I've messaged a lot of big developers asking why they don't have any Android apps or better implementation, and all of them give the same answer. Fragmentation, Google still has trouble to find a sweet spot that Android can be easily developed for. There's so many processors, Exynos, Snapdragon, Mediatek, ARM etc, also the camera's are not consistent, making apps like Tiktok and Snapchat have lower quality video's even when the camera's might be better than the Iphone. Google is not getting the hint that this is one of their biggest hiccups that they need to fix. If Android finally get's good app development interface we might get to see apps like Procreate, Dazz Cam, Appolo etc expand to Android making the choice much easier to invest in a Android Tablet.
@@kizanko I understand and agree, that's the biggest factor to android's drawbacks. But it's not something Google can easily fix as they don't control what other manufacturers do with android. We literally have fridges that can run android - but that'salso the great thing about android. However, that's a bit of a lazy response from developers sometimes. Many android apps aren't supported for large screens at all, and you're lucky if they can run in both landscape and portrait. Android runs the same base OS to these devices meaning developers need to create responsive apps to all device types. Apple created different OS for each device type and developers need to create different apps to each platform instead - you'd think that's more work, time consuming and more expensive.
True, the Samsung tablets are really great, but it's quite hard to use their full potential and especially for someone that works in the creative sector it's just not possible to use an android tablet to the full extend like an iPad. 😶 I'm a big samsung fan and used their phones, watches and at the beginning also tablets, but ever since I started working, I rely heavily on the Adobe creative cloud apps and android just doesn't get any of those apps like photoshop, illustrator and more, so I needed to get an iPad. And even tho I don't really like apple, I must admit, that they have a great selection of apps for their tablets, so I have to stay with them and will probably invest in a new iPad pro soon 🤦🏼♂️
I have a Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, and people will just stare at it and ask me what it is. They are stunning, but I do agree, most people aren't willing to fork out that much money for it if they don't have a specific use-case. I got mine because I'm a digital artist, and I absolutely love it.
@@jyoti6548Honestly yeah its strong as hell sometimes I am having trouble pulling it out 😂, but you can also buy a cover from samsung that covers up the pencil as well
I just upgraded from the Tab S6 Lite to the Tab S9+, because I take all my university notes on a tablet AND WOW. The speed and gorgeousness of the S9+! In addition, for me I'm actually hooked into Samsung's ecosystem at the this point, Quick Share, Samsung Notes, DEX, Second Screen (which lets you use it as a Windows monitor), and all the multiwindow optimisations. Samsung has been working hard to make an ecosystem that is more open than Apple's but matched in convenience. (Obviously they aren't quite as polished yet, but the features are already there)
Ok, 3-month update: I friggin LOVE this tablet! I use it for literally everything. I haven't touched my computer in a solid month. I couldn't have picked a better piece of kit, for me. One caveat: video editing is possible, but you don't have the same options as iPad. This is more of an app problem, but worth mentioning. I use Luma Fusion, so I get along just fine, but the app companies need to step it up.
I have a Tab S8 and love it a lot. It's a brilliant 5G device that can last a lot longer on battery than most laptops. Sincerely hoping Samsung won't kill off their flagship tablets lineup anytime soon.
Its great until you view a grey background and see the OLED burn in. I like MiniLED on tablets better because they have a long life cycle (hopefully microLED soon)
I'm watching this from my tab s7, and I can say that after all these years it still works absolutely perfectly. No performance issues, no weird stuff. Couldn't be happier, and the moment I choose to upgrade I'll definitely choose whatever the new galaxy s tab is current.
Same, my tab s7 has been abused to hell and it still holds up fine. It's the main reason I can live with a pixel 4a that I barely use for anything other than calls and photos. I use this thing constantly, for media consumption, reading, gaming and I don't think I can go back to just having one big phone.
I have a Tab S8 ultra and I love it. I ran my whole business off it for a while. I ended up getting a new laptop, Windows machine, and now it's my permanent double screen on that setup. Wireless dual screen setup is a very underrated feature.
@@giovannibucio yeah you're right. The ecosystem between a normal laptop and an android tablet is basically the same, whereas with apple you would need everything from this company (Ipad and IMac f.e.).
100 bucks more, the pen comes with it, bigger screen, better speakers, I traded all of my iPhone stuff in and now I'm fully samsunged out, watch tab, 23 ultra, buds. Everything.
You are living the dream now. I just got the tablet, and I am enjoying it. I have been a samsung guy for a long time, but I never knew having the phone, tablet, and watch would make my life so much better.
The tablet being waterproof is actually a very good selling point for many people who own boats. Most people I know who are looking for gigantic tablets wants them for navigation at sea since it's more user friendly and less expensive than a dedicated navigation system (and I know waterproof doesn't necessarily mean salt water proof, but it's still better than a tablet that isn't waterproof)
Got my S9 Ultra yesterday. Honestly, I don't know if I've ever been as blown away by a device before. It's absurdly thin, I was astonished. The screen is beautiful, too. Can't wait to really see what its capable of.
Hi, could you please tell me how is the screen outdoor in direct sun? Can you see anything on it? I would like to buy one to use it as a headunit in my car but there's no reviewer covering this aspect. Thanks in advance!
@@Dirtyhealz it's 7pm in the UK and a little cloudy, so it might not be the best time to be testing it. Overall yes I could still see it, but the visibility was definitely reduced quite a bit. I'll test it again on Saturday in the middle of the day and comment again
@vincentleong9701 the elephant in the room when I bought it was of course the iPad Pro. But I don't have any other apple products, and seeing them in person the screen on the S9 Ultra was just too good to pass up 😅
I'm of the generation that had a dad come home one day after work with a brand new 13" color TV. The ones with two channel knobs that you had to manually click to change stations - it was the best thing ever and boy was it big. Pretty amazing for us X-Gens to see how far tech has come in our lifetime so far.
And yet in many ways its also went *backwards* in that same time. One of things I miss most are physical controls like those knobs you mentioned which are far easier to work with than touchscreens. Since at least 2010 its been a continual slide towards data harvesting, forced online connectivity and non-intuitive interfaces.
