robots and only then will prices decline.
Stop voting democrats as well. Make your distain noted at the voting booth. What do you think happens when all these people think that $15, $20, etc. is an acceptable wage for a fast food worker. People are so naive to think that the cost of all things rising is not going to the consumer. Remember what gas cost under a republican president?
They also pay more for their supplies and food that get delivered to them. It’s a vicious cycle. It all stems from the high price of diesel fuel which went sky high since Biden got in the WH 😡
Simple....stop eating there!
Meanwhile, In-N-Out still charges $6 for a double-double (~$10 once you include fries and a drink) in the middle of Los Angeles while paying their managers over $100,000. And the lowest worker makes more than California minimum wage (which is already one of the highest in the country). And they're still turning profits.

@@PhilUrwife I agree. McDonald's is starting to feel pressure. People are not buying from them like before, and McDonald's has no choice now but to find a solution. Consumers have the power to make a difference.
People are too addicted and morgan spurlock lied about his exaggerated symptoms in supersize me as they came from his alcoholism.
What makes you think they don't understand.
Some of them may be busy and need a quick meal.
I doubt if all of them are eating fast food every day.
Besides that, have you been to a grocery store?
It isn't much cheaper.
Package shrinkage.
Almost 5 bucks for tv dinner.
In San Diego, a fish taco chain called Rubio’s was also the “expensive place,” but now everything else caught up to it, except In-N-Out, which is still cheaper. 🤷♂️
I've never had it for that reason .I walked into Five Guys once and walked right back out after seeing the prices. 20 bucks a little Burger little fry and a drink. And that was like almost more than 5 years ago
This is the reasonable and sensible thing to do.
Money wise person.
I have a food truck and the best part is I buy local meat from a butcher and local potatoes from farmers and I can still keep prices down. No big chain supports the local people and that's why HUGE food suppliers have a hold on the market! Support your local people not big food chains!
They still pay 7.25 an hour in Texas in some places. So that's just a lie. People are being overcharged for nothing. America needs to get this shipping nonsense under control. Otherwise we won't be able to afford life anymore.
It’s crazy how they say labor is goin up but they don’t pay their workers anymore
Executive bonus is part of labor cost
Well actually most of the places ARE paying more than they were before the PLANDEMIC. They had to because of all the free money that the COMMUNIST REGIME in the White House was giving to people to keep them home. Then you factor in places like Commiefornia who recently raised their minimum wage yet again. Idk why people are shocked by this. It’s simple economics….whenever it’s going to cost a company more to do anything they just pass that cost on to the consumer. Try dealing with all that while living in a state like NC where the MINIMUM WAGE HASN’T CHANGED IN OVER 15 years….its still $7.25/HR
they definitely do... $18/hr starting at mcdonalds
@@NuggsDD McDonalds only pays that at international locations lol.
Five Guys was always overpriced.
You're not obligated to eat at 5 Guys or any other fast food spot 🤷🏾♂️

Instead of asking fives guys why there burgers is so expensive why do you ask Joe Biden why is so expensive!!!
Five Guys was always expensive. People just realizing that now? If you go to five guys in New York anywhere it’s never normal people. Always lawyers doctors stock traders etc eating there. That’s where I always do meets with business people.
They say STOP eating. Yet prices for groceries are insanely high as well. SMH this country is going to crap.
The price of groceries even in NYC is a fraction of the cost of fast food. For the price of a burger and fries I can eat any type of sea food or beef like Filet Mignon or Rib Eye with a salad, side, desert and coffee for less. I made an entire rack of ribs for less than 1 Quarter Pounder..
Maybe, but you can make a burger at home in the cents rather than 12$. Why is a burger at five guys 12? Because you paid for it, obviously.
A bag of potatoes is much, much cheaper than one order of fries, and one can make multiple sets of homemade French fries !
The country is going to crap because you do not like the price of fast food, something not available 100 years ago in the good old days ?🤣🤣
its already there
I went to Five Guys once and never went back. It was like $15 for a burger, fries, and drink…and that was about 6 years ago.
I think they are way overpriced but I stopped going there because I thought their burgers were way too greasy. I hated having to wipe my bands and face every time I took a bite of their burgers. I don't expect all burger joints to serve dry flavorless patties, but they shouldn't be oozing grease either.
Agree just trash
Same here, walked in and walked straight back out again …RIP OFF

Logically, this sounds good. But then, what will the out of work staff do? So while i agree... i prefer that the staff continues to work.
About 20 years ago my friend raved about Five Guys and made me come with him for a meal. I remember thinking the costs were high then and the quality wasn't that great. Never went back. I can't imagine spending $12.50 for a fast food burger. That is insane.
There is a bit of an issue when a single cheeseburger by itself with no fries, and no drink cost more money than a 20 pack of beef patties
In Portland I recently walked out of a Wendy's when I was quoted over 17 dollars for 2 plain single patty cheese burgers and 2 small fries. And here we don't have a sales tax.
Until Covid, I got cheeseburgers at McDonald's from the value meal for $1, and from Wendy's for like $1.29 or $1.39.
I quit eating that stuff for my health. I'd NEVER go back, even if it magically became healthy, for the prices.

