Get ready to jump on your laptop and get the most out of rekordbox with international Dirty Dutchman Chuckie as he reveals his essential rekordbox tips and tricks.
Organise your music, set up Hot-Cue Banks and find out which are the best SD cards as well as setting up playlists ahead of your gig.
A few years ago, I was djing in a club (it wasn't the biggest one here in Lima but it had a pretty decent PA system) and the second I dropped an 128kbps mp3 (the reward is cheese from deadmau5), the manager noticed and asked me to change it asap, the people on the dancefloor didn't notice it, but since it was one of my first gigs, he told me to never do it again and only play 320kbps files, best advise ever. I think its way more proffesional to do it, no matter if other djs don't.
Thanks chuckie you are the best. You are not selfish like others. Your help a lot with this tutorial. We hope to see you in NYC soon.
nice, i did not know you could make hot cue's with the 1,2,3 buttons
If u export Hot Cues for SD card, u can "call" them on CDJs. like Chuckie said better use SD card instead of Pendrive cause even CDJ 1000 supports SD cards. Hope my tip is usefull
I am loving the That Baltimore has it's own Music Genre at 2:44
Thanks for this tutorial sir.
Between 128k and 320k MP3 file i hear a big diference in sound quality, but between 320k mp3 and wav dont. But i understood your explanation :)
Cdjs** also didn't mention the well you can sort through your tracks in the collection area nor did he mention the
Well done vid keep'em comin'.
I spoke to a DJ about this and he told me this:
320k works great for a crowd up to 2000 (he used crowd so I could get the picture)
But if you wanne play big gigs like an arena then u have to use WAV.
But then again, this is 6-8 years ago and both soundsystems and digital media has changed so I'm not sure :)
Give me an exaple why he would need to export the hot cues to his SD cards? like how would he use it in a set for example?
thank you
Usually it's because you are in front of monitors. On a well built system, you will hear and feel the difference between a 128k or even 320k MP3 and lossless and WAV and vinyl tracks.
Low quality MP3 with lose top end sibilance, bass frequencies and for extremely low bitrate, you will lose the details in the mid range.
If you can tell the difference in your headphones, you can bet it sounds ten times worse coming out of the PA ten times louder.
Because these days in general the cover charges to get in clubs are a lot higher, drink prices are a lot higher along with the tips, so the last thing people should be concerned about is if the music is going to be good. If a person spends a lot of money on cover charges and drinks and then they make it to the dancefloor and the music is bad or the quality of the music is bad, then the whole night is ruined.
u can detect sound diference when u play it in clubs?
Personally i dont...
thanks voor de tips Chuck zoals ik ook altijd zeg voorbereiding is het halve werk
like another guy said, beatport, juno, djdownload for example, all the tracks must be mp3 320kbps, if you get lower than 320 kbps never (NEVER) use that track on a club or on a serious PA system, people will notice it and the manager / owner of the club will notice it and they will never contact you again. lower files can be used in your mp3 player, in your car, house, etc.
hey chuckie you ever sell hard drive list wish i could have that much music
You the Man Chuckie :)
and how about the mixing part? :P
Hey guys what kind of setup should I have to become a club DJ?? Mixer or a controller?
so they still have the free version? and is it pretty much the same as the paid version? or whats the big difference?
rekordbox is free..... but if you want to have the DJ software rekordbox you must pay 150 dollars or something
We lose valuable time preparing hot-cues on the fly, while DJing. Rekordbox let's us prepare them at home and that is a real life saver!
i make sure my tracks have the dynamics i desire before i play them out.
He did'nt touch how well the program interfaces with the CDMA
oh what I would do for that music!
CAN rekordbox show the CAMELOT KEYS in the display ??? its just very handy to have when creating a set ..
Agree!
No it can in Rekordbox 5
huh? he mentioned all features. what did he miss?
for non-musicians and non-djs/producers, hearing the difference between audio formats is incredibly difficult. you'd be too distracted from dancing that you wouldn't be able to hear it, you'd have to be listening reeaally carefully.
What kind of SD cards will work for the CDJ 2000 nexus models?
Jeff Banks You should use USB works a lot easier
Guys how do you export a playlist in rekordbox as a simple text file? i do not want it as a xml file.
If a guy on your floor can tell you what bit rate your music was encoded at, that means he has good ears and wants the music to be the best quality possible which makes a lot of sense. If you cop an attitude because people are smarter these days about music quality and want to give you helpful advice and you're not open to criticism or general advice, then you need to be replaced.
8 + memory cues you can set there's a few other thing I'm not going to get in to
cut the damn lows on the mic
I use rekordbox
People send them free tracks all the time (usually 320s)
*** There's really so much more you can do with it. He barley scratches the surface. But i think he says how much it helps his performances a ill too much useful info coulda been added instead
rekorbox is good but its soooo slow to export to usb :/
+stefaan eguavoen Yea what's up with that?
+stefaan eguavoen it's all about the USB stick you're using. Buy the fastest USB3 drive that you can afford, I use a SanDisk this one, it's super fast!
www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-Transfer-Speeds-SDCZ80-064G-GAM46/dp/B00KT7DOSE?psc=1&SubscriptionId=AKIAJM4NKIQGABP2PIRA&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B00KT7DOSE&tag=thewire06-20&ascsubtag=WC22185
I upgraded my RAM and installed an SSD and it's blazing fast now. Seriously takes a 1/10 of the time
Its standard for DJ's... ;)
It's probably those DJs that are going deaf in their ears for not protecting them so well. I actually heard someone say don't let a DJ test listen your mastered tracks because their ears are so bad from all the clubbing setups they get exposed to LOL
I wonder how many of those were torrented.
i just stick it into my macbook, into my lap top , i just stick it into my laptop 7:06
I Use THis Soft!!
sweet
Chuckie ☺☺😀😁😂
There's really so much mor u can do with he he barley men
There problem i have with this it's that the MAIN goal of a Dj is to actually know your songs and to mix to with what...zero credibility dude, i'm into this world for almost 20 years and i still know all my tracks! No need for a software ;)
thats not that much?
24 bit wav
empty threes are toys
Please check out my new House track called ''City at Night''. It's full HD!
4:33... always fools me
wtf 20000 songs?
thanks to rapidshare
fuck yeah! :D
Damsko hahaha
ok , ill go replace myself. :)
99% of your club goers, managers, and promoters couldn't tell you anything about the quality if the sound coming from the speakers! I've see 1000 DJs play horribly in coded music in the clubs and they still have jobs.
that guy is 1 in a million , and your mp3 was probably encoded by a crap encoder.
and if they are listening to your music for mistakes to that degree, it's probably a place none of us want to spin. And thats just REAL TALK. If a guy on my floor can tell me what bit rate my shit i encoded at, he probably shouldn't be on the dance floor.
i have 65000 and only play like 200 in one night
DJ BEATBREAKER
Sure he may have 20,000 songs, but I bet all of them are not Bangers! You gotta get rid of the garbage