@@Racistobamathere's no way i am believing that a touch screen control gonna be more harder than physical knobs... Uh uh.. no way Though it comes with, how the software is optimized and designed.
Lol. When I was a boy, we rented our TV from a shop. It was black and white as there was no colour then. The picture was made up of tiny lines across the screen which you could see if you got up close. It took 5 minutes for the thing to "warm up" so we could see the picture properly.
I broke my chains in the apple ecosystem yesterday. I switch From a iphone12Pro to the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Best decision I ever made. My airpods still work just fine too.
There still isn't tbh. Most people would buy an iPad blindly because it's still the best. And when u say tablet, iPad is the first thing that comes to mind.

@manan_s yes there is. Apple is losing marketshare so its obviously having an impact. No its not the best. They just had the first movers advantage that's all it is
I love my Tab S8. One feature that needs to be talked about more is the Second Screen function built into Samsung's UI. I have a single monitor setup for my pc and I love being able to cast my desktop to my tablet for certain functions while I'm gaming on my switch docked or using it as a second screen for videos when playing a game on my pc.
Do you guys use screen protectors on your tab? I want to protect my S9 screen but at the same time i prefer using the screen as it is, so i am in a dilemma
@@Nostalgia_Addict i think you should try one and see if you like it. Or get the official matte screên cover thats detachable if youre into drawing and writing.
I really hope these android tablets do well ! It’s a win win for both parties. Android users will have good lines and options for years to come and IPad users will probably get better upgrades due to the better competition.
The industry has already agreed to ignore Android tablets. They were there even before the iPad existed but they never had any significant market. Third party developers just stopped developing apps for Android tablets.
Tablets are a fantastic tool for sailors. My dad has a sailboat, and uses a bunch of very impressive weather, current, map, and sailing related apps. He has a doc for the tablet below deck, and carries it around and off the boat as well. So, water resistance would be a great feature for him.
I think the voting with one's wallet thing is spot on. People will rave about Samsung tablets but then not buy them because they prefer just using their regular PC over a tablet.
Remember all the NPCs salivating for a Galaxy flagship with native "stock android"? Guess what, they came out with the Google Play Edition Galaxy and nobody bought it. Lesson learned.
@@bradhaines3142 And I don't think many people can really blame you. The iPad Mini is a great tablet with amazing features considering it's a 'budget' tablet. Many android tablets in that price category lack certain features and feel much cheaper than apple tablets.
The biggest advantage of Ultra tab including S8 Ultra is that we can see 2 pages of textbook or notes at the same time. I think many students may find it very attractive.
Same opinion here. I have s7 plus. I use moonreader pro on one side and Google pdf reader on other side with two different PDFs. One is Textbook and other is Solution manual side by side.
These tablets are solid. I've been using the 7+ near daily for 2 years now without a protective case. There are few minor scratches, but it's holding up very well. Performance is still top notch, no burn in after 2 years, picture quality from the oled screen still amazing, 4 speakers work wonderfully. If you want an end game tablet, get one of these. The price is high, but my 1,000$ 7+ looks like it can go another 2 years no problem.
As a person who tends to use devices to their max potential, I really appreciate Samsung one-upping the competition in specs. I'd prefer to pay the extra $100 so I don't end up having my tablet crash on set, or not having a micro SD slot when I need. Plus, I just like Samsung, which does help.
Looking at the Samsung and Apple website right now the 256 GB version of the Tab S9 Ultra and 12.9" iPad Pro are both $1200. The Samsung gets cheaper as you increase storage: $1620 for 1TB Samsung and $1800 for 1TB Apple. The difference in Germany is crazy as Apple completely overprices their products in Europe right now: 256 GB: 1340€ S9 Ultra 1560€ iPad Pro 1 TB: 1460€ S9 Ultra 2330€ iPad Pro
add freedom of android to it . you can literally do whatever tf you want with your android device.. modded apps, modded games, root phone, custom roms, themes, third party launchers, third party app stores, etc..
@@chrisgzm8265 The vast majority of people don't care about any of that. And for good reason. It's just not useful for most people's daily life. Different priorities is all.
I have bought the tab s7+ a long time ago (it feels like) and upgraded to the tab s9 ultra. I can say with full confidence that it was the right choice considering if your already in the Samsung ecosystem. The bigger and more power chip in the s9 ultra is worth the money.
I've gone into the developer options and change the (window&transition animation And the animator duration to .5x) it helps me navigate quicker I do it to all my devices
The one thing I would add that would make it way more useful to those that may not have a use for tablets now is target display mode. Imagine, being able to hook this up as a camera monitor for video production, direct connection to Mac or pc, no software needed, or even just hooking up a switch to this for a bigger display. One of the nicest large portable displays, plus it’s an extremely powerful tablet in its own right with durability? It would become a monster hit among professionals
I 100% Agree I mainly use my Tab S8+ with my DJI Raveneye so it's a wireless display for my camera. Even on my Instagram(same name), I have a picture of this.
Well there is a solution for that although it's not really software free. There is an app called SuperDisplay which I've been using with my TabS7+ and it's working great. It even supports sPen inputs. You connect your tablet using the usb cable so there is no lag (wireless option also available). Great if you're somewhere on the move and need a little bit extra screen space. But these new massive tablets are proper second dispays considering their size.
I actually bought a Tab S9 Ultra because of your Shorts video showing the tablet. I'm like damn that thing is huge. The pre-order price made it pretty cheap with the free offer of double storage. I ended up getting the 512GB and still cheaper than the Ipad Pro. The S Pen being included was nice compare to Apple having to spend an additional $169 CAD just for a pencil.
And this is something that sometimes people miss. In the Android space, getting discounts, upgrade offers is easier and plenty full. Samsung also has thier Buisness November, or something, when they offer similar upgrades and discounts.
Using s8 ultra for study, better than anything i have ever used. Multitasking is incredibly easy. The tables in colleges might be too small for laptops sometimes, so i can just write on a big screen if I want to. It's honestly an amazing tablet
@@toptiertech7291 OP probably means that since laptops also have a non-removable keyboard, they take up more space than the S8 Ultra, the latter of which can be used effectively for multitasking both on Samsung DeX and regular One UI Android.
