My mom has used, with great success, a product called Restoration. It's similar in texture to OxyClean, and comes in tubs. We have my grandfather's old Christening gown that all of the kids since have used, but my sister's baby had a blowout while wearing it. The Restoration cleaned it up very well, thankfully! Oh, and this year I'm looking forward to learning how to sew knits properly. It is just the bane of my sewing hobby, but most of what I enjoy wearing!
I didnt realize you had a channel! How exciting :) I'm pregnant right now (due in 1.5 months!) And I cannot wait to sew wovens again. So many beautiful fabrics in my stash I cant wait to use. I have the palisade pants on my list too :) Enjoy Mexico!
I am making the "Cocoa" dress as a sew along in February with my sister in Newfoundland. We did a sew along of the "Toaster Sweater" in January. Thanks for the inspiration
Tablecloths were made to be washed, embroidered or not. All the hand embroidered table linen and pillowcases handed down to me by my mother and grandmother have been washed hundreds of times and still look fine. Don't use a detergent with bleach in it but a non bio detergent should be fine, just don't tumble dry, old linen really doesn't like that.
To wash the tablecloth caftan, I would put it in a laundry bag and use a gentle detergent and the hand wash cycle. You want to protect the embroidery from friction and fading.
Hi Lisa, some great ideas. Love the tablecloth into a kaftan idea! I cross stitched for so many years, love that! I don't think that you need to be overly cautious with the material, just like you got me in stitches said. You may want to test a small area first just to be safe. I like that you are choosing both sewing and knitting, two of my jams too! I just like to make so I would have to think about favs. I just received in the mail today a beautiful teal boiled wool knit. I just bought it because I love that stuff, but when it came, I was like...what am I going to make, lol Talk about a total fabric obsession purchase, lol Enjoy the channel and all the makes. Happy weekend.
I plan to make a few lightweight summer dresses; but my big plans are to learn to sew with knits. So I'll make either the Sewaholic Renfrew or the Toaster Sweater - maybe both.
I like belt you added to your toaster dress. I actually rewound (is that what it’s called on RUclips haha) to check where you said you had picked yours up because I’ve been looking for a belt like that. Thank you 😊 I’m excited to make some trousers this year. I tried the flint shorts and love the fit so of course I need to try the trousers next and tackle making my first pair of pants. And maybe even try the new option of the bib because it’s fun. Sewyyc in Calgary does pdf printing of patterns now too. I hope to try it soon.
I am excited about making my granddaughter a grad dress. I made her a dress last summer and she loved it. She asked if I would do this for her. She is a girl that doesn't like dresses and it makes me feel good to know that she likes what I made enought to ask for a special dress like this.
I like your table cloth caftan idea. I have several patterns from several American indiy companies. Love Notions, patterns for Pirates, 5 out of 4, and DIBY. Have made some great Hauls from Girl Charlie and SR Harris Fabrics in MN from their remnant bin. Can’t wait to get started.
Such an inspiring list of patterns y’all are planning to sew this year! This year I’m excited to try outerwear and want to tackle a tailored wool coat. I’ll probably start with one of my vintage patterns or draft my own. Somewhere along the line I’d also like to try the Harriet Bra pattern.
I made the heron top in a stiffly woven silk, and I love it. The rest of the book has so many classic shapes. I'm loving working my way through the book.
That fabric is beautiful! I am excited to make a Kelly anorak this year and more separates. I know that's vague but it's soooooooo many pieces lol. Three pairs of pants and 4-5 shirts already planned.
I’m excited to sew all the things! Oh gosh, where to begin? Burnside bibs are on my short list, Vogue dress for wedding season, that pinnacle top that looks so amazing and if I get gutsy, the Persephone pants ☺️
Can't wait to see what you projects come out like, your garments are always so crisp and styled so nicely! The most exciting thing I am making in 2019 is my Mother-of-the-Bride dress, I've pared it down to about 10 different patterns and 6 different fabrics, still waiting to hear what colour the wedding theme is before I cut anything! I'm off to check the Matchpoint Fabric's website...!
I got the Tilly and the Buttons Love at First Stitch book for a Christmas gift. I’m excited to start at the beginning and make all the projects in the book from cover to cover.
I am looking forward to making a white linen top, an a line linen dress and maybe a white linen skirt or pair of capris for my spring capsule wardrobe.
I also have the pinnacle top on my next to make list! I’m planning on using some of the patterns I already own this year, rather than being tempted my new shiny things! I’m expecting my second baby in April so I’m aiming to make some button down shirts which should hopefully come in handy for nursing. First up is a kalle tunic.
I haven’t decided which patterns I’ll be making yet. I’m trying to be more thoughtful about my sewing and make things I’ll really wear. Currently, I’m developing a wardrobe plan. I’ve been scouring websites (including Matchpoint, which I hadn’t looked at before) in hopes of finding a print I really love. I’ll use the colors from this unknown print to create my color palette. That’s the plan anyhow. 🙂
I am definitely wanting to work on pants more this year. So many good pants patterns, including the MN Dawn jeans and the new Philippa Pants that are coming!
Hi Lisa, I am so excited about your sewing adventure for 2019.. I told you about my current project with knitting which is Carrie Bostick Hige Branches and Bud sweater. I am about 25% complete on this project. I am looking forward to making a blouse from Collette called Violet with a cute cotton lawn that has birds and flowers. I would love to have that beautiful fabric to create a dress from Sew Over It patterns. I am really planning my wardrobe to fit in with yarn and fabric that I have purchased over time. I am glad that you are back and cannot wait to hear all the amazing things in the near future.
I am really looking forward to making the Appleton dress pattern. I retried last year with more time to sew, so my list of patterns to makes is getting longer and longer!🤗
Im excited to sew some of my summer cruise outfits. It's quite a big endeavour, that's why I'm starting it now. Wish me luck! BTW, I like your Toaster dress.
The weather has been the same in Montreal! Except for this week we are freezing -32 degrees 🥶🥶 great patterns and great giveaways 😊😊🎉 oh and i think the sky jumpsuit is from seamwork not papercut!😊
I’m looking forward to making the Lucerne trench this year! I purchased the material last year through Mood Fabrics (I think? Now I cannot remember!) and ordered the A0 print that same week but hesitated to cut it until I had other projects finished! I love your sweater dress! It looks so cozy!
To wash hand embroidered table cloths. Put the table cloth into a white pillowcase Pin the pillow case shut. Wash on delicate with one cup of white vinegar
Hi Lisa! Love that tablecloth for the cute top - great idea! Am I crazy?!! because I would throw it in the wash. Lol! Excited to see all your makes for 2019! X M
I really want to make a Tabor top (or two, or three- so many variations...), but that lovely twill says Palisade pants to me. By the time I've toiled the pattern, a blush pink version just might be in season, who knows 😇
I have so many plans for this year, it's hard to pick the most exciting... I think I'll just go with what I'm currently working on. I'm making a bomber jacket (of dreams!) (M7100) in a handwoven rainbow fabric and it's going to be wild! Love your channel and thank you for hosting the giveaway!
I'm itching to make a 90's dress -- s7274, shorts and tops Since retiring my style of clothing has changed to loose, comfortable so I'll be busy using up some of my stockpile of fabric. Loved your dress and tablecloth.
Your dress is beautiful! This year I would like to make all new clothes. Not sure about jeans. Tried tidying up, nothing I own sparked joy. Since I haven’t worked in about 9 years. So done with sweatpants! I need all new then donate what I have.
Hi Lisa, love your channel. I am exploring pant making this year. I made the lander pants by true bias and also a yoga pant pattern by Silhouette patterns. Love them both. My ultimate goal is to make my own jeans . Beautiful vintage table cloth and look forward to seeing the completed top.

