Very on point in the end part of the vid, for people who already have both Hori Split Pad and Pro Controller, they'll tend to use them for its niche, but with people want to have 2 in 1 controller that can serve you handheld mode and Pro Con mode, Binbok RGB Joy Con is one of the best options, though it really ends up on whatever is your preference.

Amazing Video, I have heard that Hori has released newly updated controllers fixing many of the problems by RUclips, one of those problems some say is it being too big so they released a slimmer version, could u do a review on that one comparing it to the normal binbok joycons.
I think this is a good option for people who cannot upgrade to the better red box switch The hori pad does draw power from switch, so with my old switch, I probably get like 2-3 hours with smash This could increase the hours with binbok pad
I don't understand how your Split Pad pro can draw more power when the other one has motion controls, rumble, and RGB. I get increased battery life when I use my split pad pro because it's not using those features. (Could just be me being dumb though)
Binbok's wireless feature doesn't really matter if you bought yourself a pro controller. That's how i roll with my split pro. It doesn't take any power from the switch as well. If im low on battery i just dock it with the split pad pro and use my pro controller instead.

Split Pad Pro has been the best for me absolutely. If I wanna play with a controller on the TV I have a Pro controller but I like the Split Pad Pro better for handheld.
So I just bought the hori controllers and loved them. Then I came across the binbok that actually have rumble and button mapping that the horis don't have. Binbok also lines up with the screne. The horis sit a quarter inch above the screne. Time to take back the horis cause I need the button mapping
Is there any difference on the gyro control compared to regular joycons or pro controller? Im a big fan of motion aiming, and dont want something that is less responsive or not as good original nintendo products.
Got a pair of third party joycons gifted to me by a friend on Xmas, it's just joycons with a handle making them more comfortable but they're not larger. But they do charge with the switch, have the rumble, gyro and everything.
The connection thing is a little too wide imo.Was thinking of maybe using the one that originally came with joycons and just cutting away the grip parts so only the middle thing that connects them remains and use the Binkbok joy cons on it.
I did this with my first party Joy-Con grip, and it works great! Just find a tri-wing screwdriver to take actual grip piece off, and you'll be golden! 👍
It would have been perfect if you could map the backbutton on the left side to for exemple one of the face buttons (on the right side). It’s a shame they don’t have that otherwise I would have bought them.
He said you could use the button remapping tool in the switch so just make the d-pad or some other unused button the button you want and then map it to the back of the controller. 1. I have not tested this and 2. You do have to have an unused button but that's as close as I can think of
@@bland9876 Wow that’s actually realy smart. In games like fortnite were you don’t use the depad that often, I could map my jump button to my debat (through switch software) and then use it on my left backbutton.
Like 20 minutes after I bought them on Amazon, Spawn wave released his video. I've had them for a couple days and I see this video. That was fast! I just wish they had a charging grip and an audio jack. They also block the USB porst on the Switch dock. Needs better feeling plastic. The drop off at the back to the Switch/grip should have been less sudden. The programmable stuff is a little confusing, too.
These seem cool, but my Switch V2 never leaves the dock since I got the Switch Lite. Funny enough I don't really cross play games between them. I have games I only play on TV and games I only play portable.
Hmm... interesting thing about the D-pad. I got a binbok controller and opened the D-pad side... and found no such stickers anywhere. And I bought mine soon after Spawnwave's video so there wasn't any feasible way the makers could've gone back to make a new batch without them so... I guess it's a difference in manufacturing.
Man, and I JUST bought a Hori split pad pro too, but it feels very plastic-y to me, and I hate that there is no rumble at all. No vibration, no wireless, I should have looked more into it, but I think that after watching this video and Wulfdens, I’m gonna buy a binbok.
What about the sticks? I suppose they are better than the ones on the original joycons (yk bcs of the drifting issue) but u didn't mention anything ab it so I thought I'd better ask
I wish they would fix the analog sticks on the binboks. Go into the stick calibration and do small circles in one of the 4 quadrants. With the binboks you get an awkward square, with the Hori you get a smooth circle. At the end of the day, control matters. The binbok is more comfortable, but the only games they work well in are ones that don't require much dexterity (turn based strategy, etc.) and in those games motion control and rumble is arguably not important. My wife uses them playing Pokemon and is very happy with them. As a player of FPS, etc., I go with the Hori.
Great review dude. I’ve had the binboks for almost a couple months now and i agree with most everything you said. The d-pad does function better without the stickers under...no idea what those things are even supposed to be for. I haven’t used the hori ones, but it looks like they’re raised in the front, whereas the binboks have that “chin” on the back, allowing the front to be flush with the switch, which I think aesthetically is much nicer.
@@Raidraptor_-_Ultimate_Falcon you mean like ZR/ZL? They still work just fine. I assigned the paddles on the back to R/L, so I don’t even use the actual bumpers themselves.
For me the hori split pad pro right joycon keeps disconnecting big time and its really annoying. The left one also starts to be a lil pain im the ass and i have them for pron 8 to 9 months i believe
My main factor against buying the HORI ones are that they're only compatible with the standard Switch in handheld, and I would want to be able to use them with both my standard Switch and my Switch Lite (for tabletop on the latter when out somewhere (when there isn't a pandemic)).
@@daviddevito5698 we shouldn't have to repeatedly send them in. Replacing the parts is a temporary solution, they just start drifting again in a month. We're looking for a permanent solution.

