I use polar chenille and schlappen or turkey flats in a similar way for props on intruders, to get a composite loop look. I haven't had much luck with them. Never thought to palmer it. Nice looking fly

sometimes it's the little things like using the pencil eraser as a hook guard. excellent tie as well
