Yeah no one would believe that
Definitely not in developed countries.
I believe it isn’t absurdly common these days, but I think it happened quite a lot in the medieval-renaissance eras.
Matt T many hundred years ago in some Nordic countries, people who lost consciousness because of the cold were often thought to be dead and if they woke up again they’d be killed because “AAHH ZOMBIE”
Imagine how many lives were lost because of this
It’s actually happened before there was this old guy who they thought he died and he was up buried alive but he died later tho
Imagine actually being buried alive with your phone and watching this

Me
In 1915, a 30-year-old South Carolinian named Essie Dunbar suffered a fatal attack of epilepsy-or so everyone thought. After declaring her dead, doctors placed Dunbar’s body in a coffin and scheduled her funeral for the next day so that her sister, who lived out of town, would still be able to pay respects. But Dunbar's sister didn't travel fast enough; she arrived only to see the last clods of dirt thrown atop the grave. This didn’t sit well with Dunbar’s sister, who wanted to see Essie one last time. She ordered that the body be removed. When the coffin lid was opened, Essie sat up and smiled at all around her. She lived for another 47 years.
I’m guessing the coffin was left open for viewing until after the funeral. Or, if this is a true story, it was a pretty flimsy box that let enough air inside till she was buried.
I don’t know about statistics but graves like this were often found when the deceased was exhumed and re-buried when a section of a cemetery was relocated.
@@danielscuiry2847 Weren't old school coffins essentially made of plywood?
She was braver than most people. I would've jumped out of that coffin and ran as far away as possible.
Is this fake?
Seriously, it’s not Nice to lie to the world. Or RUclips.
I work in a cemetery, and I can tell you that you don’t stand a chance. Caskets are often metal clad, and placed inside a concrete vault so that the ground above doesn’t collapse when the casket degrades. That vault has a lid that is lowered into place with a crane, you aren’t moving it. That said, burials usually happen over a week after death, so if you haven’t woken up by then, you weren’t going to anyway.
Wrong, Burials happen within 3-5 days. That's Federal Law
I thought the vaults were only when you're below sea level incase of a flood.
@@coldtimber4972 nope, vaults are actually necessary in all cases. At the cemetery where I work you can tell exactly which graves don’t have vaults because they have a deep depression exactly the size and shape of the casket.
@@Shaun_Jones Huh, I stand corrected.
You could be in a coma so it's possible you might gain consciousness for a month.
I’m not even claustrophobic but this video is stressing me out

@@DjKDM7000 that would be tragic😂
How will you see it though. It will be complete darkness in the coffin
Or at least hook up an Air Pump to all the coffins less than 6 years old. And keep the bell.
I would run a telephone cable into the coffin and have a small telephone so I could call for help. Maybe a light, too, so I can see the buttons. An oxygen tank might be useful, too, to refresh the atmosphere as I wait for help after I call. You need to think about these things if you are going to be buried.
To be clear: your phone will/can use any carrier's network to place emergency calls regardless of sim card in it (not even need to have any).
Imagine being at graveyard alone and hearing someone knocking....
There's case where someone got buried alive screaming, makes someone realize that's someone alive, i think this is more effective

This is one of my biggest fears because I'm extremely claustrophobic. My siblings and I got stuck in a room, i just knew I was going to die than 😪🤦🏽♀️😂
This was the most traumatic event I ever lived through. I was fortunate because when the structure cracked, someone had already noticed sounds. When the ground sank a bit, they suddenly realized I was trying to get out. They ran and got help. After a few minutes my hand met theirs. I was only halfway out, but I knew there was hope. My legs were hurting painfully but I had to keep wiggling. They got my arms loose and my head started to break the surface. I felt a sense of relief. I was going to live. They tried pulling me by the arms but my legs were still trapped. They pulled hard enough one of my shoulders became dislocated. I didn't even realize it because the pain and exhaustion I felt. It was probably the adrenaline. Everyone kept digging until finally the got down enough to help untrap my legs. I ended up losing one of my legs, but I survives. Through all this, I blacked out. When I awoke in the hospital, I looked down at my legs and they were both there. Confused, I asked the attendant what was going on. They told me my surgery went successfully and I would be going home soon. I said, you were able to save my leg? She said, your leg? We were just removing your wisdom teeth. You see, my leg was never in trouble. I was just pulling yours.

As a kid we used to fold each other up in my friends couch bed and once they couldn’t get me out. I was stuck in it for what felt like an hour (it was probably 5 mins), we also used to crawl through drainage pipes looking for big open areas like the ninja turtles had, 😆. I felt a car drive over me one day as it came down the alley and it pressed the pipe, I could feel it squeezing….. I was done, never again in a tight space.
