Sweet Blade brother!!!! It’s crazy to me how well the gator piss worked!!! Can’t wait to see you use that on another Damascus project. I think it was a good call hand sanding after etching it. Looks stunning!!! Your Blade Sir…… “It will cutt “ said with a Doug accent
Really nice cleaver! How flat are you trying to get the tang after forging? Trying to figure out how to flatten the tang without effecting the forge texture of the blade. Great video!
@@fishandgame I typically forge the tang flush into the ricasso and spine. I shoot for as even of thickness as possible through the handle into the spine. You can start a distal taper after you're clear of where the handle scales will end. That transition is key to getting a good brut de forge finish. I usually scuff up the tang with 120-grit sandpaper before attaching scales, just make sure you don't sand past where the scales will end.
David, thank you for the tip about taping the blade when using sharpening wedges. Just learned this the hard way, came in from the shop frustrated to watch one of your videos to find out how to fix the scratches I made while sharpening. Keep it up Sir, great content.
Great knife, "this blade will cut!"
Lol, yes it will! Keep that cut clean! 😛

For sure dude! I'm working on a 200-layer damascus cleaver right now that'll be a cool one to see in the Gator Piss.
