I bought the Tab S8 back in February for the university and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT, this has been a massive game changer for me, I used to carry between 3 or 4 notebooks almost every day in my backpack for my classes but now with this tablet I only carry one notebook and my tablet, I even had to buy a smaller backpack because it has saved me a lot of weight and space. I also use the Micro SD card slot to have all my files from previous semesters and with all the functions this device has I barely use my laptop these days, it's been my best purchase ever
With technology from Wacom, Samsung's S Pen is definitely the best digital writing device currently. Tried it once on my friends' tablet, and that feels so comfortable and really made me want to replace my iPad 😂 (However I am bound to iOS by some APPs that only available on it, what a pity)
I'm worried just about one thing, Lenovo and other brands gives OLED display but Samsung tab s8 has LCD display right??? Lcd is boring 😢
Would buying the S8+ for the bigger, more A4 sized screen, be better?
Atleast in terms of University
@@kuroyurimusashi3843 Well, I've been using Samsung One UI since 2018 so I'm very used to the software and their apps, I've never used Apple because iOS is a little bit confusing for me and yes the elastomer tip in the S Pen is amazing, I love writing notes in Microsoft One Note when I'm taking my classes
@@NashDourado I think that's very subjective mate, if you pretend to do a lot of multitasking with the tablet, the 12.4'' size of the S8+ would be better for you, in my case I don't usually use more than two apps in my classes so the 11'' in the S8 is enough for me
I have the S8+ and it's what I use when on the run and when I don't feel like carrying around a laptop. It makes editing photos pretty quick and simple.
And don't forget about Samsung's Sound Assistant app where it can let you play media simultaneously. It also lets you adjust the app's individual volume, so you can play youtube and also browse social media and play videos without the other one stopping. It can also let you play sound in one app through your earphones and the other ones through the tab's speaker.
i love this feature on my s23. i love teasing my gf when her iPhone interrupts the music on the car when she's browsing social media and watches a video with sound haha
I bought an extremely discounted S7+ last year from Best Buy and it's changed how I do basically everything. I have a work laptop but I've ditched my Chromebook (which was an admittedly nice one) for this GORGEOUS screen and better speakers. It's my main consumption device and I took basically everything distracting from my phone and put it onto that. I'm more focused throughout the day AND I've got a device that is a purposeful distraction. Battery life lasted all the way through a 11 hour flight to Europe and I honestly couldn't think of a better product for me and my needs.
Can I buy s7 plus in 2023 ?
@@mervinjude5285 if there is less than 100$ difference then go for S8 plus else go for S7 plus
@@mervinjude5285 Depends if you want it new or not. You can always go the refurbished market. Amazon has the s7+ for around $500 renewed.
@@InternetDisplayofPower got s8 plus it's really worth it
I have been trying to figure out the best set up to reduce my “technology footprint.“ I’ve tried using my 5th gen iPad Air with stage manager for word documents, etc. but for me it is too cumbersome and inefficient. After watching this, I think the Samsung galaxy tab 8 or 8+ with Dex might just be exactly what I’ve been looking for! This video came at just the right time. Thank you!
Watching this on my 1-year-old, still great S8... And I agree with every single point you make. 😃 I had been using my good old iPad Mini before that one, and even though I prefer its smaller size, Apple products got soooo expensive in Poland where I live, that I finally chose S8 - and never looked back.
6 months ago my work computer started having issues with video calls, but I switched to my tablet, and the front facing camera is where it's at - I never even wanted to fix the camera on my work computer after that 😅 AND I love watching YT, Netflix, and read comics on it, the screen is great, even if it's not an OLED. After this year - I also higly recommend it. 😁
I realized ipad has a 4:3 ratio so mostly any movies will have black bars even the large 12.9 one and even the ultra in the US was actually cheaper than their base ipad with a trade in
The move to "Armoured Aluminium" is a reall good move from Samsung. I've been using the Tab S7, the older model for a bit over 2 years now, and the number of scuff marks and nicks it's picked up on the sides (that aren't protected by the Keyboard Case) really makes it look a lot worse. I might be getting the Tab S9 or even the Tab S10, and it's really nice having a peace of mind that your device isn't going to break anytime soon.
The glass backed tablets and phones r some of the stupidest things ever, except for the manufacturers who want them to break so you'll buy another one or pay them a few hundred to fix it.
I really like the new set up of you recording in a new space. I am happy that you are reviewing other brands besides Apple. Nothing wrong with Apple, but there are SO many tech brands that make quality products. I loved this video.
