I just told my husband about “Mr. Much More Patient than I” coming along behind you in the gardens and cleaning up… He told me, “Don’t get your hopes up.”
Erin, didn't hear the sump pump until this video when you pointed it out. Must be the white noise phenomenon?!? Anyway, no complaints from me and love the painting! Thanks for all you do, and all I know thanks to you!
Even after you mentioned the sub pump I still couldn't hear it! You do you, especially during the winter weather. Postcard on its way to you this week 😊
No sump pump for me either until you pointed it out today. Must be my concentrated focus so I don’t miss a single thing - that or the fact I have one in my basement as well & I just LOVE a dry basement. The painting is very nice and a wonderful memento of a special time in your life doing something else that you obviously love to do. Hope your trip to VA turns out well and those Cherry blossoms are doing their fabulous thing while you’re in the area. Safe travels & stay well.
Love the postcards, feels like a big community that loves gardens. I did the Master Gardener program when we moved from the Midwest to Utah. Learned a lot but my favorite part was meeting other gardeners here. I also participate in the volunteer opportunities including flower studies being done by the University here, growing veggies for a free farmer's market for senior citizens.
Well there goes THAT sponsorship! My mom was a huge fan of Miracle Gro but she also raved about Miracle Whip so I think she was just hoping for a miracle. I'm going to ask this question again because it turns out I really want to know...can sweet potato vine tubers be stored like other tubers and if so can they be divided? Thanks Erin!!
I live in Virginia. I've seen the cherry blossoms in D.C. and I've been to Monticello. If you have to choose between the two, absolutely go to Monticello! So worth it! The nearby University of Virginia campus is also beautiful and worth seeing. The mountain views in this area are incredible! Washington D.C.'s parking and traffic will eat your soul!
How amazing would that be to group travel w/you to a wonderful garden destiny. Erin, please consider this option. Don't over concern yourself with the details of the experience. My #1 suggestion is the NYBG. It is on so many bucket lists.
Erin, don't worry about the pump. Who really notices this kind of thing, and then bothers to mention it to you???? OMG I never even paid attention to it. Just do what works for you and everyone else will just have to deal with the barely noticeable noise. Keep up the good work! Your garden is always beautiful!
If you watch the videos on a crappy tv, while walking on a treadmill....there's no sump pump/water feature noise to be heard 🤣. My home office has two 'water features' also. On the topic of water features and office locations, my former office location (in an actual office building) had a flat roof-which resulted in a massive leak. After failed attempts at patching the roof, maintenance installed a 18 foot tall downspout under the leak, which drained into a 55 gal.drum placed next to my desk. Instant water feature. My cubicle was also next to the restrooms. 😶
What noise? Seems like a picky thing to complain about. I love it that you just let it roll off your shoulders. Keep being authentic. Always love your videos!
It is wonderful you are sharing your knowledge with us so for others to be so focused on the abstract is just being petty. I really appreciate your efforts to educate and make our understand of gardening greater.
Liked hearing the story about the art, such a cheerful picture and great memories. Hope you get to see Cherry Blossoms-I've seen them once and they were wonderful!
I am doing my spring planting here in NW Ohio, zone 5b, I am realizing how much your channel has influenced my plant selection this year. I am adding 2 clematis varieties, sweet peas, 2 kinds of Nasturtium, and 3 kinds of Nicotiana.
Dang someone beat me to the Garvin Woodland Garden post card. That’s what I was going to send, it’s only 1 hour from my house. 🤣😂🤣 I guess I will have to find another spot. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Erin. Didn't hear the water until it was mentioned and I still can't hear it. Lovely to see the picture of Rangi (Rangitoto Island) and the boat and yachts. I remember those America's Cup days and Dennis Connor. Was exciting and nail biting times🤣🤣🤣 I think half the country stopped work to watch the races on TV. It's a lovely wedding gift. Love your videos. Jeanette, Auckland, New Zealand
Erin, I grew lime green nicotiana and verbena bonariensis from seed last year because of your videos, and I’m so glad I did. You are so right about how they tuck in nicely between perennials and provide so much interest. Thank you!
What a sweet story about the painting! You are perfect for sports reporting! I always think you look so familiar to me-I’m not from NZ. But, yes! A tv sports personality!😃
It was so cool to hear about your time in Auckland. I have walked up Rangitoto while i was 3 months preganant, with my sons school class. Went to the botanical gardens in Auckland too, beautiful place. If you ever get to go back. Xx
Hi Erin! Great post! I'm newly retired, starting to travel more, and would love to hear your complete bucket list for top 5 (or 10?) international and US gardens you want to visit. (And yes please host a trip!!). The postcard pix are very inspiring (and overwhelming!)! Thanks!
You are so real and natural ~ you are THE BEST! I've never heard the sump pump, so don't let a snarky remark make you change locations! LOVE your painting and especially the story about it! Thank you for all you do!! ~
Hi Erin, I hadn't noticed any water or pump sounds at all, could barely hear it when you pointed it out. A trip with you would be so much fun, you are a refreshing kick in the pants! Thanks so much for all of your videos.
