  • Almost every dentist thinks that they need an experienced dental receptionist to book more new patients. Actually, this is a misconception, what they need is not dental experience but instead great customer service experience.
In 2022, the average experienced dental receptionist booked only 33.8% of new patient calls into appointments. This means that for three new patients calling only one patient will actually book the appointment.
In this video, you will learn how you can find the best dental receptionists, the kind of people that you need working in your practice if you want to double or triple your production.

Because they actually do have to have a decent knowledge of how insurance works and how to put in the codes, and that’s not easy to teach someone with no knowledge. Otherwise you’re suggesting having someone JUST to answer calls, and someone to do everything else which is not practical unless it’s a very very big practice.

I understand what you're saying, there is more to being a receptionist than just answering the phone. However, you can teach someone how insurance in dental works but you can't teach someone how to be a friendly, warm, and positive person. Even if they can ONLY answer the phone that is still valuable and will drive a lot more new patients if they know how to do it well, and new patients are the lifeblood of the practice. Over the following weeks and months they will obviously learn how to do more. This isn’t my “theory” I'm simply sharing what our most successful clients do. The average practices are always searching for unicorn employees. The successful practices find ways to create them.
