Reducing fungus gnats can be done by putting red construction tape all the way around the rim of the pot with most of the tape sticking up above the edge. The poor fliers come up from the soil and get stuck on the exposed tape. I've done it for a while now. It's easy and practically free, which is why folks don't seem to want to try it. OK- spend money :)
I spend money on neem seed cake and add it to the mix, no gnats at all. Better to prevent the gnats in the first place, why have a chronic problem just to save a couple bucks?

Cool Q&As aka MrGrowIt 👊😎 I got to say, I grow autos in Coco and I want to say this to everyone who's growing in Coco.. "WATER YR PLANTS w/nutrients EVERY SINGLE MORNING!!" Your plant/s be so much bigger and so much healthier, none of this water every 2-3 days... that's bullocks. My Amnesia Zkittlez 3weeks from harvest 😻😋 ✌️❤️to all
As for environmental control for tents... I have a cold air intake fan at the bottom of my tent and hot air exhaust fan at the top of the tent...it helps balance humidity and temps
I use fabric bags and put a couple extra bags of mix in the tent that I keep wet to buffer RH. A variable speed exhaust fan is a must. Misters don't raise RH, they wet your plants making them prone to PM. You need to keep your plants dry. My RH is high 60's but my plants stay dry.

If your having trouble with a filter not working try these things: -Ensure you have a quality filter and replace every 2 years or so -ensure your room is as close to air tight as you can get, and -the filter has to run constantly to ensure negative pressure. This last point can be tricky if you dont have a filter fan that stays on at a preset level if not triggered by high temps. Mine runs at "1" constantly and turns on to "10" when the temp hits 28°c and have never had an issue with smell. Good luck.
for humidity i use milk cartons every time i finish on i cut the top and use it for humidity then by the time your canopy forms your humidity will be higher
Grew an auto using 16/8 light cycle, not the greatest auto I've grown but I got ok bud, not much I must add but it was good. 😅 I'm running a 18/6 light cycle now to see if I get any improvements with the same seeds I got that 2 of the 5 seeds hermied and I have 1 sprouted and another for another attempt later if this one fails. My photoperiods have been kicked outside and they are exploding with vegetative growth still, can't wait til flower, one is topped and one is left to grow naturally, can really see what topping has done.
I have a humidity problem. If I had to humidify, I would get the biggest pot I have , boil water and leave it in the grow space every 3-4 hours -on top of something to prevent melting the bottom of the tent.
The good way to trim faster is to put it in a plastic bag that's food grade and gently roll it after it's dry enough not to dry. And slightly roll the bud it will take of all those sugar leafs. And it normally bounces back to its normal shape.
You can place a 6-8 inch inline fan on a timer with a carbon filter in your room, on the floor with the inline fan or higher up, and it should kill the smell from the Cannatrol drying setup.
At 7:06 if you really want to take care of the smell just get two filters and two fans get one just a little bit smaller than your main one and stick it directly underneath so it blows right into the other filter they show that diagram in the AC Infinity little booklet
The sponge was a very specific choice. By making it a replacement sponge it holds Just exactly the right amount of water so the system isn't weighed down logistically figuring how much to pass between water and charcoal. Additionally it makes the system less accessible and that's good. Less chance you'll start fooling with it and ruin the process. As far as the smell goes, that's really a separate issue. Imnsho
I use dilute neem oil (10ml per liter of water) against thrips and fungus gnat. It's a slow extermination, so it's best used as a preventative. It's not absorbed by the plants, and evaporates on its own within days. It's technically not a toxin but a feeding and reproduction inhibitor, meaning thrips won't suck any sap out of your plants, and their eggs won't develop properly. It also seems to inhibit population growth for the fungus gnats, but it's just a significant slow down and not a full stop. The only way to truly be rid of fungus gnats, in my own experience, is to dry out the soil and let it be dry for a few days. The big disadvantage with neem oil is that it must be applied thoroughly and daily when there's an infestation, otherwise it's just a simple washing with it a couple times per week. Neem oil also smells bad. Like burnt rubber mixed with burnt electronics, flavored with burnt excrement. I hate the smell, but it's in the "water-feed-health check-neem spray" routine loop, and works good enough for me, so I'm happy.
Got mine last month, thanks to Chris's opinion and used it on the default settings for the 1st run 4 dry 4 cure on the 2nd run I adjusted the dew point to 55, 4 days dry and 8 days cure. I am amazed how simple it has made things for me I hope you get the same out of yours.☮☯💚🔥🌿

