This new hack is really handy as it adds an easy cooking dimension to your Stanley Two Cup Cook Set. Thanks for watching and please leave me a comment in the section below! Also, beware of scammers. I'm not currently running any contests.
To be honest, the hack is great 👍but you didn't show us how it all packs like you usually do.. maybe on the next hack video you can include packing for this hack also.. ?? As always, great job.. simper-fi
When I saw that pickle jar, I thought ole James has lost his mind… This epic little bit of whizgiggerry may be one of my favorite bushcraft hacks ever. The fork as a handle seems almost too simple to work, yet it is more than adequate. It seems excellent to the point of bushcraft elegance.
Your so amazing at using next to nothing. I'm so happy i found your channel. As a scrapper or recycling man. I have made many meals from nothing but tools and trash. Not the food. LOL TY @WayPoint Survival
That was just amazing.... I can't imagine how much research goes in before coming up with such a combo! Just the fork and lid for a pan made me think of cooking an entire 5 course meal for 1 while camping! To be real, I'll probably just use that pan trick to save time on the smaller things, but what a time saver when you can afford to carry more than 1 pan!
If you can find that particular lid, this is an excellent "hack" for the Stanley cook set. As far as the lid is concerned for cooking and making it nonstick, I've had great success with carbon steel pans and cast iron doing what you did to the lid to rid it of the paint/seal (heating the metal and adding oil to create a natural nonstick coating). I guess I'm going to Jimmy Johns or some other place that uses these large jars with lids so I can get what I need. I saw the fork mod and thought that if you took enough time, you could bend those tines of the fork w/o the torch, but who has that kind of time? Break out the ol' Benzomatic butane flamer and go to town!! Why wait???? LOL!! (forgive the humor....it seemed to lend itself to the human flaw of impatience) Thank you, Mr. Bender, for another efficient and practical modification for a Stanley product. Keep up the good work. I look forward to your next installment of the Ohio wilderness homestead series.
I’m new here and I’m laughing like crazy. Simple and smart. Hitting second hand store tomorrow. Bent fork hand , errr. Should have thought of that😂 thank you. Very useful and fun.
that is the cutest little working frying pan set up in have ever seen! What I have learned so far from your videos is just how much of an abundance we have, yet I have been blind to seeing how to use it. having a basic understanding of some foundational principles, it really opens up a world of possibilities! there are so many fancy gadgets and bits and bobs, but these things we have often overlooked can just as easily be used in place of those fancier ones. of course everything has a place and time, but it is comforting to know there are other options. also, you sort of remind me of MacGyver the way you are actualy able to make something life saving out of what just looks like trash and your multi tool. thank you for sharing your talents and creativity.
Thank you 👍. Another great idea! 😊 (Stanley PMI really should reach out to you as a consultant / advisor, truly. They should consider manufacturing some of your hacks, with nice royalty checks for you.)
Nice little hack. I have a Stanley cook set, but I only use it for boiling water, or cooking noodles. but it's nice to know I could do that. couple more tools for my tool shed.
The Stanley company needs to hire you, or at least give you a nice commission. I guarantee your videos have boosted the sales of their 2 cup cook set more than anything they could ever come up with. 👍🏼👍🏼
Worst cook set ever. Good for coffee, bad for food. You have to stir constantly or it burns the bottom while not cooking the top. It's just too narrow for food.
I made two of these a few weeks ago after watching this video. One with the 2 inner tines bent and one with outer tines bent. On this one I spread the inner tines out a little and I think it works better. I use one of those candle lids, I get a handful every time we visit some friends in NC. Thanks for sharing.
Almost feel like that was made just for me James because I told you that mine didn't come with a lid like yours did. That was a pretty awesome hack. I really did like that and the way you bent that fork I know what you mean about having to heat it a little because I used to bend them and make belt buckles out of them. But on to the hack that was wonderful I really enjoyed that. I know that wasn't meant directly towards me but I do appreciate it I'm sure there's other people that didn't get theirs although I did buy mine brand new. Thanks again James and have a great day stay safe and keep your powder dry!
Bloody Amazing idea there, mate. I bought my first Stanley Cook Set thanks to you & then during lock down had the chance to build some of those add-ons. But I like the idea of the mini fry pans. I used to travel alot for work so the idea of a quick brew & a feed are perfect for my needs. I have the butane stoves, but for a quick pitstop your set up would be ideal. Thanks.
James ,,, Your the Man,,,!!!! I hope that Stanly has given you the Recognition that you are due. I bought a extra stanly 2 cup , because I like the green cups,,,!!! But Iam definitely going to implement your hacks,,, amazing creativity and research,,, Blessings to You and Your family,,,, Joshua
Awesome tips and props to using empty 5hr energy containers for carrying oil. They're great for everything from syrup, cooking oil, Alcohol fuel, dishwashing soap, camp soap/shampoo etc.
Thanks James for another brilliant idea about bending the fork. What do you think about bending the outer 2 prongs instead to make the grip wider and more steady? The inner forks can be flayed outwards to still grab the food. It may look like an alien contraption but I thought it might work better.
It wouldn't work as well because the curve is a little too extreme to fit the outer tines well. It could probably be made to work Iif you want a to fiddle with it.
I been using this one for years but mine is a bit smaller and will fit on top of green cup. You sir have as much fun if not more than I do hacking and tweaking them.
Another great and ORIGINAL piece of content. You excel at this. You're the Felix Immler of the Stanley Two Cup Cook Set and that is high praise from me. Fabulous video!
This new version of the frying pan is worth having even if you've got a factory lid. (And, bonus, it'll also travel on a stainless steel cup, so now you can carry coffee fixings inside.)
I love these Nifty little projects. I would certainly keep the original lid but it's nice to know that you could make a substitute if you lose or damage the original lid. Now of course if the crap hit the fan or if you're just going for an overnight or you could grab a fry pan from the kitchen but it's preferable to have something small and light like you created when you're carrying everything in a backpack.
Owe bless you so much. I swear your went down grocery store Ile measuring lids.😊 I'm putting together emergency tins now for my family thank you for all the cool stuff and ideas. ❤
James that was very cool my man. I buy pickles by the big jars like that sometimes so the next time I will definitely save the lid and try it out!! Yes about the scammers, I had someone posing as you and I just ignored it, it's a shame that people do stuff like that. But anyway keep up the great content buddy!!! I'm excited about the next Stanley hack😁😁😁
Great tip. I was looking for a lid for my $5 Walmart stainless steel cup, went to Lowe's and found a new empty one quart paint can for $3, and the lid fits perfectly.
you know looking at the fork part, maybe bend the outer tines instead of the center ones, it may make a better option for eating with it without messing up the stability!