@@toptiertech7291 I think he means in his lap or where ever, but I see both sides of the argument. IMO a 13.3 inch laptop can be a bit too small sometimes

I can definitely see this being more useful for photographers over the iPad. The fact you can use the same software and expand the storage to another tb and you don’t have to pay extra for the pen just makes it seem more useful for photography then the iPad to me. Or I guess I should say it seems like better value.
To answer the title of the video, yes. This tablet is absolutely spectacular and very (and more) functional, you just have to get used to stopping the addiction and the constant reference to the iPad. And I recently changed the entire Apple ecosystem to Samsung's and I can confirm that the experience is just as extraordinary if not more, especially when you have other Samsung devices at home because the ecosystem is growing. In addition, with the Samsung ecosystem, you enter the Samsung/Google/Microsoft ecosystem and therefore benefit from the strengths of each, which is a clear advantage.
I literally just swapped my ecosystem to the samsung one from apple with an S23, Tab S9 Ultra and a watch 6. People don't seem to realise how good Samsungs ecosystem is and that's partially samsungs fault for terrible marketing on that aspect of it.
Loved Samsung but my android phone and tablet never communicated. I just switched back to apple (unfortunately and already miss my android) but my texts weren’t working with iPhone. Out of the blue my texts to iPhones would send however never would be received on apple devices. Group chats wouldn’t work and I wouldn’t receive any messages. Became too much to deal with and had to leave Samsung. Called my phone provider, Samsung and apple and no one knew the cause or a fix
Samsungs ecosystem actually interacts with all the other ones, that gives it a massive w over apple to me. Getting stuck to a single company seems like a nightmare.
I love inductive wireless charging pads that have pins sticking out at the top that you need to align to the pins of the bottom of the device. Best kind of inductive wireless charging by far.
Yeah, that's a mistake on his part. But, I'll give him a pass since he's normally really good and accurate. But this type of charging is my preference since it's doesn't waste energy. Take the iPhone for example, with MagSafe. That could easily translate into using pins for connection with magnets doing the job of proper alignment and position. The downside to exposed connectors is that over time they will get dirty or contaminated and not work, where the inductive charing will never fail unless internal chips fail.
Got the Tab S7+ about a year ago and it's been really fun to use. I use it almost exclusively in Dex mode though with the track pad keyboard attached. From the S7+ I don't feel a need to upgrade any time soon. It's still going strong and can run all the games I wanna play. The only annoyance is the keyboard seems to have some delay and I have to type a little slower so it can keep up
yeach I sold my s8 and bought s7+. Performance was a little bit better or s8, but superamoled, constant 120hz in s7+ (not adaptive like in s8) and more working space for less money makes s7+ very solid tablet on the market.
Yeah i got samsung Tab s7+ day one, and its still my daily driver for work and social media consumption. Too good. Probably wont upgrade till s10 maybe or after that one

As far as Photoshop/Photo Editing goes, one of the GREATEST features of my Tab S8 Ultra that no one talks about is the 'Second Screen' feature. SuperDisplay a $10 app works really great. The Tab S8 Ultra has basically replaced my Wacom Cintiq as my main Photoshop editing device. It's higher resolution, wireless, lighter, portable, and the S-Pen might be even better... Samsung's built-in 'Second Screen' works OK, but it used to work much better than it does now, I don't know what happened, but hopefully they will update it to work as good as SuperDisplay does. Plus, your files stay resident on your workstation and you don't have to copy files back and forth. I find that SuperDisplay works exactly the same wired or over WiFi. If there's a difference, I don't see any. As I mentioned, it's SO much better than Samsung's Second Screen. It's pretty crazy to me that Samsung definitely knows how much of a superior product SuperDisplay is and they could easily license the technology (like they do Wacom's EMR) or even purchase the company without even batting an eye, instead they ship a vastly inferior piece of software... Plus, the device is awesome all on its own... Literally blown away by how great it is! The S-Pen is fantastic and FREE in the box. You don't need to add a paper-like screen protector ($40) in addition to the $130 you'll pay extra for the Apple Pencil... I'm a 30+ year Professional Graphic Artist. When some say that there aren't Professional Visual Arts apps on android it's just really incorrect, because I use them everyday. Autodesk Sketchbook, Infinite Painter, Concepts, Krita are just a few of the apps available on the Google Play store... There are many more... Are there a few apps available on iPad that aren't on the Play store? Yes, of course, but a good carpenter never blames his tools, and with expertise and talent you can do anything and everything on android apps that you can do on iOS apps - NO DOUBT. If you're already entrenched in the Apple 'eco-system'... Then pay the extra $500 to $1500... Unfortunately, Samsung's trade-in's aren't great this year... Two years ago I got the 8GB RAM/256GB SSD Tab S7 Plus in Mystic Navy it was $356 from Samsung with a Tab S4 Trade-In I got off ebay for $175, they gave me $400 trade-in credit, so my total cost from Samsung for the Tab S7 Plus was $531. I had zero intention of upgrading. Samsung then offered me more than I paid for the S7+ in trade, for a 16GB/512GB Ultra. They also gave me $200 credit towards accesories. It was kinda of a no-brainer, plus the 4-year OS updates and 5-years of security updates for $517.59. I absolutely love the Ultra, and have no intention of upgrading, especially since Samsung will only give me $650 for the trade-in of my Ultra and the total cost will be $750 for the 16GB/1TB version... Maybe next time, Sammy...
I’m a 30+ year graphic artist as well. The issue with switching is Procreate. It is as deeply-rooted in artists’ workflows on the iPad Pro as Photoshop is on a desktop computer. There are things about Procreate that other apps cannot replicate and it’s the reason we stick with iOS. Procreate is more customizable. It’s whole experience is “smoother”. It has nothing to do with the hardware that Samsung offers. Until that app comes to Android, artists just aren’t going to switch. I’ve tried Sketchbook, Krita, Infinite Painter and Mediabang and while nice, they’re just missing certain things that make Procreate better. And those things they are missing can be as simple as not being able to assign a certain feature to a gesture.
