What a man and what a team. I miss those days.
Best video utd ever produced was the 1st captains log. Love it to this day. Was only 7 at the time and 2nd season I started going to Utd. Remember my uncle buying the video and watching it every time we went round there and being mesmerised. Loved this team and the following season with Keano. Eric changed everything!

Only Liverpool were banned by UEFA. However Mrs Thatcher decided that due to many incidents of football related violence from English fans, that all English clubs should also be banned for the five year duration. .
The ban ran from 1985 to 1990. Ferguson didn’t win his first league title until 1990, and he didn’t compete in the European Cup/champions league until 1992. Two years after the ban had ended.
So Manchester United were never denied entry into the European Cup/champions league under Ferguson during the period in which english clubs were banned from Europe.
Which renders your point regarding the ban on English clubs irrelevant.
In answer to your first question, Bob Paisley the former Liverpool manager managed to win three European Cups in less than five years.
Brian Clough won two in four years,
Arrigo Sacchi won two in two years.
Zinedine Zidane won three in three years.
Carlo Ancelotti won three in twelve years.
And there are more if you look it up.
That all makes Ferguson’s two European Cups in twenty six years look a wee bit shit, I’m sure you’ll agree.

Even according to Sir Alex, Ole was studying his style attentively (especially during Ole's injury crisis 2003-2006/7). IIRC, Sir Alex said something along the lines of "Ole was forever making notes & asking questions".
I remember doing the Old Trafford Stadium tour in 99 and being told about the cups of tea at half time with two spoons of sugar for energy! And the little portable TV for the other results. How true they were. And the little room off that dressing room that Eric Cantina had installed for warm ups, because he had seen that set up in Europe