@TomTomTwig ik, and its really dtupid that they dont. They dont really have an excuse since their pro controllers can go years wthout getting drift. I’ve had a pro controller for 3 years and it got slight drift, i blew into it and i never had that problem again. If theyre making a “switch pro” they should make the joycons better, or at least liscense a 3rd party company to make an anti drift controller. I’m torn because I love the table top mode it’s one of my favorite. I’m currently using the hori but this binbock looks good good for that but I love the way the split pad feels and the button sizes and whatnot it’s a hard one
The D pad issue probably has something to do with patents. You see, everything in a controller is under a patent, and so, that perfect D pad is probably patented by Nintendo or Sony or Sega. For that reason, perfect imitations cannot be produced, companies such as Binbok must come up with their own patents, that need to be different enough so as to not be too similar to the ones that already exist. It is for that reason that these inferior design Dpads keep being released to the market. In fact, if you disassemble an Xbox controller, you will find out that the D pad insides are quite contrived and convoluted compared to the ones in Sony or Nintendo's controllers and that is because they were forced to come up with a different design quite a while after their well established competitors. I think this was the source ruclips.net/video/2lQFFqBqXT0/видео.html
@@thatanonwholurksmoar7386 ok, Your mileage may vary. I haven't played every console, but In any case, that's a Sony patent, so it's very hard to find a D pad as good as the Vita's because that design is patent protected
The binbok is a must have for handheld mode. Although I’d recommend the slim version over the regular ones to reduce bulk, especially if you’re using the wider switch oled. I just wish I could use my switch lite and continue games in handheld, but unfortunately Nintendo doesn’t allow that. Seriously though, you won’t regret getting the binbok. Decent rumble, many lighting options (although you unfortunately can’t turn it off), and you can use them wirelessly. I like the back buttons which you can map to L3 and R3 for greater convenience.
They should be both pretty durable and strong. Since you are propably looking for something for portable mode, the switch itself is way more fragile, so no worries. They are both also using similar-ish Joysticks, so they should be fine as well. The only controller (stick) I'm aware off, that has wide spread drift issues, are the original Joycons (tough they are cheap and easy to replace, anyone who discards or sells his drifting Joycons to get new ones is an Idiot). The question therefore is: Do you often play 2D titles? Then the answer is Hori, because of the better D-Pad. If not: get those in the Video. They offer MUCH more functionality for the same price.
Which one would you say is closest to a pro controller feel? I like using the pro controller a lot, but as I’m finding myself traveling a lot more, I might want a backup set just in case.
I turned off controller rumble a long time ago, so hori is great and has worked well, feels very comfortable. COD made me stop with the rumble, had it off ever since.