I have used IPads since the first edition came out 13 years ago, and waited 12 years for them to develop a Dex like function to eliminate the need for caring a laptop and a IPad. Well they failed to build that functionality into their Tablets. I have always used Android phones, Garmin Watches and windows laptops so the Apple ecosystem wasn't a huge issue. I got a good deal on a S8+ and have set my IPad aside. I like how it pairs so well with my S21Ultra and finally get the appeal of a functional ecosystem, I still struggle with some of the apps not having the same experience as on IOS but I only use the IPad for the books and music I got through Apple. Great video and a nice break from the Apple polishing
I'm using it now also for a year and I recommend it always when people ask me. I use it for school, video conferences, and of course, samsung dex. Since I have it I rarely use my laptop. I love watching yt, Netflix and what I also love is cloud gaming. If you have the xbox game pass you can take your games with you. Only thing you need is a stable internet connection. I use it for art too, there are apps for drawing. I am not a professional artist but if you're new to digital art and don't want to spend a lot of money, the s8 is in my experience the best option.
I actually got the s8 ultra. I usually use paper notebooks when taking notes now I switch to the s8 ultra coz I want a larger display. I work from home so I don’t have to worry about carrying a larger display plus things look better on a larger display😊
i recently got this for 600, it is fantastic
first tablet ive actually bought due to thinking the redundancy was not worth it, but im now using it more than my gaming laptop and s21 ultra
the quad speakers sound good, the price-performance is great, the processor drives the 120Hz screen great, the nonamoled panel still looks fantastic, the multitasking is fluid because the specs are very close to the Ultra, runs games really well (better than my S21 Ultra)
possibly the best computer price-performance ive ever had
Great video, as always, and I completely agree. I use my Tab S8 daily. During my work day, it's sitting next to my work laptop, in Dex mode, with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse attached for all my personal needs. Example: I may want to look up something on Amazon or watch a RUclips video during the work day, but I don't want to do that on my work laptop because it's monitored.
I do the same thing. I use and key board and mice that can switch between multiple devices to make its easier.
I use mine as a second screen... Life saver making works more efficient
Lmaoooo do you have a bum job?
@@williamg7138 No, my job is awesome. I've worked from home for over a decade.
I actually wanted to buy a tablet for media consumption, reading news articles and online books, emails, quick work access and easy to carry around. Also would love that additional external sd card and additional s pen that is included on purchase. I've always had that dilemma of whether to buy a S8, S8+ or previous model S7+. The larger 12.4 inch screen would be a plus point. 11inch sounds ok for my small asian size. But then again there is the S7 FE that also sounds tempting since it ticks most of the boxes i need for a really lower price. So really this is the biggest dilemma I have.
I am in the same exact dilemma now. What did you end up doing anyway?
@@praveenkumarb5555 i went for the S8+ model. There we some discounts going on online that buying it makes worth. If you plan on getting a tablet, wait until the S9 series releases most likely next month. Then buy the S8+ which will be alot cheaper but you still get some good benefits and deals out of it.
Been running the S8+ 5G with keyboard since launch. By far my most useful and versatile piece of tech I own. Truely limits my need to use my laptop, especially on the go. Though as you touched on I may seriously go with the smaller size when the new 1 drops just because it carries easier.
What keyboard are you using?
@@mariopatterson7016 Samsung keyboard cover
love that this channel is not exclusive to apple or any other company, just looks at good products. Well done
Are there drawbacks when using something like Ecxel, for example functions that can't be used? I have no experience when it comes to tablets and heard different things. I planning it on using it at uni, mainly for taking notes. I also have some Excel, Matlab, GIS, GMT, Corel, Grapher and Python courses tho, so I am scared that it won't hold up for that. For the courses I would use it in the "Chromebook" mode. I appreciate an kind of help and advice! Btw. great video!
Awesome! Video! I love the DEX mode!
i am learning english... at the same time, a gadget fanatic.... you sound so articulate and i wanna learn speak like you do.... you got a new subber here... i am from the philippines btw.... watching from my s23u😀
Have you ever tried the Daily Board feature in the Advanced Features section? It can turn your tablet into a clock or photo slideshow when you are not using it.
I got the Tab S8 on launch and couldn't imagine not having it. It helps me to be able watch content and edit photos and videos without the eye strain that comes from looking at a phone. I have also used it in the past for mobile gaming and it doesn't disappoint with the performance.
What games you play?