Yeah…you paid $6 for a coffee but you have no complaint 😂

Okay, but look at the expenses used to harvest, transport, import, and process. There was a lot of refinement that adds value to the product. It’s economics. Someone got the bright idea of selling coffee in Seattle for a lot more than what it was worth many years ago, and the rest is history.
You’re blaming people because both hamburgers and coffee are too expensive?
True that! They both can kick rocks
$6 would be a deal
5 guys has never been cheap. And blasphemy for comparing it to BK and McDs. Not the same
Someone said that it's time to be concerned when you start to see individuals shoplifting groceries rather than big-screen televisions, and i agree. Truth is, inflation will never reach 2% ever again, maybe in the next life, but not this one. Anyone purchasing groceries and gasoline is aware that real inflation is much over 10%; they simply lie about it like cheap blankets. In reality, interest rates would be in the 20s because of how high inflation is. But then despite the severe bear market, I am aware of certain investors that continue to earn over $365,000. Wish I could accomplish that.
I totally agree, it's been three years and counting, and I've made over 1.7 million by simply following a coach's advice. I was on the sidelines for a while watching, trying to determine the best time to get in, before I came across a coach, recommended by my wife. I was reluctant at first but I went ahead and contacted the coach. As a small reward for my consistency, I went on a trip to the Bahamas in the late summer. haha
My wife and I just had this conversation this morning. This is exactly how we wish to get our finances coordinated ahead of retirement. Can I get access to your advisor?
Monica Mary Strigle that's my advisor I use
, I got to know her through my wife. It's my wife that has her contact, but you could further investigate her credentials and contact her yourself. She's well-grounded and known, shouldn't be a hassle finding her page, just look up her name.
Just did a copy and paste search of Monica on my browser and her page popped up immediately, thank you for saving me hours of researching.
I stopped eatting at 5 guys after i realized i was spending 15 dollars on a sloppy greasy burger. What a joke. Place will be out of business soon anyways
Very greasy. Went to FiveGuys a few months ago and that burger ran right through me. Won’t be doing that again. 😞
Bro it’s 17 bucks at McDonald’s 😅 I rather get five guys for three bucks more I don’t get drinks usually so I’m saving money
Or or you can save all the more by eating at places that are cheaper and good like In and out etc @@Vahig7
Look how fresh their food is though. Buffalo Wild Wings profits are almost 7 times higher with their wings than five guys is with their burgers… Buffalo Wild Wings buys their chicken wings at $1.50 a pound and sells them for $17…
@@Vahig7 What do you live that McDonald's is that high. I live in California and a Big Mac Meal with a drink is almost $12.
Prices don’t change because people keep buying it. This goes beyond 5 guys.
My wife and I started getting our own ground beef and turkey burgers from the grocery store for a SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper price. And it's so much better after we add our ingredients.
I get 10 ground beef patties for $10 at a Kroger......... Meanwhile, it's $7+ for a single burger without fries or drink at many fast food chains.
Boycott these restuarants! Without customers, let's see who wins!
Exactly. I've been going to Costco for their $1.50 hot dog and soda instead. They've been at that price like forever and they lose money on them, but that's not my problem.
Exactly, but we both know that people generally don't stand together and will just give in and pay the higher prices
Without customers, these restaurants will shutter and move on. The city you live in will lose a lot of tax money and these abandoned buildings are very difficult to find a new tenant. It will become a place where homeless people hang out. People who can afford to own these restaurants are all millionaires to begin with so they'll still be able to retire comfortably while the city you live in will deteriorate. That's who wins.
I stopped eating there at least a year ago. Asking for a tip when they don’t even clean tables
Everybody asks for tips now. I try to tip when someone has actually performed an extra service for me, but has gotten way out of hand.
I paid over 9 dollars for a whopper today. No more for me. It's the same as the gas companies who are price gouging the consumers and blaming it on supply chain issues. Nonsense. Stop paying these billionaire profits!
When they raised the minimum wage to $15-$20 an hour, who did they think was going to pay for that, certainly not the business owners who were forced to increase wages and thus subsequently lower their profits. This gave the business owners an easy excuse to raise prices way above the amount they needed to and actually increase their profits even more.
The problem was they wanted extreme profit margins before so now that they genuinely have to raise the prices to keep up with cost it starts to look absurd
JUST AN0THER SAD ASPECT 0F BIDENS AMERICA
They still have extreme profit margins. They just want to pay workers the bare minimum while corporate gets top dollar to continue paying for their vacation homes.
I'm surprised people pay those prices for fast food.

$5.19 for a little fry is absolute total insanity SMFH

Nope. It's worth it. You've never eaten there, have you?
A little fry is actually a big bag of fries. Clearly you haven’t eaten there.😒
That “little fry” is like 2 pounds of fry’s
A "small" fry at 5 Guys has more fries than a large at most other places. Their jalapenos are fresh, not canned; I get two small containers of freshly sliced jalapenos on the side every time. Burgers have fresh or grilled onions. So many choices. Peanuts while you wait.
