I'm building my 2 Cup Cook kit, based on all of your Stanley cook kit hacks! I've got most of it built already, just have to add this new one, which is simple but brilliant by the way! Keep them coming....
Thank you, glad you're enjoying them!
OutFreakingStanding! Bender! 🤜🤛
Thank you!
Excellent build, very good demo.
This grill will work perfect on top of the dakota fire hole.
😎👍
Great idea !
I would get a small diameter piece of pvc tubing with caps, to pack it up and keep the rest of the gear clean (from soot or meat grease/BBQ sauce).
Just an idea.
Keep up the great work !!!
Yes, that is a great idea, thanks!
Maybe A piece of hemed canvas the dirty side in the clean side out. The PVC not bad either.
Light- weight pouch or unbreakable...
And it's dishwasher safe, lol.
GRATE idea my Friend, that's the way think also. Nice to know I'm not alone.
This has got to be the best fold up grill I've ever seen. I'll definitely be making one of these!
Thanks so much!
You really have a great grate. :O) All kidding aside, I think it is an awesome idea for a small compact grate. Thumbs up.
Thank you so much, brother!
My 6 year old grandson begged me to stop and watch this and we both love this hack! Awesome! Thanks, James, from another James.
That is awesome!
Who knew, I didn’t. I wouldn’t thought of that in a million years . That’s a good idea , I’m going to make one tomorrow for sure , thanks , You’re the Stanley cook set king ! 😁
Thank you!
Love your Stanley pot hacks. Regarding the grill here, it could also be used for cooking fish by wrapping it around and then suspending over fire using wire [from the survival tin] through end eyes of No1/12 at each end. This would help to keep the fish together when cooking.
That's a great idea! Thanks for watching.
Hmm, I don't know why but today I got a notification for this video and another old one I had already seen. I like this idea, thank you, James.
Excellent! I'm not sure why you got notified about an old video either but I'm glad you got to see this one!
I’ve recently bought a Stanley cook set because of your videos. Lots of great ideas in your video series. I’m looking forward to building my own adventure cook set. Thanks for the videos !
Excellent, glad you're enjoying the channel!
I think this is my favourite hack I’ve seen from you…. you have a gift of ingenuity, please keep it up!
Thanks so much!
Another great video. I think I'd take one of the looped ends of the skewers and bend a hook on the end of it. Use the ring as a grip and the hook to pull the hot grate off of the fire.
Good idea! Thank you for watching!
This is absolutely awesome! Another thing to put on my huge list of things to do. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
Neat idea. I believe I'll keep an extra link on each end of the chain and figure out how to thread an extra rod down each end, perpendicular to the other rods, to make it a little more rigid.
Sounds good, thanks for watching!
If you spent a little more you could get the stainless ones (higher melting point) use heat when you bend them. And if you get 2 more you can slide those down the sides to make it ridged.
Good ideas. Thank you for watching!
Along that theme, you could also mix that with your skewer tripod idea and use 4 in the ground and then run the 2 that you are using to make it rigid through the eyes and make a rectangular version of your tripod grill.
Believe it or not but I was just thinking about that.
This is brilliant, effective, multipurpose, simple, and low cost....what else would anyone want or need from a great hack!!! Thanks for another incredible hack. 👍
Thank you so much!
If I may be permitted to say so, your videos are not only full of good info, but I also have personally find them to be uplifting. By the way, I know that if my dad was still alive he would have enjoyed your series on the 1700's time era survival
Thank you so much, I'm glad that you are enjoying the channel! I really do appreciate the kind words.
Saw something like this somewhere made with bicycle spokes and copper pipe. Yours is much easier and cheaper, a much better deal. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
YOU RULE THE OUTDOORS!
Thank you!
This is awesome! Thank you for sharing! Much love and blessings from Ontario Canada!
Another great addition to the Stanley cook set. Using PVC is a good Idea but very bulky. Try a heavy canvas pouch, slide the grill in, fold the end over and tie it tight.
That's also a good idea. Thanks for watching!
Outstanding video !
Keep more coming nothing beats a Stanley.
Thanks!
Thanks for the great DIY project. And the idea to use the left overs for tent stakes is awesome. I will use them for those 4 Don't die in the woods emergency blankets I bought. Again thanks.

I was inspired by your video. Purchased the necessary supplies and made one for myself today. Nothing like warm sunshine, cool breeze, and a truck tailgate for a work bench. Making a sock for it very soon (keep the used grill from getting everything else in the bag dirty. Many thanks for the great instructions and inspiration!
Excellent, glad you liked it and made one. Thank you for watching!
Just curious. Did you ever find a good use for the ends of the skewers with loop? I recalled your tent peg idea.
OK, now this one is pretty slick. Nicely done, thanks.
Thanks for watching, glad you liked it!
You, sir, are a genius. My hat (if I wore one) would be off to you!!

Hi 👋!
Another great video.
I remind myself of best practices; wear eye protection while snipping metal. I'm a worry-wart!
Your Portable Roll-up Grill is so cool and tiny!
Simple materials
- 12 skewers (12") and
- chain Jack #16, single
- needle nose pliers
Cut 4 to 9"( save cut tips).
Crimp end inward a hook shape.
Count 12 chain links, continue with more chains.
Loop chain at both ends of hooked skewer. Keep all at same plane.
___________ ===》 Q________Q
Crimp ends so Loop can't open.
Place grill over fire/ coals. Set on rocks or wood inline to support grills edges. over coals.
Sounds perfect after hunting, camping, retreating for a break. I haven't had a fire- cooked meal in (why do we say ... a (racc) coon's. Who knows if raccoons get old?
I typed this to remind me the process.
Thank you for the demo.
Thank you! Yes, eyewear is always a good idea. I often put my hand over the area that I'm cutting to protect me from wayward metal, but I don't think I did that in this video. Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words!

I cannot believe how popular the Stanley Cook Set has gotten. I wanted a second set to add to my overland camping kitchen and none were on the shelf. A Walmart rep informed me that as soon as they come in they fly off the shelf. The Stanley product line is pretty high quality gear and I'll buy whatever I find. One of the water containers, I believe it's a 750ml single wall canteen with a double opening cap. You can remove the entire cap if you want to use the canteen to boil water. The main cap also has a drinking spout with a separate cap. The cook set and the canteen are perfect for day hikes and even overnight camping. Anyway, your grill hack would be a perfect addition to this set. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much and glad you enjoyed it!
A very nice grill... a good one to make.... very nice....