I did not know that the Galaxy Tab had a secondary display feature. But hearing that the inbuilt is bad and to get something good you have to pay $10 it is a bit of a turnoff. I have a MacBook Air and and iPad Pro myself, and probably my 2 most used features are the keyboard and mouse sharing and the feature where I use my iPad as a second display for my Mac. It is very convenient that with no setup at all except for being logged into the same Apple ID, I can just go and enable the second display feature in the top right menu with no problems. I do not care for paperlike though and I never understood why people do. I think it is something akin to a group mentality, where people feel it is necessary just because everybody does the same. But the expensive pen you have to buy is a smack in the face. I think it is really nice that Samsung includes it in the box. However it is a bit dumb that they seem to have removed the charging brick while apple still has not. Though I am very interested in the Samsung tablets, I have no intention to swap just because of how convenient it is here in the ecosystem. I own android phone and windows desktop. So I do have experience using a lot of different os at the same time, but the user experience I feel on apple is just on another level. If I was rich I would have fun swapping between Samsung and apple and all the big choices. But since I am not I have to choose the one I think I will most enjoy, since I am going to be using them for years upon years until they break, before I swap them again.
I bought my tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e 10,5 4G T725N) back in 2019 and i still use it today. It had great speakers, a great screen, great battery and for what i use it for (media consumption) great performance. Sure it has gotten a small scratch on the screen this year, but i doubt i would replace it for that reason. A larger tablet like the s9 ultra looks interesting, but it is properly harder to transport since it is so much larger. If they had made it foldable that would been smart
I also was a S5e 4G user from 2019 to 2022 and have the S9 ultra 5G now. I agree with the portability as this device is huge but it's relatively light/thin for its size. It depends about your usage but for media consumption it's waaay better than the (very) good S5e. The best is to try it in store. I kinda agree for the foldable part but the problem would have been the crease
There is a developer option only in Samsung devices that lets you convert any Samsung phone or tablet into a secondary monitor so I think it will be a good second display for those who want a tablet and second display in one package. (The developer option is hidden and it works like the second display not like the Samsung dex, you can use your pc stuff in there)

I love my Galaxy Tab S7+, even a bit more than the samsung phone lines. It is such a powerhouse of utility. The multiscreen function is amazing (helped so much when doing papers, taking notes during Zooms etc.), and I've definitely gone into DeX mode in a pinch when I didn't have access to my laptop. That tablet literally carried me through a degree, professional work, and more. And it was so cheap when I got it on Amazon at the time (like, 499 or something!). I have Fedora 36 (Arm) running on my non-rooted Pixel 6 Pro. I'm fairly certain that with a little time and effort you can run Linux just fine on a Samsung tablet. Add a BT keyboard and mouse, and you'll be scripting in Python within minutes.
Exactly. I have the S8 ultra tab, and the only thing that would make it better for me would be if they let me dualboot linux or windows, or something to that effect.
I just got the Tab S9 Ultra and its super awesome in every aspect , from display to storage to speakers , 5G and water resistant .This thing is nice, sleek and powerful . I absolutely love it...
In case of the mini iphone, I guess one of the main reasons it didn't do well in the market was due to it's price point. There are many people who'd love to buy a smaller display but ofcourse they won't buy it if you're selling it for almost the same price as the one with a bigger display and better specs.
I had a S8+ and upgraded to a S9 Ultra. The larger screen is awesome for my workflow. And the face recognition is instantaneous (I leave and come back to the machine several times a day and don't want people messing with it). Plus I have a Beelink running windows at home 24/7 and I can remote access it whenever I need Windows-specific stuff.
@@-.unknown.- Well am a college student and I have a job. Can't spend a fortune on a tablet tho. Let alone just buying the new one because the "old" one is already one year old 😂 I could get a car or just live like a few months no problem of that ammount of money lol
Imo, this is the ultimate machine for college. Especially with that slim add on keyboard. The pen is perfect for taking notes during classes like maths and the keyboard for all the other "basic" office stuff. I'd definitely buy it over a laptop if I had the money for it rn.. As an engineering student I never really liked using a laptop in class bc you can't really easily make notes in math or do drawings very well. This just hits all the right spots for me
Yeah, it would be the perfect machine, though some might argue that the Surface Pro line would the best machines to get for college/university given that it can run Windows and all of the software that one might use throughout the 3 to 4 years. But otherwise, I do thing that having a tablet like this plus a laptop is the best combo as you’d rarely be asked to used specialised software while in a lecture.
Ever considered a two-in-one or 360 device? Also as an engineering student, I'm happy with my HP x360. I mean it comes with a stylus and keyboard. It literally IS a window laptop and I believe a window system on hand will make your engineering life easier compared to Android/IpadOS ect.
I dont know if the tab s9 series able to render 3D model or any technical drawing or running software like autocad. I'd prefer 2in1 windows just to be safe..
For someone who loves drawing this is amazing! It's like walking around with all your art stuff in one hand. And the size, it's so nice to draw without zooming in and out. I use this for nothing else but for me that's what I have been asking for since the first ever tablets came out. And I wouldn't say no to 15 inches next time
I really love my 13-Mini. Since I just use it for mainly calls, texts and other things due to my job. It doesn’t sacrifice performance because of its size. Plus when I go to the gym, I can comfortably have it in my pocket vs the regular size or plus size phones that get in the way at the gym.
I never cared for imessage and facetime. I'm definitely buying the Tab S9+. It is in-between the S9 and S9 Ultra, good princing, same feartures (except front facing ultrawide camera). A total win for me.
there's one problem for me with Android tablet. Here's lack of full feature office apps compared to PC version. Right now maybe only Matepad which get full PC feature from WPS office (special edition)
As someone who uses his tablet for drawing, i am kind of jealous of the ipad having great apps for drawing and on top of that they got if i remember correctly better video editing apps too. Specs sometimes isn't all what we want cause however you look at it, if you only plan to use a tablet for media consumption you could do that with far cheaper tablets. I wish samsung would work with app developers and make their own exclusive professional apps just so they can finally move forward, i use a tab s6 lite for 2 years so that's how i have felt with samsung tablets so far.
see if you can just use it as a second display with your computer. I use Photoshop CS6 and an app called SuperDisplay. It wirelessly (or wired) makes the tablet into a second display. This way, i can just use the programs i like...........while ALSO using touch features and having the full use of my stylus/pen.
