    Lisa, thank you so much for highlighting my channel! That was so unexpected and generous of you! Also, as far as your autumn sewing plans, the vogue coat in the navy wool with the navy fleece for the collar would be amazing. I'm loving all your content. It's been a great year watching you!

    Hi, I loved your video, and your suggestion to watch another bloggers is great. I love to see all the videos about sewing, because all of you are inspiring me to start sewing again; I stopped sewing many years ago, because of the decease of my first husband, but when I started watching all the sewing videos I felt so motivated that I began to sew again, now I am sewing small projects, but I expect to make bigger things in the future. By the way, all your fabrics are awesome and the patterns you are going to use are beautiful. Keep doing all the beautiful things you do, and thanks for sharing.

    I'm already a Voice of a Creative subscriber but I did check out TomKat Stitchery's fall lookbook and subscribed - always glad to find a RUclipsr in the US (or Canada) as their fabric sources are more convenient for me to buy from than the UK. I also subscribed to Button and Pip - I love her enthusiasm. Thanks Lisa for promoting these channels...so nice of you to do that!

    Hi Lisa. You are such a ray of sunshine. I really enjoy your enthusiasm; it is wonderful. So excited for you to get into coat/jacket/blazer construction; you will love the process and end results! My vote is for the blue/navy wool in the V8841 as it is a straight forward sew with "wow" factor that can be styled in so many ways. Love the shoulder to hem....clean lines and the profile is classic. Your pick for an over collar is perfect. I have two versions; light gray wool/silk herringbone for spring/fall and navy wool for fall/winter and so versatile. Love both. Made the size 8 with a very slight pattern alteration at the shoulders and a little modification to the sleeve cap. My one suggestion is to buy a clapper and good pressing cloth (or silicone sheet) if you don't already have them. Pressing, steam and clapper give that professional finish especially on coats/jackets, etc. (Ask me how I know :>) Will be looking forward to seeing your fall and winter creations.
    Cheers and happy sewing. JoAn

      @Lisamakes  6 лет назад

      Nard Ackinon Thanks for all the advice! I do need to get a clapper- and I have enough purple fabric leftover from last year to do a bit of a muslin and figure out the right size before I cut into that beautiful wool!

    I like all of your fall plans. Getting ready to work out a plan. I pulled out fabrics the other day. My sewing machine broke while I was visiting my son’s family and I had a whole suitcase of fabric to sew up my summer plan and baby clothes: Since I had to wait to get back home a month later I didn’t get any of them made. Summer fabrics will wait till next spring and now on to fall. Thanks for the new list of bloggers. I watched Hide and Silk grade up a pattern which was very helpful and I subscribed! I also had just subscribed to Voice of a Creatve 2 days ago. Looking forward to checking the others out.

    I love the bold plaid for the mini skirt! The colors are great fall/winter colors, and you will be able to pair it with many wardrobe staples. I agree that black pants is the best use for that beautiful crepe. No opinion on the coats. I’m in south Louisiana, US and today it was 95 degrees. Winter coats last for years and years. Can’t wait to see your makes!

    Lovely overview - thank you! Pardon me if you've already done this, but I'd love to see a video on how you decide what quantities of fabric to buy when you don't have a project in mind. Your stash is wonderful. I don't have much of a stash other than sale remnants I couldn't pass up - because I don't buy unless I know how much I'll need. I'd love to hear your thoughts and whether you have any guidelines for amounts. Thanks again!

    Hi Lisa, you have selected great key pieces for fall. Lots of wonderful patterns and fabric choices. I think the faux animal print mini skirt would actually be a versatile make. Enjoyed Hide and Silk's fabric haul, TomKat Stitchery's pattern review, and Keper and Twill's toile fitting info as well as the enthusiasm for sewing of all of the other vloggers. Thanks for sharing.

    Hey Lisa, love the coat patterns you showed! And as far as trousers go, I think you should go for the bold ones (was it the second one?) Also I really liked voice of a creatives video on her off pattern collection!

    COATS! My family lived in Cooperstown, NY for three years - our good friend Joe referred to NY state as “The Land of Many Coats!”. After my first winter I learned that there would be some people who never saw me in anything but a coat. I needed many coats! We live in Richmond, VA now where the weather is quite different - hurricanes, tornados and high humidity. There are some winters where I never put a coat on (fleece jackets only). I think you are In “The Land of Many Coats”!

    Hi Lisa, I have to tell you something funny. I just watched 101 Dalmations with my grandchildren last week. The one with Glenn Close playing Cruella De Vil. As soon as you put up the black and white animal print, I immediately thought about Cruella loving Anita's dalmation with her fur obsession. Having said all that, I really think that the skirt in that print would be fun and you could certainly pull it off. I haven't seen anything on you that hasn't looked good. It would really be kitchy, no pun intended. Ok, now that I have exhausted you with my sense of humor, I really wanted to say that I really enjoy watching your vlog. Have a great day.

    This month's Burda Style (October) has lots of fab coat patterns. There's a lovely jacket in there that I love and want to make. That blue wool is just gorgeous and that fleece is a fab match. I prefer the two vogue patterns especially the 8841 but the shorter 8862 might give you more wear. I know your weather is much colder but I find I grab a 3/4 coat rather than the full length ones. That herringbone is so luscious! I think you should go wild with the skirt - the blue would definitely be better for the blazer! That mustard print is so pretty but I do love that red and it would look stunning with black drapey trousers! I haven't knitted for a while but really fancy starting a knitting project...so many things to make and not enough time!
    Edit I subscribed to lots of the channels and commented...but I forget which ones I commented on haha! It's age!! Ok checked - and it's Keper and Twill and Sewing for the Soul. There will be others but we're in the middle of packing up to head home after our vacation!
    Many thanks for doing the heads up to vloggers...I discovered some great ones in this batch xx

    I have made the McCalls hooded coat in grey plaid fleece. I get a ton of compliments on the coat. The peplem is flattering. But be aware that the hood is huge and doesn't stay up. I am going to remake it in wool. but a hoodless version.