What about heating issue
Take a look at the S6 Lite. Seriously awesome for the sale price which happens quite often ($220). About 75% an S8. Just a little slow. (I say this because I upgraded form my S6 Lite to my Tab s8)
Got it 2 last year or two. Blurry display and also slow. Not worth to buy s6 lite.
@@jasonwright9405the 2022 version has a much better processor, it's worth buying now
I am currently debating on getting the iPad Air 5th generation (because I do art and really want to use Procreate) or Samsung's S8.
Really I do love my S6 Lite, but it is getting slow (which for me is also bad because I only have it at 64gb)
I use it so often and it is the first well made tablet I used for digital art.
The tab s6 is much better than the lite version
same.
Conclusive evaluation, thanks for the breakdown 👍
Thanks for the excellent video. I couldn't agree more, the Tab S8 has been the only device that made me put my iPad in a drawer.
I bought one for my car for a modern upgrade on my 2014 Ford Fusion, works like a charm!!
Question I have samsung tablet 6 can you add external read writable dvd drive or is the 6 ,7,8 too slow for these products
And i was thinking about Samsung tab S8 a day before, if it could replace my MS Surface Pro X. And then this video came in time. Nice work.
I’m more interested in seeing your backpacking gear in the background than the rest of the video. Is that a Gossamer gear Mariposa? Is the lime colored one an Osprey Talon? Let’s talk camping gear!
I'd like to use it as a chart plotter, but I'm wondering about its full sunlight viewing. Your thoughts?
As it turns out all 3 tablet sizes have the same specification availabilities. That means you can get the same stuff in all 3 tablets and the only difference😂 is that the plus and the ultra model have an OLED screen while the regular model only has an LCD screen and still a very nice LCD screen but still The only difference is the screen and the size of the tablet.
Battery is also different on all three.
Finger recognition has it's disadvantages, I'v been an office type worker for years with soft calous free hands, recently I began mixing mortar and filling in the brickwork on my garden wall. My hands are slightly rougher now and my finger recognition on my tablet, phone and laptop doesn't work and i'm back to using the keyboard to enter my password. I think they will start working when the wall is finished and my hands returnt to normal
I am thinking about buying a tablet. S8 (with 5G) is almost 700€ (none 5G is 600€), and the S6 is about 315€. I basically just need a tablet to watch movies and youtube on. I have a 10th gen laptop I barelly use, do you think I should get the S6 or go for S8. I think S8 will stay updated much longer than the S6. Also would you get a 5G model or the wifi version, i am debating if the 100€ difference is worth it (might be as I can just get another sim card and not bother with using hotspot).
Edit: I can get a S7 for around 500€ (new), so now I am even more confused.
I have the A8. It truly suits my needs. Your reviews a great
Very good review and informative.
I have the s8 ultra. Can't put it down. Freakin amazing
Have the S8+
First Samsung device in years, pretty damn good, considering getting S9+ Ultra when they come out
I got only struggles with S Pen, it is popping the charging notification like every 4 minutes (randomly) when attached to the back of tablet. And sometimes lags (now when I am using S23 ultra I can notice lags on tab).
Watching this on my Tab S8 😊... But you know what the new Tab S9 is really nice because of the OLED screen. Would love to have that but maybe after some few years. Loving my S8 so much now.
Watching this on my tab s8 lol, love tha thing and my s23 and buds 2
Really in debate as it's gone on sale in the UK but the S9 is set to be announced in 15 days with an amoled display and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It's rumored to be more expensive though....
Sorta off topic but any suggestions where I can sell my MacBook Air so I can pick this up? I just can’t get used to it 😄
The only problem I have is the Spen's tip seems to not be durable enough while reading reviews. Samsung for some reason doesn't sell extra tips for the Spen even though the Spen pro comes with backup tips. It seems like it's a bit of a cheap way to force people to spend more on yet another pen. I've seen someone on a forum say that one of the similar tip replacements for other devices worked but it had a few issues compared to the original tip. As a student using it for note taking that would be a massive con.
It is okay! Tips are super cheap at 1 dollar for 5 tips, they arent original but it works fine, i take notes a lot too
@@asteforcehow does it feel when you write on the tab? Does it give an e-paper texture feel? And does your palm interfere when you write on it?
There are different kinds of tips you can purchase. Felt tips and plasticy ones and they're super cheap. And if that's still a problem just ditch the spen and get the wacom one pen (pretty easy to find nibs for this) or Noris digital stylus.