Or is there another way to store the fork with the cook set so the tine aren't poking into other gear? One solution I could see would be using a short piece of clear vinyl tubing bent to slide onto each tine. I would think a flat stamped fork flattened would be the easiest. Thanks for another great video.
Needed a lid for my Wal Mart camp cup. For a $5 half gallon of pickles I got a new lid AND some pretty good pickles while saving $ as compared to purchasing a cup lid. Ya, I like 👍 it! Thanks for the great hacks.
Very cool! I wonder if it can actually go on over top of the regular lid... I like mine, but love the idea of a sturdy little frying pan that doesn't really take up any extra room. Must experiment! Thanks for the video and the idea!
@@WayPointSurvival I'll mess around once I get one of the big lids and follow-up if I'm able to make it work. If need be, maybe the lid can be peened out a little bit, and it can be a tiny wok 😂
How appropriate. I am exactly the reason for this video. I bought a Stanley Cook set ½ off because it had no lid. I've just been using a old soup can lid wrapped in tinfoil.
This new hack is really handy as it adds an easy cooking dimension to your Stanley Two Cup Cook Set. Thanks for watching and please leave me a comment in the section below! Also, beware of scammers. I'm not currently running any contests.
You are an innovator of the highest caliber James.

How well does the handle close with the pickle lid? Does the lip interfere?
It doesn't close as well as it does with the original. However it's passable.
@@WayPointSurvival thanks for the reply and the awesome hack. Keep em coming!
Just when I think that there are no more hacks for the Stanley cup, You come out with another one. Well done.

Pickle lid frying pan looks small enough to use over an alcohol stove as well. Maybe over a Trangia with a simmer ring.
Yes, I believe it would work well for that also!
Good job

Great tip. I was looking for a lid for my $5 Walmart stainless steel cup, went to Lowe's and found a new empty one quart paint can for $3, and the lid fits perfectly.
That's an excellent tip to know! I might actually use that at some point.
@@WayPointSurvival I drilled two 1/4" holes in the center and threaded a keyring threw them for a handle. Go for it.
Well done James.
Thanks!
you know looking at the fork part, maybe bend the outer tines instead of the center ones, it may make a better option for eating with it without messing up the stability!
It might make a better option for eating, however, it is too narrow to be stable on the bottom that way and too wide to fit the curve at the top.
I can not believe the things you come up with. I'm thinkin that if you had been working with space X from the beginning that there would already be a colony on Mars !! 😉😉 Please keep after it your content is amazing 👍👍👍
Thank you so much for the kind words and for watching the video!
Is there room between the cups and the cook pot for the fork to fit if it was bent to match the contours of the pot? Or is there another way to store the fork with the cook set so the tine aren't poking into other gear? One solution I could see would be using a short piece of clear vinyl tubing bent to slide onto each tine. I would think a flat stamped fork flattened would be the easiest.
Thanks for another great video.
