The Charge of the Light Brigade was a British Military disaster where although the Light Brigade demonstrated conspicuous gallantry on the field, they never had a chance because their leadership completely F*cked it up, sending them into the "Valley of Death" taking enemy cannon fire from 3 sides. It's an amazing Poem: "Forward, the Light Brigade!" Was there a man dismay’d? Not tho’ the soldier knew Some one had blunder’d: Theirs not to make reply, Theirs not to reason why, Theirs but to do and die: Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred. Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon in front of them Volley’d and thunder’d; Storm’d at with shot and shell, Boldly they rode and well, Into the jaws of Death, Into the mouth of Hell Rode the six hundred.
"Alexander The Great" is one of their absolute best! If you like guitar solos you can't go wrong with that one and also with historical context as lyrics.
Nice reaction, guys! This is one of the few Maiden songs that I actually like the studio version better. Check out "Dance of Death" En Vivo next for a great live performance. Bruce Dickinson at his best (storytelling and vocals). 3 guitar solos in this one as well that will blow your mind.
Fantastic reaction!👍 With many Iron Maiden songs, you get an accurate history lesson. The Trooper tells the account of a British soldier in the Battle of Balaklava during the Crimean War. Lord Cardigan led the British cavalry against Russian forces during this battle on 25 October 1854. Lord Raglan had intended to send the Light Brigade to prevent the Russians from removing captured guns from overrun Turkish positions. However, there was miscommunication in the chain of command and the Light Brigade was instead sent on a suicide mission charging straight at heavy Russian artillery which cost the lives of over a hundred British soldiers. Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote a poem to commemorate this disaster and he called it "The Charge of the Light Brigade". The bronze that the recaptured guns were made from was used to make the Victoria Cross, a military medal of the very highest order that was awarded "for valour". Very few of these have ever been awarded, even to this day. Other great Iron Maiden history lessons you could check out.... Run to the Hills, Alexander the Great, Paschendale and Empire of the Clouds. I've been a Maiden fan since hearing their debut album in 1980 when I was 10 years old. I've seen them live every time they've played in London, their home ground, and they never disappoint. Up the Irons!!!
Great reactions guys. I actually like the idea of you listening to the studio versions first, definitely helps to know the song a little bit so you can enjoy the live performance more. Rime of the Ancient Mariner would be another great one to react to, taken from the famous poem of the same name and they even use a few lines from the poem.
The words on the screen are Alfred, Lord Tennyson's poem "The Charge Of The Light Brigade". it is about the Battle of Balaclava during the Crimean War. The Light Cavalry Brigade suffered massive casualties during this battle. Tennyson wrote read a couple of accounts of this battle and thus wrote this classic poem. It is worth a read and captures the essence of battle, war, decimation and cost.
Welcome to the Maiden family;-) This is the best rabbit hole in the world,,,.....so enjoy the ride;-D Iron Maiden is the best (live;) BAND in the world;-P Up the mighty Irons!!!!!
It would be cool with you have a chance to check out the song Iron Maiden from Iron Maiden with there original Lead Singer Paul DiAnno and Drummer Clive Burr on Drums.
That rift is so iconic...Have not heard Iron Maiden in years but when I hear the guitar rift....boom.... I knew the song instantly. Absolute great performance.
For the best experience of Iron Maiden classic sound, please, do listen to Live After Death. All songs are top notch and also A Real Live Dead One. Both albums are so good and yet, so underrated.
So many great songs. Number of the Beast is a good one to try. Also Aces High and Flight of Icarus touch on the historical and classical literature genres
Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Revelations, Caught Somewhere in Time, Where Eagles Dare, 22 Acacia Avenue, Powerslave, Alexander the Great. Always the studio version first.
Check this cover version on your own: STEVE'N'SEAGULLS - THE TROOPER If, or when, you like it you might concider reacting to their biggest hit: STEVE'N'SEAGULLS - THUNDERSTRUCK (an AC/DC cover). They make heavy classics their own with a totally different style.
Maiden is awesome, but if you like history you should also check out this band: Iced Earth and their album The Glorious Burden and the song Gettysburg (it's 3 parts totaling 30 minutes)
While I agree with Rime of the Ancient Mariner, I believe that the better of the lesser appreciated tracks from Powerslave would be Flash of the Blade.
Every live version is played way too fast (with a few exceptions I’ve heard from the original tour for this song, the World Piece Tour), a sentiment publicly stated by guitarist Adrian Smith. Skip the live performances of The Trooper.
I’m not sure how much you two would like the music, punk is an acquired love! But I’d really love to see you give the Misfits “dig up her bones” the official video a try! It’s a great starter song into the Misfits and you all will love that they’re health nuts, all huge! The guitarist Doyle even has some of his own supplements out, and he’s absolutely ripped to be a couple decades older than both of you and me 😂 he’s inspiring!
the energy man!!!! when im riding my bike up hill or sprinting this is my go to song. it drives me on. the lyrics paint such a vivid picture. i love this band so so much
I just found your channel and really like your music journey. I also like that you are pushing back a little towards all the RUclips "live is best" opinion that seems to flood the comments everywhere over the past few years. Live is best in real life, many of today's modern live recordings and even as far back into the 80s are so over produced that they sound like studio work wich in my opinion is boring. Also, music videos has one big advantage over live takes, it tells a visual story, like the Van Halen videos you have watched lately. So for me MV and live complement each other, you can enjoy both. But hey that just my random opinion. Since you like MV maybe check out David Lee Roth's Going Crazy. With all that said, good luck with your channel and keep being honest. 🎉❤
You really need to listen to early Iron Maiden's first 2 album's with Paul D'onno on vocals. It will see how much they progressed with Bruce Dickinson. You should start with Wrathchild from the Killers album and from the first album Phantom of the Opera and Remember Tommorow.🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
"Rime of the Ancient Mariner" and then the live version from Flight 666.
The triplets are called a "gallop", its one of Iron Maiden's signature sounds
first thing i learned on guitar was how to gallop while wearing my number of the beast tshirt to lessons
The Charge of the Light Brigade was a British Military disaster where although the Light Brigade demonstrated conspicuous gallantry on the field, they never had a chance because their leadership completely F*cked it up, sending them into the "Valley of Death" taking enemy cannon fire from 3 sides. Probably the best metal band to ever come out of the UK. And definitely top 5 worldwide. Long live Iron Maiden!!!
"Alexander The Great" is one of their absolute best! If you like guitar solos you can't go wrong with that one and also with historical context as lyrics.
Interesting 🧐
Duuuude not even top 20.
I agree with that, I think they play The Trooper way too fast live these days.
Good choice! I prefer DoD from Death on the Road, but that’s just me.
also the clansman with bruce and gers dancing.
Fantastic reaction!👍

