Hi today i´ll Show you how to update your xbox 360 with an usb drive.
just follow the steps in the Video.
Newest update Dashboard:

steps english:
1.Plug your USB flash drive into a USB port on your computer.
2.Download the update file.
3.Click Save to save the console update .zip file on your computer.
4.Unzip the file. If you are using Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, double-click the .zip file to unzip it.
5.Copy the contents of the .zip file to the root directory of your flash drive.
6.Unplug the USB flash drive from your computer.
7.Plug the flash drive into a USB port on your Xbox 360 console.
8.Restart the console.
9.When the console restarts, the installation program starts automatically. Select Yes when you are prompted to update the new console software.

For people with the update not coming up, make sure that your format is correct also make sure nothing else is on the USB and once you unzip the file, click it to find a file inside it without a code behind it and put that one in the USB not the first file you get when you unzip it, put the file that is inside the unzipped file then it should work
still don't understand
I followed your steps exactly and I have hard drive with 290 GB of space on it but nothing happens. My xbox 360 just starts up like nothing is plugged in but when I go to storage the device is registered. Help?

I followed the steps (I extracted it to the USB). Now my Xbox is telling me it can't process the update. Would using a CD change that or did I mess up a step? Please help!

this is crap so crap it worked everything worked then when i got to the part were it updates the same error code as when i tried updating it with xbox live i dont get why

I have a fat32 drive but what if the format in fat32(default) and not regular fat32, will that still work?
Another person in 2020 that this helped! Couldn't believe it. I hadn't used this 360 in awhile and replaced the HD, but mine kept saying it was a network issue. Meh.

What if you already configured your usb for xbox 360 but its not being recognized in another xbox.
@ joe rushing: Fix the drive firmware. Flash to stock or replace the spoofed drive with the original model.

what you gotta do is very easy... you take apart your xbox 360 and take out the dvd drive. for instructions just look this up. "remove the dvd drive xbox 360. than you will turn your xbox back on with the dvd drive out and do these steps provided in this video and you will be good to go
this didnt work for me i got as far as putting it on a usb drive and turning the xbox on with the usb drive in it. nothing is happening

I have a 8GB flash drive that already have the format set at FAT32 as the default I download the update to my flash drive and did everything like the video and still no update do I have to have my internet on or what because this is frustrating

Guys if your usb says full all the time but it's actually empty . Go to your Xbox and before you configure your usb costumize your Xbox with 6gb less and it should work

Mine will not register. I've tried time and time again and nothing. The 360 recognizes the thumb drive but the only response I can get from it is if I rename it "default.xex" and it says "system error". It won't work for me.

CUFFED BOY you have (rgh/j-tag) xbox 360.all you have to do is download the update file on a usb .then plug it in xbox .reboot it & it will update automatically

bruh it wont install the optional media update from USB, when I reset the console, it simply boots up regularly
Disconnect you’re internet from the Xbox otherwise it will try to download the update from your WiFi instead of the usb

I just recently had my Xbox 360 try to do a update but failed in doing so. I got onto the Xbox support web site and after checking my inter net connection but still didn't work. So I tried the USB or CD way instead and it worked for me. I was also made sure I was online at the same time when I used a CD to install the update. If you do it this way make sure your USB or CD has 153 KB of space
Do you have the previous update? The one you used on the video? Because the link was updated and the latest update doesn't gets the XBOX games that are supposed to work

+Abubakar Aamer Download the zip file www.xbox.com/system-update-usb. Unzip it and and the the system folder with all the things on to disc, burn it and then put it in the Xbox. Turn the Xbox off and on and it should run. It will say extracting as it updates from the disc. You do the same as in the video accept instead of adding the files to a usb you add them to a cd to burn and use.

Easiest thing to do, reformat the hard drive. Yea you have to wipe it clean but it works faster than this video, which didn't work for me.
