WTF??? Total a-ha moment at 3:15 ‘the creamier a product is, the more it is going to crease’. This is the first time I have heard this, I have been buying creamy concealers all the time because my skin is so dry, so I thought a dry concealer would make the situation under my eyes even worse. But by laying down the oil first, I guess that takes care of the dryness, so adding a dryer concealer on top means it won’t move around as much, right? You are BRILLIANT!!! 🤗
I use a mixture ( my own) of jojoba, argon, olive, avocado, 3 diff EOs, glycerin and cyclomethicone ( lol can't spell it, but it's the silicone liquid that is in your face primes that blurs pores). I mix all this in a small squeeze bottle. The glycerin gives you tackiness that helps your foundation stay longer and its a humectant therefor is draws moisture to dry skin. This is all just one very thin layer of one product under foundation and concealer. I make most of all my beauty products. Bar of soaps, liquid soap, face soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, bath bombs.......... I plan on making a video on how I make my moisturizing oil/primer on my video soon. If anyone is interested. It's very very say. All products can be found in your local drugstore except the cyclomethicone wich can be bought online. It can be worn with or without makeup. You will have a natural glow without the oiliness. The cyclomethicone does NOT clog pores. It seals in the moisture with a protective barrier. Only time you will breakout is if your skin is not clean and then bacteria is trapped in the pores by that protective barrier. Again... It doesn't clog or cause breakouts if skin is clean before... I was a cosmologist for almost 30 years and a product formulator for over 5 years.
Btw, a eye cream is not at all needed if your using a good face moisturizer. Eye cream ( inactive ) is just another way stores can sell you another product! Active eye creams such as vit c, caffeine, ..... Should never be worn under makeup. These eye creams are for night time and or days you don't wear makeup. They will mess with the makeups application and performance.
great idea putting the setting spray on the make up brush so clever...learning its all about the learning! Under eyes are the bane of my life getting a concealers that isn't drying and actually highlights or hides dark circles THAT STRGGLE IS REALLLLLLL XXX
Love your channel and your makeup tips. But let's be real here. Wrinkles suck in everything. Doesn't matter how you apply that concealer, it's going into the creases. Wrinkles are there to stay. Anything applied over them will go INTO them. Sad truth. The hydrating is key, but that concealer will make its way into the wrinkles for sure. Also, powder isn't our friend in our 50's. When powder goes on top of the concealer ....on aging eyes....well that makes them look even cakier. Just my opinion, but I feel also the truth. You aren't in your 50's yet. I didn't have any eye problems until I turned 53! It's a whole new game now ...😉j
It looks so flawless on you. Thanks for the tips! It’s so nice to see a makeup artist with thinner eyebrows and not such thick eyebrows. Your beautiful.
Great ideas on the setting spray on the brush! This video now explains to me why I do prefer the "drier" concealers...my age, lol. Holding on to this video for future reference. Btw, I love your fun hair color here, too bad I missed it, being a new fan since 2018 :-)
It certainly helps when you have no bags, dark circles or wrinkles under your eyes to worry about! One light application of concealer does not even come close to covering my dark circles, and even using a color corrector underneath with a concealer layered over it, the purple dark circles seep through. Top that off with the fact I'm 46 with fine lines and wrinkles and crepeyness under the eyes and you have a nightmare situation that cannot be covered and only looks twice as old when adding concealer and powder. Ugh, I think my only hope is laser resurfacing or something. Nothing helps me. But maybe if I use my UD setting spray on a brush or sponge when applying the concealer as you did in this demo, I at least won't have to add setting powder which even the lightest amount makes me look much older. I will try this trick thank you, but you are blessed as you have no hereditary bags, dark circles, or wrinkles under your eyes!
Cozette M I get it, I got a laser treatment called fraxel on the under eye area about 8 years ago and it made such a difference! (I’m 48). I use like 2 eye creams and my under eye area is actually..pretty good now.
True. She doesn't appear to have much to cover. I'd see a cosmetic dermatologist. Ain't nobody got time for all that work and frustration you are going through. Best wishes. Let us know how it works out!
I want to thank you so much. I'm not a spring chicken and have tried just about every trick out there. I have bags and wrinkles and tried your method and all I can say is WOW!! Thank you very much