I loved when I had the tab S8, plus the biggest downfall was that even in DEX mode drag and drop of files between apps in android is not ubiquitous. A majority of the apps in the App Store were not forced to add the rich media file API from Android 12L to their Application breaking the magic of DEX mode with subpar non optimized apps and its desktop experience. it was never the App Store and its offerings. I found plenty of apps to get around all that - other little thing that really bothered me was how Google forced the tablet even in DEX mode to use the mobile apps instead of the Web apps, and the only browser that was able to get around that was Vivaldi.
@@aegaming5871but you see that's the problem with android in general, I wish Google would be able to optimize apps and inbuilt feature for better user experience, Apple has figured that out and that's why lots of people trop to them. You introduce a beautiful feature (like Dex for example), now make it optimized and easy for every single person to enjoy it the right way, by default. Users shouldn't have to learn complex or extra steps to do things that should be basic for the products they have. I'm not an apple fan by the way
I have the Tab S8 Ultra, and I work in sales so I use it to have people sign documents and stuff and they all love how big it is and how responsive the pen is with the tablet and so far I've had a few of the customers reach out to me asking where they can purchase it and for how much. It's honestly wowed so many iphone users that I've encountered. Even a friend that draws on her iPad wants to get the S8 Ultra.
I would love to buy one but I’m scared to buy one and two years after and the tablet from Samsung isn’t receiving updates or feeling old and so on… I have the first M1 with the first MacBook Air and it feels powerful as hell for everything I do… using this situation as example not to compare MacOS with android but why Apple works better with their ecosystem and keep their HW updated for longer periods…
I have had the Tab S8 Ultra for a year now and I love that thing. Highly recommend these. They are super expensive, but I was able to piggyback on a friend who preordered the Samsung Galaxy Fold 4. If you bundled in the 128GB Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra the GAVE you the expensive keyboard case and knocked some off the price. I think it was a little over $800.
Same here. Got the Tab S8 Ultra when it was released. I traded in a Galaxy Tab S4 10.5 and Samsung gave a really good trade value for it. I got the keyboard case for free with the pre-order and bought the rugged case with the kick stand as well. Was worried the Ultra might be too big but it's amazing. Great for media consumption, streaming, and travel. No need to lug a laptop anymore when I travel. Only complaint is that some apps still aren't optimized for tablets, including Samsung's own Shop app! Every app should be able to be rotated into landscape mode in 2024.
I've had the S8 Ultra for over a year now. I can't tell you if it's better than an iPad, but my laptop has been gathering dust since I bought it. The ability to put the pen on the back either way makes me jealous and want to upgrade. My only complaint with the S8 Ultra is that there's no palm rejection in Android, which drives me crazy and has resulted in the TouchPad being disabled most of the time.
@madam-mim most of what I do in my personal life is online. The browser and screen size make doing that stuff on this tablet comfortable. I'm also able to do word processing and spreadsheet stuff easily. I'm not a hard-core gamer anymore, and there are plenty of games I can play on it to entertain myself. I've even connected an Xbox controller and played steam and Xbox live games on it. The performance isn't great on those, but it's playable for older titles.
I've owned the Tab S8 Ultra since launch last year, absolutely love it, use it every day, to this day, people around me are wowed by it, I have never seen anyone else with one, sadly that also means that accessories are nearly impossible to get for it. Will skip the S9 but I'll probably get the next one
I just cancel my iPad air m3 11 inch order but apple pencil is stuck cannot be cancel. Going to call them tomorrow for cancellation. This tab seems a lot better than ipad.
I think it would be interesting to make a review where you lived with the ipad for a week and live with the samsung tablet for a week and see which one you would prefer/did not make you sacrifice something. It would kind of be answering two questions if you wanted it to, which tablet is best to live with vs which tablet could replace my compute; I know you did a similar video in the past where you lived with just an ipad to see if it could replace a mac but hey, just a thought!
That would be a great idea. I would also like him to adopt the Samsung ecosystem to show how those products work just as well. It was mentioned in the video once 😢
On the iPhone mini: I got one because I wanted the smaller screen, but then apple seemed to do a legitimately terrible job adjusting iOS for the small screen size to the point where buttons would be appearing off screen and couldn’t be interacted with, making the phone a lot less usable. I think the iPhone mini could have worked had they tried to make it work.
As an iPad user, I think what is going to kill the iPad is the lacklustre apps situation and Apple’s control-freak approach in every aspect of the software. As it is, there is no third-party web-browser, no multimedia stream, not even a functional local office suite.
I think as a concept, the Tab S9 Ultra is amazing. I also think that it is a niche use case and an expensive product. Of course, people want to see these tablets because they are on the bleeding edge of mobile tech, but people also watch car content when they aren't in the market for a car. People just want to see the new thing.
Got my s9 ultra last week and it's the best piece of tech I've had. It's insanely beautiful to look at. It takes scrolling through insta and twitter to a whole new level 👌🏾
I got the Tab S9 regular with the keyboard slim cover and this baby is sleek af. Looking forward to watching YT on it late into the night. Insane upgrade from the Tab A model that I got a few years ago.
What I used to do with my Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 until I broke it 😭. Both my computer and tablet are broken, but I'm conflicted on whether I should get a new computer to regain vast processing power and functions or get a new tablet for that juicy late night youtube and enhanced angry birds gameplay.
For it to be an iPad killer it's going to have to capture some of the retail market... as in cash registers. The large size and customization of android seem to make it ideal for those applications. Any thoughts?
Great video. I've loved my Tab S6 ever since I got it. It still does everything I need it to, but if I was still looking for a tablet, a larger screen would be a definite draw. Android all the way for me though, would never go with anything from Apple.