No sump pump noise here - I'm too busy listening to what you have to say and show and tell of the postcards. I LOVE the pc segment added to your already inspiring videos. The backstory on the painting - priceless and memorable for you and Mr. Much More Patient. Thank you for keeping it real and all you do :)
I always love your videos and the sump pump is not at all distracting! My sump pump is running too! The ground is thawing and the rains have been going though. All good signs of Spring!
Don't worry about the sump pump, I'd rather hear that than have your basement flood. You are so right on the diversity of quality instructors, or for that matter any professional. People should get out in the garden more and let their bad experience of one person blow away. Love your videos and personality.
Enjoy these sessions, Erin...and loved hearing about the painting! Such an interesting story. I've often wondered how you make time to sail and have such a gorgeous garden. My husband and I live on a lake and he would spend EVERY weekend ALL weekend on the water...and I just want to garden everyday, all day! A little give and take...
I love that you say the botanical name and the common name of plants. I want to know how to pronounce the botanical name and end up just kinda saying it fast in hopes nobody notices. LOL
Erin, you're exactly right about plant choices in Utah. I did a full cut flower garden and just responsibly used drip. We've had a wonderful winter, though, so this year will be better. Those were fantastic drought resist plants for someone just trying to get nice plants to survive. They need water to flourish too, though, and some people just let them die, and then they look horrible. A little water goes a long way!
Erin would love to do a garden trip with you..I have many on my wish list ..a lot in England of course but stateside would be cool too. Love your videos you have great thoughtful content.
What "water feature"? I don't hear a thing or any background noise. A sump pump? Beautiful studio! Some people are trifling! What a GREAT story about painting as a wedding gift. What a great yachting history you have, wish more like y'all would publish your memoirs. Wonderful and inspiring postcards! Great idea, what fun, thanks for sharing with us.
I love your honesty! Also, I used to be a MiracleGro addict until I recently learned that synthetic fertilizers can push your plants too hard. I have always had great results but have recently moved to a new growing zone(much more heat) and don't want to stress my plants as there are more pests here. Anyway, thank you for sharing your knowledge!!! Love your videos.😊
Welcome to the WMA (Washington Metro Area)!!! Right now, the Cherry Blossoms feel like a bet at a craps table... Here's hoping that the crowds aren't too crazy, as it can feel like you're trying to board a train in Tokyo with the amount of people. The whole point of Cherry Blossoms is to O-hanami (or relax under the trees and let the blossoms gently rain down on you). We (joined by some friends from our time in Japan) spread out a blanket under the trees and had a picnic, and we got some STARES from the masses who were shuffling around the narrow path along the Tidal Basin....
Couldn't care less about the pump's hum! It's great to know a little about your life. Now I know why you're so pro with the cameras and so comfortable in front of them. Probably some innate talent in that, but you've cultivated it along with your gardens. Love your videos!
Great video Erin, you mentioned your going to try see the cherry trees in DC,if you have time there’s a free garden park called Wheaton regional park, check it out.
Miracle Gro potting mix when soaking wet is massively heavy and will poorly drain. Last fall I bought a small bag of Miracle Gro Orchid mix and it was a bag of nothing but small pine bark chips. I am in full boycott mode now.
Hi Erin, I followed your example and stored a small tree in a container in an unheated garage this winter. When do you move your container back outside? Any special treatment to reacclimate it to the outdoors? I'm also in Southeast Wisconsin. I'm enjoying your channel - thank you!
Oops, missed hearing the Better Homes and Gardens photo shoot story! Also can't wait to hear about the 2023 garden project you've dropped hints about!🤣
I heard that if you are a certified organic grower selling produce or flowers the seeds have to be organic. For the home grower, save your money, seeds do not need to be organic if you are using organic growing methods. Not sure if this is true but sounds right to me.
Greetings from across the "Big Lake!" I garden in Spring Lake, MI. I am so delighted to have found you! Your videos are sooo informative, practical, inspiring . . .and down-right FUN. I have just one question today: Where do I send my deposit for your tour😁? What FUN would that be!!!
Come to NY.... Day one NYBG. Day two the High line, little Island, and maybe Governors island. Then there's only about a zillion more excellent Gardens and Parks to choose from if you want to keep going. Horticulture is definitely at a high around the world now. I'm not sure it will last, but there is so much to see if you want to travel.
You have mentioned before that you're not really interested in having a permanent greenhouse, and have considered doing a video on the subject. Is that coming anytime soon? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter. Thanks.
You’ve probably answered this in posts I’ve missed, but where do you get seeds for Nicotiana Alata ‘lime green’? I love your pictures, but they are really hard to find. Also love your channel!! Thanks!
Just starting some first now. Do we want more seed videos? I feel like between what I’ve done and what everyone else is doing maybe everyone is over seed videos? Maybe I just need to to think of a new spin.