Elle- Hopefully you will see this comment since it is an older video. I find your videos the most informative and helpful videos. I have learned so much and still am as I'm finding more of your older videos. I really struggle with creasing when it comes to applying concealers. Would you do this method the same way when using a color corrector? What color corrector do you think works best for dark circles? Also, do you think it's ok to use the same brush for applying the color corrector and the concealer? Are you still using the same oil as you did in the video? Thank you so much and I really appreciate your help!
Peach to even the skin tone of darkness (bluish purplish) under the eye. Urban decay has pink for very fair skin tone, light peach for fair to light medium and deep for darker. I have olive skin and I get the deep color and mix it in with my Mac yellow based concealer to make a dark peach color to correct. Then the concealer on its own over that. Total color correction! Hope this helps
Beautiful results Elle, as always. I've totally revamped my approach with concealer app. Goal is to achieve the brightness you strive for as well. It's working!
What a great idea!! I've tried spraying setting sprays on my beauty blender AFTER applying my concealer and patting over it... Which works pretty good😊 I have to watch how close to my eye I get because of my eyes watering and then I end up crying all my hard work off🙄😳 but... I'm DEFINITELY going to try this one today!! Now, my creasing usually starts after I start smiling, talking, ya know... All those basic facial expressions... Are there any recommendations you have as to keeping the area crease free throughout the day?? Will I have to carry all these products with me to do touchups? Oh and btw... I LOVE that pink in your hair!! I know this video is from like 2016... But... Still love it😉😁❤
This is old I know hopefully you will answer, did you really say olive oil? or a makeup olive oil. I have major money issues. I live on disability in CDA. I fractured my neck n part of my back . I’m 42 now. If you could recommend affordable drug store makeup, I truly can’t afford high end products including skin care. Thanx Elle I do watch n subscribe to your channel. Xoxo
The oil doesn’t break down the concealer?? Another Q, can this technique be done without foundation on the face, just a powder (such as Mac mineralize?)
I think the trick is to use the kind of oil she suggested, that will seep into the skin without leaving a greasy residue. There are a lot of this kinds in the market these days, specially if they're for the face.
Thank you for this video. I tried this with my Lancome setting spray and not only did it help with creasing, it reduced the bags under my eyes. 2 for 1. love this. Thanks for sharing.
Great vid, thank you. I never wore much make up, but getting older I need it lol. Im just learning now about make up. What is your opinion on Orange correcter for dark circles? Im so confused lol Orange, light, ?? xxx
I learned this magic trick from. Wayne, but his focus wasn't on the eyes..dipping your beauty blender, damp,in a tiny pool of setting spray, mixed with your foundation, will set your face like a mannequin. SPECTACULAR. I just now tried this with the focus on my eyes with your magic trick..and a brush. SHiTE!!. It works young lady😄😅😘🤩🤗. I was about to switch out shape tape. Now I dont have to.thank you..excelente.
What you look just beautiful. I'm definitely going to try the Nars sneezed and setting spray on my sponge for blending. But you don't have any dark circles why are you using concealer? You're not putting it even where you put concealer for dark circles or creasing
I was super pumped when I came across this video last night! I tried it today, step by step, with the video playing, pausing when needed. This did NOTHING for me 💔😭 I tried it today with different concealers but my end result was the same. Any tips on what I may be doing wrong?!?!
How the heck did I miss the upload of this video??? Anyway it's great! I have a question.... what can I use in the under eye area because any type of powder makes it look dry? Should I do like the video & just skip the powder? Seems like it might work.
Oh, to run away with the concealer 😅😅😅 . Got to do the setting spray technique. Kinda makes sense but who would have thought (Elle of course). Thank you Elle xxx xxx
I cant wait to try this today!!! I'm only 36 and my fine lines are taking over lol. Question though..my inner corners are very dry and bluish toned. Would this work or is there something I can use to fix that? Ps I love your skin!!! 😊😊
Elle, thanks so much for your video, I used your technique using olive oil, and I could not believe. My undereye concealer lasted ALL day until bedtime, so we are talking about a good 12 hours. I applied the olive oil under my eye, waited a couple minutes, then patted under my eye with a tissue just to remove any excess. I did apply a creamy style concealer (which was all I had on hand), sprayed my brush with Urban Decay All nighter make up setting spray, applied the concealer, and set with Laura Mercier powder (just a touch). I can not thank you enough.
Ok, so i have my under eyes done like you have shown. Then my shadow falls and my liner smudges on my under eye. I try to clean it up and i remove all the concealer! Help! Ambee
OMG, this is the most amazing suggestion EVER ... never thought to add oil to avoid creasing , but it works. I did use marula oil thou. (that is what i had at home and The Ordinary got such amazing cheap oils)
