  • Hiring the RIGHT dental receptionist can be daunting. You need to know WHAT to look for and what to steer AWAY from for success. Start with re-thinking the dental receptionist position itself - what you are really looking for is an ambassador for your practice. The first point of contact that has the responsibility of bringing New Patients through your doors via the phone. Customer service training or previous experience will be valuable, as will great phone skills and a sociable personality. To find a great receptionist, you need to find a great person! The dental terminology, insurance codes, etc can all be taught. The way someone is with people...start with a rockstar there and you are golden!

I’ve found dental receptionist’s are much friendlier than medical receptionist’s. Better training maybe? Don’t know 😐

For me, personality and willingness to learn are everything! Skills can be trained. We routinely hire receptionists with no dental experience at all and they tend to do amazingly well if they have the right attitude. I think your chances are great!!!
