you really do make some beautiful clothes. I'm a sewer, but not to the extent I would like to be. You have really inspired me to start making my own clothes again. I'm soooooo excited. thank you xx
Gday Lisa. Lovely video. Hope you are well? Your dress is gorgeous, really flattering on you. The 80s style top you made with all those little features are great, really liking the cross over straps. Thank u for sharing. xx
I love that vintage pattern top you made! It’s gorgeous! Love how you put your striped fabric together on the top you’re wearing. I remember seeing it on Instagram when you were planning it out. What great plans as well!
Lovely makes Lisa ☺️ it’s amazing what a little elastic can do at a waistline isn’t it ☺️ I look forward to the next interview Vlog as really enjoyed the last one xx
Ahh this is so fun! I missed hearing someone talk about sewing- I got so excited when you mentioned facing haha - the armhole one is gorgeous btw! I think the white linen will be stunning!
I have a vLog uploaded which is scheduled to go live on Wednesday which has a walk thru of the four pattern based magazines including Burda Style June issue. If you like I can reschedule it to go live today?
Hi Lisa, must have missed that last video so will give it a visit 👍. I love your first top....I adore your styling as it's always so classic but fairly relaxed and casual at the same time which I love too 💞. It reminds me of a store that we have in the uk called White Company which has very classic simple styling in lovely linens, cotton's and Jerseys that are in very muted colours, usually whites, blacks and pin stripes. They are lovely but usually very expensive but I get lots of inspiration from looking at their clothes. I have been known to buy but only in the sales 😉. Your jersey dress is beautiful too and I love the deep back.....your rule about only having one revealing thing to a garment is spot on 👍. Great plans for your family Lisa and looking forward to seeing your makes and planned videos 😀😘
Oh a French collection sounds great!:) I haven't watched your last interview video but I'll be sure to check it out soon. I always enjoy flip-through of Pattern magazines:)
Thanks for showing all the details on your Issey Miyake top! You really did a fantastic job with that pattern! I vote for the Burda crossover shorts - I think that's a more interesting pattern. But of course it really depends more on the needs of your wardrobe. Also you mentioned something about adding a tie to your Vogue dress? I don't think it needs it... it might look too fussy since you already have a tie around the neck. Looking forward to seeing all your wedding makes.
Hi Lisa, Again a wonderful vlog. For the linen vest, iron the interfacing again according to their application instructions. Then don’t touch it or move it until it has completely cooled. You probably didn’t have the iron either hot enough or on long enough. Hopefully that will correct the problem. According to Sandra Betzina, before prewashing linen, iron the fabric to set the finish. Then wash the fabric. This should help minimize the wrinkles. It will still wrinkle because it is after all linen but hopefully not as much. Hope you are feeling better. Can’t wait to see the complete linen outfit on you. The vest looks gorgeous.
Natalia Ryng thanks for the info! I just bought 5 yards of linen😀, I've never sewed on that fabric before. It came in the mail and I haven't opened it yet. Have to wait until the 1 year old grandbaby goes home tonight.😉
I'm looking forward to your French themed capsule! I think that with the over-sized shorts creasing won't be too much of a problem, besides, I love linen and all of its creased glory!
Hi Lisa ,Issy Miyakee pattern blouse, I love it, I try to purchase this vintage pattern on ebay, just 106 $. :).., your sewing full of style, my style also, I like your different choice of pattern, this jersey dress so cute ! always a great pleasure, thank you !! bonne semaine, bizz, Sylvie
I love how you just went with both front pieces and add the 'detailed' keyhole on the vogue dress :) You are flexible on your makes, it's inspiring! The roller dress will be soo cute!! Do your kids like when you sew some clothes for them ? :)
Thank you! I think flexibility is better than perfectionism- at least it works better for me! They girls do like it when I sew for them- as long as they still can shop for clothes sometimes, too. ;)
As an aside I just did a vlog comparing the four pattern focussed magazines (La Maison Victor, Ottobre, My Image and Burda Style) plus one of the UK sewing mags with a flip through. I've included a downloadable pdf summary comparing pattern instructions, sizing, mix of patterns, pricing, frequency etc. The editions I looked at included the two you showed. It's scheduled for next Wed (20th).
I have no question for your next interview but I have a suggestion for an interview.... I spent a week in the Niagara Hamilton region first week of June and did a walk about Niagara-on-the-lake (sorta a must Everytime I can get here) and found an interesting boutique/shop. Don't know the name but it's on Queen been Gate and King. On the south side. The owner wasn't in that day so I couldn't pick her brain unfortunately. She makes most of the stock herself either at home or in the store. There's a sewing machine and cutting table in the middle of the small store. It seemed like an amazing business. I would LOVE to hear her story. You need a road trip surely...to NOTL too see the beautiful floral landscaping anyway. We were there on a Monday... So don't go that day of the week. I just wish I knew the name.
Love your makes! Both are so classy! I plan to make those same culottes and just ordered the fabric for it. They would look beautiful with that top....so elegant but I do understand the creasing concerns...
If you go to the Marché Restaurant at Front and Yonge, there is a Hudson Newsstand right next to it, and it has lots of sewing mags, including Burda and La Maison Victor.
Thank Lisa. I live in Brampton and don't go downtown too often but as luck would have it a family friend as able to pick up both magazine for me yeah!!!!!!
Sorry you've been sick, but you clearly still made some beautiful outfits. That Vogue blouse is ... I'm not sure I even I have an adjective that expresses my feelings 😉, beyond beautiful! I'd like to see you make a plain bottom so the blouse is the show stopper! Are either of your girls into "twirling" type dresses? I'll try to send a picture of the ones I made. Anyway, have a great time at the wedding!
Aquilterknits you know, I think I initially printed it off at 90% by accident, so it fits me well. I do use a smaller seam allowance in the arms, so they aren’t so narrow.
Thanks, Victoria! If you go to the Marché Restaurant at Front and Yonge, there is a Hudson Newsstand right next to it, and it has lots of sewing mags, including Burda and La Maison Victor.
And Sew On Yay, even better that it's by Marche as we love the Rosti there...two birds with one stone! Looking forward to flipping through a real Burda, the tracing part will be a challenge. Thanks Lisa I appreciate all the work that goes into your videos and always answering my questions. Xx