6:54 Air passing through the filter too fast won’t be fully scrubbed of smell. Two ways of slowing down The speed of the air going through the filter. #1 you could obviously turn back the fan speed #2 increase the filter surface area. (Get a longer/larger filter) Also, Some people just put a fan on a filter and leave it in the space. And I don’t recommend that. You want to gently pull air into the space through the cracks. Almost creating creating a vacuum in the air. This “negative pressure” on the leaf surface Will help pull moisture up through the plant.

starting in solo cups moisten the soil before you add the taproot, not wet just enough to stick together when squeezed in hand.Carefully put in seed & add just a couple drops of h20 on top and lightly cover with soil. I germinate in the dark, when it pops from soil I then give it light. From that point you don't wanna over-water cause growth stunting and droopy leaves will occur. I just mist with a sprayer and add with an eye dropper for the first week..
@@stangcobra592 Thank you. Yes, it is very important not to overwater the seedlings. But when you transplant seedlings from a small pot to a large pot, should the soil in the small pot be dry or wet? How is it better?
for the guy having a problem with smell filtration lower your temps and make sure you have no air leaks except for where you specifically want air to enter then you should be fine unless you actually do have a bad carbon filter or fan for your space

Can a neighbors outdoor garage lights affect my outdoor grow? Considering asking if they use led or perhaps turning them off at night. Reading things both ways..
Loved the vid you did on Cannatrol..... It has troubled me ever since. It has thrown a wrench in the hole 60/60 rule. Every bit of cannabis content out there is either wrong or vague... I can't find any of the Science anywhere about a room I can dry in an not be a hurry to jar.
Yup, no papers on the 60/60 method; it's just people saying, "this works best for me" or "this commercial facility does it this way." Although, there is science out there showing a specific window for drying where you want the buds to be at a specific moisture content and water activity. If buds dry too slow then microbes grow such as bacteria, fungi and yeasts. If drying too quickly, uneven drying can occur which many relate to a lower quality end product. A water content of 15-16% and water activity of .60 is low enough to stop the growth of microbes and you can get to that water activity with different temperature and humidity settings. There's more to be said here and I really should do a whole video on it. The off-gassing that happens during dry and cure is another interesting topic.
@@GardenTalkwithMrGrowIt Just jarred three out of four plants after trying to chase dew-point between 52-54F dew-point while plants hung for 10 days. Temps in the basement were between 66-71. I adjusted Relative Humidity wherever I needed too keep dew-point in my target zone. Best jard bud thus far.. I feel I saved all the terps and the bud feels amazing... seems like there is still moisture. Branches didn't snap... I suspect like in the Cannatrol. I've been trying to find Science on this and have come up empty handed... I'm sure someone like Dr. Bugbee would maybe know the Science, but I looked and found nothing from him either... I can't believe someone isn't talking about this somewhere. I'd Love to watch if you did a video and talk about drying outside a Cannatrol. 60/60 is too dry and it's like playing roulette I think... Sometimes I get it in the jar in time and sometimes I'm a day late on jarring and lose so many terps I feel.
Regarding the Cannatrol and smell... Do you think putting the unit inside a small 2x2x2 tent would help for folks who can't have any smell? Would that negatively impact the units operation?
This may sound like a dumb question to some of you. However I am curious of this. I’m growing using an all organic living soil method, I’m well into veg going to flip to flower soon. but im showing signs of calcium magnesium deficiency, would it be ok to use liquid cal-mag brand calcium, magnesium or something like the liquid sensi cal as a foliar spray?just to get a control over the issue before amendments can start working? I have a feeling the answer is no, it will cause nute burn. I have personally never heard this addressed and im in that situation currently. So I’m curious…
Is it necessary to cut the cotyledon leaves when picking and dig deep so that that place is underground? I read somewhere that new roots will form there.

my VPD readings are what the temp/humidity gauge says in the tent, that's as far as I go with that, no real need to check EC if your feeding routine is consistent, but I will check runoff ppm on ocasion to get an idea of the soil environment especially close to chop..