Every Iron Maiden song is an adventure, history lesson or epic tale. The Charge of the Light Brigade!

That rift is so iconic...Have not heard Iron Maiden in years but when I hear the guitar rift....boom.... I knew the song instantly. Absolute great performance.

The charge of the Light Brigade is what this song is about. Bruce was a rock scholar.
Good to see Bruce's pants getting the respect they deserve.
Yes that 06:39 start great guitar solo.
Number of the Beast is fantastic and has the best scream ever ! ❤
For the best experience of Iron Maiden classic sound, please, do listen to Live After Death. All songs are top notch and also A Real Live Dead One. Both albums are so good and yet, so underrated.

Check this cover version on your own: STEVE'N'SEAGULLS - THE TROOPER
If, or when, you like it you might concider reacting to their biggest hit: STEVE'N'SEAGULLS - THUNDERSTRUCK (an AC/DC cover).
They make heavy classics their own with a totally different style.

Rime of the Ancient Mariner ( lyrics.. possibly the A.I. image one).... from another poem
You should check Live after death 1985 Live version for trooper. İt s my fav version.
Iron Maiden tell stories with a lot of their songs, one of the few Modern bands that do this are Sabaton! Worth checking out...
You must hear Paschendale about the WW1 where British and Germans lost abut 50,000 lives in one day.
Maiden is awesome, but if you like history you should also check out this band: Iced Earth and their album The Glorious Burden and the song Gettysburg (it's 3 parts totaling 30 minutes)
If you like history combined with metal. Give Sabaton a try. 1916 is their latest song but I prefer Bismarck
While I agree with Rime of the Ancient Mariner, I believe that the better of the lesser appreciated tracks from Powerslave would be Flash of the Blade.
Check out the Steve And Seagulls version of this, recorded live at outside, at farm. It really brings lyrics into your face...
Every live version is played way too fast (with a few exceptions I’ve heard from the original tour for this song, the World Piece Tour), a sentiment publicly stated by guitarist Adrian Smith. Skip the live performances of The Trooper.
Love the reaction! Think you guys would love “The Clansman” video from Rock in Rio!
listen to the bass line, suggestion for the next Maiden reaction "The F light of Icarus, " lyrics taken from greek mythology
Ya folks need to do a reaction to Rime Of The Ancient Mariner, studio first ,followed by the Life After Death version!!
I’m not sure how much you two would like the music, punk is an acquired love! But I’d really love to see you give the Misfits “dig up her bones” the official video a try! It’s a great starter song into the Misfits and you all will love that they’re health nuts, all huge! The lead singer’s cousin builds the best cars on earth. Look up Singer Porsche !
Aces High is wonderful, also 2 minutes to midnight and wasted years.
Please look and react to AC DC, live at River Plate, Whole lotta Rosie.
You are great😊 2:35
I always say do the studio version when hearing a song for the first time. It is the polished product the artist wants you to hear.
side note... the singer ,,Bruce. is a very accomplished fencer
Empire of the Clouds - if you don't want to see maiden live, that's a must that doesn't have live version
Up the irons
