Oil grill grates and place steak over the hot side. Sear 4 min flip and sear another 4 min on the other side of the steak. Move to the cool side of the grill and temp. You should be around 85 degrees. Let the steak conituine cooking until it reaches an internal temp of 122-124 Degrees for Med Rare. I did it exactly as you said. That butter sauce - oh wow. Our company said they had never had such a melt in your mouth steak. Thanks guys.
Thanks for watching. Glad everything turned out great!
My wife bought me one for Father's Day. Now gonna cook it today. Gonna do what you said. Thx!
Thanks for watching. This method works good for us but there are many different methods. Find out what works for you and stick with it. Let us know how it turns out.
Thank you for this video.
Those tomahawk steaks cost an arm and a leg, so one must know how to prepare them properly.
Wonderful video guys! Grilled a lot of rib eyes in my life on a gas grill...BUT... I had never grilled a tomahawk rib eye before. Wife picked one of these up and I didn't want to foul up such a chunk of lovely beef. Thanks to your guide [really loved the butter and herbs combo] as it helped me have the confidence to "go big or go home" with this steak. Happy 2022 to you and yours!
Awesome! Glad it turned out great. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated 🙏
Love their energy...dope...
Never cooked a tomahawk steak and wanted to do it on the grill. Followed the instructions in your video….came out perfect! Thanks!!
Thank you for taking the time to watch. Always good to hear when our tips help someone out.
what numbers should the burners be on when you finish cooking it on the indirect side?
Sorry just saw this comment. We have the burners on high on the opposite side of where the meat is. Temp of the grill is around 400F degrees. Temp of the steak when done will be 120 to 125 degrees F for Med rare. Hope this helps.
That looks so good! I’m trying this exact process tonight!
Let us know how it turns out as this method has worked good for us. Thanks for watching.
Did my 37 ounce this evening. It was FANTASTIC!

@@bluffcitygrub it was great !! Pulled them off when they was 122 n 124 internally, wrapped it n let it sit for 10 mins then we devoured them. First time grilling a steak this large. Great tips/instructions 👍

You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video, guys! I've been a bit intimidated by this cut. If I mess it up, it's an expensive mess up, lol, but you guys have set my mind at ease with this video. I'm going to try your way of cooking it. Thanks!
Love it. We just have fun while we cook! Let us know how it turns out!!
It turned out amazing, it was a lot easier to grill than I thought it would be. I also did the herb butter too, and it was the icing on the steak.
Doing this today! Thanks y'all God Bless!
Awesome let us know how it turns out 🔥🔥
@@bluffcitygrub Thank you once again! This was amazing! Great call on the cooking times, it worked out perfectly. Subbed.

Lovin the Bro energy 💪
Sometime Joe is alright lol
So when do you guys have a grill meet and greet 😆. You guys are a lot of fun to watch.

Thanks! How did they turn out?
@@bluffcitygrub came out delicious!!!!🤤🤤🤤
Love this. 😍☀️
Many thanks for this video. They have just installed new gas grills in the courtyard of my apartment complex. They sell these Tomahawk steaks at my local supermarket at an exorbitant price. If you are going to buy one of those, you must know how to prepare it properly.
1:27 - That hand sign, which I use as well, means everything is good. In cuisine especially.
In Middle-Eastern countries it means the opposite, that everything is bad, as in "zero".
In other countries it is an obscene gesture, LMAO 🤣.
We are educated in Southern hospitality and nothing else. #NotCultured. Thanks for the education. Greg edited the video.
@@bluffcitygrub Thank you too. I have just been to my local supermarket. Guess what? The Tomahawk steaks were sold out! Go figure! 😂
Salivating 🤩
Man it was delicious 🤤. Appreciate the feedback 🙏✌️
Looks great but I couldn't figure out or never heard you say if in the beginning you left grill open or closed it to get sear on both sides? Thanks, making one tonight!
Thanks for watching. We always close the grill lid while we sear. Let us know how they turn out.

My GOOTNESS!
😂💥
There needs to be a layers of flavor drinking game!!! One shot every time Greg says LOF!
Challenge accepted.
Is there any difference between a tomahawk ribeye and a ribeye that doesn’t have the bone attached as far as the cooking process?
The steaks are same except the tomahawk will be a much thicker steak requiring a direct sear followed by an indirect cook or an indirect cook followed by a reverse sear.
1:07 - Bang on!
💥💥
What temperature are you cooking the meat after searing and putting it over to the side, with the lid closed?
Same temp 400 degrees f. You are going for an internal temp between 120 and 125 degrees f. Hope this helps 😎
@@bluffcitygrub followed the directions of your video and follow-up comment to a tee. Best steak I have ever had! You guys are the best!!🥩
What would you suggest for someone who doesn't eat dairy.
Infused Olive oils would be my preference. It wouldn't have the richness of butter but is a good alternative to add extra flavor at the end of the cook. You can buy them several places online or Infuse yourself. That's basically what we are doing with the butter. Hope this helps
so in total 28min of cooking? 4min of searing on each side and then indirect cooking for 20min?
Depends on the size of the steaks. ~ 2 inch steaks (like the video) would be 4 min per side then indirect until it reached your preferred internal temp. A 1 inch steak would be ~2 min per side then placed indirect until it reached your preferred cook. An instant read thermometer is key to not over cooking your steak. Thanks for watching.
So it’s about 4 minutes each side on direct heat right?
Correct! You are Just searing the outside.
What kind of thermometer ?
Any kind of insta read thermometer is fine
How hot is the grill temp??
400 degrees.
I didn't catch that are we cooking this on a gas grill?
We prefer charcoal but gas is convenient when out of town.
❤❤❤❤
🔥🔥🔥thanks for watching!!🎉🎉
@@bluffcitygrub l for watching channel 🙏🇰🇭❤️
im about to try this method on my first tomahawk steak. update in about an hour
How did it go???
The only thing more intimidating then the steak is the way Greg stares me down after the intro. What is wrong with you.
You just asked me if I was going to ruin the steak. That sir, was a Hard No stare! 😳
💥💥💥
Finger guns are dope 👈😎👉
👍
Nice 👍.
Thanks
Bruh my grill so weak. Takes 10-15 min each side to get a good sear on max heat. By the time I get a good sear, the inside is just about ready for medium rare 😂.
As long as it cooks it. I guess that’s the important thing ✌️thanks for sharing!!
You didn't clean your BBQ before cooking Tomahawk Ribeye steaks? 😞
Forgive me if a I’m missing something but I don’t remember having any bbq in this video 🧐
Whatever it is, it’s filthy.
"tomahawk steaks on a gas grill"
Yes sir🎉😎
Only thing I'll use is your butter
It is delicious!
I’m high
Love it!
Do you really have to say Tomahawk rib
eye 35 times!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for watching. To the best of our knowledge RUclips listens to your video and picks out searchable keywords by what you say. We do try to say these words more often to help the algorithm. Perhaps we got carried away. 🤔🤔🤔
Y’all ain’t from Memphis though lmao.
Interesting 🤔 where do you think we're from?
@@bluffcitygrub somewhere close but outside of Memphis but close enough lol.
We do live in Memphis but filmed the tomahawk video in Arkansas at a family members house.
Overdone and weak crust
Thanks for watching!
Folks, this is the way. I've been experimenting with different techniques on this cut, and these guys have it down.
Thank you so much for taking the time to check out our video! We love this cut of meat and we will be making more videos on it soon.
