No, Verstappen should have turned in a wider arc, instead of driving his car into Hamilton's car. If you are outside, you turn in a wide arc. That's it.
@@tamasvass8087 Name one racing driver that would give more space on the inside then absolutley necessary other than yourself. There wasn't one in the group of experienced race drivers called the stewards.
There was 1.5x the width of the car of space on the inside not including the apex. That's more then a full lanes width on a highway of space.
Puzzled why you should blame the one that gave space ... Truly puzzled.
But to get back to the point ... Find a non British race driver and we can talk again.

@@versiable8041 Actually this is not quite right. In 1989, Prost was out of the race and Senna won the race, but was later disqualified, not because of the contact itself, but regarding coming back to the track cutting Suzuka's last chicane.
In 1990, both drivers were out at Suzuka's first corner, so, no penalties were "needed", as the drivers "banned" themselves.

Manipulated penalties, points taken away, and crashing out multiple races (including the one in this video where Hamilton under steered into him), he still managed to go even in points into the last race. Lewis didn't even get to the apex before the collission. The apex doesn't care how you get there. It's just there. I've seen drivers drifting into it, going wide and sidewards into it. If you can make it everytime then you're driving slow and definately not racing.

3 times is hardly by accident.
Having now seen Charles and Lewis go through Copse this year, and seeing how far to the right Lewis positioned his car, makes this 2021 incident really damning on Lewis. Lewis was 100% at fault here and a 10 second penalty was mighty generous.
Facts
There was no way Hamilton was hitting the apex on the line that he was on because Verstappen had squeezed him against the wall going down the old pit straight and clearly had some understeer. Verstappen didn't turn in on him through Copse and was in no way his fault but Hamilton couldn't have done anything either as if he had of hit the brakes before Copse Leclerc would have been taken out as well as Hamilton himself being taken out. This year Hamilton was leading going into Copse on the inside meaning that Charles had a lot more space to his left that he could have gone out to if they were looking like they were going to crash. Not that much of a Hamilton fan but 2021 was purely a racing incident.

Agreed! Honestly that was disgusting from Hamilton, he had loads of room on the inside, Max was clearly ahead and the incident was on purpose. And frankly outright dangerous as he could have killed him as they were doing 180mph. How he did not get a black flag and a race suspension is truly incredible. Not only that, Max had to deal with component penalties in following race because of an accident his main opponent caused! Outrageous! Not even close, vettel was behind bottas at turn in. Lewis was level with max at turn in, at the moment of impact he was almost all the way over to the apex, only missed it by a couple feet, And wasn’t moving to the left at the moment of impact. Max tried it around the outside, cut down too far and cut across Hamilton’s front and took himself out, a move dangerous for the both of them. Lewis left almost the entire track of space on the outside for max, and he didn’t swing wide into max. At no point before impact was lewis moving from right to left. He didn’t do to max what he did to albon in Austria. Max’s fault, max should’ve been penalized. So no, lewis is not a hypocrite for his French gp comments. Becaus lewis didn’t do a mistake, max did. Lewis was saying it feels wrong for someone to make a mistake and then finish ahead of the person they took out. Lewis didn’t make a mistake so this doesn’t apply to him.

He has a completely different voice in several radio calls when something is done to him he didn't control. Lewis cheats when he's under pressure there so many examples of this. Actually, look at the onboard and the overhead replay, there was no understeer to speak of! Hamilton purposely missed the apex of the corner, because he thought he'd end up in front of Verstappen who would then have to back out. It turned out that Verstappen kept in front and Hamilton had to back out because, since he purposely missed the apex (at least 1m of room on his inside), he would run onto the racing line where Verstappen had to turn in to make the corner.

@@Kevinschart the 10 second penalty that can be executed at a pitstop is only a punishment if the field is close together. He just switched to the Hards, and he had all the time in the world to pull away from the rest of the field. A stop&go penalty that needs to be executed in the next 2 laps is much better. If you want you punish someone for causing a crash (and a at a very dangerous speed) you will need to consider what type of penalty you are going to give. They must have known full well this was not going to hurt him at all.

Pretty interesting when you watch the replay. At first it seems like Verstappen was expecting Hamilton to go on the outside (or behind him) and take the inner line for himself but Hamilton quickly makes the change on the inside which Max notices and give Hamilton enough space despite being on the outside just about to pass Hamilton. Hamilton doesn't like what he sees and instead of getting closer to the apex he decided to stay closer to Max, resulting in the crash captured in the video.
In other words, it's Hamilton's fault.
I gather you didn't watch the in car footage from verstappen car, where he turned left then suddenly turned hard right into Hamilton, even Karoon Chandhok pointed it guess you choose to skip that bit.
