They were given comfort care. They died while unconscious, in a hospital with their loved ones saying goodbye. Lexie was crushed to death by a plane, out in the woods. She died in pain, afraid, and thank god she at least had Mark to hold her hand. Of course it hit different.

After some thought she must be fairly smart to have finished an undergraduate and med school which on averages takes 8 years. However, she did skip 3rd grade. If my math would be correct she would have had to skip an entire year of either undergraduate or med school to be in the surgical program at 24. Her photographic memory would probably account for this.
