    The RX100 is not meant to replace a DSLR physically. It's a pocket camera that meant to slip easily in a pocket of a jeans or pants. That's why even at mark 7 the body remains smooth. I use a solid wrist strap from Peak Design, so no worry of slipping or dropping. But the real deal breaker is in the software. It's called the mini A9. There are so many features that can be assigned to the function button for quck access. Even the hardware buttons can be re-assigned. Pro photographers will love this. Beginners won't appreciate the power behnd it.❤ The face and eye recognition for human and animal is really advance. The burst mode at 90 fps is impressive. The new processor is super fast compared to the earlier versions. It's a beast in a pocket.

    The rattling in the Canon is from the internal image stabilization system. This is quite normal.

    The rattle at 22.16 is just the outer leaf lens protector moving, the camera is sound. I have been shooting the Canon for a few years now, and to address some of the comments on focus. Yep I have had a few out of focus, it's a fact, the sony system wil always be better, but the Canpn feels more like a real camera, and just shoots. I have a neck strap and a quick release cover, and it's brilliiant for what it's designed to do, take a shot when you don't want to lug a DSLR. The control of the shot is where the strength is, alng with the brighter lens. I would replace with the same if I lost the G5X. The review is spot on.

    Loved your non techie review / comparison of the cameras. You did it just like most of us would have done it. Very easy to understand with your 'this thing' - 'that thing' analogies. I mean it. The comparison was on practical aspects. There are a lot of tech videos on these two cameras online; but your video shows the most basic differences. Thanks a lot. Very good work.

    I recently went for the Canon. The main reason for me was the grip! I’m a street photographer and shoot one handed. I read how slippery the Sony range are. That was the deal breaker. Granted, the Sony is a far superior camera, technically, better phase detection focus, more range. A small negative issue for me was the focal length display. In auto mode, you can use step zoom, 24, 28. 35mm etc. But as soon as you come out of that mode to say, program, you lose that display and it reverts to cm. I have a Panasonic FZ1000, and you get an exact display of focal length every mm step. I wanted to replicate the new Ricoh GRIII X 40mm lens. But it appears the Canon won’t let me do that. Nice review, thank you.

    • @shaolin95
      @shaolin95 2 года назад +1

      You could add the grip and have a far better camera than the Canon

    • @kicyiu
      @kicyiu Год назад

      You can do that with the Sony RX100 VII through memory recall. You can just save your configuration and your focal length and that way when you wake up the camera in me memory recall mode the lens automatically go to 40mm

  • @kicyiu
    @kicyiu Год назад +1

    I just read dpreview comparison between these cameras and they make the Canon looks like a cheap copy of the Sony. Even when the canon has a faster lens. Yeah it’s better in low light conditions but the bad autofocus just make the camera not as good as it could be

      Hahaha ha a true blind butthurt fanboy. The Sony destroys the Canon in colors, detai, much better lens, much better 4k video and HUGELY better autofocus. Canon should be ashamed of bringing out a camera with such horrible AF

      @@shaolin95 im not a fanboy, im just out looking for which camera to buy.
      But saying sony got a much better lens is just simply bs.
      1.8 Vs 2.8 at the widest, Canon is without a doubt the clear winner, also colours are far better on Canon.
      sony AF is much much better, which indeed is important, and also imo more important than colours, colours you can allways fix in post, out of focus you cant fix.

    • @Festvangelist
      @Festvangelist 3 года назад +1

      @@TheBronzorN if the picture is out of focus or takes too long to focus nothing else matters. The Sony lens is only about 1 stop different, my gosh learn use how to work your aperture, shutter speeds and iso. Today’s sensors at iso 800 or less are remarkable. Your “better” lens is based on how fast the lens is vs. the image which is more about the glass. I like the Zeiss. If you want a smaller lens length buy the rx100 Mark lV just as fast as the Canon lens with superior video and focus.

    RX100VII has a bad lens and it's much more expensive, so winner is clearly canon for me. Don't take me wrong, 2.8-4.5 is still good, but previous generations had 1.8-2.8 (same as this canon) and it's only 1" sensor so you really need the best possible brightness of lens, sony lens look like massive downgrade compared to previous generations. If Sony, I would pick RX100 VA, that looks much better.

  • @shaolin95
    @shaolin95 5 лет назад +5

    Sony is about video taking????? You are so cluess! The sony shoots 20fps without blackout with amazing tracking and autofocus that Canon can only dream about and you say is more about video taking hahaha ha

    • @Festvangelist
      @Festvangelist 3 года назад +1

      The Sony auto focusing is in its own class and far superior to Canon. IMO if the shot or video is out of focus nothing else matters. The hand feel of the Sony is almost too small but it is extremely liberating to have a dynamic camera that small. The rx100 V is also a very solid camera with a fast lens albeit at the expense of a 24-70mm ( shorter tele) zoom.

    • @Pidalin

      I have a good camera since 2016 and I used machinegun mode maybe once or twice, it's not really important. Autofocus is probably better due to phase detection, but I am still using classic focus to point in middle of screen and even my 2016 Panasonic has good enough contrast autofocus, so I din't think it's that bad to have only contrast autofocus, it has even advantages, when you hit lens with phase focus, you can distune it, but contrast focus works always, it focus only by what sensor sees.

    • @shaolin95
      @shaolin95 2 года назад +1

      @@Pidalin Not really important to YOU...so what you use or not use means is the same for the rest of the planet? LOL Contrast AF is crap...just look at any comparison You can try to sugar coat it anyway you want but when you see the comparisons the Canon is always struggling. Lovely to have a video coming in and out of focus.
      Dont be a FANBOY! I shoot Canon R5 for my pro work but for small cameras the RX100 VII is FAR better than the Canon.

    • @Pidalin
      @Pidalin 2 года назад

      @@shaolin95 Ofcourse phase AF is better, but when you compare Panasonic contrast AF with canon AF in compact cameras (like G5X MII), then Panasonic is 100 times better. I had G5X II and I returned it because AF was worse than on my old 2010 Fuji compact camera. When I try my fathers fullframe canon DLSR, ofcourse it has better AF than my G80, but it's not that difference as some people say. I am not a fanboy, you are canon fanboy because you obviously don't have any experiences with Panasonic cameras and you just repeat bullshits from internet.