Im bummed cuz there r too many steps for me- oil, eye primer, concealer w setting spray then powder :( I heard Bobbi Brown concealer does not crease, if true then one step and you're done!!
I cannot wait to try this! You just give the best advice; everything that applies to me (I’m old as dirt) that you teach, I have tried, and I am like a different person. I had to try a few times on some tips, but I got the hang of it, and I’m happy. Thank you so much! ✨💖✨
Even though you solved my problems with the eye creams you recommended and I can now wear concealer, I think I'll try this tomorrow and see if it ups my concealer game! I love a bright eye!! Elle you are such a big help! Thank you (truly) ~Lori
love your technique. i will try out. But the primer it doesn't work under my eyes. i try that one day with the primer potion. The oil look really good for the undereye, i will try out 😄 xo
The absolute best anti-caressing concealer application I have seen! Not to mention you have the most beautiful skin as a canvas. Thanks for the tutorial! 💖
oh. my. god. I think this tutorial cured my under eye creases!!!! I usually never comment on RUclips, but I just wanted to thank you sooooooo much for sharing your amazing tips!!! Although, when I set the consealer with loose setting powder it gives too much of a powdery finish. I have to set mine because of my job. Maybe I'm using too much powder? Or not enough setting spray?
This tips are awesome. I do use a specific under eye primer (from Makeup Revolution), that I layer over an eye cream I placed in the morning. I do add the tiniest amount of oil directly to the dry concealer (Tarte Shape), then dab it. I never tried the setting spray trick yet. But these techniques with the oil are definitely the way to go if you have dry under eye and want your setting powder to do the trick without making the skin look dry or wrinkled and more old.
Thank you for doing such a great video! I am going to try this technique! I heard Wayne Goss say he really like that setting spray your using. Right now, I have the Nyx brand in matte and a small Urban decay All Nighter. I also bought some "Line Smoother + Primer from Amazing Cosmetics. I am not sure if this product is good or not, so I will try with your technique and play around. As of yet, my under eyes have been looking pretty wrinkly!
dawn rhinehardt I am so sorry but I can't remember lol this is before I started putting breakdowns in the description. But I am making sure I am doing it xoxo
This has been very helpful. I am 55 and recently bought some Bobbie Brown corrector and concealer. I am so disappointed with it as it creases a lot. I feel it is very grease. I drier product should work for me better. I just wished I had known this before. Thank you, Elle 😘
Elle, I just "found" you and love your videos. I have always struggled with under eye issues and must have tried every concealer on the market! I will have to try the setting spray trick- what a great idea. I have also watched how to conceal your eye bags video and will put to practice your technique. Being almost 58, I need every trick I can find!!! I wear glasses to read, and find that when I put them on, every little line, crease and under eye wrinkle is magnified. Is there a different application process if you wear glasses??
Elle - I just stumbled upon your channel via this video. I loved it and thought you had some really original ideas and techniques. I am impressed and have subscribed! Yay!!! Plus - I love your hair and your radiant smile!
So glad I found your channel!!! This was literally the fix I needed! Works so well! I have been struggling with dry undereyes and concealer making it look worse! Thanks for sharing your knowledge 🙌😘💕
Luv your channel. .you have beautiful din and a swert heart....would luv u to make up my face!. Do you only work for celebrities? your advice is priceless*!!
i am going to have to try the setting spray before the concealer part! i have and love the Tarte maricuja concealer, it is really thick though but it still creases even when i use my finger to tap it into place. but the brush may be the wrong one and i need to try the setting spray trick. thanks!
What would be the better drugstore concealer options to use with this technique? Also I have a hard time setting my concealer even the smallest amount makes me look like a prune under my eyes
I have watched a million of these videos on how to avoid under eye creasing and this one was by far the most helpful! I can't wait to try these techniques, thanks so much! 😁
Great video. I've been adding the oil. And it seems to help. But love the setting spray idea. Thank you. Could you recommend a under eye primer? For 70 ish skin. Please????
@@ElleLearyArtistry Thanks again! After watching your videos, plus a few others, and practicing, I've been getting compliments from friends, and my boyfriend. Loving it! Thank you for what you do! 💕
Charlene clingan you and me both girl!! Hope this helps. Also watch my video where I show you up to make your makeup last all day because there are some other good tips in there too for that area Zoo
Great tips, I just tried the complete technique this morning, by lunch time my concealer was perfect, I always had to retouched my makeup at that time, not anymore, yay!! thanks Elle!!