Can you edit audio and video on a tab S8 that's comparable to Logic Pro Final Cut Pro?
Interesting tablet for sure although i already bought an m2 5 weeks ago
i still use s7 and works great till now.. consider having that keyboard with the touch pad from s7 bro, i think it is more usefull.. u can set vary angle and keep your pen at the back all the time..
I can see having one of these if I my needs were simpler and didn't already have a laptop, phone, and tablet.
Watching on my tab S7, still running smooth. No upgrade needed as yet.
Hi friend any idea when the s9 Ultra tablet will come out ? Also would the new one have a keyboard case with it
I have both, a Samsung S6 lite and an ipad 9. gen. And depending what you want to do, Apple has some niche software that Android is lacking. IOS has the Affinity Desktop publishing suite, Apple has better apps for music making. But aside from that, I love Samsung Dex and better speakers. On the other hand, the ipad screen has brighter display and better color range, but lightning and limited disk space stinks.
I bought the ipad as a Synthesizer and for GarageBand, my daily Driver is still my Samsung, but the iOS files App does a nice job in scanning documents and handling .pdf files. Some Apple Apps feel really polished, Android is lacking there.
I prefer the file management in Android OS, although some of my folders are really messy. Filewise, I feel restricted in iOS.
All in all, you get stuff done with Samsung, you have to pay Premium for the same usability from Apple.
Love my s8/ s pen /keyboard mouse pad case!
what about the 11inch s9? Would you still recommend s8 in 2023 over the newer one?
So you can use a Bluetooth mouse for this ?
Is this good for one drive, MS office application, editing in Word, Ppoint and Excel?
I have the S8+ from my cell provider with a sim card and i love it. I use it all day... I've been using . tab since the came out..
Love my tab s8 .. Best tablet ever ❤
hey. How much you got battery backup?
how's the screen
I love my tab s8 ultra but I still prefer my M2 iPad Pro 12.9. The tab s8 does have more functionality in my workflow but I always tend to miss my iPad more. I just hate how limited iPad OS limits the M2 horsepower 🤦🏽♂️
@@lgmarquez5469 I think 8 Gen 2 in Tab S9 would be comparable to M2 chip
@@yazouruaim694 Probably won’t. But it will probably be close.
still rocking my tab s6 with amoled screen, it was flagship thenso it still runs like a beast, only reason i would upgrade is because of the refresh rate on the new tablets, but the regular tab s8 (not plus or ultra) doesnt have an amoled screen
Have an IPhone 11 and 9th gen iPad. I would prefer to keep my iPhone but have an android tablet but need to be able to text on both devices which doesn’t seem possible?
Can I use it as a laptop (file managemnt, some video editing, word excel ppnt and pdf?)?
I have s8 plus 5g with my sim and it just godly dex and being a celluar version and it also acts as emergency phone whenever i need its amazing
did buy this, and it's great.
I have tab s8 for almost a year now and so far loving it. I am a student who love to multi task, so this just really save me from school works. I can easily bring it to school with my small bag and be productive. I don't have a laptop, but it's not a problem, so far because it has dex and I have a wireless mouse which made me feel like a have a laptop. Editing are no problem with me as it's smooth and I LOVE THE PEN! and mind you it's free with the keyboard, unlike apple ;)
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A SIGN TO BUY IT! THEN THIS IS IT!
Currently using the S8+. Love the thing.
Can I use Microsoft Edge with this tablet?
And this is coming from a guy who uses Apple products. Love it. Good for you mate. I have a tab s8 plus and love it to bits. Got rid of the ipad pro i jad for it. Never going back.
I have an Tab A8 (2023 version) is it worth the upgrade?!
Great video!
What keyboard/case is that for the tablet?
I'm subscribing because of that Dunder Mifflin shirt!!!
Just to check, are tablets able to use for Shopify?
Could somebody please tell what keyboard is he using with the tablet ? Thank you 🙏🏻
S7 plus for 570 usd or S8 plus for 735 usd? The only thing i am considered with is that there is just 1 more year of security updates left. i dont know how that will affect my usage? would love some tips and a recommendation?
I've got an old model printer, can I connect this to the tablet, does it scan?
I love my Galaxy A 8 Tab. from Samsung I have the Walmart version 64 gig and never had any problems from it after 1 1/2 years and it's still working great I guess it's time for me to move up to the S 8 for more internal storage thank for the great revew 😎 later 🐊.
The only drawback is the ability to open XML PDF forms. This problem is not only related to Android, but also iPadios. Else, all is perfect using the Tab S8+
☃️
Great review
currently using tab s7 still running flawlessly.
