I think people compare cannatrol to a wine fridge because it’s actually a wine fridge with modifications Iv found the exact unit they use... also if it is a thermoelectric wine fridge , all a humidity controller can do is turn it off and on.. a thermo electric cooling module condenses water as a by product of cooling stripping humidity from the space. Yeah there may be some settings to taper off the humidity but it’s just turning the peltier off and on ... if you buy a wine fridge I suspect your just a humidity stat and a wet sponge away from cannatroll like results
The only other thing is thermo electric dehumidifiers don’t condense that well in cold environments so it may also have a heater to help it condense and dry. Or it switches on and off in cycles to build up temperature before it condenses and cools it ... Only a tiny amount of heat would be needed to Make condensing more efficient.

Speaking of dry and curing...I've been looking at a active cigar humidor for storing and curing medicinal plants. It maintains rH between 60-75%. It keeps the temperature at 50f-68f. @@DanJonesShow I see it now. That unit doesn't have a way to adjust the humidity - it will automatically go up and down between 62% to 75%, which depending on the temperature, is more susceptible for mold. It's also smaller than the Cannatrol.
@@GardenTalkwithMrGrowIt Right on! Yeah this particular unit is on the cheaper side and uses propylene glycol to control humidity, basically what's inside of those boveda packs, which are also used in the cigar world. There are units that will control your humidity and temperature (basically a wine fridge with a humidifier and an exhaust fan) There's a lot to explore from the world of cigars and curing and storing medicinal flowers. The biggest issue is that cigars require a much higher level of humidity. Cigars are post cure and are much further away from being "alive" in terms of the plant as opposed to a medicinal flower.