I remember buying the Galaxy Tab E years ago and thought "this is too big" featured 9.6" display and while It's specs weren't anything It was still nice to watch youtube or do small things. I think my nephews have it and It works perfectly still.
In Brazil it is shipped with charger, S pen and keyboard case in the box. It is also true to S9 and S9 plus. All S9 line comes with these three extras in the box.
Not being connected to the apple ecosystem in any capacity leaves a many options for me to expand my tech bubble and its very nice, ive really been considering a tablet/ipad for my studies but havent made a decision and i think i may be swaying to 1 side after this video
I said that before but the apple tech bubble is far superior, you just get used to it so easy that being on android user feels lacking Without realizing in 5 years I changed all my gear and even bought the apple watch 😂 when before I didn't like wearing watches
How is being connected to a Google ecosystem better than being connected to an Apple one? They offer the same things. It’s comparing apples to Apples 😊
@@nexustom5823 yeah, but someone from the google/android/ windows ecosystem, I have the same feeling as you. I don't want to jump into apple ecosystem because it is all new to me, and also because a lot of my devices are fine with one another. I don't want to buy a new product which has less compactability and is from other ecosystem, if I could just buy the same from my already familiar ecosystem. I only thinking to buy myself an ipad in the future only because I feel that there is no alternative for tablets other than that.
@@nexustom5823yeah and personally i’d rather apple have my data. they have a pretty solid track record when it comes to not giving away user data. also, you can usually count on every apple product to be solid and well made. there are good products outside of the apple space, but apple’s consistency and the fluid connection they create between all their devices in the ecosystem just can’t be beat for now
Depends what you’re using it for. If you’re an illustrator, Android has only one quality app, Clip Studio, which you can get on iOS anyway. iOS has Procreate, and Affinity. Also, the screen ratio on the iPad Pro 12.9 is the same as an A4, so it feels like a drawing pad in your hands. That’s my use case, and I’m sticking to the iPad Pro.
Android also has Autodesk sketchbook, hipaint, infinite painter AND krita- which is a basically 1:1 port of the windows app. All these apps work great and depending on what you need krita may be the only app that you'd have to use, since it's good for editing photos and drawing just as well as many ipad alternatives
Watching this on a Tab S9 Ultra. Held off from the S8 Ultra last year when trying to decide whether to use that or a laptop. This year, I took the leap and I'm loving it. I tend to be more of a power user (always using 3 monitors on desktop, need to access several programs at once almost all the time) so the bigger screen was a necessity for me and really enjoying dex mode. It performs well and feels much more capable than the laptops I'm used to. Much easier to use when you need access to something quickly. Its been a long time since I last owned a tablet (Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1) so still getting used to it and trying to figure out which apps will be useful. Very happy with my purchase and I'm glad Samsung are making devices like this.
@@toptiertech7291A 1.2-1.5k gaming laptop (as you're referencing gaming performance) would last barely a few hours of doing that (or anything else) and weigh a lot more, while this is more something you would use for working a long time when you don't actually want to carry a much but still want to have access to most work-related apps as well as some occasional gaming or Netflix. Like let's say you're on holiday and you need to check something from work as emergency. They're kind of competing in different categories and better comparison might be something like Lenovo Yoga or the equivalent tablet-like thing from Asus, Though those things don't have OLED displays nor as good battery life when watching media.
Dex is a real game changer and the OS and tablet do not get the attention they deserve. It does so much things that the iPad tries to do. Dont think is as powerful as the iPad but I feel like it you can do more things than what apple wants you to do with the iPad just because the OS is not as restrictive. Plus you get the stylus for "free" and is a great stylus
What I really hope is that software developers start taking more serious the tablet ecosystem. It’s undeniable that Android tablets are still catching up with Apple’s iPad and spec wise Samsung is doing great, but there is always that issue with the software. Things are looking good, so who knows.
@@ronjosolis4413I think it’s just the lack of consumer interest in android tablets. The first few iterations of android tablets killed off any potential of them seriously competing with Apple in that space. Not saying the hardware is bad, because they are very nice and some feel just as premium as iPads, but the software has really hampered any success that it may have seen.
In my opinion the only reason why iPad is winning is only partially because of app support, but much more importantly because of the Apple branding. No matter what you say to some Apple users, they are either just satisfied, too ignorant/scared to use anything else, or just downright illogical about some things in Android being objectively better. And I say this as someone who has used both iOS/Mac and Android. I switched to the Apple ecosystem a few years ago, but for a tablet, I don't see any good reasons, personally for me of course, to use the latest iPad Pro over the Tab S9 Ultra. I have used the iPad Pro before, and I don't think that my tablet has to remain in the Apple ecosystem. Syncing notes is just about the only thing I would miss. Facetime, iMessage? I believe there are workarounds, and I don't want to text on a tablet anyway. However, iMessage does remain appealing. But this tablet is superior in most ways to the iPad. From writing, multitasking, hardware like expandable storage ability and the pen functionalities. I don't really think there is much to catch up on. I miss some of the flexibility of Android and I love what Samsung does on top of it. I am definitely considering picking this up.
I have a tab s8+ which I actually watched this video on😂. My main reason for this device was for note taking in college because I had an ipad air 3 previously but it was just too small for what I needed and all the rest of my devices were android so I caved and bought it right when it came out last year. It is amazing! it does so much that I ask of it and more and I couldnt be happier. I will always recommend this to anyone.
When the first iPad Pro 12.9" came out, my mother had gotten it through Verizon and we went to Yellowstone that summer. She was recording video with it (even though she had also gotten the iPhone 7 Plus) while holding it out the window of the MOVING car. She then proceeded to record one of the waterfalls with it OVER THE EDGE of it. Water resistance on tablets is needed 😂
I primarily use a tablet for watching videos whilst travelling in Economy class whenever I fly. I bought the 512GB Tab S9+ (and a 1TB MicroSD card) because the Ultra screen seemed too big for an Economy tray table. This was an upgrade for me from a 6 or 7 year old Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro. I'm not in the Apple ecosystem at all, so I prefer Android & Windows; I don't want to have to use iTunes or some other proprietary software to copy files to/from my tablet. I feel like the Dolby Vision support is the only thing the iPad has better than the Galaxy Tab S9 series. The storage, SoC, 12GB RAM, 120Hz OLED screen, and IP68 rating did it for me. I don't care for the S Pen or keyboard.