@@danbooke2001 Same here. Portable mode doesn't exist as far as I'm concerned, it is a TV connected console only. A pretty poor console that has no off button accessible via the controller, won't power on at all if the battery it doesn't even need is dead, and has comically small controllers that an adult human cannot hold. I'd really like Nintendo to make a proper console only Switch. If they can do a portable only Switch, they can make a TV only Switch too.
NexiGo are a good alternative as well. Has the addition of RBG lights, rumble, motion controls, wireless use, good buttons, charges while dock and decent battery life.
I think Binbok is what I’ve been looking for but I’m gonna have to wait for it to be available again, I have the split pad pro and it’s comfortable but the takeaway for me is that it doesn’t have gyroscope and that I guess the little notches behind that go behind the switch doesn’t let me use covers on my switch for a little extra protection. I’ve not used the binbok and have primarily used the hori ones which are nice and comfortable but my cons for them are the rubber buttons which are nice but put it in your bag or something and pull it out after and you gotta clean them cause like rubber it’ll get hairs or lint type of stuff on it and the fact that it’ll wear out eventually even is you take care of them like how the gba had the rubber start and select, another con but that’s for both it seems and I can’t really complain is the nfc reader for amiibo but being honest no one is gonna walk around with amiibo on them at least I don’t think unless it’s those cards that I’ve seen online but regardless and this is for everyone it’s up to personal preference,
Ah, good ol Hori. I wouldnt trust the other brand. The regular Joycons are not fine. They suffer from many design flaws, but to me the biggest one is the stick size. The small ball inside the controller makes precise turning very hard. The distance between zero and full input is less than a cm. Add to that the low resistance and gameplay is sure to suffer in many games, especially racers and precision platformers. The second biggest design flaw of the joycon is the ergonomy, or lack thereof. The 3rd biggest design flaw is the lack of a proper D-pad. Both of these alternatives seems to fix those issues, but Hori does it a little better, probably because they are veterans.

@@supbro293 Fair enough, but you have time before we see these things really getting some hefty restocks. If you can I would still say to get the Series X saving just a little bit more for it if you can. I only say that cause you will indeed miss the disc drive first and foremost. I thought I wouldn't, but sometimes I want to play a disc game I have on the TV my Series S is hooked up to and realize... oh wait, no disc drive. Second is the hard drive, man that internal SSD sucks at a little over 300gb of usable space. Sure you can cold store games on an external drive, but if it is optimized for Series S/X you HAVE to move it over, it won't even give you the option to play the Xbox One version. I don't know, if you're strictly a digital only guy and just want a GamePass machine, maybe going the Series S is the way to go, but I've got well over 300 disc games that I need a drive for, so it doesn't work out for me just having an S. $200 extra gets you a disc drive, bigger internal ssd, and a lot more processing power and output features.

The main reason I’m considering the binboks over hori is the motion controls. I play a lot of BotW rely on the motion controls to aim the bow.

As someone who loves motion controls to death, I actually don't mind aiming in BotW with the SPP. The sticks are sooo large aiming is a lot easier than you think. I still would rather motion controls though.
@@OliverKane3582 It would be really cool if things like the split pad pro could tap into that gyro. I'm sure it's not as accurate but it would be really cool nonetheless.
I legit got joycons drift on my 5 month old controller and just found these two weeks ago online and was about to order them soon haha. I'm glad you reviewed them because now I'm definitely buying them with no hesitation

I have a feeling officially licensed third parties are not allowed to add rumble to their controllers so they don’t end up confusing customers with all that HD Rumble thing.
Very on point in the end part of the vid, for people who already have both Hori Split Pad and Pro Controller, they'll tend to use them for its niche, but with people want to have 2 in 1 controller that can serve you handheld mode and Pro Con mode, Binbok RGB Joy Con is one of the best options, though it really ends up on whatever is your preference.
check if you messed something up while opening up the left joycon... this might have been what caused it to stop charging through the switch

Amazing Video, I have heard that Hori has released newly updated controllers fixing many of the problems by RUclips, one of those problems some say is it being too big so they released a slimmer version, could u do a review on that one comparing it to the normal binbok joycons.

