The only thing I don’t like about this movie is the costumes. They make the same mistake so many films do: they impose current (for the time the movie was made) styles upon the era (early 1800s/Empire era) that the story originally takes place. I do feel sorry for Olivier. He is outshone by Greer Garson and the rest of the fine ensemble cast. Austin’s story is an evergreen.