@@MrFugean Ohhhhh... yes, I think you are talking about the Build-A-Flower Top Dress. Yes, I love it for top drees going into flower! Loyal to the soil 💯👊
@@stangmann1521 Yeah just checked the bag lol. its the build-a-flower
@ mr grow it would giving my plants old aquarium water be beneficial it is supposed to be full of beneficial bacteria and nutrients plants love?
Back to the trimming question, thoughts on the bag shaking trim method?
Im growing in Southern California dessert outdoor........mostly we get Sandiego weather but July/August.....we get 100 degree week .......and it burns out the turpines.....plants have no smell.......its partial desert......and they dry within days.....due to the low humidity out here (%35 humidity).....undortunately the plants have no smell..but i also worry about the sunn burning the trichromes as well....thoughts on growing in high heat
Great video!!!!!
You can stick your cannatrol in a small tent and use carbon filters and never smell any thing at all
Good idea!
i use flower nut from start to finish great results!!!! try it
I over all run the whole grow off the soil I make but use a ton of worm castings I make aswell tons of malted barley and now and then blue gold fusion flower and Lilly of the valley aloe gel whole leaf and I get the best finished product in my entire area according to many many people nothing comes close to the taste smell and clean buzz the genetics I choose is a big part aswell.
When transplanting seedlings, do I need to water the seedlings first or, on the contrary, do not water for several days so that the soil is dry?
starting in solo cups moisten the soil before you add the taproot, not wet just enough to stick together when squeezed in hand.Carefully put in seed & add just a couple drops of h20 on top and lightly cover with soil.
I love my bowl trimmer but use both blades lol it comes with 2 different types
for the guy having a problem with smell filtration lower your temps and make sure you have no air leaks except for where you specifically want air to enter then you should be fine unless you actually do have a bad carbon filter or fan for your space
Cinnamon is a Good repellent to fungus gnats..
Also Arctic King 148 can cooler works beautifully for 12 half gallon mason jars to store / cure in. 200$

dry
Great content Chris, loving my Cannatrol, thanks for using a scientific approach instead of Bro science! Keep up the great work, looking forward to the next one. ☯☮💚🔥🌿
Question for another video: What are the best seed banks/ online seed sources?
Have you had issues with purple kush? Fineky?
stoked to try some Stash Blend!! Sounds next level, do you recommend using it throughout the whole grow?
Can a neighbors outdoor garage lights affect my outdoor grow? Considering asking if they use led or perhaps turning them off at night. Reading things both ways..
Have you ever ran into a plant mutation from seed? More specifically polyploidy.
Would that negatively impact the units operation?
i grow small plants like you !
Uhh, when it comes to smell,, some say you are running the fan to strong. Overloading the ability of the filter to scrub.
Ill pull all my macro gear out and focus stack some killer images for ya.
I've used this method, and it really does work!! I noticed a big difference within 3 days.
Hell yeah… I have epsom salt too, I honestly forgot all about that. I was probably just over thinking it eager to fix it quick. Thank you
Is it necessary to cut the cotyledon leaves when picking and dig deep so that that place is underground? I read somewhere that new roots will form there.
Good morning Mr Grow it. fungus gnats I've been dealing with for about 3 years of greenhouse grow living soil in Michigan. Yellow sticky traps for flyers. And to get Rid of in living soil GNATROL wtg. Add to water after 3 watering all gone I've tried nematodes didn't kill all larvae this stuff does if you are having any gnat problems gnatrol is the shit.
Has anyone ever said that not flushing at the end of flower makes for harsher smoke ? Notice sum cultivars are harsh that get from dispensaries that I go too. So what have u heard when it comes to taste and flushing.
Trim pro unplugged I love it
Ive been growing 6 years and have never checked my PPM, EC or VPD and grow top shelf, people stresss to much about that stuff imo.
I only check pH
@@phillipstewart2031 same
my VPD readings are what the temp/humidity gauge says in the tent, that's as far as I go with that, no real need to check EC if your feeding routine is consistent, but I will check runoff ppm on ocasion to get an idea of the soil environment especially close to chop..
Right on!
Just finished your book!! I love it!🔥🔥 What do you think about the hey abby grow box?
Finicky or not, Sour Diesel must have a perfect environment that it loves and thrives in, no? What did you learn about it? Which seed company did you get it from?
Nirvana seeds and they r either garbage or your right and I have to baby the hell out of it.
I would have to imagine the wildfires are probably playing a big role in Mr. Canuks absence. Maybe.
A plant tray filled with water have the fan blow at it. Keep safe buy a ground fault circuit interrupter yes GFCI😂 for any gardens. Maybe your host should always warn people. There’s nothing more satisfying than knowing that you have saved peoples lives. I’m still stuck on four it was a beach thing😢