I'm planning on makeing some Morgan boyfriend jeans - 2019 is going to be my year to get trousers fitting right. I realise that I'm more of a separates person rather than a dress wearer 😁. Great plans Lisa look forward to seeing them 👍
The tablecloth is lovely. Happy new year. I’m looking forward to sewing the Toaster sweater (very late to the party), Lander pants and Lark knit tee. Thanks for the giveaway.
I'm super duper excited to make the Saler jacket from Pauline Alice--it will be a challenge but I'm up for it. Also the Kelly anorak...I guess it'll be an outerwear year!
I’m excited to make the Wiksten kimono! And thanks for the good info on printing in Toronto. The printer I went to wanted sixty bucks to print one pattern, outrageous eh?
My 2019 sewing plans include Ollie bomber jacket (1 for me 1 for kiddo), tackle a swim suit (find pattern), a pair of jeans, and find a new pullover top pattern (I have a raglan pattern I love, but need to branch out). Oh and I plan (hope) to finish all my Christmas sewing by 1st week of Dec.
just realized I use a gmail acct for you tube but a different one for everything else - I haven't used gmail in years... Will it affect the giveaway entry that it's 2 different emails?
oh that twill looks sooo dreamy! my most wanted pattern is the sade top from named....after looking at you and michelle's picks i think the papercut dress and seamwork jumpsuit are going to make it on the list!...thx for giveaway and another lead on printers...i just got a coat pattern priced at 27$...not incl shipping. tfs:)

