Amazing work Vinz! The birchbark handles are such an iconic product. Jonas has really made it his own and the Birch & Bevel brand really wouldn’t have developed into what it is without this handle design 👌🏻
Beautiful handle :) I learned the dowel trick from your linked video, worked well the one time I've used it. Both really enjoyable
Cheers Rob! Glad to hear you enjoyed the vid! Speak to you again later!
Absolutely incredible work.
Great video guys 🙌 thanks for sharing your process Jonas
Cheers buddy! Speak to you again soon!
Great video guys! I talked to Jonas about those but actually seeing how he makes them is way better than talking 👌😁. (PS: great ad read Vinz! 💪)
Thanks Ben! We are surrounded by talented makers every where it seems - Sweden, UK, Austria, Germany - everywhere!
Xz
great video. i missed not seeing the handle installed onto the blade tang though.
Wonder if you could do that with cork
Great detailed information
Thanx for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!

Are you leaving the dowel glued in with the stack, drilling through the dowel.
I make Sami style puukko's alot of times. and use Birch bark stacks many times in combination of north deer antler. I Love the dowel trick. I will need to try that sometime. Great video.
Thanks for watching Tom! Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi, could you please tell me if groundstock is suitable for hand forging blades, as this is easy for me to obtain...thanks in advance for your time
The best!!!
😍😍😍
cool handle and video, been trying to collect birch bark to try it out myself but not found enough yet, not so many birch trees where I live, you can also make a sheath from birch bark which looks an interesting process as well
Cheers Andy! Well, if you ever fancy travelling to Orebro (Sweden) - there were tonnes when we were driving around hahaha! Thanks for watching again!
Which Glue you use
Back 15ish years ago I used to build high end fishing rods. We used Birch bark for some handles then. Not sure why I never thought to use them on a knife...
Thanks for sharing! Yeah they look very cool - traditional-looking but I can see it pairing well with another of culinary knives!
Can any one tell me best steel to buy for beginning to forge blades available in uk please...?
Hi! There are lots of good steel for beginners but for forging, 1084 or 80CVR2 seems to be a great all-rounder, and easy to heat treat too. There’s lots of good places to buy them from like GFS, Barmond and many others.
@@UKBladeshow thanks for the advice much appreciated
Great video!! That handle looks great. I’m very concerned about the drilling process, looks like it would be pretty difficult with what tools I have available. Could the portions of birch bark or cork for that matter be pressed onto a 15mm brass tube allowing a perfectly centered hole for the tang to go thru? Thanks for give it us all these videos, they are always interesting and helpful.
Hi Mark. Your suggestion/question looks promising - could be worth trying for sure! Thanks for watching!
Very cool! thanks for sharing! Can we get a tutorial on no-solder guard fitting for ABS style hunting knives/bowies? I've done it a few different ways, and I'm not happy with the process of any of them haha. There's plenty of awesome ways to do it if you don't care about your hand-sanding patterns haha. It's just very impractical and time consuming, and there has to be a better way. I'd love to see your take on it.
Thanks for watching Nicholas! I’ll definitely put that in my to-do lists! Thanks!

Snyggt. 😀