I’m also still using the 12mini. I had a 5C back in the day and then had flagship google phones- nexus, pixel, pixel2xl, etc. and my primary reason for coming back into iOS “in the pocket” (meaning as my personal computer) is that much of my music creation apps are available and the people I interact with the most use iOS so it can really streamline certain kinds of digital communication and sharing. I’m still pretty heavily into the G ecosystem with smarthome stuff and android boxes but yeah, small phones are great, but would be better if they had things like Dex.
One super underrated thing about the Samsung tablets is the aspect ratio for content consumption and creation. It's so much nicer to have more of a rectangle shape than a square for so many things. I will have to buy the tab S9 Plus instead of an iPad just because of that reason alone. I like the performance and the app optimization of the iPads, but after using the s 23 ultra with the Snapdragon 8 gen 2 and then upgraded vapor chamber cooling..... I've got to have it in a tablet as well
Honestly I was slightly disappointed at the snapdragon gen 2, I for some reason prefer apple’s M1 for the IPad Air 5th gen, but definitely a big jump for Samsung
The aspect ratio was actually why I almost went with an iPad despite not owning an apple devices. 16:10 is great for media consumption, but can be on the cramped side for school work such as taking notes and reading pdfs. But yes, for most people they're not gonna care about the aspect ratio lol
I actually prefer the square view more because outside of videos, the extra height is better for viewing websites and messaging apps. It's also better for productivity.
@rcfprod2427 no its not. Media consumption and productivity is better with wider aspect ratio especially calls camera of iPad isn't even in the right position lol
@@ki-seonpeck9069I got the ipad m2 pro and I don't really like watching anything on it. I find the aspect ratio too weird. And when you pinch to zoom it cuts too much. Other than that I really like it for work though. I'm a digital artist and the colour accuracy is nice
There's a nifty little feature I noticed by chance. The top right of the tablet as well as bottom left and right have magnets to keep the S-pen in place. Doesn't charge there, but nice to keep the S-pen out of the way instead of loose on the table or having to reach behind the tablet when you need it.
In my opinion, I feel like the reason why people like the iPad more, or Apple in general, is because they have all the good apps, and people keep adding more and updating more to the app store, but the Google Play Store needs more developers and updaters to improve on it.
Samsung is doing great work lately. Google needs to continue pushing for tablet support from developers.
I'm a big samsung fan and used their phones, watches and at the beginning also tablets, but ever since I started working, I rely heavily on the Adobe creative cloud apps and android just doesn't get any of those apps like photoshop, illustrator and more, so I needed to get an iPad. And even tho I don't really like apple, I must admit, that they have a great selection of apps for their tablets, so I have to stay with them and will probably invest in a new iPad pro soon 🤦🏼♂️
@@kizanko that's only reason for the subpar android tablet support for years, unfortunately!

(Obviously they aren't quite as polished yet, but the features are already there)
That's a massive jump and quite an expensive one

Ok, 3-month update: I friggin LOVE this tablet! I use it for literally everything. I haven't touched my computer in a solid month. I couldn't have picked a better piece of kit, for me. One caveat: video editing is possible, but you don't have the same options as iPad. This is more of an app problem, but worth mentioning.

The one thing I would add that would make it way more useful to those that may not have a use for tablets now is target display mode. Imagine, being able to hook this up as a camera monitor for video production, direct connection to Mac or pc, no software needed, or even just hooking up a switch to this for a bigger display. But these new massive tablets are proper second dispays considering their size.
you can use smart view to use it as a second display :)
I actually bought a Tab S9 Ultra because of your Shorts video showing the tablet. I'm like damn that thing is huge. The pre-order price made it pretty cheap with the free offer of double storage. I can definitely see this being more useful for photographers over the iPad. The fact you can use the same software and expand the storage to another tb and you don’t have to pay extra for the pen just makes it seem more useful for photography then the iPad to me. Or I guess I should say it seems like better value.
Don't forget it has the best display on the market.
Totally agree. I had the same experience and am not going back to Apple.
I literally just swapped my ecosystem to the samsung one from apple with an S23, Tab S9 Ultra and a watch 6. People don't seem to realise how good Samsungs ecosystem is and that's partially samsungs fault for terrible marketing on that aspect of it.
Same, love my S9 Ultra. The ability to use a monitor and sleep my tab is a win for me
Loved Samsung but my android phone and tablet never communicated.

Great insightful analysis. Thank you
I’m a 30+ year graphic artist as well.
TLDR
Thanks for the info 🫡
And I also bought my iPad Air 3 in 2019, but being an Apple device is already broken and out of warranty because of a known display issue.

(i know u can use a Linux terminal to install some stuff, but it's not seamless enough to get work efficiently in my field)
Exactly. I have the S8 ultra tab, and the only thing that would make it better for me would be if they let me dualboot linux or windows, or something to that effect.
why not use it as a terminal to ssh into a linux vm or VPS? :)
Can have a remote connection to a PC at home. Or a cloud one, like running in AWS or something.
I just got the Tab S9 Ultra and its super awesome in every aspect , from display to storage to speakers , 5G and water resistant .This thing is nice, sleek and powerful . I absolutely love it...
How is the 5G awesome and it’s a WiFi only device? 😂😂
@toptiertech7291 i was gonna say the same thing lol
@toptiertech7291 no there's a 5g version aswell available on the Samsung website
@@toptiertech7291and a few country exist the 5g version

In case of the mini iphone, I guess one of the main reasons it didn't do well in the market was due to it's price point. There are many people who'd love to buy a smaller display but ofcourse they won't buy it if you're selling it for almost the same price as the one with a bigger display and better specs.