What about a business college major? Is this a viable substitute for a laptop?
Please review the new Samsung Book3 Ultra!!!
At this point, woundt be better wait for for the s9?
Agree. Samsung tablet is literally the best Android tablet so far. Been using Tab S7+ for 8 months and been very satisfied
This video represents me, I"m fascinated with tab S8. For those who are looking for a tablet, notebook and laptop, all in one device, this is definitely the best choise. I take notes for university with samsung notes and the Spen, they have for me the best expirience taking notes in a tablet, also I use it like a computer with DeX mode, I bought a monitor a bluethooth mouse and keyboard and is insane the experience like a computer that DeX mode offers. I"m realy impressed with samsung, for me, any other tab or iPad can offers more than the Galaxy S Tablets. I bought the S8 bc I didn"t have enought money to buy the S9 but If I had I would buy the S9
I just found out that Lumafusion is on Android now. Have you downloaded it and edited a video with it yet?
It's been out for like 7 months
They've fixed many issues and even tuned it to work well with dex and air actions for shortcuts
I love my tab s8. I know the ipad has a richer ecosystem but I'm happy with my decision of going with android
Does it have mirror to TV capability?
Nice recommendation video
As a very very satisfied Lenovo P11 Pro owner I have to ask, where's the track pad?
Isn't there a more extensive keyboard available for this that does have a trackpad?
Watching this on S8 since launch and it's really been nothing short of amazing. Best tablet I've ever owned hands down. I replaced the Book Cover Keyboard slim for the trackpad one and it's also great.
Does it hold its position in any angle (the trackpad keyboard case)? So that you can freely decide which angle you want while using it? I dont know which case to buy
@@lxnd yes, what you said. And what's great that it's detachable too so you can use it without the keyboard
@@fizziefizzer Okay thanks!
Originally purchased the Tab S8 last year but upgraded to the Tab S8+ 5G due to needing a cellular compatible tablet for work as most of my job is going from aite to site and most sites do not have access fo wifi. I'd highly recommend any of the Tab S8 series tablets.
Can you make a video comparing this with the OnePlus Pad?
How many years of update does it still have ?
Just watching this video I noticed screen bleed? Until you're thermometer covered it red smudge.. Also I bought used s7 I found screen bleed like white smudge dot's this was icons and the pen cause in grey mode test..tft screen not sure why amoled olrd i would expect..i still want rgis tablet..but im on the fence because off above!
I wanted to try my hand back in Android tablets. I've used iPad Pros since the first pro came out. Before that I used the Galaxy Note tablet Samsung came out with and I loved it. Now I use the Tab S8+ and for the most part I enjoy it. I wish Samsung stuck with storing the S-Pen inside the device. And I see so many people rave about Dex but literally every time I use dex, my tablet glitches and lags and it is just a horrible experience. Am I alone in that??
Sorry to hear that, I think your Tab S8+ is broken. Mine works perfectly and is my everyday PC now. I have windows laptops, chromebook etc and even my work (Management consulting) I can use citrix workspace to work remotely in windows 10 environment. Get your tab replaced with samsung
@@rwno1 Hmmm I don't know if it's broken. It does have other issues though. The S-Pen doesn't line up on certain areas of the screen. And the swipe gestures are super laggy too.
I need a laptop for SketchUp and drawing, do you recommend I get this or the ultra?
@@iMikeTech811do you have a magnetic case on it? I would remove that instantly. The magnets can fuck up your tablet. Had the same issue on the S7 I tried, the pen wouldn't line up on some areas of the screen. But it was too late by then, the damage had been done. Attaching the pen to the back would drive the inside magnets insane and do all kinds of funny stuff on the screen.
I thought you can just download memory from the internet. Why do i need an sd card if i need more ram?
The camera is similar to the iPad 10th generation, along the horizontal side, which is amazing
I already bought mine in 2022, it took me 4-5 months just to pay for it, and I had to get the plug in and keyboard separately, these days it just sits around and does nothing, it cost me $2500. But it’s well worth it.
which is the better buy between the 3 S8 models?
does it havea keyboard pre included in the box?
Great tablet, but my only issue is the blown up phone apps, the Google play store is the same that’s on the phone
This is actually compelling me to get one of these tablets😂 I have the iPad 10th generation and I love it, but this seems absolutely amazing too, as well as having access to dex
the only thing driving me toward this tablet is how clean it looks