You’ve got great plans for 2019! I would love to finally sew the gorgeous Vogue 9076, SOI Heidi dress and hopefully the other 5 projects that have been cut since June 😁 (a vintage dress, SOI Penny, Kalle shirt and others I can’t even remember anymore). Thank you and Michelle for the giveaway!! Oh that twill would actually be perfect for the Vogue dress 😍
Hi I just found your channel. I enjoyed your video. Loved the Pinnacle top you mentioned. I will be sewing Very Easy Vogue V9055 as one of my makes in 2019.
I think your tablecloth will look ver BOHO which I love. There is a product for washing quilts that would work for that but I can’t remember what it’s called. Also love your dress... I’m curious how tall you are. They (whomever they are) say short people should t wear long skirts or dress as it will make us look shorter & wider and you look really cute, so you must be taller. I think I would make some summer shorts from the twill
I've been sticking to my comfort zone of sweatshirty type tops and Ogden camis for the warmer seasons but now I need some new bottoms to go with them. So 2019 will be the year of pant/shorts making for me. Fitting will be a big challenge but I know I'll feel good if I can achieve at least one well fitting pant pattern. Thank you Lisa and Michelle for the giveaway...I'd love to win that fabric....I love fabric....
I LOVE Matchpoint fabric! I bought some silk noil remnants from Michelle in December and they were so beautiful. The pattern I'm really excited to make this year is the Sew Over It Eve dress - I've got a big gala coming up in July for work so I want to rock some #memade xx
I am so excited to sew another pair of Lander pants in the beautiful linen viscose noil from Blackbird fabrics. I am also going to sew the Nikki cardigan from Athina Kakou
Hi - I enjoy your videos and reviews. I think you mean 2019, right? (You said 2018 about 3 times, but hey, I do the same thing). I have several patterns in the que as well, including a Papercut Jumpsuit, but I really like the Sierra Jumpsuit. I picked out a fabric at a fabric reuse store here in Ithaca, NY. And BTW, I think your tablecloth would do fine on a gentle delicate cycle and hung dry. Thank you!
I'm looking forward to making myself some leggings. I've done it before but never with proper alterations to get a good fit. Figuring that out is a goal of mine!
I'm looking forward to making patterns for my grandson, it will be the first project for him, and making under clothes for myself. For my grandson, the pattern is McCall's 5639, year 1977, mine is Simplicity 8510, Simplicity 8228.
Bras! My bra making kit comes tomorrow and I am so excited to make it! I also think I'm going to wing an "apron dress" pattern just from my imagination. Because... why not??? :)
I'm really excited to sew the Saraste dress from the new Named Breaking the Pattern :) I've already subscribed to the newsletter so I hope that's ok ;)

Trish Green thank you! And welcome. Is this your first baby?
First visit ! The table cloth reminds me of projects in 70s when we used lace table cloths to make dresses
Welcome!
I have heard so much about the toaster sweater, that I think I'll give that a try. That blush fabric is an absolute gorgeous color!!
You won’t regret it! It’s a great pattern.
I am making the "Cocoa" dress as a sew along in February with my sister in Newfoundland. We did a sew along of the "Toaster Sweater" in January. Thanks for the inspiration
Joaniem1 Maloney How lovely that you’re doing a sew along with your sister! I love that. 💗

I plan to make a few lightweight summer dresses; but my big plans are to learn to sew with knits. So I'll make either the Sewaholic Renfrew or the Toaster Sweater - maybe both.

I think you could put the tablecloth in the washer, after all for practical reasons tablecloths get spills and need washing.
Good point! I guess I was worried about the hand stitches.

Hey! I’m almost 5’8”.
I'm excited about sewing a Kelly anorak this year, and jeans!
I'm excited to tackle the Clare Coat by Closet Case Patterns!
I LOVE Matchpoint fabric! I bought some silk noil remnants from Michelle in December and they were so beautiful. The pattern I'm really excited to make this year is the Sew Over It Eve dress - I've got a big gala coming up in July for work so I want to rock some #memade xx
Yes! That’s a great pattern for a gala! I have that pattern, but haven’t made it yet.
I am so excited to sew another pair of Lander pants in the beautiful linen viscose noil from Blackbird fabrics. I am also going to sew the Nikki cardigan from Athina Kakou
Wonderful plans- I do love anything from Blackbird!
I just hopped over to Matchpoint fabrics, thank you so much for again highlighting a Canadian Company I am happy to support!@@Lisamakes
I'm looking forward to Wiksten Haori and the Friday Pattern Co Hughes dress. Thanks for doing this giveaway!
Thank you!
I do! 😂 2019. So silly of me!
I am thrilled to start sewing bras!!!
I can’t wait to see those makes!
So glad to find you...I live close to Ottawa ya! Ps I have a few seamwork patternon my list
Cool! We lived in Ottawa for a few years. :)
I'm looking forward to making myself some leggings. I've done it before but never with proper alterations to get a good fit. Figuring that out is a goal of mine!

Oh! Now I’m really excited to try the Tabor top :)
This year I am really excited to sew a bomber jacket and jumpsuit.
I am excited to sew S7768 for my daughter. It is a simple top
I’m keen on making the Persephone pants and perfecting their fit for me so I can make many more!
I’m looking forward to making a Chanel jacket!
Love the Sky blue jumpsuit,
I am planning on making a Charlie caftan dress and the Kalle shirt from Closet Case and maybe a Pussy bow blouse from Sew Over It.
I'm looking forward to making patterns for my grandson, it will be the first project for him, and making under clothes for myself. For my grandson, the pattern is McCall's 5639, year 1977, mine is Simplicity 8510, Simplicity 8228.
I have the Toaster Sweater on my list too!
Bras! My bra making kit comes tomorrow and I am so excited to make it! I also think I'm going to wing an "apron dress" pattern just from my imagination. Because... why not??? :)
Yes! Have a look on the Purl Soho website- they have a free apron pattern you could adapt. 😉
I'm really excited to sew the Saraste dress from the new Named Breaking the Pattern :) I've already subscribed to the newsletter so I hope that's ok ;)
Absolutely! I definitely looking forward to seeing from that book, too.
