The bulls seem to mistake it for being completely too literal...[now the devil follows me everywhere that I go/he could be dancing ?? Amongst one of you at my shows]
A lot of mainstream rap glamorizes gang banging in general so I think that's why they take it that way when it's not doing that it is a cautionary tale and maybe not an exactly true story but this person on a story if something that does happen every single day.

jonathan ogundeji What the hell are you talking about? He has said on more than one occasion that it IS a true story and that he knows the people who were involved in it. The only thing that’s not true is he was not actually one of the ones who were involved. But like I said, he knew them. You can look it up. I think he put himself into the story because it would have a bigger impact on listeners and it really drives the point home. By this being something that happened with people he really did know, he’s close enough to the situation to where he can get a pass to include himself in the story for the sake of sending a powerful message.

Brother i cant even express how much i owe tech and chinoxl my life fam... i lost my voice for a year and while i was doing photography for the music industry i had a chance to hangout with them backstage for awhile and they showed MADD love and motivated me to not believe doctors telling me i may never get it back. It was their advice that i followed and led to me getting a voice again.
Forever thankful for those two. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Song gives me the shivers everytime I listen. Reminds me of a kid I knew in college(high school to Americans) who was arrested for setting up a kid to arrange a meeting to sort out a petty drug debt and then stabbed him to death. I thought about stuff he used to say to me like if I want really money I should sell cocaine instead of weed which I was selling to support my own habit and talkin about how hed send his girl outside to do his sales for him. It's True the devil grows in the hearts of selfish and wicked. He was a conflicted kid now dancing with the devil on a cold cell block. Whenever I hear this song I see his face and think about him but cant remember his voice just certain sentences he said to me which was the devil showing himself in him but I never realised at the time but looking back it was obvious. I smoked a joint with him the same month he slayed an unarmed kid over £50. I wonder if he realises now the devil corrupted him.

Someone posted these words on another reaction video of the same song, which I watched before giving this one a play. After reading most of the comment thread here, I felt compelled to share this post from there.
Shout out to the original poster, whomever you are.
"This is not a song I would recommend for first time listeners of Immortal Technique, and I totally understand your reaction to it. Immortal Technique often talks about hardships of minorities, you are correct, but one of the reasons I like him is that he also points out the flaws in the communities he's living in.
The song is harsh, admittedly, but *the point of the song* is more of a critique of women's treatment in black and Hispanic communities, where you often have single mothers working hard to support their children.
The song is an allegory that essentially condemns the way men in those communities treat women and the status they have, even though many of them were raised by a single mother. This is why the song comes back around, with William's mother working long hours and also being the one who was raped.
The fact Immortal Technique puts himself there as well is because *he knows he is guilty of treating women terribly.*
Technique styles himself as a revolutionary, not just for changing the US government but *for essentially waking people up to how they should be treating each other better to form a stronger community.*
I would suggest the song *You Never Know,* also by Technique, as a good intro to his story telling style, as it also contains similar themes to this song in regards to women's place in the community he lives."
