Kevin Harvick was a symbol of my childhood. February 2001 was right when I was old enough to remember things and sort of understand the world. The underdog scenario must have gotten me interested because my dad signed me up for his fan club. I remember the first time I ever had mail with my own name on it was Kevin Harvick fan club. I am grateful for everything I was fortunate enough to grow up watching. Without Kevin I really don't know if the history stuff on our channel would even be happening right now. If anyone else had gone in that car I don't think my interest would have grown the way it did during those formative years.
Well said! 👍 I was a 24 fan, but respected Big E and ultimately Harvick. I'll never forget standing next to Harvick after he did the truck race broadcast at Eldora and him graciously signing autographs. Good man.
Same here.. losing dale took my passion for the sport.. Kevin’s Atlanta win was a reminder that life continues on and things will be ok. I was never a diehard fan of any one driver again tho
I was a huge Dale Sr. Fan. When we lost him at Daytona I was devastated. I honestly thought my interest in NASCAR would fade away. That changed when Kevin won at Atlanta! To see the RCR crew so emotional was heart warming. Hell I even shedded a tear. From that moment on I was a Kevin Harvick fan. He brought the sport back for me. He was exciting and brash…it’s been a fun ride for the past 22 years watching Kevin grow and become a legend in the sport. I just want to thank him for keeping nascar special, for me. I. Going to miss him. The sport has changed but I’ll look forward to his commentary next year during the races.
Yeah, me too. TIme and again. It was good to see Richard Childress take part in this tribute. To have that respect after parting ways so long ago is definitely a testament to Kevin as a person. Childress didn't just recount those moments. He made it clear that he knew Kevin had what it took before Kevin proved it to everyone else.
We were there, Infield RV on The Day, saddened and shocked. Our hero was gone. We then became Harvick fans the next week, and ever since. Thanks RCR, thanks Kevin, your family and all the crews. We honor and appreciate your legacy.
His first win being at a track that Dale dominated, makes it even more special. What a legend, you don’t need a bunch championships to prove your greatness. #4ever
There is no words that could explain that feeling when he won Atlanta. It was almost like steps. Park's win was the first step.kevins was the second and Jr was the 3rd
Thank you to all who created this, fantastic. Kevin has been great for the sport, I to think no one else could have done it to the level it was done. He could have easily went a different direction but he stayed true to who he was, Dale I'm sure is proud of him.thank you kevin.
I watched that race in 2001 and i just remember the raw emotions, i was just a teenager and just learning about nascar but that moment and Jrs win at daytona were just those moments that you didnt know what to say and you couldnt help but shed a tear of joy of excitement, i just remember the crowd was just electric. Fast forward to last weekend phoenix when harvick took the lead from larson i was at the race and the crowd went wild when he took the lead. What a career for harvick, never really was a complete harvick but hes matured and become a very humble down to earth guy that is just very likable
When I was growing up, Dale Earnhardt was King to my Dad. On that day in February I remember watching the 500 with my Dad and seeing the heartbreak and sadness in him watching the press conferences about Dale. But a few weeks later we were watching the race at Atlanta and seeing the 29 car in victory lane allowed healing to begin with him over the loss of his idol. Because of that day, Kevin Harvick became my favorite driver. Kevin and the 29 car was a major part of my childhood and had created many memories that I wouldn’t give up till this days. All I would like to say is, Thank you Kevin Harvick. Thankyou from the memeries and thank you for never backing down. #4ever
Harvick is the only active driver on the grid that started the 2001 Rockingham race. Steve park won that day, but once he's retired that will end the last link to that 2001 season on track
Next year will be the first time since I stated following NASCAR in 1990 that I won't have a #1 driver to root for. Going to miss rooting for Kevin Harvick, for sure.
Been a fan since Atlanta 2001 I haven't missed a race since rcr SHR and Kevin will have 1 last ride in the #29car coming up at the allstar race 2023 #29 #4ever I can't wait to see it
I watched that Daytona 500 not really knowing anything about NASCAR. I was invited to the race at California Speedway, and was told I had to pick a driver, so chose a young Kevin Harvick - these last 20yrs ( ish ) have been fun ( THANKS PETE )!!!
I have been a fan of Kevin Harvick from the day he stepped into the 29 and when he went to the 4 I still cheered him on and I will miss cheering on my favorite driver next year when he stops racing #KevinHarvick4everalegacy
I became a Harvick fan the day he climbed into the white 29 car back in 01' I don't think I would be the Nascar fan that I am today if it wasn't for him.
the last left from his generation of rookies. still got kyle and denny, but they were later than the boom era of the late 90s through 03 or so. he'll be missed.
@@balenciagafeening yeah, not gonna lie i shed some tears seeing his vegas news conference last year. not as emotional as this year has been so far with kevin, but still.
Unfortunately that wasn’t a win for Kevin. It was a win for all of Dale’s fan’s still grieving! And really that wasn’t fair in my eyes for Kevin. This is coming from a fan who loved Dale, and was a fan of his for a long time.

Gonna suck not seeing Kevin on the track. His wins in the 29 early on in his career were monumental and helped a lot of grieving people.

And it was his 3rd start.
Kudos to everyone involved, SHR, RCR, HMS, and EVERYONE for celebrating the career of Kevin Harvick,!
Thank you is not enough.

I was 17 in 2001. I’ve been a Harvick fan for life.
I heard that SR wanted Kevin in a cup car for the 2002 season, but things happen.
That was absolutely tear jerking and so fitting thank you for everything.
From a huge Jeff Gordon fan, congrats Kevin and thanks for all you have done for the sport
Tears all over again. I was there that day. Thank you, Kevin. ❤