Exactly, i for example went for different brand because apples iphone mini had much worse hardware for higher price...
i just purchase one as gift. and the reviews were amazing. can't wait to see what my brother thinks
Wish I had that much money 😂

@@-.unknown.- no people just like to whine about it on the internet
@@-.unknown.- Well am a college student and I have a job. Can't spend a fortune on a tablet tho. Let alone just buying the new one because the "old" one is already one year old 😂
I could get a car or just live like a few months no problem of that ammount of money lol
I just got an s9 ultra, I went from a first gen iPad Pro 12.9 and I can honestly say I have loved every second of it thus far
what do you use the tablet for? I'm between a normal s9 and an 11' pro
@rob1704 I watch a lot of RUclips and I also use my tab s9 ultra as a second monitor on my PC
This just hits all the right spots for me
check out the surface pro 9 for a windows tablet
Yeah, it would be the perfect machine, though some might argue that the Surface Pro line would the best machines to get for college/university given that it can run Windows and all of the software that one might use throughout the 3 to 4 years.
But otherwise, I do thing that having a tablet like this plus a laptop is the best combo as you’d rarely be asked to used specialised software while in a lecture.
Ever considered a two-in-one or 360 device? Also as an engineering student, I'm happy with my HP x360. I mean it comes with a stylus and keyboard. It literally IS a window laptop and I believe a window system on hand will make your engineering life easier compared to Android/IpadOS ect.
depending on how low you are on money, you could get a 'drawing tablet' (to connect to your laptop) and use it to draw the maths
Same. I'm debating between the plus and the base one. The ultra is too big
The plus is the perfect size. I'll wait a year or so to find good deals on them. Costco regularly bundles them with the keyboard included
The plus is worth it!
there's one problem for me with Android tablet. Here's lack of full feature office apps compared to PC version. Right now maybe only Matepad which get full PC feature from WPS office (special edition)
imessage and facetime mean nothing to me, but the android way of doing apps for tablets is just crap. so i went ipad
3:17 That was the smoothest transition to sponsored segment ever😂
great review, marques... love you man 👏
As someone who uses his tablet for drawing, i am kind of jealous of the ipad having great apps for drawing and on top of that they got if i remember correctly better video editing apps too.
Same dilemma, Ive been thinking on buying tablet, Samsung has the better specs but iPad seems to have better softwares
see if you can just use it as a second display with your computer.
Wtf?! There are easier solutions to that than vivaldi?
You didn't use chrome os?
Literally run then on desktop mode and create shortcuts on your home screen. You're good to go.
@@davidukahhoneslty sounds like this man dosent know how to use the tablet😂😂
@@aegaming5871but you see that's the problem with android in general,
I wish Google would be able to optimize apps and inbuilt feature for better user experience, Apple has figured that out and that's why lots of people trop to them.
I would love to buy one but I’m scared to buy one and two years after and the tablet from Samsung isn’t receiving updates or feeling old and so on…
I have the first M1 with the first MacBook Air and it feels powerful as hell for everything I do… using this situation as example not to compare MacOS with android but why Apple works better with their ecosystem and keep their HW updated for longer periods…
Palm rejection for the Keyboard trackpad you mean?
maybe when you hold the tablet reading, apple ignore that touch on the border
In what way(s) has this replaced your laptop? I'm genuinely curious.

They are out there... I have both and I love the Samsung device
Around 3:56, Marques smoothly jumps into an ad for Anker chargers during a video about Samsung tablets😂😂 Hats off my guy 💀
I had to do a double take
As an iPad user, I think what is going to kill the iPad is the lacklustre apps situation and Apple’s control-freak approach in every aspect of the software.
You know it's good when Marques makes a Samsung video
Follow you already over 10 years you are always amazing
To be honest I prefer samsung over ipad anyway. Its so handy with my samsung s23 ultra and my buds.
True. 99% of all iPads I see are asking me for a tip
True but I think alot of people use the base iPad as a cash register
and have a chip as powerful as the m2
The only android based POS stuff seems to be purpose built devices like pin pads or all in one registers.
Will be picking one of these up soon. Can't wait! The expandable storage is really appealing not to mention the big screen and amazing hardware specs.
dont the apps dont work on it they are not good
In Brazil it is shipped with charger, S pen and keyboard case in the box.
I said that before but the apple tech bubble is far superior, you just get used to it so easy that being on android user feels lacking
Without realizing in 5 years I changed all my gear and even bought the apple watch 😂 when before I didn't like wearing watches
@@nexustom5823yeah and personally i’d rather apple have my data. they have a pretty solid track record when it comes to not giving away user data. also, you can usually count on every apple product to be solid and well made. there are good products outside of the apple space, but apple’s consistency and the fluid connection they create between all their devices in the ecosystem just can’t be beat for now
Cant people be connected at both? Seriously, why do fanboys always have to choose 1 only
Depends what you’re using it for.
You must be a paid Samsung shill 😂😂😂 this tablet is not better performing and more capable than a $1200-1500 laptop
Insane copium huffing
If I could use it as a "portal" for driving a remote desktop I'd be all over it!
If power is an issue, you shouldn't be on any battery powered device, you should use desktops. Your experience overall will be so much better.

What I really hope is that software developers start taking more serious the tablet ecosystem. It’s undeniable that Android tablets are still catching up with Apple’s iPad and spec wise Samsung is doing great, but there is always that issue with the software. Things are looking good, so who knows.
Honestly am thinking if apple is paying the ios only apps to just keep on developing exclusively for apple.
If they have to catch up using a 1320$ ipad im not sure if the price is worth it
In my opinion the only reason why iPad is winning is only partially because of app support, but much more importantly because of the Apple branding.
Thank you so much for all your reviews. You sound very professional and knowledgeable !
You are welcome. I'm. 71 years old, not professional but eager to learn and excited when positivity is the result!
Water resistance on tablets is needed
😂
I've got the Tab S9 Ultra and it's fantastic
This would make a great 2nd monitor to a home PC setup that you can easily pick up and be on the go. I really like the dimensions of this.
In my opinion, I feel like the reason why people like the iPad more, or Apple in general, is because they have all the good apps, and people keep adding more and updating more to the app store, but the Google Play Store needs more developers and updaters to improve on it.