yes!! thank you so much for the kind words xo
Excellent video! I see a lot of people uses a beauty sponge instead of a brush. Which one is better? Thxs!
depends on how your skin reacts with each tool, try each way

You could come up with a recipe for lthinnong reg makeup for airbrush machine,I bet and get a million likes
Yay, maybe my undereye makeup game won't be tragic anymore :D

Best tutorial for under eye concealer I have seen yet. I can not wait to try this out. Thank you!🤗
So happy I found your channel! If only because you don't show off so much, but get into what we are really wanting to know!

Cozette M I’ve gotten under eye filler and it was a miracle but $450 a pop.
I want to thank you so much. I'm not a spring chicken and have tried just about every trick out there. I have bags and wrinkles and tried your method and all I can say is WOW!! Thank you very much

thank you so much for being here!! oxox
Elle, thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly. I will definitely try that primer. Your so kind.
Linda Curce which primer?
the "setting component" in setting spray is comprised of alcohol. Do you really recommend using alcohol under the eye area?
There are alcohol free setting sprays u just gotta check ingredients.

People who work don't have two hours to wait between applying their under eye moisturizer and the dry oil. How much time is needed between the two?
I would say 5 min
Thanks , that's terrific idea. I can't wait to try it. Love ❤️ your videos.
Seriously one of the best explained guides I've ever seen. Thank you! I'm going to follow this to a 'T'. :)
Your amazing you have helped me so much great tips.x

It is so priceless recommends! An amazing ideas on the setting spray on the brush!

Great vid, thank you. I never wore much make up, but getting older I need it lol. Im just learning now about make up. What is your opinion on Orange correcter for dark circles? Im so confused lol Orange, light, ?? xxx

Many people say to apply concealer on the inner corner of t he eye along the bridge of the nose, how would you do that is this necessary?
You don't need any makeup! beautiful!
thank you so much!!
Loved this, so helpful!!!
I'm gonna try this bc my concealer always looks so gross. I am not hopeful bc you have plump smooth undereye to start with and I dont
hope it helps!!! thanks love xo
You are an awesome makeup artist!!!!
I learned this magic trick from. Allyson Sixx I would actually try both. Try no powder and then try a baked powder. I love doing both xo 😘
Oh, to run away with the concealer 😅😅😅 . Got to do the setting spray technique. Kinda makes sense but who would have thought (Elle of course). Thank you Elle xxx xxx

Pam Androski Is there a video on this? I haven't seen this?
Amy, no, no video, I watch youtube videos and see what I have on hand, try their technics to see if it works for me. Thanks for asking.
Pam Androski thanks for responding! 😊 did you use the eye primer or just the olive oil?
I used both, and the primer I used was the cheap ELF shadow lock eyelid primer.
Where are the products you used please?
Ok, so i have my under eyes done like you have shown. Then my shadow falls and my liner smudges on my under eye. I try to clean it up and i remove all the concealer! Help! Ambee

Love this! What colors are you using on your eyes?
Hi Ellelearyartistry I am new to your channel I love this idea going to try this tomorrow!!!
Amy West use a luminous undereye powder
Emilie S Which powder is that
where does sunscreen come ? why doesnt any you tuber do tutorial with a physical sunscreen...thats a real hassle
hi elle ammmazing video...as usual😍
does this work with one more layer which is the corrector underneath? or would it crease then
Fractionated coconut oil is lighter than coconut and olive. You can buy it at Walmart over in the oils.
How often on full face?
I love your hair!
I’m going to try this tonight and get back to you
Unfortunately this did not work for me :-( still settled into my fine lines and creased
Did I miss something? Are the products u used listed anywhere?
Very nice! I guess I need some eye primer and setting spray. (Sigh.)
As of yet, my under eyes have been looking pretty wrinkly!
you are so welcome!!! Let me know how it goes xo
What eyeshadow(s) are you wearing in this?
dawn rhinehardt I am so sorry but I can't remember lol this is before I started putting breakdowns in the description. But I am making sure I am doing it xoxo
This has been very helpful. I am 55 and recently bought some Bobbie Brown corrector and concealer. I am so disappointed with it as it creases a lot. I feel it is very grease. I drier product should work for me better. I just wished I had known this before. Thank you, Elle 😘
you and me both! I go for drier products to xo
Thank you
Elle, I just "found" you and love your videos.
Pat chadwick I just found her too last week. Love her & have enjoyed all her vids. :)

Great video. I've been adding the oil. And it seems to help. But love the setting spray idea. Thank you. Could you recommend a under eye primer? For 70 ish skin. Please????