3rd party joy cons with rumble, I need this!
AND Gyro
As a Splatoon player, high quality gyro in a controller is ESSENTIAL for me. Definitely gonna check this one out!
I think this is a good option for people who cannot upgrade to the better red box switch
The hori pad does draw power from switch, so with my old switch, I probably get like 2-3 hours with smash
This could increase the hours with binbok pad
I don't understand how your Split Pad pro can draw more power when the other one has motion controls, rumble, and RGB. I get increased battery life when I use my split pad pro because it's not using those features. (Could just be me being dumb though)
@@hajilee4539 it’s because the binbok has its own battery so it will draw power from that too, not just the switch
Binbok's wireless feature doesn't really matter if you bought yourself a pro controller. That's how i roll with my split pro. It doesn't take any power from the switch as well. If im low on battery i just dock it with the split pad pro and use my pro controller instead.

The horis sit a quarter inch above the screne. Time to take back the horis cause I need the button mapping

Is there any difference on the gyro control compared to regular joycons or pro controller? Im a big fan of motion aiming, and dont want something that is less responsive or not as good original nintendo products.
These Nintendo channels need more subs these guys are literally teachers
Got a pair of third party joycons gifted to me by a friend on Xmas, it's just joycons with a handle making them more comfortable but they're not larger. But they do charge with the switch, have the rumble, gyro and everything.
Have you heard of the STOGA joycons? I think they’re cute since they’re animal crossing themed but I don’t know how well they actually function.
Besides that is it still ok? Some people say the deadzone of the stick is bad and it is holding me from buying it.
These seem cool, but my Switch V2 never leaves the dock since I got the Switch Lite. Funny enough I don't really cross play games between them. I have games I only play on TV and games I only play portable.
You're weird
I do the same. Don’t hate us cuz we have options lol
Hmm... interesting thing about the D-pad. I got a binbok controller and opened the D-pad side... and found no such stickers anywhere. And I bought mine soon after Spawnwave's video so there wasn't any feasible way the makers could've gone back to make a new batch without them so... I guess it's a difference in manufacturing.
Unrelated question: Where’d you get that Ahsoka beanie 👀
Man, and I JUST bought a Hori split pad pro too, but it feels very plastic-y to me, and I hate that there is no rumble at all. No vibration, no wireless, I should have looked more into it, but I think that after watching this video and Wulfdens, I’m gonna buy a binbok.
What about the sticks? I suppose they are better than the ones on the original joycons (yk bcs of the drifting issue) but u didn't mention anything ab it so I thought I'd better ask
Having owned my split pad for about a year now, I can safely say the stick on those is not prone to drifting
@@derk.ex.machina idk dude, I just saw a comment on here that said there's drift . your probably lucky.
@@derk.ex.machina mhm, tho I was more interested in the binbok Joycons, but thank u anyways👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I haven’t used the hori ones, but it looks like they’re raised in the front, whereas the binboks have that “chin” on the back, allowing the front to be flush with the switch, which I think aesthetically is much nicer.

@@angryburnttoast thats true, but if you want to keep the official nintendo joy-cons, thats probably the best way to do it. If youre willing to take it that far you could probably put some sort of anti dust system on your joycons so they dont drift. Kind of like how he takes off the d-pad sticker to make the d-pad better
@@daviddevito5698 i really dont care about them being official. 3rd party is fine but those dont exist because of nintendos patents and they wont liscense any 3rd party to make them.
Usually these Chinese manufacturers don't really care anything about patents
Nintendo's patent on the dpad is no longer valid. It's gone into public domain.

You can't turn the light off? That's a deal breaker for me. Maybe I'll look out for a broken set but otherwise I can't.
What would you recommend for people who want the most durable Joyce's and switch
Honestly just the regular joy cons are fine but any one of these work
Thanks for the in depth review on the dpad. I play fighting games on my switch so im gonna stick with hori split pad
More features + cheaper = binbok by a pretty big margin

@@danbooke2001 Same here. Portable mode doesn't exist as far as I'm concerned, it is a TV connected console only.
A pretty poor console that has no off button accessible via the controller, won't power on at all if the battery it doesn't even need is dead, and has comically small controllers that an adult human cannot hold.
I'd really like Nintendo to make a proper console only Switch. If they can do a portable only Switch, they can make a TV only Switch too.

Same. That said the dpad is a big no for me on the newer ones. I'm only using it for monster hunter anyway so nothing lost

One thing you better regret is lacking wireless connectivity
I just got this like a week ago