I’m glad! I learned everything by doing- just go for it, and you’ll do great!
I get really inspired to be creative when I watch your videos. Thanks, Lisa!
Thanks, Theresa! That’s a great compliment. 😘
I love your fabric for Lily!!
Isn’t it lovely??
You always make the prettiest clothing! That vintage top looks AWESOME on you!
Thanks, Myra! Xox
You always make beautiful things! I love the vintage shirt!
Thank you! The pattern is so cool.
The jersey dress looks great.
Gday Lisa. Lovely video. Hope you are well? Your dress is gorgeous, really flattering on you. The 80s style top you made with all those little features are great, really liking the cross over straps. Thank u for sharing. xx
Thanks, Anna! 😘
Love the vogue dress and how brave you are making all these hacks!
Thanks! I think using less expensive fabric gives me more courage. ;)
Yes, i would like to see the french capsule.
Nice sewing plans, that crossed over little skirt would be perfect for your linen...
Lovely plans and gorgeous makes as always. X
Thanks, Gill!
I love that vintage pattern top you made! It’s gorgeous! Love how you put your striped fabric together on the top you’re wearing. I remember seeing it on Instagram when you were planning it out. What great plans as well!
It was a really fun pattern to make- vintage is so neat!
Lovely makes Lisa ☺️ it’s amazing what a little elastic can do at a waistline isn’t it ☺️ I look forward to the next interview Vlog as really enjoyed the last one xx
It really does help. ;) I’m doing the interview on Thursday- should be fun!
Ahh this is so fun! I missed hearing someone talk about sewing- I got so excited when you mentioned facing haha - the armhole one is gorgeous btw! I think the white linen will be stunning!
Kait Bos Thanks! It’s definitely on the list!
Love all you makes. I would love to see a walk thru of the Burda magazine.

Oh a French collection sounds great!:) I haven't watched your last interview video but I'll be sure to check it out soon. I always enjoy flip-through of Pattern magazines:)
Okay! I can do that. I have a few right now. ;)
Lovely makes, Lisa! Great plans-looking forward to seeing them. Looking forward to your upcoming interviews!
Hi Lisa, make a pair of bermuda shorts to go with your Vogue top and it will look elegant and classic
Great idea. I still haven’t made anything with the leftover fabric yet.
Thanks for showing all the details on your Issey Miyake top! You really did a fantastic job with that pattern! I vote for the Burda crossover shorts - I think that's a more interesting pattern. That’s a good point- two ties is a bit much. I think the elastic at the waist does the same job. Thank you!

Very cool! I have some that I bought that I will do that for.

Thanks for the videos. I love the Miyake pattern: I may have to hunt it down myself. :)

Boulevard Du Fil Merci, Sylvie! Yes, I know, that pattern on resale is very $$$!! I feel very lucky to have had the chance to make it. :)
I love how you just went with both front pieces and add the 'detailed' keyhole on the vogue dress :) You are flexible on your makes, it's inspiring! The roller dress will be soo cute!! Do your kids like when you sew some clothes for them ? :)

I bought Burda Style at a news store at St. Clair West and Yonge Street @ Yonge Street, right at the corner.
As an aside I just did a vlog comparing the four pattern focussed magazines (La Maison Victor, Ottobre, My Image and Burda Style) plus one of the UK sewing mags with a flip through. Changed the schedule so it will be live this evening xx
Hi Lisa. I love all your info! I would like to make your jean skirt but cannot find the sew along you mentioned. Can you supply me a link?
Sure! ruclips.net/video/A_stb2tZTYc/видео.html
I just made it! Super happy with it. Thank you for the link.
Teda Heerema great!!!

How cool! I will try to figure out who it is. Thanks for the tip. ;)
I vote for shorts if you go for it!
Love your makes! Both are so classy! I plan to make those same culottes and just ordered the fabric for it. They would look beautiful with that top....so elegant but I do understand the creasing concerns...
Kathie Gadd oo, I love culottes- I definitely will make another pair before the summer is out!
Great makes 👗 and the matching shorts, very stylish. Lucky family, are you making anything for the hubbie??
Not yet! I promised to make him a shirt in the fall. I find menswear intimidating- but I guess it’s like anything. You just have to dig in!
Hi Lisa, your makes are always so beautiful. I especially love the Vogue dress. Please let us know where in Toronto we can pick up the Burda magazine.
If you go to the Marché Restaurant at Front and Yonge, there is a Hudson Newsstand right next to it, and it has lots of sewing mags, including Burda and La Maison Victor.

Thank you! I’m glad you loved the top. :) I’m not sure I have enough fabric for a twirly dress!
Yes, the French capsule sounds great! The basic Mandyboat Tee should be a nice make with that fabric. Do you do much for modifications for It?
Aquilterknits you know, I think I initially printed it off at 90% by accident, so it fits me well. I do use a smaller seam allowance in the arms, so they aren’t so narrow.
I'm making my daughter a cute pair of shorts and am intrigued with the cute little elastic you got from Fabric Land. Is that a local store?
Fabricland is the Canadian version of Joann in the US. A big chain that has been around forever. Unfortunately, they don’t sell on line, though.
Great video
Hey Lisa I am heading into Toronto in a week, where can I pick up a Burda magazine...thanks as always I'm inspired by your makes xx Victoria

I just searched for the Vogue 1693 pattern. It is selling on Etsy for €103 😳
I know, isn’t that crazy? As I borrowed the pattern, I had no idea until later how valuable it is right now.
